PoliticsRe: Yaradua Back In The Country by McKren(m): 12:40pm On Sep 06, 2008
I pray for President Yar'adua

Not for him to get well soon, because most Nigerians dont know that he is sick and neither do I.

I rather pray for him so that he wakes up from this dishonesty and tom foolery.

He is fast turning out to be the most dishonest and rediculous civilian President in our country's history.

The first rule to being a republican is never agree you were wrong.

If the situation were reversed, God knows Rush Limbaugh will have a field day with it.

I can also immagine John McCain's response as being either, "we wanted to have a little fun" or "u gotta keep your sense of humour".

Kobo

Republicans make too much noise about God, evangelism and family values. When they make all that noise they throw reality of the world we live in to the wind.

Please what does it say about Sarah Palin's family values if under her watch her 17yr old gets pregnant, what does it say about her family values if knowing that she has a 5 month old baby with down syndrome and a 17yr old pregnant teenager she goes ahead to accept nomination for VPhuh?

Don't you think this woman need to pay more attention to her familyhuh

It smacks of hypocrisy when you go about proclaiming that you are a social conservative and lecturing the rest of the country how they should lead their lives when you have not been able to keep your own house intact.

the issue is as far as this news is concerned there is no credible source

Most of the news organisations in Nigeria are in agreement with the Presidency that lying to the public is the way to go.

I think there is no need to personalise the office of President

While I hope that he survives this at least for the sake of his family, I think the President should honestly question himself whether he is fit for command and act appropriately. If possible resign from office.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Signs Nuclear Agreement With Iran by McKren(m): 12:55pm On Aug 31, 2008
I quickly want to point out I am an electrical engineer. And I should be able to speak on this. I will just give you a clue to who is speaking with you. I joined IEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) about 2 decade ago.    And no electrical engineer that has is head on is head will ask president Yar adua to sign that agreement with  Iran.

1. first you may want to know how does nuclear power station work. they work base on uranium. where do you expect Yar adua to get uranium from.  Even nation with nuclear plant have problem in access of uranium. Why don't you go and find out the price of Uranium out there,  they do not come cheap,
Even Mohamed El-Barradai did not study sciences in school let alone Electrical Engineering. . . . . . . lol

I do agree with most of your points though. We have less controversial means of generating electricity if we are serious about doing anything about Energy.

It is also important to point out that Nigeria has Uranium deposits in commercial quantity in states like Cross River, Adamawa, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi and Kano.
PoliticsRe: Us Vs Iran: Which Way Nigeria? by McKren(m): 12:15pm On Aug 31, 2008
not sure its a good idea to get into the middle of the Iran vs USA debacle regardless of what side you pander to

We can aquire Nuclear technology if it is so necessary from countries like China and Russia. But come to think of it is Nuclear technology a good idea in a country where health and safety is zero.

I believe if we are truly honest and serious about energy production we will produce enough energy as necessary from all sorts of less controversial means.

If my mother cooks a meal that even she finds too poisonous to eat, I don't think I will find it funny.

So too am I not suprised that Nigerians are not finding it funny that the President goes abroad for health treatment when the rest of the country is exposed to despicable healthcare system. Yaradua was Governor of Katsina for 8years, I don't know why there is no credible hospital in Katsina.

And may be Kobojunkie is right, maybe some prayers are better off directed to the helpless people who need it as the only solution.

Ibime:
Firstly, I am Ijaw so if anyone is happy to support Goodluck, it is me.

My guy, you should know that Ibo are my brothers and my forefathers are Ibo. Just as the descendants of Jaja of Opobo are Ibo, so am I. This is no debate. I am just saying that wouldn't it profit Ibo to work together with other tribes rather than this stand alone policy? You must admit that you scored a serious own goal by not supporting June 12th. Think tactically.
My brother lets not go into the history of tribal politics and re-open old wounds

We the Igbos have moved on, and I can't be more proud of my people. I grew up first hand in PH so I don't think whether an Opobo man need to remind me how much love they have for the Igbos.

All I am saying is it is inconsistent to make so much noise about Nationalism and yet promote sectional politics.
Democracy is all about the will of the people, that will is best served by every individual choosing for themselves what best serves their interest and interest of the Nation.

This idea of celebrating the North, South-West, South-East, or South-South sticking together is outdated and is in no way in the interest of Nigeria. Because often times those decisions are not taken based on what best serves the Nation but based on prejudices as religion, culture and language.

And by the way you want me to think tactically, I will advise you to think strategically. So long as tribal and ethnic politics continue in Nigeria, there will always be one winner. Your guess is as good as mine.

Make yawa gas first. . . .you go see how tory go change.

Typical Ibo man doesn't know how to play the game. . . .you had a chance to mend all rifts with the Yoruba by supporting June 12. . . . instead, you chose to sit on the sidelines and laugh that the Yoruba are getting their comeuppance. . . . let us see what will happen next time you need Yoruba help. . . they will desert you like in 1966. Iboman loves to win the battle, but will never win the war. . . .you can never realise your dreams without working with others.
That is the issue, the next minute you will start lecturing me on unity of Nigeria and Nationalism. See how you are promoting tribal politics for the sake of tribe. How about defending Goodluck Jonathan because the constitution says so.

What is killing Nigeria and will continue to kill Nigeria is this kind of politics. Where one ethnic group take politcal positions based on tribal sentiments. Now you want the Igbos to be your allies against the North, tomorrow you will form alliance with the North against the East.

How about standing for what is right for Nigeria at all timeshuh?? which in this case is having the VP replace the President.

Ibime I think you are politically naive, let us not get into tribal debate ok.!!!!

What do you think will happen if another Southerner is denied Presidency like MKO? That one go pass play. All oil companies will burn overnight and the disturbance will spread to Ibo land. Nigeria better pray that Yar'Adua is fit enough to finish his term.
While we in the East will stand for the truth like we always do (which is the VP should by default will replace the President). Nobody in the East is ready to fight for anybody because of Nigerian politics.

So show some respect to the word Ibo Land.

First, I wish Yar'Adua well and I look forward to seeing him back sound and health.

For some reasons, I truly do not think the VP has what it takes to lead this nation. He reminds me of a powerless secondary school Vice principal.

It would make more sense to re-do the presidential election; but this time around allow voters to fully control the out-come. No need to waste money on determining who is qualify to participate.
Do you mean if the election of Yaradua is cancelled or if Yaradua unfortunately passes awayhuh?

do you consider any need to respect the constitution in making your conclusionshuhhuh

I would expect that if Yar'Adua were to pass away,Goodluck will serve out the rest of the remaining term before power is transfered back to the North in the next presidential elections.
I think that is a fair argument

In that it keeps the constitution intact as well as sustaining the only reasonable policy by the PDP as a party which is zonal Presidential rotation.

the biggest fraud of this political dispensation is anti-objism

You can perpetrate any fraud you like, so long as you claim it is against Obj it becomes politically correct.

Not sure I want to get into Obj/Ribadu debate, but if the mess Ribadu left is to tell thieves to stop looting their state fund . . . then its not rocket science to know that if the youth of this nation have such mindset then Nigeria is doomed.

SportsRe: Vansekin Caused The Defeat For The Dream Team by McKren(m): 10:59pm On Aug 25, 2008
Football is a game of 11 players, when you win it is as a result of people's effort and when you loose it will be as a result of somebody's error. I do not think Vanzekin should be murdered for coming out because there was no way he would not have come out in that goal that Di Maria scored.

However, Vanzekin's fault might be the timing of his coming out and that is something he has to work on. But I think the defence fell flat in that attack and its unfortunate that the only time we had a clear defensive error, Argentina pounced.

For me what I think won the match for Argentina is not that error but a sense of belief amongst the argentines that it was their right to win. They attacked more while our players sat back a lot. If we went for it in the first half when we had those chances we would have scored and probably the nature of the finals would have been totally different.

I never believed we could win that finals by defending for 90 mins and dont understand why our players thought so. I also believed that if Ogbuke started that game the match would be different.

All the same I congratulate our boys for winning silver and wish them luck in their future endeavours. I also think most of these boys should be integrated into the super eagles.

DayoKanu

I second you. I think we should allow these boys graduate into super eagles immediately and prepare them for World cup 2010.
(And this is regardless of whether we win gold or silver on saturday)

I don't see any justification to hanging to the ANC 2008 players who were so sluggish and lacked any creativity.

Especially in midfield and attack, and probably going by Kanu's attitude to these boys may be he is even accepting the posibility.

Retired? Are you from La La land? This one na political retirement. But the chief of army staff had a hint sometime last month when there were rumours that powers beyond Yaradua are putting pressure on him to retire them involuntarily and he seems to be yielding.
That exactly is the issue!!!!

This joins a long list of worrying situations where a group of cabals are appointing everything for Mr President

Name them: IG, EFCC Boss, Chief of staff to President, Head of service, Head of BPE, principal secretary to aso roc and now CDS,CNS, CAS.

The next on the line is National Security Adviser

Siasia: We've been through hell(FIFA.com) Thursday 21 August 2008

To hear his players talk about him, you would think Nigeria coach Samson Siasia was a father, older brother or favourite uncle. "He's the best," beams Solomon Okoronkwo, while Victor Obinna can not hide his admiration for the former French and African club champion, who represented his country at the 1994 FIFA World Cup USA™, saying: "He's a legend; when he talks we all listen."

FIFA.com sat down for an extended and exclusive interview with the former Super Eagles captain on the eve of a classic Men's Olympic Football Tournament final with fancied Argentina.

FIFA.com: Here you are in the gold-medal match. What are your impressions of the team's performances so far?
Samson Siasia: We started a little shaky with our draw against the Netherlands, but since then my players have begun to listen to me a little more closely and we're defending better and scoring goals. I'm happy with our form right now going into the gold-medal game with Argentina.

You'll be familiar with Lionel Messi from when you coached Nigeria's Under-20 team against Argentina in the final of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2005. How do you stop a player like that?
Everybody knows about Argentina's players, about Messi. But we can't get caught up and I won't be putting anyone on his shoulder because that never works. We have to be careful not to commit the kinds of fouls we did in 2005 [fouls on Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero earned Argentina penalties en route to victory in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup decider]. So we need to be careful, but we also have to go and intimidate them, put a body on them and let them know we're there. As long as we attack with speed like we have so far and everybody does his job, we'll be ready to go.

You started with a goalless draw against the Dutch, but your strikers have come good since then,
We've been scoring some good goals, especially against Belgium [in a 4-1 semi-final win]. I'm happy with that. I would still say that we're a little jittery in front of goal. But we're working on that and I think we just need the boys to stay calm and focus on taking their chances quickly, but not rushing them.

Everyone was talking about the Argentina-Brazil semi-final as the 'real final.' Does it help to go in as perceived underdogs?
It's good to be going in as underdogs, of course! If you look at the polls, like 90 per cent think Argentina will win. That couldn't be better for us. The pressure will all be on them. We have good players and Argentina have good players. The difference is, all the pressure will be on them.

The players may not be under pressure, but you, as coach, are under tons of it back home in football-mad Nigeria. How do you handle it?
I handle it as best I can, and keep focussed on the job I have to do here.

Is the spirit in the team as high as it seems from the outside?
I've never known team spirit like what we have in this team. We have
this bond together that is something special. We've been through hell together, so to speak. A lot of these boys come from very tough pasts and very difficult circumstances, and here we are playing for a gold medal at the Olympics. We've suffered hardship individually and as a team, and we lost a few players along the way, but we are stronger for it.

Are the boys aware of just how big a moment this is?
The players know this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for them. In fact, it's even rarer than that. Most players never get the chance to play for a gold medal. They know that they'll never have this one back and they know how heavy it all is. If they win gold, their names will live on in Nigeria even after they die.

What makes African players - and Nigerian players in particular - special?
In Nigeria kids grow up playing for fun in the streets with their friends. They learn to express themselves early and it's that sense of individualism and creativity that makes the African players so special and so unique. There is a lot of that spirit in this team here in China. They play from their own past and with their own sense of self.

Which has been Nigeria's best game so far in China?
It would have to be the one against the Belgians (semi-final). They took the Italians apart in the game before that, playing a man down. We shocked them 4-1, we just put pressure on them all the time and it could have been 6-1. We did make a stupid mistake to concede the free-kick that led to their goal, but this was a good game for us. I was pleased. Hopefully though, we've saved the best for last.

No need for long debate, Shola Odunfa of the BBC says they were sacked

If you think he is wrong, show us ur proof: i.e. 1. What the Military law says about retirement; 2. The age of these service chieves; 3. How long they have served; 4. Justify the retirement in accordance to the position of the law.

Anything short of that, you will have to explain to us why anybody should take you more seriously than the BBC.

They are all due for retirement, in case you don know sir. There are two conditions for retirement in Nigeria, i.e. age and/or years of service
Let us hear some of your proof, I am willing to learn

I will be shocked to know that Nigeria's CDS, CAS and CNS do not even know their own retirement date.
These guys planned a military officers retreat that was supposed to hold in Kaduna before there were sacked. Guess what that retreat has been postponed by the Minister of Defence, Yayale Ahmed, that is just to tell you that this development was unexpected.

If it were an expected retirement why were they planning a military retreat instead of their handover ceremony?

Is'nt it questionable to you that 3 service chiefs who joined the Army 1972, 1973, and 1974 (1 year gap in between) retired on the same dayhuhhuh?

Mr Investigator they were sacked
