.

A senior colleague of mine who travelled out was fond of posting regular pictures with his new white friends and colleagues. I later noticed that he hadn't posted a new picture in the last two years but was still quite active online. I couldn't even find his sister's handle online anymore grin.
grin Hehehe. That's wise of him. You will be surprised the flood of messages he has in his inbox. He quickly caution himself to stop posting pictures. You know all those pictures where you will be looking so fresh. That shows you are living well. And the request will start flowing in.

Wise decision he took.

She's not. Damn serious. She's bn quoting guys even telling them to dm her.
The babe is just hustling to leave Nigeria. But any guy who fall for this should know she is not doing it for love. So even if any guy marry her and takes her abroad, that marriage is built on false hope definitely. No love.

Nothing beats when you meet a girl on a normal note, become friends and graduate from there. With that you know that she wasn't after personal selfish interests.

But once a girl takes interest in you because you based abroad, just know that she is after papers. She just need someone to file for her. And once she lands and well settled, she will take off. She might even be going out with Oyibo guys under your very roof.

The issue of staying or living n making it abroad is just God's grace, favour and hard work because u can b in UK n not b OK,u can be in US n b USeless. Some persons will stay here for years n still will b like a puppets in Nigeria. As long as all fruit can't grow in one country, so making it abroad is not for everyone. Pray so that God will show u where u belong like Isaac in the bible so that ur case wouldn't b like Naomi n her family. Shalon
While I won't object the grace of God in making it in life, let me still point it to you that you can actualize all your dreams if you have clear cut plans. You can't just make it if you do not have set goals and work towards them.

Making it in life doesn't require one sitting dormant without upgrading one self. God will only support you if you take action to make life good for yourself.

That's why even the Bible said; faith without action is nothing. You must back up your faith with action. That simply means you must upgrade yourself. You must always look out for new opportunities. You must acquire well sort after skills. Nothing comes by luck without an atom of work behind it.

When God sees that you are doing all you can to make life comfortable for yourself, only then he will come in to make things easy for you. So that a journey that will take you 5yrs to achieve, you will end up achieving it within just 3yrs. That's where the grace of God comes in.

In essence, one must take action for God's grace to locate him. A dormant person that refuses to work or upgrade himself positively, no amount of the grace of God will be sufficient to make life better for such person because he refuses to work or upgrades himself.

If one doeasn't take action, mannas will not fall from heaven for such a person on a platter of gold.

Once abroad resist the urge to post pictures. Find your parents something from time to time. Finish.
That's the mistake people make. They post pictures on Facebook and before they know it their inbox is filled with how far na? Oboy u don yakpa? Abeg push me small thing na ma take hold myself tight abeg.

If they can keep their life private, I bet no one will know they've travelled out. Imagine having some old pictures dated back to 2009 in your Facebook account, who will even have time to view your Facebook to know you've travelled out?

But by the time you start uploading pictures with oyibos on the background, such person is already drawing attention to himself. The rate family and friends will fload your DM, you would be surprised yourself and confused as how come?

But the thing is that no matter how one tried to hide it, some persons will still know you are no longer in the country.

I think the best thing here is that, instead of giving out cash, the young ones among them, set them up in a little way. I mean paying for any skill for them through their parents. I believe in empowerment than dishing out cash.
Exactly! I will prefer to teach someone how to fish so that he can carry hook to the river and catch fish himself rather than giving him fish every time. I don't have that time.

Abroad people call me every weekend asking me to send money (not bragging). Many of them are frustrated over there. They work long hours including overtime but the government takes federal, state, city, social security, medicare, medicaid and disability taxes. On top of that, when they buy biscuit, they will still take sales tax. They pay exorbitant rent; those who "own" homes are locked in a loan repayment for 30yrs of which they still have to pay annual taxes for their house. Phone bill can cost over $60 per line, cable $120, internet $80 and they still pay tax on top of it. Burger and chips with soft drink can easily cost you $16 plus tax.

Sure some folks are making over $100,000 theoretically especially healthcare workers in expensive states like California and new York, but by the time they deduct all those taxes from their check, they are left with just $40,000. Then they still have to pay more taxes on every thing they buy. That's not life. It's like a rat wheel, oscillating but not making any progress. I have a cousin who was in the same situation in America, after 10yrs working as a social worker, he returned home and we started up a business. He still regrets all the years he spent slaving away in America. Today, he travels the world on vacation and visiting places he didn't even have time to visit when he was living abroad. It's not too late for Nigerians living abroad to return home; you can make it big here with less stress and you will extend your life span.
This is an exaggeration. The fear of tax is the beginning of wisdom. Tax invasion is an illegal act.

I might end up marrying one if I eventually change my mind about marriage. cool
For now, I'm paranoid about marriage due to what I experienced as a child.
Bro, same thing I am still contemplating. On a serious note, witness marriages last longer. Going by what I am seeing in our society today of how fast marriages crashed, I might end up going for a witness girl. But the thing is that, you can't marry if you are not part of the organization. If we go by fidelity, give it to witnesses. Their wives will never do those nonsenses marriage people do outside their matrimonial marriages.

When I get to the bridge of marriage and she can't marry me cos she is a jehovah witness, then I'll find another love, there are so many girls on earth. One thing is that I can't believe in the shit jehovah witness teach, I engage her in arguments and she can't even defend what she believes in. I love her, that is what matters, if she can't compromise when the time comes for our love, then I'll gladly leave. Hia! Is that so hard?
The thing is that marriages these days are like gambles. So many divorces. But I have realized that witnesses hardly divorce and their marriages last longer than any christian group I have seen so far. Have you not noticed that? My aunt was telling me that if I want peace of mind, that I should marry a witness. I am beginning to see some lights in what she said. Their wives are always loyal. You will hardly see a witness wife being divorced due to infidelity except few of the young girls that are still in school do keep boyfriends. But once they get married, they are always loyal. And I have really been thinking deeply whether to follow my aunt's advice.

It is not necessary to have a serious relationship while pursuing your dream cus you can always find once you attain reasonable level in your hustle. Do not mind people saying you are a yahoo boy, they are living in old memory when you have to hustle forever before you can have small car. You can not convince everyone on what you are doing and you do not need, the only thing is that your conscience is clear.
The problem with finding a partner after making it in life is that you can't really discern the one that truly loves you. If you watch Gold Digger channels on YouTube, you will understand better.

It is not about circle of struggling immigrant it is about reality I have people doing well for themselves and i dont think i know anybody that is living on government support as far as I can tell. Read my post well and dont be emotional about it. Just so you know I work in one of the 3 largest tech companies in the world. So I have seen Nigerians living large here and i have seen people struggling as well.
With available data that over 40% of americans cant cover $400 emergency expense in your delusion those americans are all lazy. The guy we are talking about here is not a struggling guy he is living better than most Nigerians abroad.

At the bolded why are you deceiving yourselfhuhhuh Let start from salary what is the average in your so called UKhuh? How much money do you make with all your mouthhuh?? Can you show the guy if not us your salary and your apartment to tell him how large you live in the UK. How many of you in the UK earn 50,000 pounds p.ahuhhuh You can argue all you want this guy lives a better life than most Nigerians in the UK. Your type are people who the only thing they know back home in Nigeria is poverty you can dispute my claim with your payslip back home in Nigeria. grin grin grin. You are advising someone that lives as a freeborn in Nigeria and in a nice apartment to come and join you in your cubicle in the UK. SMH!!! My friends are all doing well trash you are talking about how many make 50k pounds p.ahuhhuhhuh How many Nigerians do you know and have you met in the UK with all your noisehuhhuh?

You guys will never tell Nigerians all the shit you passed through and are passing through everyday you only sweetmouth for them in your illusion of living abroad.
One thing you should know is that the naira is quite weak right now. Right now the naira is N390 per 1$, N478 per 1£ and N429 per €1.

With that, if you look at it from a realistic point of view, the N800,000 op get only have value in Nigeria. If you convert that to the listed currency, you will find out that op needs to really save alot to go on vacation abroad due to the weak naira. And you know he won't spend naira during vacations. And right now, Nigeria banks will sell dollars to you above N400 per a dollar.

So you see, going by the exchange rate, N800,000 only has value here in Nigeria and the standard of living here in Nigeria is quite low compare to other places. To me, no amount of money can be equated to having a better standard of living.

I've noticed on similar threads seeking migration advice to Canada that almost everyone advises leave the country and I'm like "is it so good in Canada?

The only reason I want to travel to Canada or any other high profile country is to make far more money than I make in Nigeria.

Now, by the Grace of God I earn over 800k monthly with promising potentials for more. I'm 32yrs and planning to settle down next year, but with so many advises saying "leaving the country to Canada is the best choice", I'm so confused right now as per what's the best choice for me. I even watched a video where a guy living in canada said he spent upto 400k monthly on expenses.

So, I want to ask and need advise from anyone living in Canada. Would you advise someone earning 800k monthly in Nigeria to leave for Canada?

Your input is highly appreciated.
My little input: if your reason of wanting to relocate is to make more money, then you really need to stay back. But if it is for quality standard of living then move.

But you already said your reason is to make more money. I will advise you to stay back as I really don't see that as a realistic criteria to relocate.

Exactly bro. A reasonable woman would have been thanking God for giving her all the ability to endure the man's overbearing attitude while in Nigeria because of the new life she found herself. She wouldn't have remembered the past let alone thinking of bringing the man down. Well, I blame the man for taking her abroad, did he not see the redflag?
Why not? He saw the red flags but you know, some persons always think they can change others even if such persons are not ready to change. That's why it is important to court a girl for a long period of time before thinking of marrying her.

During the courtship, both will see all the redflags of the other partner. If it is something that you can't tolerate and you know the person won't change, that's the proper time to end such a relationship.

But so many will always overlook those redflags. What they don't know is that a Chameleon will never change its color. It is after they get married to the person they will realise that they've made a great mistake marrying such a person.

Are you married too?

Did you ask God for wife when you wanted to get married?

How is the marriage doing so far?
I am not yet married. I am still contemplating. But the stories of all the marriage wahalas we read every day is really making me to think twice. If one really wants to meet a good life partner, one truly needs to involve God.

You can't do it on your own. In my private time, I do quietly make supplications to God regarding that telling him to direct me to meet the right lady. A lady with great wisdom who will respect her matrimonial marriage and build a perfect home with a man.

That's why once I meet a lady who is putting up unnecessary attitudes, I waste no time cutting myself off her. Just ordinary friendship, some ladies will be putting up their worst attitudes before you. That's a red flag. I waste no time with such ladies. I know they can't make good wives.

Those who have understanding partners don't know what God has done for them.

The career dilemma...

Many years ago I was where you are now.

I took the road less traveled. I settled for a career in Nigeria.

I got a job in a Big 4. Then moved on to an FMCG, where the perks are much higher!

On education, I got chartered, and I'm finishing an MBA.

On family, I got married to my best friend from University, and I just made my first baby.

Do I regret not moving to the US to join my mom, a US citizen?

I do. Every. Single. Minute.

Why? Nigeria is a very uncertain place to stay and thrive. You could be up there in the sky today and the next week you're back on the mud. In a country of many poor people, you run the risk of becoming a victim of crime due to envy...post COVID-19 it'll get worse.

Look at you at 30. You're dithering. You're pussyfooting.

Look at me at 28. I still regret the mistake my 25 year old self made. I'm pushing daily to leave Nigeria.

I want to leave, not because I'm broke in Nigeria, but the collective poverty in this country scares me...

Most crimes committed today are more out of envy and hunger than of greed.

If you can, please run. For your SAFETY!
On behalf of the Op I want to specially thank you for this advice.

TallNigerian read this post again and let it sink deeper into your mind. Never make a mistake you can avoid. Age is not on your side again. You are heading to 40 you know? So do the needful.
