U cannot just say Catholic church, they also have denominations.. just like Pentecostal churches (redeem, MFM, etc). The church with highest amount of parishes is RCCG by a wide margin.

This is not exactly news, it's been on for a very long time.
Every 20-30yrs, there's usually an exodus of skilled Medical workers out of Nigeria.

It was once Saudi Arabia, and Nigerian doctors made so much money then. They came back and bought houses in Ikeja GRA, ikoyi and many other investments.

This time, it's the worst exodus that has ever happened. Like someone else said, one day people will go to hospitals and won't find doctors anymore.

Last November, 150 Nigerian doctors wrote the UK medical licencing exam (PLAB), this march, there were 400. By November, there will be at least a thousand. Meanwhile, we churn out just about a thousand doctors from our medical schools yearly so you might argue that the impact won't be felt but hey... The good guys have left.

So there's a list of countries Nigerian doctors are going to.. UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Qatar, Germany, Saudi Arabia, UAE.
Basically, anywhere outside this country is just fine.

I don't think there's an immediate solution as the government can't afford to pay the kind of money the doctors get paid outside here.

Besides finaincial gratification, there's a better Career progression, better opportunities for research, and a generally better quality of life. You can have brain space to do more productive thinking other than buying fuel for generator and difficulty in doing business.

As we speak, it is easier for a Nigerian doctor to get residency placement in the UK and USA than in Nigeria. As a matter of fact, there's nothing like Merit in the recruitment process.

Way forward, there's need to reform some sectors in Nigeria. Even if everything collapses, Education and health shouldn't chash.

As u may well agree, edu, health and EVERYTHING in this nation is dead. Even defence where valour should be d first criterium for recruitment has been bastardized. We are a nation where fools rule therefore we suffer d consequences. Doctors should even thank their stars. My immediate elder bro is a senior reg. He works at least 18hrs dailt to modestly cater for his family of four. Pathetic.

I hav not had a girlfriend for almost two years and trust me I suffer NONE of these mentioned. Getting layed has never been a priority nor a problem unless u r a little spineless boy. That's why I recommended a CATHOLIC ACADEMIC PRIEST. He won't even try it cos he will get roasted. A normal priest studies Philosophy for 4yrs, Theology for 4yrs other religions for about two years and throughout their training. Add that to one that furthers in religions and bags a Phd from one of those mideaval universities and monastries and you hav an encyclopedia that doesn't rant. The truth is that empty vessles make the loudest noise. No Priest will even indulge in such farce.

At least sanity is guaranteed.

I resigned a killer job on dec 24th last year. My people being an MTN customer care agent has to be the most useless job around. Managed to do it for 3months though. The whole thing is just a FRUSTRATING bundle of shit! And u know something about resigning? Dont ever look back.

The guard of the parish I presently attend somewhere in d west is full blooded FULANI MUSLIM and he lives in d premises with his family. It was d same wit one of d premises keepers during my undergrad days at ABU. These people are NEVER disturbed to become Christians by d Priests. They simply become Christians in heart first before taking the physical leap. And by d way, we used to have cultural troups for entertainment back then in my parish (including masquerade mimmicks). This may just be one of those strictly entertainment stunts. Africans and being so retrogressively judgemental!

I once liked a yoruba girl so much during my late teen and undergrad days because of her gentility, humility and meekness and actually categorised all yoruba girls to be alike in that sense...... That was in one of the Northern states. Now I recently (2yrs ago) moved to a yoruba dominated state and thought I was gonna meet several ladies like that but to my greatest surprise its totally d opposite. I'm not a man for stereotypes but I can safely say that MOST yoruba ladies can be very lousy, insultive (as u hav experienced) and uncouth. Seems d men enjoy them like that though.
