Yes i can.
Then go ahead and do so. . . . .

But then the subjective reality that I would point to is outside of your cognitive abilities to appreciate, anyway, so we’d end up where we started off! This is not meant as an insult by the way. It is a 'fact' that some scientists argue, stating that belief in God is an evolutionary function of the brain and not anything really that special. They say that those of us, who have religious experiences, have parts of our frontal and temporal regions slightly over stimulated!
What you are saying here is that your god exists ONLY in your preconceived imaginations. . . .Only your mind and emotions "feel" or detect this god that you claim exists very funny indeed. . .

But the question was actually about why YOU, Mazaje, persist in your unbelief, in spite of the fact that YOU have no evidence for the Non existence of God.
You have not provided ANY evidence to show that any god exists any where, My evidence for the non existence of any god is that no god can be shown to exists on its own independent of man made stories, cultural mythologies written by men about different deities and societal acceptance along with their claims and influence. . . .

Here are some. Matter cannot spring out of nothingness.
What if matter was uncreated and eternal? I don't know but it is possible because no one knows. . .

Dust can never ever give rise to life even if you give it 5 billion years to do so!
Have you lived for 5 billion years to really know this? Dust can never give rise to life but you believe that the voice of an unknown, imaginary and undetected deity who nobody can even describe used words of hebrew to create all the birds we see around eh?. . . .Interesting. . . .

Human consciousness is not explained by biochemistry etc etc.
What best explains human consiousness than scientific studies and explanations? Have your found evidence for the mythical soul yet? Where is your evidence for this?

Yet you still hold on to your clearly ridiculous dogmas that somebody less cultured would cast vituperative aspersions on!
My friend, I have an idea of what I am talking about, alright. It’s you who needs a bit more cognitive stimulation, in the neurophysiological sense of the words, to get the hang of what I am on about. Otherwise it will continue to elude you!
My friend you have NO idea of what you are talking about. . . .I will only believe that you know what you are talking about when you point to the existence of any god that is independent of man made stories, cultural mythologies, societal acceptance and claims. . . . .

Nah i think you are the one who has a deliberately fraudulent approach to understanding the bible. Mavenbox astutely explained this verse in a short sentence . . .
Even you guys know very well that this teaching is untenable and have decided to abandon it. . . .Jesus was clear when he said what ever he said. . . .If some one slaps you he said turn the other check not report him to the authorities is what was written. . . .Reporting to the authorities is going against the words of Jesus. . . .If some one takes your shirt you are to give him your coat is what was written not report to the authorities. . . . .

You live in a society that is governed by laws. Anyone who slaps you is guilty of assault and must be punished according to the law. The new testament clearly advocates that even christians should submit to laws of the land and constituted authority.
If you read the words of Jesus in context of the supposed time then it will make sense. . . .Jesus was an apocalyptic end of day preacher who was talking about the end of the world that was at hand and was supposed to come during the generation of his followers so why put up a defense? The Kingdom of Heaven was already at hand anyway.

I, too, am interested in how 'unbelievers', whatever they are, persist in their unbelief.
Can you point to the existence of any god that is independent of man made stories, cultural mythologies, and societal acceptance?

The inconsistencies in the materialists worldview, to which a lot of 'unbelievers' like Mazaje subscribe, also puzzles me! Is it likely that it is just human nature?
What are the inconsistencies?

Mazaje, as a representative of this unfortunate group of beings, perhaps you will be kind enough to give us a bit of insight into how you persist in your unbelief.
The moment you point to the existence of any god that is independent of man made stories, cultural myths written by men about different deities and societal influence then I might begin to consider you as some one that has an idea of he is talking about. . . .

Christianity Etc › Questions For Christians by mazaje(op): 5:36pm On Jan 21, 2010
I am really interested in understanding how belief persists and how believers surmount inconsistencies in their beliefs. Reading the NT when I was a Christian I was amazed to find Jesus's words in Matthew 5 and Luke 6 about letting your enemies beat you and take your possessions. I'd never heard a minister or pastor recommend it as very good advice from God at all. . . .I wondered how many Christians believe in or practice these nonresistance to evil or harm teachings of Jesus. . .Add to Matthew 5and Luke 6 the beatitudes and the rebuke to the disciple who cut off the High Priest's slave's ear and you can make the case that Jesus taught complete pacifism. Some Christians claim that the teaching to submit to evildoers is no longer binding, or they say that nonresistance to harm or attack can itself be an evil in a given situation. . . .

So to the Christians out there how do you interpret the issue? Specifically the ones below. . . . .

1- Does Luke 6:27-31 command you to submit to beatings, what we call obtaining in Nigerian slang and robbery? If not, why not?

2- Would you submit to a physical assault without resisting/fighting back? If not, why not?

3- If Christians are not to resist beatings, is it also their burden to submit to being murdered? If not, why not?

4- If Luke 6 is no longer binding on Christians, are there other teachings of Jesus which have expired in application? Which ones? How do you know?

5- If pacifism is not the intent of Jesus's teachings, which of his quoted words show this?

6- Should Christian Nations have a military, and should Christians participate?

7- Since Christians argue both sides of pacifism(like you guys do on both sides of every issue)doesn't this indicate that the NT and the recorded teachings of Jesus are an incomplete and ambiguous "revelation" at best? If you are never to pick up arms, in any circumstance, why was this recorded?

Most Christians who I have discussed with who oppose pacifism did so based on a lot of Old Testament rationalization. My take on this is that the Bible is a funny thing parts are dismissed when convenient and then invoked when convenient.

@mazaje: I'm certain you know that there are tombs of other prominent people all over the world that have not yet been found (e.g. due to ruins, collapses and conquests), as well, and future excavations can bring them all to light?
Yes. . . . . .

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.
OLAADEGBU said that the empty tomb of Jesus still exists. . . .I just want him to tell us where it is. . . .If you claim that there are 100 cows flying in the sky be prepared to provide evidence for them or be ready to be accepted as the joker that you are. . . . .

I have supplied you with credible arguments and you have dismissed them summarily. I urge you to (in secret, you do not need to report back here) consider what respected anti-Christian authorities have to say about the missing tomb. You will be amazed that it is not a debated matter in intelligent circles.
These are NOT arguments at all. . . .If we are to go by those methodology then it can be argued that prophet Mohammad ascended into paradise on the back of a winged beast. . . . .Who are the respected anti-Christian authorities that talk about the alleged empty tomb and what have they said about it?. . . . .

But if you want to continue your tussle with Olaadegbu, be my his guest. After all, pretending to know what you have no idea about is the lifeblood of atheism.

This excerpt is from http://www.leaderu.com/offices/billcraig/docs/tomb2.html and it contains authentic proof of the historicity of Jesus' Empty Tomb.

If you are really asking for the truth, and not just out to make jokes, read the excerpt or read the full gist at http://www.leaderu.com/offices/billcraig/docs/tomb2.html

The article is replete with relevant references. Cheers.
What is this? I bet using this methadology it can be shown that Prophet mohammed also ascended into heaven historically on the back of a winged beast. . . . .The pyraminds of Egyptian kings that existed long before Jesus are still there for every body to see. . . .Where is the empty tomb of Jesus?. . . . .Talking about Paul, James, John and the other alleged disciples of Jesus from the bible says NOTHING at all. . . .Where are the extra biblical Jewish writings that talk about an empty tomb of Jesus of Nazareth who was raised from the dead?. . . .Even Paul himself in the bible does NOT talk about any empty tomb at all. . . . . I am very familiar with Willaim Criag and his non arguments and non evidence for the alleged resurrection of Jesus. . . .

I beg to differ. The Bible doesn't contain errors in a sense. Yes, there are what I'll term typographic errors, not from the rootsource but as it was passed on. This is human limitation. Yet God has so guided His Word that nothing significant or of real consequence has been lost or made unclear. Holy men as they were moved/inspired by God, wrote the Bible.
Great men all over the world and through history do not read an ordinary book. The sick do not get healed by reading an ordinary book. Billions of people through thousands of years do not meditate on the same ordinary book. Different countries, developed and otherwise do not form their laws and lives around ordinary books. Thousands of literates do not sit typing on NL and other forums over an ordinary book. Get real.
Can you heal an amputee by reading from the bible?. . . . .Remember Jesus says that you can do all things and nothing will be impossible for you if only you believe. . . .I have friends that are amputees who happen to be christians can you use the bible to heal them and make their amputated limbs grow back(Remember nothing will be impossible for you if you believe accoding to Jesus)?. . . . .I even have a friends whose child was born blind can you use the bible to heal him? The lady in that news was smiling and singing. Those are the biblical principles I referred to. Ever read about Paul and Silas in prison?
During the China Earth quake that occured in 2008 a pregnant woman was rescued from the rubble 72 hours later, she wasn't smiling and singing. . . . .The woman would have survived without singing and smiling. . . . .

The attitude brought them deliverance. Scriptures talk about rejoicing always, being of good cheer, a merry heart, hopeful, praising God. These were the attitude of the rescued lady, and no doubt contributed to her survival under rubble for 1week.
If you feel the Bible is so ordinary, abeg write your own book in collaboration with any author of your choice. Let's see how many people will read it and be ready to die for it even in your lifetime, not to speak of 100years time.
What about those that sang and smiled but still ended up dead? Have you heard about the quotation of Chairman Mao, Its not different from the bible? There are people that have died for the koran, the book of mormon, the hindu verda and many other religious text. . . .What does that tell you? It says that people will die for their beliefs and that is nothing special or extra-ordinary. . .Its all a human attribute and part of the way humans function. . . . .

Oh, your point is that God doesn't exist, and disaster in Haiti further proves it. My point is that biblical principles still apply in Haiti, and I gave an example.
What are the biblical principles that apply? Earth quakes and natural disasters are a part of the natural world and will ALWAYS be with us weather the bible talks about it or not. . . . .

On your other point, the reason why people follow a '2000' year old mind control system (whatever that means) is because it's not a natural book. Go and comprehend that before you post anything again.
And what makes the bible not to be an ordinary book? Does the bible contain errors? Does it contain mistakes? Was it written by men? Does it contain the wishes aspiration and ignorance of men? Was it men that sat down and decided to bundle it up and call it a supernatural book? The answer to all these is YES. . .So what makes the bible not an ordinary book? Because some people LIED that some god "inspired" them to write it and use it as a selling point to attrack others to their world view and hypothesis about the world and some other thoughts of theirs?. . . . .  Does the bible contain anything that men could not have written? NO. . .So what exactly is your point?

So you expect honeric01 to send you his own set of youtube videos and weblinks to prove the existence of God? That's all you can present against the existence of God, right? Well, did you read my post on the first page of this thread? You seem to have inconveniently dodged it. It could help you though.
As a bytalk sha, I was reading on the news earlier today, where some world food organisation talked about distributing a total 250 000 food rations as at yesterday. I think that's below par. Maybe they should call in proven experts in distribution. I've been to christian retreats and conferences where more than 250 000 rations were distributed in less than 7days. They don't know much about crowd control in N.America, they need to consult crusade and retreat experts here in Africa.
Also, I read of a 26yr old survivor rescued this morning. She was smiling and singing. It's beautiful to hear that Bible principles still work, even in Haiti.
And what about the others that died? huh huh. . . . .Your first post is means and says nothing of importance you were just quoting some bible verses that make sense only to you and nobody else. . . . . .This is as same as me quoting from even 100 or 200 year old books. There's newer books out there that will tell a far better story of the world around you and how it operates than that 2000 year old, mind control system which people follow its outdated teachings and morals as if they are deaf and blind to the realities around them?

honeric01:
In my post, i haven't even reference any religious backings yet, i only mentioned God, not any book or theory, i am using my human thought to tackle you first. or did you see me quote any bible or quaran?
Did you come down from your mothers womb with the knowledge of the existence of a god or where you taught to believe in the existence of a particular god by your parents and surrounding culture and environment?

I did, i can't repost them, scroll down, read what i wrote carefully, then quote me if you think i am yet to point out why God exist. i don't have to force you to believe, i don't have to make you believe out of your will, it's what you have to accept on your own. as long as you didn't fall from the sky. even the first humans that gave birth to all of us as the scientist claimed didn't fall from the sky. they claimed humans came from animals, now tell me, where did these animals come from? particles? where did the particles come from? are these things making sense to you? why has the cloud not fallen down yet? science try to make you think these things work on their own or created themselves but does it make sense to you? can money create itself?
I keep asking your the same thing, do you have any evidence to show that any god created birds for example using words? Or do you just believe it because your parents and surrounding culture accept that hypothesis as true?. . . .I don't know how or where humans came from but if you say that god did it then you will have to show that a god exist on its own independent of stories, tradition and culture. . . .Pointing to things that we do not understand and saying that a god must have done it is nothing but saying I do not know. . . .God is your default position for I do not know. . . .You believe that a god that can not be detected at all whose existence can only be shown through cultural stories, myths and societal beliefs created it self and created other things eh?. . .Interesting

we shouldn't continue trying to make eachother believe in anything, just stick to what you believe but don't try to ridicule those that believe in God okay?
As long as you subscribers in the god hypothesis will accept that it is perfectly OK for people not to accept your hypothesis without prejudice and disrespecting them then I believe it will be OK for us all. . . . .
