TV/MoviesRe: Dance Movies In Nigeria? by McDoe(m): 7:22am On May 11, 2007
We actually need to improve on every aspects of our movies and not just dancing alone. We should depart from the present style of producing only "emotions-invoking" stuffs. Does it mean, we cannot produce a movie without necessrily creating sobs and crying scenes?

PoliticsRe: Obj Set To Make Iyabo Senate President by McDoe(m): 10:32am On May 07, 2007
She can never be. Reasons are not far-fetched. She is completely a new entrant into the chamber. There are a lot of people who know legislative functions more than she does. Lastly, the fact that she is OBJ's daughter will maker it difficult as so many Senators would see that as another doom being hoisted on them by the Presidency.

This is a big blow! it is said that he who wears the shoes knows where it pinches. I ve had similar experience in life. I mean loosing someone very dear. The healing actually takes time. But take heart as the Lord will be your strength at this point in time. I commiserate with you over this irreparable loss. Once more, take heart and trust in God. He will surely console you.

egoldman, I don't need to argue with you because your points are very cogent. Some of them are actually dubious. But considering the fact this delegation might have the backing of the Indian Government, don't u think that will make them to be honest in their dealings?

I would have scored him between 50 and 60% but for the latest news in ondo state where pdp won a senatorial seat but did not field a candidate, how on earth do you explain that,
This will remain an unresolved mystery. This could be the practice in other places of the country

pain, u have made good observations. To me, Prof. Iwu has compromised so greatly, and it shouldn't have been so. Now the opposition are calling for his removal. If at all he is removed, will it be healthy for democracy in this country; or we should just allow him to stay and conduct subsequent elections having in mind that he would learn from his experience. I score him -80% anyway

@Ola, Leadmyster
Apologies if i came across as rude. We'll get along better next time!

Now that we've got that out of the way. . .

Don't you see?! the answer is obvious. Elections are normally supposed to be free and fair and totally peaceful. Why report the mundane? it's when there's violence and destruction that it becomes a hot news item. Honestly, do you want to be told every single time a cow at obasanjo farms is milked? No! But we want to know if that cow develops mad cow disease! So why would it surprise you when stories of violence and oppresion fills the airwaves?
Good points! You are a very objective.

Wasn't it an American paper that reported on the prisoner abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison? Didnt the Virginia Tech shootings get lots of play in American media? SO let's stop with the 'Western media is targetting africans' story.
We musn't forget that lots of things happen in Africa that are incomprehensible to observers and journalists in the western world, like opposing politicians being arrested at a rally and beaten bloody (zimbabwe), MASSIVE rigging of elections (Nigeria), millitant attacks and kidnappings for ransom (Nigeria) etc. These make great news for their viewers.

At least i sincerely hope that none of y'all are weird enough to believe that Bush and Blair issue orders to CNN and BBC to tarnish africa's image for strategic reasons. if so, then you're no better than those waiting for aliens to come carry them in their spaceships, and second only to those geezers that line their caps with aluminium foil to prevent green martians from reading their thoughts  grin
Good points! You are very objective

The world has become a global village, a shift from the past. What was obtainable in the old cannot be the same now. So I believe we should welcome anybody with any business idea. In this situation, I don't think they are forcing anybody to do biz with them but on personal conviction. Remember, we stiil have some good indians. To crown it all, nobody is blind. It is either you take it or leave whatever idea they are coming to sell to us.

Dear Nairalanders, the elections has come and it is almost gone except, as expected, there will be post election litigations. One person who cannot be forgotten in a hurry is the INEC Chairman, Prof. Maurice Iwu. He claimed that the elections were 80% successful. If you would want to score him, how truthful is his claim and his performance so far
