Katsumoto: Mayor of Lagos, didn't I tell you. Ishilove is protecting her boo.Im learning to trust your predictions. Beside "wow!" from the mod-elect I have not heard anything else. On a different note,- this is Hot - I just heard from a source that Clinton has a suite in Eko Atlantic for his CGI project. Kats, do you have info? ![]() |
sexkillz: Naptu2 is not interested, unfortunately. Dude, then we want Gbawe! |
Katsumoto: You really think she will do that? Women are very powerful.Lmao.. I bow to the bottom power!!. Kats, you are a bad man! I see a Clintonian syndrome in you. |
Ishilove, Tell him we are waiting for his acceptance speech. ![]() |
Naptu, people of Nairaland love you. We fought hard to get here. In the past Seun and Mukinatu just impose moderators on us. We are joyous to see this day, they listened and now finally they have given power to the people to elect their own moderators. In Nairaland, Politics Section is unique, highly visible and quite attached to the emotions and pragmatism of the turbulence and storms that trouble our nation. I wish you luck if you end up the winner and I trust you will be fair to all, but my brother, remember, you are a Yoruba first. Nigeria is a society of ethnic-politics, it is darn good to be ethnic in Nairaland. Above all, Seun, has granted me immunity from ban while Im in office as Mayor. Respect my immunity if you want us to be friends. ![]() |
There should be no cause for mods to hide posts on something so simple as candidate nomination. Ladies n Gentlemen, let us not imitate our legislators in NASS. Let us show that we are better than them ![]() |
Ngwakwe: @Seun,You are a dolt for making this dumb request. Its actions like these that upsets Chidi Lloyd and make him go berserk with the mace. |
sexkillz: Seun put me here cos he knows I'll get it done. Sorry if you still cannot understand that. My brother, nobody disputes that. The problem is you are too exact on the rules. You ever peeled and diced onions? All onions give teary eyes but some onions will actualy dilate your eyes due to their sharpness. Dont be that onion that dilate pupils..thats all we are saying. |
Ladies & Gents, i d like if these individuals could be considered for the role: GBAWE NAPTU2 KATSUMOTO eGUERILLA Though ALL these men above fit well for the role, I strongly reccommend GBAWE because of: -his consistency in contributions through topics (also like naptu) -his cool temperament in handling conflicting opinions to his !!
I thought about Katz, in fact he would be my only choice but broadly speaking these mods meet and get instructions from Seun and other supermods, Katz is strongly opinionated. He will not be well matched to the style of management Ive seen displayed by Seun and other mods. We want a mod that will be seasoned on the job, not a mod today, quit tomorrow type. Naptu's style is fact finding and reporting. Gbawe is opinionated but he is resilient and unrebellious. ..and I saved you the trouble of nominating myself because left to me I dont even believe any Yoruba person should be banned for harrassing and bullying an Ibo, however grave the extent of such abuse. Whatever comes to an Ibo from a Yoruba is well deserved. Nairaland O Ni Baje o! |
hopilo: In this technology age people still stay in long line under sun or rain to collect posting letter? Why are we still backward? Emails, text messages would have done the job. Orientation should be in the school you are posted to, not to get crowd on the road and cause traffic around the stadium area. Abi na stunt to show I create teacher work give 13000 people. PrimitiveYou are correct. The reason its done this way is because there is a political capital at the end. All tangible social policies through which the government is given visibility must be utilized successfully, even when, as in this case, the lucky employees are greatly stressed and inconvenienced. |
![]() Ohaneze is funny! There is problem back home over who will rule Anambra and they have not stepped up to endorse any candidate yet even though doing so will help unify the base and the region but they are endorsing a candidate who does not need anyone's endorsement to win unanimously in a landslide victory. I tell you, Ibos need to do what they know best, sell spare parts and drugs and leave politics to those naturally endowed for it. Ohaneze is tripping. ![]() |
Politics section is the single most active and volatile forum on Nairaland. Transparency at the top is vrry important so there is no perception of bias. Currently we dont have that. There is a disconnect between members and mods. Members should have a respectful relationship with mods; repeated floggings of members with draconian rules will not achieve that. Similarly, there is need for recognition that our interaction here is fed directly from inputs in society and media and a somewhat flexible discretion is needed to treat or dispose a rule violation. Merit or no merit, the ethnic background of our modrrators should be balanced. Again, this is politics, not entertainment or technology or health and food sections. In those other places I mentioned the affairs of their interaction is inherently ethnic-blind. I therefore nominate Gbawe or Naptu to join the addition and balance the ethnicity makeup. |
so what happened? Stooopid story.
What happened is Ibos want the Yoruba Consul-General out so they can put an Ibo man in. All these noise is nothing but a grand plot. It has been rumored that APC is considering an Iboman for VP for 2015 and this is a push from the ACN component. There will be a tit-for-tat if the Ambassador is removed. We shall bombard Tinubu with letters of protest against Ibo leadership in APC. |
The splinter group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, yesterday called on President Goodluck Jonathan not to contest the 2015 presidential election, urging him to be a hero and save the country from a needless crisis. In the same vein, members of the House of Representatives loyal to the Speaker, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, reacted to the pro-Jonathan members of the House, stating that they lacked the necessary capacity to defend the interest of the president in the lower legislative chamber.Specifically referring to the pro-Jonathan lawmakers, led by Hon. Bethel Amadi, they said if they had the capacity, both the speaker and deputy speaker of the House would not have emerged against the resolution of the PDP, which had zoned both positions to the South-west and North-east respectively. This is just as two of the aggrieved governors – Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State – have stated that no amount of intimidation by the presidency or threats by the PDP to sanction them and other members of the New PDP will make them deviate from the path of “truth and justice”. In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the breakaway PDP, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the New PDP said: “We wish to advise President Jonathan to abandon his plan to seek re-election in 2015 as this ambition of his is not in the best interest of the country.”It added: “Though he has yet to categorically declare his intention to run, President Jonathan has given enough clues indicating that he is working towards doing so. The latest of such clues came on Sunday in New York, USA.“Speaking at a luncheon with Nigerian professionals in the United States, President Jonathan insisted that he is eligible to contest in 2015, stating that we have a constitution that makes a provision for a maximum of eight years for anyone who wants to become a president or a governor.” ‘The New PDP said the disclosure by the president in New York was nothing new as he made a similar claim in April 2012 in his affidavit, in response to the suit instituted at an Abuja High Court by a PDP chieftain, Cyriacus Njoku, seeking to stop him from contesting the 2015 presidential election. The splinter PDP said it was worried that the president was insisting on running by his body language, in contrast to his previous promise not to do so, and in spite of the wise counsel of well-meaning Nigerians, including respected elder statesmen. According to the statement by the New PDP, “In February 2011, while interacting with Nigerians and diplomats working in the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Jonathan clearly stated: ‘I would have loved that the Nigerians in Diaspora vote this year (2011) but to be frank with you, that is going to be difficult now. Presently, the law does not allow voting outside Nigeria and so this year Nigerians in Diaspora will not vote but I will work towards it by 2015 even though I will not be running for election’.”The faction added that the president went ahead to state: “‘Four years were enough for anyone in power to make significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything even if I am there for the next four years’. “This is a historical fact which Mr. President himself cannot deny now since he had two years to deny that statement but never did so. How does Mr. President want Nigerians and the entire world to see him for this volte face? “Why can’t he not keep his word as a man of honour instead of allowing himself to be misled by selfish advisers to go back on his word, thereby overheating the polity?“Mr. President should heed the advice of well-meaning distinguished personalities such as constitutional lawyer, Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN) and Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, all of whom have advised him to correctly read the handwriting on the wall and stay away from the 2015 presidential race.“By 2015, President Jonathan would have served our nation for six solid years. This surely is enough time for him to achieve whatever he is capable of doing for Nigeria. “What else is he looking for that is making him desperate to participate in the 2015 presidential election despite warnings that doing so may spark a chain of events capable of culminating into the country’s disintegration, thereby bringing to pass the predictions of Lord Lugard that Nigeria as a nation by 2014 maybe history, which was later confirmed by the Central Intelligence Agency in the US, that Nigeria may disintegrate by 2015.“Apart from all these, should President Jonathan contest and win by 2015, it means he would have spent ten years in office and will be sworn in three times as the President of Nigeria against the provisions of the country’s constitution. ”The splinter group appealed to the president to “abandon this ill-advised move and save our nation from catastrophe,” adding “God has been merciful to you, Mr. President, lifting you from being a university teacher to President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in so short a time is something you should be grateful and be contented with.”It urged him to listen to the voice of reason and avoid overstretching his good luck, stating, “A word is enough for the wise. ”The group’s appeal to the president coincided with the one from the leader of pro-Tambuwal lawmakers in the House of Representatives, Dr. Abdulmunin Jibrin, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, who stated that though there was no plot to impeach the president, he said members with sympathy for Jonathan lacked the capacity to defend the interest of the president in the chamber. His reaction came against the backdrop of the warning issued by pro-Jonathan lawmakers to move against the leadership of the House.Speaking on Amadi, who has been championing the president’s cause in the lower House, Jibrin said: “He and his colleagues do not have the capacity to do what they claimed that they want to do. If Bethel Amadi and his group had the capacity, even if we actually wanted to impeach the president, he and his colleagues do not have the capacity to stop us.“If he and his colleagues had the capacity to stop us, he would have been deputy speaker of the House today. “We are still in the majority in the House. He had contested for the office of the deputy speaker previously and we defeated him and their supporters on the floor of the House and Emeka Ihedioha was elected instead of him.“Please make no mistake of our numerical strength. We are still in the majority in the House. And if the truth must be told, nobody can accuse the House of being hostile to the president, as we know that the reverse is indeed the case. ”He dismissed reports of an impeachment plot against the president, saying it was a false alarm raised by members who misinterpreted his statement.“Nobody has said that we are going to impeach the president. What we said is that impeachment is part of a constitutional democracy and if there is any reason why that tool should be used, we will not hesitate to enforce it. Does that amount to saying that we want to impeach the president, absolutely not.“What we are doing in the New PDP is a struggle for justice, but to some people, it is business and therefore very easy to raise the alarm on impeachment of the president, where there is nothing to suggest that.“Some people want to use the impeachment threat, where there is none, to get the governorship ticket of the party or one favour or the other, all in the name of protecting the president,” Jibrin said. Meanwhile, the Jigawa State governor yesterday said no amount of intimidation by the presidency would deter the G7 governors from deviating from the path of truth and justice.Lamido made the assertion while inaugurating a road project in Dange Shuni Local Government Area, Sokoto State. He said the seven governors were genuine patriots, who believed in truth and transparent leadership, adding that they were determined to stand by truth in protecting the interest of the people and would not be cowed no matter the level of intimidation and sponsored articles by the presidency to harass them.“No matter the level of intimidation or sponsored articles to harass us, we will always stand by the truth. We are determined to protect the interest of our people.“So we are ready to face anybody to ensure that the interest of our people prevail because the G7 governors are genuine and sincere leaders who believe in honest and transparent leadership,” Lamido said.Lamido described his colleague, the Governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Wamakko, as a visionary leader, who was committed to service delivery to the people of the state. He lauded Wamakko for his giant strides in development projects, particularly in healthcare, infrastructure and housing, which had impacted on the lives of the people. Also, the Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Solid Minerals, Hajia Balaraba Mustapha, said yesterday that neither the federal government, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) nor any other law enforcement agencies could intimidate Kwankwaso and the G7 governors.Mustapha led several women supporters of the governor under the Kwankwasiyya Political Awareness Group to hold a peaceful rally in Kano yesterday, declaring support for the governor. While responding to reporters’ questions after the rally, she said: “With the party crisis now, our governor is not afraid of EFCC even if they threaten him.”Mustapha observed that the federal government is saddled with several cases of fraud and corruption perpetrated by greedy and selfish functionaries of government, and advised the government to turn its searchlight on them instead of her principal. She said: “Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had undergone serious security and judicial harassment in the eight years the state was run by the Shekarau administration, but he came out clean.“From 1999 to 2003, when Kwankwaso presided over the affairs of Kano to his second coming in 2011, he has never been found wanting in the areas of corruption and mismanagement of the public treasury. Rather, he has been attested to be one of the most prudent, honest and hardest working governors by both the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and many other international bodies.” |
Okay, Congratulations Naptu!! ![]() We have a new moderator..naptu2 . Wide support and credibility is important and given the broad endorsement across all ethnics he is determined to be the best candidate. Disclaimer: This announcement does not represent the official decision on the election process. Please do not take it as conclusive. |
Oh i got distracted and forgot what i came in for. ![]() Didnt Igwe Cletus get arrested few weeks ago for exact same offense Igwe Barnabas is locked up for now? Just wondering. |
peckhamboi: Thank God Okija Juju has finally been arrested.Did you come in to comment on crime or to look mah sistah yansh? Ibos are known for mislabels, i dont blame them. In Yorubaland this yansh will get the correct label, "IGWE". Yeee, oma pa mi o! ![]() |
agbameta: Y'all need to go and beg Fashola to release the man in the picture below, he's the only skilled and credible ibo administrator in Nigeria. His administrative experience in Lagos and tutelage under Fashola is priceless.Agbameta, Your suggestion is fair and genuine but they have to want him on their own accord. Because the man was endorsed by Yoruba they will view him as a Yoruba implant and keep distant from him, they will prefer to return Uzor Kalu than consider Uncle Ben. ![]() To Anambra citizens, Forget about party loyalty for now, you know your own people more thany anyone else and only you know where the shoe hurts you. The next set of governors to succeed the incumbents should be expected to be a step above their predecessor. Who in Anambra political leadership has the concesus of the electorate? Vote competence, character, proven track records, a "show me" person - you need tactical progress and execution, not boardroom planning and press speeches. Take mind away from party and zero in on talent. Who would it be? Select top three talents and out of that choose the Best equipped. |
I can't stand that man and i can't forgive him for how, after 8 years, he's left a state with potentially the 4th largest economy in Nigeria! Apart from his personal investments in the state, i can't think of anything else that would give me a positive feeling about Anambra state.....and the stunt he pulled on Soludo only confirms he's after his selfish interests first b/4 that of the state!
Astute politicians know that a godfather is an indispensable commodity to carry around. It is costly, but nonetheless worthy to have. Does Soludo have a godfather? |
Who owns this mall? I hope they have good insurance. |
Victims arrested ke? Op, what do you mean by the title? |
deletrue: What is happening in Nigeria and to nigerians is what i will describe as many nigerians runing a race on unmarked tracks, as winners will not be identified. Having gone through many of the threads here, there is clear indication that majority of us are men of very little or without understanding! Otherwise how come a high number, including Wandeok, Pangea, Segun-obe, ronalmagic and many others can misconstrued calling the USA to come and fix Nigeria for incompetency of president Jona? With this level of most nigerians, there is realy trouble inasmuch as a greater number of nigerians are below normalcy. I think I am waisting time here. Am strongly doubting the number of people that will understand this view points. When American President meets with any leader in the world there are handlers in the room with him. They are formally referred as aides. The aides work in the executive office. In addition you will also have observers. These are think tanks and the media. These people come from different professional background, you have those to watch and interprete Jonathan's body language and his gestures and expressions, whether he is looking up and direct at Obama or looking down on the floor and not making eye contact; you have those who analyze his diction to count how many times he said "we" instead of "i"; there are people who are listening for him as an oil exporter to mention on Syrian war and comment on its impacts, and if he doesnt they have a score sheet on which to submit their opinion of him; then you have the Kenyan terror and definitely as a leader of Africa, one besieged by terrorists as well, it would help to get a resolute and firm stand on his convinction and believe that the enemy of America is the enemy of Nigeria and we stand together, lockstep, to take war to terror anywhere they exist in Africa and wipe them out. He might wear the same hat with them but Americans are rough riders when it comes to politics and you cant go talk to their President like you are addressing some creek Chief in the Delta. Next time Gej visits America, assuming he does before 2015, he ought to watch past visits by Nigerian Presidents. Even Balewa speech in early 60s was far more Presidential and regaled than this man's. You tell Americans how great the Nigerian people are and that you are proud of them. You let them know that the American culture of freedom, liberty and justice is a truth we hold dear. You reassure them that your own office is a testament to the truth of democracy in a new and emerging Africa. You bring elements of past cooperation and rivalry between America and Nigeria. World Cup is coming up, cheer them up and say we look forward to a meet on the field. Americans love to be challenged and viewed as the bully. Prop their nasty ego with political scripts. Tell them you want to see more Americans visit, invest and settle in Nigeria. This is only possible in a secured and productive society and that mission is already off ground and in pilot stage and with cooperation from the State Department and Chambers of Commerce the opportunities are endless. Dude Gej speech is unpresidential, period! |
Katz, If Tompolo or Alhaji catch you, you go hear am. ![]() |
Katsumoto: Clearly you are the one lacking comprehension.Hold on, hold on, wooo, hold on mehn!!! The richest man on the planet has acknowledged and thanked The President of the most populous black country in the world for his greatest accomplishments. Gej is the first Nigerian President to be praised by Bill Gates, the first Nigerian President to ring the closing bell at NYSE and thereby officialy closing all markets on the planet, including the single most revenue generating market anywhere on the African continent, Ladipo. Gej is in a different class mehn! How dare you criticize the only President who has successfully tackled terror in Africa? My man, this is an abomination and until we give you clearance you are banned from stepping foot anywhere in SS or SE. ![]() |
As usual, white race is always the hero anywhere bad things are happening. On the last day when the earth start to roll up and the stars and meteorites are raining down on the people of the earth, expect a white person to be the saviour. Oh my, what shall we do without our white savior? |
tomakint: Don't let me oblige you on this noble fact, make google your friendLol. If were Ihejirika's tribeman I will not use bokoharam conflict as a yardstick to measure his competence. At best, Nigerian security forces, led tactically by Ihejirika has failed woefully. Please put bikoharam aside when measuring his accomplishments. Anyway, you all love to boast ... you came in blasting about "your research". Give us reports from your research. Waiting... |

and while at that, tell me any COAS in the history of this country that had managed the turbulent times Nigeria is currently facing security-wise in the hands of our 'nomadic brothers up North' with such finese?
