MTN Lumos is a product of ignorance and a failed product clearly.

compare it with this one in the video grin this is a proper setup.

This will replace a small generator easily with no need for the owner to even know how it works

How many people buy generators and even know anything about it beyond pouring fuel. Thats the type of person i mean. If you know about cells and bus bar, you are not in that demographic
We have loads of good lithium solar generator in the market. Just ain't cheap. Hard to see a good lithium setup that is as cheap as a small petrol gen.

AshipaEk0:
When companies start building these things in portable packages like this without fancy needs, with clear ratings and capacities with protection.

One can imagine them coming in sizes and capacities like petrol generators.

then RE will gain proper traction in poor Africa

These fancy setups and builds that require Engineering degrees that you enthusiasts are doing are not the way forward for mass adoption grin grin grin grin

Then solar panels will be a standard feature in houses and you'll just bring your own gen and plug it in to charge
There's MTN Lumos . Also there's other easy DIY processes that those with little education can put together. Eg buying these 3.2V LFP cells and getting busbars and BMS does not exactly require an engineering degree to put it together grin

I want to order a phone from aliexpress, is it safe within this period as it it cheaper at aliexpress or I should buy from Nigerian stores but quite expensive
If you can't wait for 3 months for it to land using the normal shipping method, or use expensive courier like DHL, UPS, FedEx, TNT, etc then buy at Naija.

I rather do DIY than buy some of these fancy lithium packages. I first learnt about lithium on this group 10months ago and started researching and getting all the devices I needed gradually. Last week able to setup my 15s120p. 230Ah tested.
With plans for 5 rows of 15s expansion.
At least I know what am dealing with.
Covid 19 Lockdown helped sha.
I like this. You are doing well.

Hi guys, Is it just me or a lot of sellers have stopped shipping to Nigeria?

I spent the last 30mins trying to order a replacement screen(S9) but to my surprise none of the sellers are shipping here or could it
be aliexpress at work?
Some may have shipped to Nigeria in the past and due to the way our postal system is so slow lost money, they decided not to ship there again. But if you really want that, try using third party shippers..

Expertt:
I already have 25kva diseal Gen, am planning for 20kva Inverter but I need to know the number of 200ah batteries and 300w mono solar panels that will be able to run 12kw load for at least 12hrs
If you are NOT powering only the inverter, I'll suggest to either get a lower size inverter or upgrade the size of the generator. 20kva inverter and 25kva generator are too close especially when you consider that you may have like 3kva other loads, generator is not good to run at almost 100% capacity.

ojeysky:
100+80+50+150+(18x8)=524w
524x1.2(if we factor loss)= 628
You will need about 16KWH of backup for this. At 24v system, that translate to between 600 and 700AH Lifepo4 or 1200AH Lead acid (assuming you apply safety precautions).

Do you really want to have 524w all through 24hrs? I don't think so but you have a rough estimate to work with.
How did you type all these numbers without getting banned? grin grin

At the bolded, I meant to say Powerbank.

For hours of backup, I need at least 24hrs. I understand that NEPA might give light and also my compound has a Mikano that gives us light at least for 3hrs 4days every week.

I want to know how much I will budget for this project.
I really don't want to buy a generator, the noise alone is killing me.
Ok I see. Contact marketers for price.

This is a wonderful thread. I just came across this today. I believe my energy problems will be met here.

Can any one help me?.

These are my power needs
1. Max. 3 laptops
2. Max. 4 phones
3. Max. 4 20,000 (80,000) mAH
4. Bluetooth speaker (it can be charged)
5. Rechargeable fan
6. Reading lamp
7. Led light
8. A flat screen TV maybe.

It's a single room, I think I need it to charge with NEPA or Generator (Mikano).

How much should I budget based on my power needs and how efficient will the whole setup lasts energy wise and longevity wise?
Your load looks like less than 200w, what do you mean by the bolded?

Also you didn't state the number of hours backup you are looking at. But I can only suggest that the load looks like something two 200ah batteries and a 1 or 1.5kva inverter can handle. For cost, check with an installer or marketer.

One of the reasons I now go for external chargers. Over the years I have packed and condemned inverters with either bad chargers or bad inverters. Going together is NEVER a good combination.

Cheap Chinco "Reliable" I bought since 2016 is still doing the job, no chargers attached.
Yes o, the lesser the complexity the less likely something is to fail. Abi no be so?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 5:03am On Jun 07, 2020
Saipro:
In my early years of inverter use, I had two of those. They were lifesavers despite the horrid hum my ceiling fans gave off. Caused lines on my diehard CRT TV, even powered my fridge albeit with the compressor nearly going into thermal meltdown, forcing the use of external cooling. One was given out early (fixed then gave it out) while the other one is still alive about 20 years later, in a neighbour's shop. Each time they went to the repair shop, it was for charging issues, especially when charging high resistance/large capacity or failing batteries. Inverter side never had issues beyond blown fuses and noisy fans. Take note of the words in bold. Failure is invariably in the charging section.
I've seen like two of the chargers fail under one year. I know the chargers are always the issue, funny it continues its work as an inverter.
