You are all just wasting your time on this present Nigeria polity. If a restructuring blueprint is NOT put in place, go and wake the Noble Mandela, nothing is going to work... You can't build a castle on nothing and expect to be contained in it. If you believe an individual can propagate any positive change in this nation after all the trial and error, then you should believe anything. If you think you have a foresight, you should be fronting RESTRUCTURING and not this current futile choked and ineffective constitution. Let's decentralized all these power and see how every state will work for the betterment of her subjects. A word is enough....... |

Custodian of Olumo Rock deity dies at 137 Iya Olumo (the mother goddess of the rock) died on Wednesday at the age of 137. The custodian of the deity, popularly known as Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Sinatu Sanni, known as ‘Iya Olumo’ is dead. Iya Olumo (the mother goddess of the rock) died on Wednesday. She was 137. Her son, Solomon Adio, confirmed her passing to PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday. He said his mother died at her Itoko residence in Abeokuta after a brief illness. In the history of the Abeokuta settlers, Egba people revere the mountain for the natural refuge it created for them during the 19th-century inter-tribal warfare. It is widely believed that the rock, which is being worshipped by traditionalists in Abeokuta, is inhabited by spirits. The rock has also become a site attraction to tourists both within and outside Abeokuta. The deceased’s son said, “mama lived in one of the enclaves under the rock for more than 40 years where she served the gods of the rock. It amuse me when we cry over a lost soul, despite the inevitability of death on us all. And with the fact that someone will be pained and cry over our departure one day. The feelings is always mutual as a mortal, we all share this pain once our loved ones dies. My own dad died in my hands almost a couple of years now, my tears splashing out immediately but they were all gone after he was buried. Haven't being feeling it ever since, but I know a day will come I would be having a joyous event that warrant having a dad on sir, I might probably have some kind of pain on that day. I don't even understand much of this life, the more you think or try to rationalize it, the more it become more difficult to solve. We have no control over anything, not even your own soul, least talk of other person's or things. When the time comes, hopefully one would have fulfil a life ambition and move on..... |

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka , has called for the immediate sack of the Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja, Ibrahim Maqari. Naija News recalls that a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State, Deborah Samuel , was lynched to death and burnt over alleged blasphemy. Following the sad incident, the Islamic cleric insinuated that Deborah was responsible for her death by crossing one of the red lines of Islam. In a tweet via his Twitter handle, Maqari said if Muslim grievances are not properly addressed, then Nigerians should not be criticized for addressing them themselves. Reacting, Soyinka described Maqari’s statements as unfortunate and sad, adding that the cleric has backed the killing of the female student with his words. The playwright also stated that the Islamic cleric has directed his followers to take laws into their own hands through his comments Soyinka stated these on Saturday during the launch of the biography of the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru , in Abuja, the nation’s capital. He, therefore called for the removal of the cleric from office, saying that he does not deserve to hold any position following his unfortunate comments. He said:“To anyone who cares to listen, Maqari has implicitly directed his followers to take the law into their own hands in the name of religion, and in a nation beset on all sides by wars of ultra-nationalism and religious fanaticism. “That is the message of a supposedly holy man to youths, to us, his message to a nation embroiled in madness of multiple insurgencies. “The young woman, Deborah, he declared, deserved her death. This mullah, allegedly a man of learning, since his name is professorially captioned, says that there is a line, a red line that none of us must cross, no matter who we are, what we think, profess or value.” Soyinka called on Nigerians to desist from extending their religious predispositions beyond constitutional legitimacy, adding that the law should be allowed to take its course. “So there we are arbitrary lines crisscrossing, drawn by individuals and constituencies of beliefs and non-beliefs, of power and aspirants of power. Nowhere do the belligerents profess the common constitutional line and the boundaries of legitimate conduct that supposedly define the imperatives of cohabitation and respect for a human commonality known as – life. “It is time for all group interests to draw their lines, to decide where they intersect with others, where they run parallel, and where they diverge and/or snarl into a chaotic maze. If Professor Grand Imam Maqari can draw a line in blood, the rest of the community of equal rights must proceed to draw their own, but they will do so in less primitive, bloodthirsty mode, in full respect of human dignity. “That apostate of the creed of humanity, Professor Maqari, must be removed from office. It is no longer sufficient for all to declaim that Islam is this and that, that the Sharia is thus and thus, that Prophet Mohammed set this or that example and made this or that humanistic pronouncement,” he added. |

A Twitter user Oluwakayode shared his bitter experience at a redemption camp: I remember one day at Redemption Camp. After the service around 2am, I went inside the prayer foyer to relax. Laid beside a socket and plugged my newly bought phone. I don't know where that sleep just came from. Just 2mins doze ... As I opened my eyes, say I should check my phone and chat small, it was the charger I found. I don't know whether to cry or shout. I was speechless for like 5mins. But the joy was it was not only my phone they stole, it was a mass theft .I saw one married man crying that his laptop, wallet and phone have been stolen just after sleeping for some minutes, so many people like that. Omo, I just removed the charger, sat down and cry my own cry too. I trekked from Shimawa to almost half of the road before I saw someone who helped me to the main gate. I was stranded because my tf back to Ibadan was inside the phone pouch. I stayed for like 5haaas, before I saw one Trailer who helped me to Ibadan. Since then, I never trust anyone in church again. See people's responses below:

Is it not obvious that this old man has lost the the touch of time and far from the reality? He wants a regime who has continued and invented some of the all manners of insurgencies we've been having over the past 7 years without a forthcoming solution to start extending it for six, six months. What happen to changing our ways to have a diff result? Is it not glaring to the blind that nothing will come out of this regime's Nassaret? Baba should shift and for life abeg |
