The israelites were not allowed by God to mix up with other nations because of their tendency to adopt foreign idols and forsake the God who chose them. It didn't mean God viewed them as superior. God wanted to wipe them out completely several times because of sin.

Did you watch the piece yourself. . .It does not say it is the tomb of Jesus , it uses words like "some believed Jesus was buried there"," it is said by some that he was buried "here, it is assumed etc. . .It ust reports on the two alleged tombs. . .Does not say which is which. . .This tomb has no evidence at all to support it. . .The tomb is way too told to be that of Jesus. What am I t do with people's subjective beliefs?. . .People just got some unfinished tomb that dates long ago outside the walls of Jerusalem and decided to name it the tomb of Jesus and deluded sheep like you decided to buy it. . .

But is the Garden Tomb really the tomb of Jesus? The main reason some people think so is that early accounts of the burial (e.g. Hebrews 13:12) describe it as occurring outside the city walls. And today, the Garden Tomb is outside the walls while the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is within them.

However, the city walls were expanded by Herod Agrippa in 41-44 AD and only then enclosed the site of the Holy Sepulchre, so both sites were outside the walls at the time of Jesus.

However, scholars are generally agreed that the Garden Tomb is not the actual site of Jesus' burial. According to Jerome Murphy-O'Connor, "there is no possibility that it is in fact the place where Christ was buried." Holy Land specialist Dr. Carl Rasmussen comments, "it is my opinion that the Church of the Holy Sepulcher preserves a more accurate tradition."

One problem with the Garden Tomb is that, based on its configuration, it dates from the late Old Testament era (9th-7th century BC). Thus it was not a "new tomb" (Matt 27:60; John 19:41) at the time of the crucifixion.

In addition, the burial benches were cut down in the Byzantine period (4th-6th century AD) to create rock sarcophagi, radically disfiguring the tomb. This clearly indicates that early Christians did not believe this was the burial place of Christ.

The site of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, on the other hand, seems to have attracted Christian devotion since before Constantine. (See under "Authenticity" in that article for more information.)

The wardens of the property (the UK-based Garden Tomb Association) stress that it is the resurrection of Jesus, not the issue of finding the exact spot of his burial, that is important. Regardless of its authenticity, the Garden Tomb is a fine place for contemplating the death burial of Christ and certainly more readily identifiable with the Gospel accounts than the dark and urban scene of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Which evidence does he have to show that Jesus was ever placed in the tomb apart from his baseless claim?. . .The tomb that most scholars and even the church tradition supports as the tomb of Jesus is the church of sepulcher and that one it self has so many holes, not this nonsense unfinished tomb that was discovered in 1980 by some fraudulent archaeologist looking for fame and money. . .

It depends on what you mean by god. . .I am a 7 when it comes to gods like Jesus, Yahweh, Allah, Vishnu, Ra, Zeus etc. . .All these gods do not exist and are a creation of humans. . .In fact all the gods of man made religions are man made so I know that Allah or Yahweh for example do not exist in reality because humans created and formed those god ideas. . .

I remember asking a Christian this same question a year back when I was, erm, still agnostic. His reply was that the TRUE sacrifice was 'GOD' becoming 'man' and taking the shame on the cross. His 'resurrection' is proof that he is GOD.

You can't show me because no such tomb exist any where, right now we have three alleged tombs of Jesus in Israel. I really want to hear Christians respond. How is it that you think Jesus actually died for your sins? According to this story, the guy didn't stay dead. What kind of sacrifice is that? In the OT the slaughtered cattle didn't come back. Now, a God named Yahweh supposedly made everything (knowing what would happen), and planned it all out so that it would happen just the way he wanted it to (his "divine plan" just so he could come down and sacrifice himself, to himself, then preach to some people in hell for three days only to come back to life? Does this honestly make any sense to you? If so, how? A real hero would actually stay dead. His sacrifice would be a true loss for him (i.e. - he would lose everything in order that we would gain) - but that is not what happened according to the bible. God didn't kill himself so that we could live. So, why should we think this story is true? Doesn't it just sound more like foolish men made it all up (just like in other religions)?


Christians, please help us non-believers understand why you believe this story (what good reason do you have) and why should anybody think it makes any sense?

Religion is culture, and its natural for people to get angry when you reject their culture and way of life, muslims go as far as killing people that reject that culture so that other adherents will be kept in line through fear. . .Christians can go as far but the christian religion has been weakened, so what they do is ostracize you completely. . . .
