Hello all, What is the estimated cost savings per block in molding blocks on site vs purchasing specially made blocks? For the sake of analysis, lets say we need 20k (twenty thousand) blocks and space is available on site to stack it.... 1) What is the best unit cost (and savings) we can achieve if we mold compared to buying from the market at btw N200-N220 per block? 2) What are the materials required and quantities to mold 20,000 pieces of 9" blocks on site? edit: Machine will be used for the molding due to qty required (over 20k) and to get good quality. Thanks for your contributions. |

The worst part is that his rate isn't even cheap. 180k for 30T granite isn't cheap at all, it's above fair market price and still he couldn't deliver or refund. i know he'll claim full truck load bla bla but it's all BS. The dude doesn't even seem willing to refund. Don't blame the client for calling him out as a fraud. Dubemcapital1: 1 Like |

This is what any serious minded builder/engr/developer/client should be doing. This is how i source my granite and sand supplies nowadays. it is not so much of a big deal like these people make you think. Majority of them are just "middle men" claiming "suppliers". Imagine someone claiming big time supplier that cannot replace ordinary two trucks delivery pending the resolution of truck issue. and they'll come here be claiming they do this and that. Morning all, I have a quick question to get your perspectives on "to liquidate some funds from MMF" vs "change some USD". Lets say i have an urgent need for N2m today and i have a MMF account funded in excess of that and also old some $$ cash at hand (which is needed in future). In a few weeks, naira will be available to replace either of the funds used of the two options above. Option 1: Liquidate 2m from the MMF account, top-up the account back when naira funds become available. i think current MMF interest rate ~ 12% Option 2: Sell of some USD to meet the need, buy back USD at parallel market rate when naira funds become available (n.b: spread btw USD buy & rates) Option 3: Maybe you should just give a soft loan for 2wks and problem solved. Thanks for your input. |

Going by four coaches, what does that bring your effective headroom to? over 3m? Have you seen any residential build go beyond four coaches? For some time now, we have been considering a really high headroom design for an upcoming project. diordaves: |

Hell all, I want to use gravel to beautify the space in front of the house under a tree, it will also serve as car park in cases of spillover. We have used interlocked stones before but the tree root pulls out the stones and makes it uneven, so we are considering using gravel. My questions are: 1) Which type of sand should placed under to prepare the floor before filling up with gravel? 2) Which size of gravel will give best results of good looks and hold the stones in place when vehicles park and drive in/out? Feel free to add any other comments of note. Thanks |

Please state why it is not advisable. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong in buying iron rods a month ahead if it is stored properly. The suppliers that you will order from do you know how long they've held those rods in inventory? The price of rods has been in steady increase until recently, so if i'm able to lock down for a good price then i'll take the option and keep in storage. metrecube: 2 Likes |

Hello all, After using membrane (nylon) on the DPC to protect the foundation, is it still necessary to use membrane on the suspended slabs (decking)? Is there any proven justification? Thanks 1 Like |

good. i went to one site and found about 4 different gravel types/sizes. i can remember some mentioned as 3/4" down, 1/2" and more interesting is the one called "rice". had a chat with the engineer and he said they use different one for different casting. what i found interesting is that they don't use the same granite for slab and columns. is this valid or just down to preference? segzy14: |
