We know today that the color characteristics of animals is purely a matter of genetics, so a modern, scientifically-educated person would never write anything as obviously superstitious as this tale of Jacob's prosperity. The Genesis writer(s), however, knew nothing about the science of genetics, so to him the story undoubtedly made good sense.

The Bible's authencity has been tested time and time again.  Over the centuries the Bible has been rigorously tested for scientific accuracy, and it has never failed.  It has not only proven to be true but it is the key for us in understanding the world we see today.  While we have the benefit of the eyewitness account humanists and skeptics have to rely on their daydreaming and fairy tales to make up the missing links.

Where is the genetic evidence that shows that all humans descended from one man and one woman? Those are just a few from the book of matthew alone. . .How do you explain them away?. .

What do you expect? The next level after this infantile level is the childish-sophistry level of "define god" etc; after that the next level is to recycle, parrot and regurgitate old arguments some of which are obsolete; after that the next level is to resort to intellectually dishonest methods. Which of the writers of the gospel have ever stated that they were eyewitness to any of the things that they wrote about? Which of the writers of the gospels have ever claimed to have ever known Jesus or were together with him at any time. . .Can you show me where such was written in any parts of the gospel?. . .By the way it is not all the books of the new testament that were written in the 1st century AD . . .
