The problem of the expressway churches in every nook and cranny of the country is not essentially in their mushrooming, it is in the way they barge into our minds and corrode the roots of our thinking with what they preach. They start with fear. And fear like HIV is very polite and diplomatic, its effectiveness is in being unassuming, going on easy till it shatters your immune system and leaves you gullible to all sorts of senseless teachings and practices. 'Come and thank God for your life, many slept yesterday, but couldn't wake up today, that you woke up is not your doing but,  or: ' I know one man who did not pay his tithe for only one month his son became ill, he sold land and properties to pay hospital bills, his son still died.' Or 'repent now, tomorrow may be too late.' Without enacting fear and promoting its negativity as a normal state of mind - fear of eternity, of hunger, of curses, of tomorrow, fear of enemies, real or imagined, fear of God - no religion would prosper.[/b] Fear is after all, the masterpiece of the evil one.

In the North, a shepherd boy with a small stick (saanda) can order around thousands of cows with big-horns on their heads like PhDs. In the expressway churches, anybody with a pocket-size Gideon bible in the hand can tell tens of thousand of 'educated' people that 2+2 = 13 has been revealed as the truth, they will jump up and shout Ameeen and begin to dance around! That is the depth to which we have sunk. Reason and scientific thinking are no longer a matter of fact. Instead of the unrestricted and diligent exercise of the intellect to problems, we are told solution is in praying for divine intervention, we are told we are in end times and so earthquakes, cyclones, AIDS are fated. We can do nothing.

Weirdly, Christianity no longer calls itself a religion, it is a way of life. So every time on any day you turn on your TV or radio, in the buses, in the offices, markets, on the Internet, a preacher is there retailing some messages or emails of mental bacteria. Little wonder there is an outbreak of mediocrity all over the country. In serious countries, they are building heavens and making lives better for their citizens, in Nigeria we are bringing about hell so as to justify why we have to go to heaven

I too have done this during the waning days of my religious and superstitious beliefs. . , I was BADLY in need of some spiritual or supernatural evidence even if it was going to harm me that I did all kinds of crazy things from climbing to the mountians where those white garment people worship  desecrate their shrine just so that some thing might happen to me to make me believe in the supernatural to going to the grave by 1-2 am and sleeping there just so that I might see some spirits roaming around or dancing . . . .It turns out that all the stories I was hearing or have heard were nothing but hear say, myths and urban legands. . . . .Demons exists only in the imagination of those that subscribe to the myth. . . .

It was needful that Jesus be born of a virgin because it was the seed of the woman that was to bruise Satan, not the seed of the man. That's what makes Him(Jesus) the second Adam, a first of His kind. The second Adam is needed because a spotless sinless lamb is needed for the sacrifice on calvary.
And maven, Jesus is also son of David literally. Luke 3 traces His maternal geneology. Matthew traced His geneology from Joseph. Joseph was 'technically' his father one way or the other, should we say step?

In the Christian creation myth, Adam & Eve were placed into the garden of Eden next to an extremely tempting fruit and they Eve was later decieved by some serpent to eat from the tree even though she did not even know the weight of her actions because she did not have the knowledge of right and wrong. The important part of the story here is that according to the Christian hypothesis literally billions of people would come to suffer afterwards due to the actions of one person that was decieved by some serpent.

That being the case, is it really so surprising that the same God would punish modern day Haitians due to the actions of their forefathers many generations ago? I am finding it harder and harder to really condemn Pat Robertson on logical grounds at least from the point of view of his religion . . . . . Since his God has absolutely no problems with doing the same i.e punishing people for the crimes of their parents according to his beliefs . . . . . . So why should Christians condemn Pat Robertson? I know that there are many who do not. However, there are a large and very vocal amount of Christians condemning him loudly and vehemently. Isn't it sort of hypocritical? If those people want to be more like their God, wouldn't it make logical sense to agree with what Pat Robertson said?

What is wrong with the Catholic Church and Christianity as a whole these days? Why the constant spin? If man evolved from lower forms then there is no possibility for the  alleged "fall" which the entire Christian hypothesis is founded upon. Therefore the whole Jesus story becomes worthless, at least with regards to a "savior" and the need for "redemption". Why don't those that are trying to force the theory of evolution into the bible get this? When the pope basically accepted evolution some years back, did he write anything about the genealogy in Luke that connects Jesus to the first man in something like 45 generations?. . . .Isn't it crazy to reject the foundation of your beliefs, and then still hang on to your beliefs?

As regards the verse u quoted, Isaiah 45:7; u quoted out of context. The Bible (God's Word) can only be rightly interpreted with the Spirit of Wisdom & Revelation from the Greater One (or Holy Spirit); so a non-believer would most likely mis-interprete scripture. (Eph.1:15-18, 2Tim.2:15)
If u study the preceding 6 verses, u'd see God was referring to enemy nations of Israel in the Old testament (also the Old Covenant). We are New Testament (or New Covenant) believers because the New Covenant is established on better promises with Jesus Christ as the Mediator!!(See Hebrews 8:1-13). Hence, ONLY THOSE THAT ARE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE SONS OF GOD WHO CAN THEN UNDERSTAND & INTERPRET THEIR FATHER'S WORDS. (Rom.8:14, 2Tim.2:15)

As regards Healing, no man(or pastor) can heal; my father God is the Healer!! He works through men. The fact that a Bishop & other believers died doesn't change the nature of my Heavenly Father - He Changeth Not!!

Whether or not u believe, I know (& so do many others) that our God is a Merciful God. God's Will is that ALL should be saved & come to the knowledge of the truth, thats why Jesus' second coming is seemingly delayed. (See 2 Peter 3:3-9, Mathew 24:3-14).

I'm also praying for your spiritual eyes (Blackcypha & Mazaje) to be opened (every man is spirit), so u would accept Jesus as your personal Lord & Saviour & then come to the knowledge of what He did by dying & resurrecting from the dead, through God's Word!

They are not used to having their pet beliefs questioned. . . . .Of course both the bible and the koran always demonizes anyone that doesn't believe them, it is a tactic related to dehumanization whenever you need to denegrate a target. The bible and the koran for example, calls anyone that does not believe their hypothesis - a liar, evil, the enemy, anti-christ, fools, pigs, dogs, beasts, and perverts. It is not confident enough to allow the outgroup that do not believe to exist unmolested, hence the need to reinforce the ingroup mentality with what is typically used by hate groups as a form of propaganda. It is simply sad that both the bible and the koran do this and the adherents of both religions that believe this books are sacred engage in it themselves towards others in place of any discussion.

It's really that most people are so desperate to hang on to their own superstitions and the superstition of others that they excuse the dangerous unfounded beliefs of others and make it a virtue. Let's give religion the same level of scrutiny we would give a government, corporation or other human related feilds of knowledge or work. I think the fact that we don't is evidence that we don't actually take it seriously people just want to preserve the idea of it.
