Christianity Etc › Re: The Insanity Of A Radical Muslim(everybody Should See These) by mazaje(m): 6:28pm On Feb 10, 2010
^^

Very true words. . . .I can't for the life of me understand why Europeans are allowing these mad animals into their Countries. . .Its like they do not really know that these people are there to take over, That is what Islam teaches them. Most Muslims are Muslims first before they are any other thing. . . .Why are Europeans allowing Moslems to build mosques here in Europe when they know very well that Churches and Hindu shrines are not allowed in so many Majority Muslim countries? What has a mosque to do with islam? A mosque for a muslim is a place of worship unlike place of worship of any other religion. It is the head quaters of islam. Once a mosque is built, the place is forever a mosque property. Anyone who tries to do anything bad to a mosque is regarded as an attack on islam. Even a policeman is not allowed to walk in with his dirty shoes or people could tear him apart.

This is why if people deal with muslims they need to learn the consequences before they agree anything with muslims. No point complaining after wards when things have been already done.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Is The Fundamental Difference Between Science And Religion? by mazaje(m): 6:19pm On Feb 10, 2010
sinequanon:
Thank you mazaje.

I would examine some of the terms you have used.

1. Supernatural

This concept only exists relative to science. The word describes ideas which have not been accepted by science.

Similarly, there are scientific ideas which have not been accepted by various religions, and religious ideas that have not been accepted by other religions. Science is no different in this respect. It is not wholly consistent with other bodies of belief.

2. Substantiate/measure

These words seems to be key to your assertion that science assesses the environment differently from religion. I see these words as self-referential. Implicitly, I think you are merely labelling qualitative assessment that happens to have used the scientific method. Like science, religions use their own means of assessment. It does not set any one of them apart in a fundamental way. Scientifically, an entity is deemed to have been measured (quantified) if it registers on some scientific scale. Equally, a religious entity is realised when it is religiously witnessed.

3. Invisible

Scientific entities can also be invisible. All sub-nuclear particles are 'invisible'. They are identified by their effect. Similarly, religious entities -- from ghosts to gods are known by their effect.

etc., etc., ,

There are more, but I think the differences you have described are superficial, semantic differences, not fundamental ones.
The fundamental difference between science and religion is that science tells people to accept a rational evidence based world view that does not exclude extrapolation and theories we cannot yet prove but religion tells people to accept a view that what they are told can be true for them and they believe it in the face of no evidence at all to support it. . . . .Science does its job. It creates a framework for understanding what goes on around us. It explains things in a common language so that anyone with some knowledge of how the process functions can digest what is being said and draw a reasonably common set of conclusions. Thats probably a gross over-simplification but that is not to under-estimate what science gives us. Science and religion on the scale of their "spirit", are completely incompatible. We may not know everything. We may not be able to know everything. But we can try, in good spirit, to know things; and "know" is still up for debate. Good (real) science is our best shot with all the avaliable information. Something could still be wrong, but that's the beaty of good (real) science. If something is wrongg, it is corrected when newer evidence is put forth. Honesty and integrityare a huge part of it. Good science censors nothing for any reason. Everything is fair game.

Religion on the other hand hmmmmmm. . . . .Well doesn't employ anything I've just mentioned. Religion may start off innocent like science with curious thought, but once you add in the you know, religion part it's all downhill from there. You can assert ANYTHING with religion for no reason. You can make up all kinds of fluffy b.u.l.l.Poo to justify this and that. In the end, you still only have the faith card. Which is a cop-out anyway because faith is not a way of "knowing" anything. It's just saying that you don't care to think about your position anymore and that's that. Which is inherently a very dangerous approach to various things in life and I am still shocked it is so popularly promoted.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Is The Fundamental Difference Between Science And Religion? by mazaje(m): 12:17pm On Feb 10, 2010
Religions propose (OK I know there must be some who don't but at the least the mainstream ones) that there is another world, a supernatural world, where being who are just spirits live or reincarnate into other things. We are told this by holy books whose teaching are repeated and repeated over the generations. Yet this is the point at which religion and science are most at oddsReligion is not science and science is not religion. Science is based on observation and theories based on those observations. The philosophy of science is that you can postulate explanations which may be tested by observation and or experimentation or you can postulate explanations which may only be deduced to be correct but which have a high order of probability of being correct. One can argue that is also what religion apologists attempt to do but the key difference is creating an experiment which will substantiate the theory. . . . . . . To the best of my knowledge, there is no chant, ritual, incantation, prayer, series of gestures, etc. which will consistently produce an entity which can be seen and measured and identified as "God". . . . .Religionists love to ride on the coat tails of science if they can deviously make it seem like it supports their various religious claim, but they castigate science at every opportunity when it conflicts with their magic story even as they benefit from the fruits of science e.g a computer world, longer lives, air travel, cell phones, antibiotics, a growing wonderous understanding of our universe as well as the microscopic world, DNA, etc.

Religious folks have just gotten used to not having their pet superstitions questioned. They like to feel like it's ennobling to believe in their version of magical thinking. I feel pretty equal about all man made superstitions and mythology(Scientology, Astrology, psychics, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, demons, satan, angels, etc). . . .All belief in the paranormal, supernatural, and other pseudoscientific beliefs. They just don't hold up under testing at all no conclusive evidence have been put forth to support them at all. Personally I believe its better I say I do not know something than believe a lie, and as far as the evidence goes, all belief in invisible beings is are all the same. There is no more evidence for Thor than Jesus-God or Allah God. There is not 2 sides to "the debate." There is one truth IMO and so far science is the best path for illuminating the truth that is the same for everyone no matter what they believe but the same can not be said of religion.

On the flip side, there are millions of different types of faiths and religions and they do not hold up or measure up the same way as science does. . . .humans have always invented gods or other invisible entities and supernatural explanations to explain that which they don't understand. But then science comes along and tells them to stop sacrificing virgins or goats, there are no weather gods that need pleasing, and we can do better by using irrigation and planting weather resistant crops. There are no fertiliuty gods that need pleasing etc. . . .The fundamental difference between science and religion is that science does not claim it knows or hold the ultimate truth or tries to castigate any body or anything that disagrees with it. . . . According to religion one version of a magical story you are urged to believe in is the ultimate " truth"over all the other possibilities because somehow you were thought it was "the truth". . . . but doesn't every believer think that? Everyone is going to hell according to somebody's religion.

21st century advances in science help explain what was once seen as supernatural or had religious explanations (volcanoes, earthquakes, rainbows, biology, physics, age of the universe, etc). It is my belief the modern day religious apologists see the advances in science as influencing people to abandon their religious beliefs and worship the "god of science". Thus, the apologists stepping into the fray are faced either with trying to discount science or elevate religious belief to an equal of science. If that understanding is correct then the modern day religious apologist is doomed. Science would like something more that conjecture about a supernatural world. Yet there is nothing. What religion teaches is just so-called facts which have no means of verification built in and require acceptance as they are with not a shred of supporting evidence or theory. Ultimately, there is nothing we have in common with religion and science at least until a religion comes up with something that suggests their world-view, including the supernatural, is a possibility. Until then (and I guess we do not expect it will come) religion and science are opposed in view.

Muslims in the west need to start realising that in todays world original islam has no place so they need to look at the idea of state religion separation as a matter of urgency. When we talk about freedom, secularism, democracy etc. We are talking about principles that must be held in common. These principles are based on the rule of cooperation, coexistence, compromise and tolerance as prerequisite. Islam and many muslims oppose these roots and branch in most cases. . . . . .The people in the west must realise that many muslims come from intolerant ideological background and they are not willing to integrate despite the efforts by the communities they have come to live with. According to their beliefs, islam is the beginning and the end for them. Their first and foremost loyalty is to their religion and nothing else. . . .

This is obvious from the fact that whenever two muslim countries are in war with each other, no muslim of any other country goes and fights against one or the other. However when war is between a muslim and a non-muslim country muslims will go and fight for the muslim country and if that country happens to be where they are living, they will try and do all they can to let muslim country off the hook. Their prayers will be full of victory for the muslim country and destruction of the non-muslim country even if it is the country in which they live, . . . .I have said it before and I will say it again most Muslims are not fair minded people they are islam minded people. They do whatever they can for glory of islam. They try their best to destroy democracy through democracy because democracy is against the basic teachings and doctorines of islam. . . . . .

Muslims were originally here in europe to escape poverty and live better lives. The idea for most of them was they will work here make some money and go back home. However once they became stable in these countries they started settling down and need arose for them to meet their religious needs and demands. This triggered having mosques and when mosques were built they needed imams. When imams were imported from abroad they begin to teach islam and once people were told that they were duty bound to hold on to islam, teach it to their next generations and to spread message of islam they began isolating themselves from evils of the west and opened up missions in order to stop western evils by converting local community to islam. If the Europeans do not take action and stop this mad animals from coming into their countries and fighting them from within their borders THEY WILL END UP EATING THEM ALIVE. . . . . .

Muslims reject Al-Qaeda offer
By Ifedayo Adebayo
February 7, 2010 12:36AM

Nigerian Muslims reject any attempt by Al-Qaeda or any of its affiliate groups to procreate their cells in Nigeria like it has done in some other countries, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) said in Abuja at the weekend.

The council, through a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the group, Lateef Adegbite, said Nigerian Muslims are not at loggerheads with their Christian counterparts and that “the recent unfortunate bloody Jos disturbances, like others before it, were not caused by religious differences but were rooted in ethnic and political rivalry.

“Neither Al-Qaeda nor the Taliban has a foothold in Nigeria. Nor would Nigerian Muslims welcome any attempts by them to establish their cells here,” the council said.

The council said the Nigerian Muslim leadership had briefed its followers, especially the youth, on the need to be alert and avoid persons and groups who might want to indoctrinate and recruit them into violent groups.

“Nigerian Muslims are irrevocably committed to the unity, peace and stability of our beloved country.” The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) also dissociated the Muslim community in Nigeria from the message from Al-Qaeda, saying that “neighbourliness is one of the core teachings of Islam. We cannot rise against our neighbours simply because we hold different religious views.”

NEXT
One of the express teachings of Islam is to spread Islam to the whole world, through any mean necessary. In other words, the rest of us that do not believe in the lies of mohammed and Allah are the enemy. While the civilized world goes towards increased respect for human rights, and tolerance, Islam is stuck in its intolerant, brutal ways, with no apparent intention to get on board with the rest of civilization any time soon. . . . . . .All too often, mosques and islamic schools are used as pulpits to spew hate and incite violence.
When even the so-called moderate Muslims are sympathetic of terrorist attacks and sharia law, one has to truly wonder if there is such a thing as a moderate Muslim.

Have you ever seen anything being created?

Man came from God, He is dead without God.
False God came from man without man god is dead. . . .All the gods rely on men to do everything for them and all the gods are exactly like the men that created them. . .Your evidence to show that there is a god that exists on its own independent of human culture, stories, mythology and societal acceptance is what?

Theres vacuum in man that Only God can fill.
What is this vaccum any evidence for these assertion? The lie you guys keep telling yourselves so that you can keepo holding unto your delusions is ridiculous. . . .

Man is not born atheist but man is naturaly religious, Put him in a jungle he will look for a God.
Religin is always a cultural thing. . . .No man was born with the knowledge of any god at all that is why parent that are religious make sure that they indoctrinate their kids from child hood. . . .all men are born with out the belief or knowlwdge of any god. . .you always follow the religiuon and god of your parents. . . .

There is no real atheist ,all these atheist shouting here and there are only looking for attention due to their frustrations and emptyness and disappontment ,
Yet another ridiculous conclusion that relies on your own presumptions. There is no evidence to support the notion that this 'god' character of yours exists, let alone that appeals to it have any effect whatsoever.I know how nice these ridiculous conclusion makes you guys feel. . . .Well, after being a believer at one time, it would appear that believing Gods exist can make a person "feel good". So Gods may be "useful" psychologically for some like a placebo. but to try to point the finger at atheists, to denigrate and demean them for reasons of your own by making up ridiculous conclusions about non-believers that do not subscribe to your own delusions helps to silence your own deep-seated doubts? (See, I can presume things about you too). By the way your evidence to show that atheist are empty, frustrated and disapointed is what?. . . . .I laugh in Hausa. . . .

but deep down, they know there is a God they only try to deny
Another lie. . . .No evidence to show that this god chracter of your exists any where. . . .

That is why in every culture they believe there is a God in heaven,
This is a LIE there are so many cultures that do not believe that there is any god in heaven. . . .There are so many cultures that believe in reincarnation. . . .When will you stop lying to yourself? Christians and Moslems are the only one that are deluded enough to assume that there is a heaven. . . .Most other cultures do not believe in that concept at all. . . .

religion is their way of searching for him. You dont teach a dog how to bark , there is something in every puppy, he knows he has to bark ,it is his calling.
And why does god have to be a he? There are so many religion that worship female deities. . . . .So people are now searching for god eh?. . . . .Keep on keeping on in your bubble of delusion. . . . .

If there were Gods with supernatural powers as we ONLY get to read about then why are not their representatives in Haiti healing people and helping the Haitians to at least locate people alive buried under the rubble? We have people telling different stories about how their various gods told them these or that? Why are the gods not telling people where to locate those buried under the rubble?

Haiti is the perfect place for Gods to show that they are not helpless. Rescue teams, doctors, even search-dogs, from all over the world are there right now trying to help people or locate them and give them immediate help. Where are the faith-healers, the tele-evangelists that claimed God can instantly heal people? Where are they in Haiti to restore amputated limbs, heal broken bones and people that have lost their sight all through prayers? Where are they in Haiti to cast their magic prayer spell and heal people? Don't the Gods know where all the people are buried? They could at least tell the rescue workers. But they have not.

The earthquake in Haiti has shown that if Gods exist as so many people will like to have us believe then they are all helpless and can do nothing. . . . . Because to me It is only humans and even animals that can help one another in times of disasters all the gods with what ever attributes that their creators chose to assign unto them are no where to be found.

Gods are helpless.
