At this rate we will so reshuffle the reshuffled cabinet.

That way the news media will be busy without the Presidency achieving anything fundamental

By 2011 President Yar'adua will announce that he left excess of 20billion in the federation account and for that reason deserves a second term. Why wont he have excess when he has not done anything in terms of roads, hospitals, schools.

Anybody still in doubt how Yar'adua saved 6billion for Katsinahuh

when we AFRICANS wake up from this 'stupid' appointment by WEST.

They know we cherish such and use it well on us.

Yet, when you see faces of poverty, WAR etc it is BLACK.

Soludo basically STONE $450million for AFC = asked by UN to join whatever Finance

OBJ basically STOLE $16Bill for POWER = asked by UN to join whatever in congo

wake-up!!!
I think you need to wake up

researching whether the AFC has any links with UN will be a good start

or researching whether the UN has a stake in the supposed 16bilion used for power project is another good way to start

PoliticsRe: Yaradua Sues The Media For Defamation by McKren(m): 3:20am On Nov 11, 2008
This goes to show how dumb Yar'adua and his aides are.

So long as they go to court to debate Yar'adua's health, they are simply keeping the story alive.

And you know the way nature works . . . . . . the same week Leadership may be made to pay fine for defamation, Yar'adua may the same period be flown to Saudi again or Germany for medical check up.

And that will add to this President's lagacy i.e. "using the law court to suppress the truth about his health".

A smart team would have concentrated on working for the people, try to improve the health care system . . . . . . that way they will stoke-up sympathy and Nigerians will be wishing their President was healtheir and most Nigerians would have been praying for him either on Sunday or Friday mornings.

At this rate nobody will miss this President if he dies on his way to Germany or Saudi Arabia.

And you know whathuh if Segun Adeniyi honestly believe's that his boss is fit and healthy, let him publish his boss's medical records for the last 10yrs. That will put to rest all speculations.
Foreign AffairsRe: Obama The Anti-christ by McKren(m): 1:27am On Nov 08, 2008
People learn to think for yourself

These are the sought of thoughts that led people to sell most of their livelihoods in the run up to 2000 believing the world was about to end.
Well this is 2008 and the world is yet to end.

For me the centrepiece of christainity is "love thy neighbour as thyself". This guiding  principle was helpful in the days of Abraham, it will remain helpful 1 million generations to come.

All this books of revelations and talks about antichrist and end of times has and will always be contentious. I thought there has been enough inconsistencies for the Christain world to take escatologies with a pinch of salt yet people who don't want to think broadly will continue to find clauses in the bible to defend why they wont open their mind to evolving realities of the world we live in.

The concept of what Antichrist means or who it will be keeps changing from generations to generations and people still take this term seriouslyhuh
I still can not believe that anyone believe's in the concept of Anti-Christ in 2008.

I was also watching this guy during the PDP primary

Duke was blogging with Nigerians worldwide on the internet . . . . he had a big bus he was using to tour all parts of Nigeria . . . . there is every chance that he would have developed the needed frenzy to win.

He modelled his campaign on "hope and change" . . . . does that sound familiarhuh

But our country refused to respond and Obj shut him out.

We all know how Calabar became the favourite x-mas destination for most Nigerians . . . . . this guy would have done a lot better than what we have.

I honestly dont see American foreign policy towards Africa changing a lot under Obama administration.

However, I believe this will be an opportunity for some straight talk towards African leaders from the West. Albeit quietly.
I will expect President Obama to remind African leaders that there is nothing dignifying to be from that part of the world where everyone goes to, to show how charitable they are.

This conventional wisdom where Every government budget and make so much noise about aide to Africa, and yet not deliver on them or tie those aide to exploitation of resources may begin to have a second look.

this neither adds nor removes anything from this election but I somehow get tempted to think "Joe the plumber" and "ashley todd" where from same source.

It just happened that Ashley failed in her operation, otherwise John McCain would have gone on a Pennsylvania Ashley bus ride. Otherwise why did John McCain / Sarah Palin call Ashley immediately after the incident without vetting the story.

I still believe "Joe the Plumber" is a set piece.

U knowhuh I am not interested in the tax cuts I get today as a result of how much I already earn but more interested in some imaginary tax I will pay if I buy some immaginary company with some imaginary fund.

Being intelligent includes the ability to own up to the truth . . . . there is nothing wrong with owning up.

If Mr A was expecting a Governor to do more work on promoting Religion, even though he does every other thing right in the eyes of Mr A that Governor has failed.

If Mr B's priority is Education, if Government does every other thing right and does not do anything on education, Mr B can as well conclude that the Government failed.

If its supporting Businesses for Mr C, anything else other than that is useless to him.

So to make a Generic statement as a Government has failed without stating reasons and then go on to challenge everyone else to state why they think he has not is juvenile.

All we saw was an opinion without back up and bullying the rest of Nairaland to agree. It is even more unfortunate that he/she is even getting support from some of the smartest people on Nairaland.

dont know the state of Peter Obi's administration at the moment, I just think it is so not right to say a Governor has failed without saying why.

Analysis: Powell Obama endorsement aims at legacy
By MATTHEW LEE – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Colin Powell's endorsement of Democrat Barack Obama may have seemed a shocking about-face for the longtime Republican, but the move was entirely in keeping with Powell's reputation as a shrewd political survivor intent on retouching a legacy tarnished by his early support of the Iraq war.

With no apparent desire for a Cabinet job, Powell's endorsement could be read as the defection of a respected elder GOP statesman and war hero once considered a potential presidential nominee and running mate for Republican John McCain. But Powell's decision is in keeping with his resume as a moderate consensus builder, shrewd bureaucrat and a man disenchanted with his party's move to the right.

His endorsement was rumored for months and would have made a splash no matter when he offered it. By waiting until long after the political parties had chosen their nominees and running mates, he avoided being seen as a spoiler or a jobseeker. But by backing Obama as the Democrat rises in the polls, and by criticizing McCain as he drops, Powell also risked appearing more interested in backing a winner — underscoring his finely tuned political antenna.

But his move was little surprise to those familiar with his record.

In four years as President Bush's first secretary of state, Powell was a loyal soldier but grew increasingly disillusioned by ideological battles inside the administration over North Korea, the Middle East and even seemingly tangential domestic policy issues outside his portfolio.

Powell presided over the creation of an unprecedented international coalition to fight terrorism after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States. It helped that Powell was an immensely respected figure abroad, with gravitas and a war record Bush lacked.

But 18 months later, Powell saw that unity collapse, along with America's image overseas, over the US.-led war in Iraq. Powell supported the war, albeit with reservations, and evangelized for it at the United Nations in a speech he came to regret.

Throwing his clout behind Obama, a fervent opponent of the war, could be read as an attempt to rehabilitate himself for that flawed claim at the U.N. on Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction.

"We, unfortunately, have left an impression with the world that is not a good one and the new president is going to have to fix the reputation that we've left with the rest of the world," he said when he endorsed Obama on Sunday.

Yet his public declaration of support for Obama contained no apology for Iraq beyond his regret at being misled along with others by faulty intelligence. And, he avoided criticism of any foreign policy issue in which he played a role as secretary of state.

He fought, and lost, for continuing the Clinton administration's talks with North Korea and for trying to restart the Middle East peace process. Bush in his second term has embraced both, but Powell mentioned neither in endorsing Obama, who favors them.

Instead, Powell spoke in general terms about improving America's dialogue with the world, offering apparent support for Obama's willingness to speak with foes, something Powell was himself denied the chance to do. "This is a time for outreach," he said.

But, in fact, Powell's "Meet the Press" endorsement was far less a renunciation of his foreign policy past than it was a repudiation of a Republican Party moving too far to the right for his tastes long before he left office in 2005.

Powell championed Bush's "compassionate conservative" candidacy in 2000, but on Sunday said: "I don't think it was as successful as it might have been and, as you see from the presidential approval ratings, the American people have found the administration wanting."

Strains between Powell and the president's more ideological senior aides and supporters became evident within months of his becoming secretary of state.

Social conservatives attacked him for promoting condom use, instead of concentrating on abstinence, during an MTV teen event early in the administration. Powell aides recall he threatened to make public the huge numbers of condoms the US. government distributes overseas unless the attacks stopped. When religious broadcaster Pat Robertson, one of Bush's most prominent conservative supporters, suggested blowing up the State Department with a nuclear weapon, an enraged Powell sent an angry protest letter to Robertson, telling him to back off.

And former aides say Powell had deep reservations about the impact of Bush's education policies, particularly because of his earlier, and now current, work with his wife, Alma, on America's Promise, a group devoted to improving the lives of youth, especially minorities.

Some see race as a primary reason for his endorsement of Obama, although Powell denies it and says if that had been his motivating factor, he would have made the announcement months earlier.

But, as the son of Jamaican immigrants who rose through the ranks of the military to become a general, the first black chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and the first black secretary of state, Powell has always put a high premium on minority inclusion.

Thus Obama's message of unity clearly resonated with Powell in much as the way the McCain campaign's recent tactics troubled him.

"We have got to stop polarizing ourselves in this way," Powell said, aligning himself with a candidate he believes will "electrify our country" and "electrify the world."

Dayokanu

Colin Powell worked as hard as he could to prevent the war, he made his decision to go to war based on the information available to him. It so turned out that those informations were false and probably spinned by those who wanted to go into Iraq anyway.

I believe the General gravely regrets the role he was made to play. But what he wont do is say this publicly, at least not when the same war is still going on. He can only play whatever role he can to end the war.

And by the way Powell was more of a moderate voice in the administration. He does not believe America should choose which leaders to talk to, he believes military force should be used only as a last resort. So to put President Bush's failures squarely on the man is not fair.

And I would have still held this view even though Colin powell ended up being John McCain's running mate.

Go on youtube and view his reaction to the Georgia vs Russia conflict and what he makes of McCain's comments that "we are all Georgians" you will get a sense to his approach on foreign relations.

Powell is a useless fellow.

Only a poor student of history will trust or believe this guy.

He is a yes sir man! House Slave.

He lied to the whole world that saddam has weapon-of-mass destruction when we know the countries that actually had this weapon.

He should be held responsible for the carnage in Iraqi.
my brother government is very big, it is very easy to be drowned out if you are on the wrong side of the agenda.

I also believe it is too simplistic to summarise Mr Powell's life with what happened in Iraq.

This man is an Army General, a former National Security Adviser, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of staff and then Secretary of States.

I will be satisfied with half of his accomplishments.
