I absolutely agree with you. The cheapest cities r in d north. You can still get a very good 2 bedroom flat in MOST northern capitals in very cool areas for around 150k. And we all know that's where most of d grains we eat come from. |

A floodgate of scholarships have opened for the five Anambra State girls from Regina Pacies Secondary School Onitsha who recently won gold at the World Technovation Challenge in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco, United States of America.
The brilliant African Golden Girls, Promise Nnalue (14), Jessica Osita (14), Nwabuaku Ossai (14), Vivian Okoye (14) and Adaeze Onuigbo (15) had on August 9, took the world by surprise as they turned the table against world technological powers like USA, Spain, Turkey, Uzbekistan and China to clinch the gold in the contest entered into by a total of 116 countries.
The golden girls who returned to the country on Monday after a week rest at in the US have become the toast of many world technology incline institutions, as many of them including a Turkish College have offered them scholarships.
This is coming just as the Anambra State Government has commenced plans for a big welcome party for the girls who under the tutelage of Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu, the Chief Executive Officer of Edufun Technik STEM developed a mobile application called the FD-Detector which would help tackle the Challenge of fake pharmaceutical products in Nigeria. Confirming this, on Wednesday, Mr. James Eze, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano said that the latest offer was from a Turkish College, which wrote the state government, asking for the girls to be released to them for scholarship award if they wished.
Eze said the state government has not taken any decision, as it was more occupied with giving the girls a befitting welcome.
The welcome party the Governor’s image maker said was one fit for queens for making the state proud adding that besides the party, the Governor was also planning a rewarding package for them. He said, “This is not football, this is not beauty Pageant, this is not Big Brother Africa, all of which may not need too much intelligence to emerge victorious, this is serious academic competition, and the girls competed with their counterparts from advanced countries and won. It is something that should inspire us that we are not limited by where we are coming from.”
Obiano he further said had upon receiving the news of their victory directed that the team relax in San Francisco and take a deserved rest for one week at government’s expense.

I think rats know places they are not welcome and they stay away. There are many rats around my compound and in my neighbours room but not one in mine reason: the moment I sight a single rat, I leave everything I'm doing, go into a protracted hunt and kill the pest in a MANUAL and most brutal way. I think the other around usually get the message and stay away afterwards.
Once you hav bed net, mosquitoes get frustrated and cant do anything to you. As for bed bugs, though not experienced it yet, people's experience narrative here scares the s**t outta me. |

These kinda things used to happen in societies we admire as developed now. The people (family, friends and activists) fought with their lives and such oddities were scrapped out of their societies. In Nigeria this guy has been killed now. The family will cry, curse and bury him without any concrete action to forestall something like this happening again. We are docile and the authorities know. I am so pained now. I can't even imagine such thing happening to any of my siblings. We are the architects of our troubles. See the young promising guy. So unfortunate. |

ajl: It's forgiving for the fact that Nigerians have been bastardized to the point that simple things to them are not possible here in Nigeria. If it's possible for one individual to steal $3 billion, which I know several other individuals are stealing in similar amounts, then why is not possible to pay N100k to civil servants. Sowore proposed to make June 12 a national holiday, few days later the federal govt out of no where implemented the same idea. At a gathering he said he would increase minimum wage and Corpers allowance. Immediately after the federal govt made a similar announcement. These are no lies. The videos and government response are all out there. The most depressing part of this all is that the same youths who suffer more than all are the ones rising up against the guy rather than the enemies of the people.
There are about 90,000 federal civil servants (2015). At a N100k per month, that's just N9 billion. Minister Adeosun claim monthly salaries of civil servants is N165 Billion but admitted that many of them are ghost workers. For example in National Railway Corporation alone which is moribund and not adding value to the economy except for recent skeletal services here and there, there are 10,000 NRC workers. What this tell you most of the salaries government is paying goes to ghost workers. If these leakage are blocked, higher salaries is feasible for genuine civil servants. I really get tired talking to fellow youths these days in Nigeria. Most of us believe in failure and some simple strategic thinking capacity is herculean for us. That was how one goat the other day in final year was busy justifying her position of not even collecting her pvc based on the forced mentality that votes dont count and we MUST choose btw buhari and whoever PDP will field again. These old rascals know MOST of us rudderless youths think like this and it gladdens their heart. I am still torn between sowore, durotoye and moghalu on whom to vote. I think these guys should merge, produce one outta the three and get a smart northern youth on the ticket. God help us. |

See how people are just insulting and deriding this guy without any substance for daring the establishment that has held us down for this long. The worst part is that most of them here know PDP and APC are taking us nowhere but they are naively bringing up stupid clauses like 'experience' to soil him. Goan vote Atiku or Buhari and lets continue the cycle. Foolish youths with no future who hav also mortgaged that of their children. |

omohayek: I have to wonder about those of you who insist on dismissing her eminently sensible program by insinuating she's doing this to support one of the two parties she says she wants kicked out of power: are you simply parroting whatever your APC or PDP handlers have ordered you to say, or do you truly believe the nonsense you've written? I have to ask because I can't see how any sane person would want Nigeria to experience more of the same old government by the same old failures and thieves, unless the person stands massively to gain from the status quo.
Oby Ezekweselli is right: it's time the Nigerian masses said "enough is enough", and sent the current career criminals in Abuja and 36 state-houses packing. Let's stop pretending that the only "choice" we have is between the APC and the PDP, both of which are so interchangeable and ideology-free that their members freely jump from one party to the other as it suits them. I was beginning to get really irritated by the comments I was seeing until I saw yours. Nigerians indeed stand for NOTHING and the lack of self belief is the reason why the hopeless youths dont know that their destinies are in their hands and NOONE will fight for them. And not everything is a joke! |

The police in this country probably needs a total overhaul. Few days ago I witnessed a case where policemen were shootin live rounds at a passanger vehicle on abuja kaduna expressway because the man was tryin to evade road safety officials as He didn't hav a valid license. They finally caught up with the driver and during the whole episode, three of the men were sharing a wrap of weed in the full glare of the public and mumbling rubbish. Truth is the Nigeria police is one organization I will be really ashamed of representing. Filled with the most despicable humans around with only a few good men. |
