He probably plan to continue borrowing to keep his base happy because most of them are poor. Now that they won't lend him money again until he does the needful, he has no choice but to do what he should have done a long time ago.

Whether it's late or not, the bottom line is, subsidies are not sustainable, we must kill it immediately. How can we be spending 1 trillion on subsidies but 150 billion on education?
You mean Buhari never had any plans on turning around the economy pre-2015 and up until recently? I rather catch a lion than take up the job of defending Buhari, it's obviously the hardest; makes one sound dumb.

Buhari may be worst in many areas, but are you aware that despite oil selling averagely above $100 in his tenure and the govt receiving almost 3-4 times more revenue than any other administration, GEJ's government in 5 years borrowed just about the same amount of money which Buhari has borrowed in 5 years?... I'd be damned if you know this cos 99% of Nigerians dont. We live and analyse data purely on sensational and political headlines.

If Nigeria couldn't survive without borrowing when oil was $100, then why exactly is anyone surprised that we have to borrow now that oil sells for $30-40? Oh I forgot, it's because Buhari is a dullard.

Oil price is down, country's revenue is down, Nigerians dont want to be taxed, Nigerians dont want fuel subsidy to be removed, Nigerians dont want electricity subsidy to be removed, Nigerians dont want educational subsidies to be removed, Nigerians dont want roads to be tolled, and we dont also want govt to borrow despite the low oil prices/revenue? Are we sure we arent a confused nation? Maybe it's truly Buhari's fault, he should miraculously mint money.
You dare ask Nigerians to make sacrifices even with the poverty ravaging the land? What sacrifices has the government made?

The recovered loots, increased VAT, borrowings, oil sales, customs revenue and all other sources of government earning; where are all the monies going to? Are you borrowing to fund the luxurious life-style of government and her cronies?

Most if not all African economies fall victim to the IMF because their sources of income have problems.....

First, most African countries rely on selling raw materials and commodities to the global market

Second we use the income from the sales to import goods and services, including some that we can produce on our own at a value that is higher than our income

Third , we don't control the price of the raw materials we sell. Prices of crude oil are determined in London and New York

Fourth, we spend billions on subsides and other socialist welfarist projects which end up costing more than we estimated because of our growing population and low tax base

Fifth, we tolerate corruption, both at the low and also by the big men and women. And most of the money stolen comes from loans taken

All these puts us into deficit and into the hands of the IMF and the world Bank.

Nigeria is a classic example.

We could be free.from the IMF, but because it involves fighting corruption seriously.and cutting subsides seriously, and becoming an industrial economy which means an initial period of hardship, we refuse to take those routes.
Drop the excuses. Fashola said power which is critical to an industrialized economy, isn't rocket science. Remind me where we are on power today after 5 years.

Yes corruption bla bla bla, what has Buhari done about first cutting down governance cost? Our recurrent has done more harm than even corruption. Paying so much for an unproductive system?

See Emmanuel Udom taking practical steps to diversify the Akwa Ibom state economy, again what is Buhari doing? Borrowing and raising taxes?

Nigeria voted out PDP because of insecurity and corruption, but today we still have same insecurity and corruption plaquing Nigeria. To worsen issues, APC now added extreme poverty, unemployment and hunger to the equation.

So Mr. Shehu tell us why Buhari should continue his stay when there still is insecurity, corruption and now poverty.

It's not giving back to the grassroot, it is actually redefining the psychic of an average Nigerian that "agberoism," "thuggery," pays.
Local Government leaders and traditional rulers are grassroot mobilizers as well. Those institutions were created for purposes of carrying those at the local level along. Elsewhere community leaders as mayors and their sheriffs are carried along for such endeavours. Why naija matter dey different? If the local government isn't important, it should have been scrapped.

If Igbos are not proud of Nigeria, they should all relocate back to the East. That's when Nigerians and international communities will take them serious. Igbo's are in every part of Nigeria, leaving and doing their day to day activities with ease and peacefully. Yet you claimed Nigeria is inhabitable. Oga, relocate to your village.
When you say relocate, it becomes funny. Nigeria boast of being the largest democracy in Africa. Basic government teaches you that democracy thrives on putting critical decisions to a vote with majority having the day. Obviously all igbos don't want out of Nigeria; some of them have vested interest in the Nigerian project and may not want to relocate. Simple, put the Biafran ideology to a vote i.e the referendum many pro-Biafrans have been calling for. When you do that, you can now well determine if they want it or not. That appeals to reasoning, it sounds simple; but you guys make it seem it's so much of a big deal.

Go on nairaland, scout my history; you'd observe that I've always been anti-Biafra, but people have a right to choose, allow them do so.

And you calling for Igbos to relocate, I hope your tribesmen are not in other parts of the world, whether Ghana or Europe? If they are, then the joke is on you. As a group has right to choose their national aspirations and directions, so do individual persons within the group have a right to choose whether to be part of such aspiration or not.

So you think Nigeria breaking up will solve all this problems huh? all the bad people will automatically turn good because the country has broken up ko?
1. I never called for a break up. Read my post carefully.

2. If however a group of people choose to pull out, IT IS THEIR CHOICE! For crying out loud, as far as I can remember, choices are inalienable rights of individuals. Freedom to make choices is what distinguishes you from a domestic pet.
God/Allah gave man freedom to make choices; good or bad, you live with the consequences of the choices you make.

3. Nigeria staying together with the North monopolizing political offices doesn't make Nigeria any better. It's ridiculous to think that since the creation of the E.F.C.C, only persons from a section of the country has headed the institution. If you don't know, sense of belonging, a sense of the collective ownership of a country births patriotism. If a section feels short-changed, of course you'd hear people calling for a secession.

I think I've responded fair enough with great degree of civility. Now I ask you, are you proud of what Nigeria has become?

Biafra is a Pipe dream.
Let's for the sake of argument agree I am Igbo, question is what's the problem with you going your way? If Nigeria is a country to be proud of, do you think any group would want to pull out?

You know why "Freedom of Association" is embedded in the 1999 Constitution as amended? I'll tell you why, it simply is because it appeals to reasoning that a person or group has a right to choose who or what group to associate with. If the men in uniforms can figure that out, I wonder why democrats can't.

Why can't we sit down as a country and discuss terms of co-existing; and if any group feels like pulling out, what's the difficulty in allowing them do?

Nigeria is becoming more of a night mare in recent years.

Probably because he wasn't convinced with the DSS report.
It's 3 years on and DSS might have broken new ground to convince the President to authorize this action.
We all know that DSS would never have done this now without Buhari's approval.

Common sense should tell us all that Buhari was not convinced earlier. Is it not the same Buhari now?

But then it's funny how everyone is believing DSS all of a sudden.

Even those who used to bash the DSS before for bursting PDP politicians are now believing DSS.

So funny.
That's lame. 1st the DSS is an agency under the F.Gand not an arm of the opposition party, so why doubt his staff. If he doesn't trust their judgement, then no use having them.

Also, Buharis track record on appointments reveal that he is not critical on enquiries into the characters he appoints, else he won't be appointing dead persons into positions.

Lastly, upon the DSS raising allegations of corruption and considering Buhari's campaign mantra of zero tolerance for corruption, Buhari should have paused Magu's appointment, knowing what appointing a corrupt person into such office might portend for public's perception about his anti-corruption fight.

How many evidence Buhari gather before e rush Justice Onnoghen, former CJN to CCT?
The Presidency says the ongoing interrogation of the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, is to clear him of weighty allegations leveled against him.
A presidency source, who preferred not to be named, told State House correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, July 7; that the probe of Magu was an affirmation that nobody under “the present administration is above scrutiny’’.

The source, who could neither confirm nor deny the suspension of Magu as reported by traditional and social media outfits; maintained that the investigation of the EFCC boss was to reinforce the Buhari administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

He affirmed that the holder of an elevated office such as the chairman of the EFCC must be above suspicion.

According to the source, the Buhari administration would not prejudge anyone because it can be counted on to uphold justice and fairness.

The source said: “The panel investigating allegations against the Acting EFCC Chairman had been sitting for some weeks now.

“In consonance with the principle of fairness and justice; it was needful that the Acting Chairman be given the opportunity to respond to the allegations, which are weighty in nature.

Under the Muhammadu Buhari administration, nobody is above scrutiny. The investigation is to reinforce transparency and accountability, rather than to vitiate it.

“Accountability for our actions or inactions is an inalienable part of democracy. In such an elevated position as that of EFCC Chairman, the holder of the position must be above suspicion.

“There’s no prejudgment — absolutely none. The Buhari administration can be counted on to uphold fairness and justice at all times.”

A presidency source had earlier confirmed that Magu was on Tuesday afternoon suspended from office; following the ongoing investigation by the presidential panel, headed by retired Justice Ayo Salami.
Why was he not scrutinized when Saraki refused him on damning allegations from DSS? Was he above scrutiny then?

my personal vexation is that characters like T.A Orji will use this opportunity to wriggle out of the evil perpetrated against his people.

Every conviction instigated by Magu will now be questioned, this is really bad!
Question is, why should we have a selective fight against corruption? Was that what Buhari promised us? We need to stop shifting the goal post. Shalom!

1. oshomole was reluctant to appeal thinking it was joke, that an irrelevant five members will suspend a chairman, that is illegality, that is the reason he appeal after 72days, which is the reason he lost the case.
if he was serious about chairmanship, he would have appeal within 3days,
even at that, he would have still reversed the case even after 72days by relocating to aso rock.
oshomole is not desperate for chairmanship, and chairmanships is not a do or die.
2. obaseki has already lose because PDP can not win Edo state, obaseki going to PDP is a suicide mission. his political career has ended more embarrassing than ambode,
ambode is still a member of APC, but obaseki move from frying pan to fire. after PDP will dried up his ATM machine, efcc will still come after him, and obaseki must have bought his diplomatic citizen like madueke.
3.if oshomole had leave obaseki alone, he would have become Edo APC leader, obaseki would have be in control of APC Edo state, and oshomole cherish that political structure than chairmanship, it is that structure that is still making tinubu relevant, unlike oyegun who can not even command his poling unit, ward, and council. oshomole don't want to end up like oyegun as a former chairman without structure.
4. obaseki were able to influence 5 members from oshomole ward to illegally suspend him, because minority can not override majority.
obaseki is afraid to inaugurate the house because they're loyalist of oshomole, that means oshomole is still in control of Edo.
this 14 constituency are the area that vote against obaseki, even without campaign from oshomole and ize iyamu.
just go and follow obaseki to park his bags from osadebey avenue.
Your work is a little clumsy and full of assertions that you didn't put to strict proof, but I'll manage to respond.

1. Whether one day or 500days after, the point remains that Oshiomhole appealed the decision suspending him as a chairman. If he wasn't interested, he could have allowed it slide. Furthermore, it is not true Oshiomhole appealed 72 days after the ruling of court. Post a link proving that assertion of yours or desist from any further claim.

2. You never did show how Obaseki will lose Edo State abi na all elections APC run dem dey win? You also never did show how Ambode's staying in APC makes him better than Obaseki. If any, it is the other way round, as Obaseki still have a fighting chance to win the State,, he has succeeded in taking out a perceived god-father and has resulted in more persons respecting him; that has not been the case for Ambode who has so much been ridiculed.

3. Wrong. Tinubu and Fashola fell out at a time in Lagos, Tinubu left Fashola alone cause he knew people loved Fashola. Did Fashola end up taking over the structure? Answer this! Kenny Rogers said a good gambler knows when to "fold them, when to walk away and when to run."

It's also not true that Oshiomhole prefers his State structure. He cannot prefer State structure to national structure. No one wants to be a local champion. If he likes the State structure so bad,he will want to consolidate that.

5. It's like you are not aware how many L.G Chairmen, Ward Chairmen and House of Assembly members decamped with him.

I ask again, why has not the House of Assembly members impeached him, or are they also 5?
PoliticsRe: Salihu Lukman: Buhari Has Finally Rescued Himself From Party Godfathers by mcquin(m): 7:16pm On Jun 27, 2020

I will reply according to your numbers.
1.oshomole did not lose out in chairmanship,
he tenure would have still expire before 2023 and northern chairman would emerge
and he can still be nominated for Presidency instead of ameachi from south south.
2.is better for obaseki to remain in APC like ambode because this is his final death. that is why ize iyamu advised him to come back to APC if he like himself.
3.obaseki is liability, he can't even win his poling unit, ward and oredo council, even as a sitting governor, he has be losing oredo since 2016, and you said he is love by who?
APC has losing in oredo, Egor and ikpoba okha because of liability obaseki even as a sitting governor.
4.as I said before, oshomole structure and ize iyamu structure can defeat anybody in Edo state,
if not for oshomole, ize iyamu would have defeated obaseki without mercy.
5.that will be the end of APC if they lose Edo and ondo.
so don't bothered about APC leadership .

lastly, I don't mingle with ipob with a bottle of beer.
Won't want to go on this merry-go-round with you so I'll stay on two issues just as numbered.

1. If Oshiomhole was satisfied with being sacked as the chairman of the party, Afterall his tenure effluxes before 2023, why did he appeal the decision of the trial court in the first instance? Why en no go house like that afterall en term go expire?

2. You saying Obaseki should have stayed back is laughable. Has Ambode not become a laughing stock? How has he benefited from his staying back? If Obaseki loses out tomorrow, it's with pride cause he did not go down alone but gave Oshiomhole the embarassment of his life. And it isn't even certain that he will lose. This cannot be said of Ambode. If Ambode had fought and brought Tinubu down with him; it would have been a thing of pride. Losing out with his heads high.

Let me just quickly address 3, 4, 5.

3. You call Obaseki a liability and political neophyte, but he has just brought down the leader of APC who would have still been there if he had left Obaseki alone.

4. Oshiomhole no longer has a structure else he wouldn't have been suspended by a ward chairman. Look at the House of Assembly of the State, he doesn't even have a say else Obaseki would have been impeached, are you following?

If you are in Edo, you'd understand the love Edo indigenes have for Obaseki. Ize Iyamu won the 2016 elections truth be told; no one knew Obaseki then, but today because of Obaseki's giant strides, he's now way popular than Ize Iyamu. If you dey Benin, you go know. I'm here.
