Politics › Re: Federal Allocation-does The South-west Deserve This? by MetaPhysical: 7:45pm On Jun 08, 2019
Hammefeez:
Uptill now, the issue of states in southwest,
perticularly Oyo and Osun still bothering me and why they are owning their workers,
in getting solution to that I got this article that will interest you.

Its a fact surrounding the current issues in southwest and other states. Facts...

Federal Allocation - Does The South-West Deserve this?

As released by the Federal Ministry of Finance, the total allocation to all the South-West states, namely, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun for January this year and shared in February was N15.1
billion, while Akwa Ibom State alone with a population less than 3 million people got N13.9 billion! “For the same period. Bayelsa State, at arguably 2 million people, got N10 billion
and Rivers State got N10.3 billion. Between Kano and Jigawa states, which used to be
one state like Lagos State, they got N7 billion. Lagos State only got N3.4 billion.
“If you remove Ekiti State with the lowest allocation of just N2.3 billion, Akwa Ibom State alone gets more allocation than the
rest of the South-West states put together including Lagos. And guess what? Hundreds of thousands of Akwa Ibom State citizens are in Lagos State enjoying the state’s free
education”. “If you multiply the total allocation to the South-
West states at N15 billion per month by 12, you have N180 billion per year! This is less
than 30% of what the FG make from the Lagos Seaports alone, don’t even talk about VAT that Lagos contributes over 60% of the
total accrual to the FG.

“Yet some morons will tell me we live on Niger Delta oil.”
“Now, my State Governor can’t pay his workers because of this systemic injustice.
It is better we start the implementation of regional based fiscal federalism now.
Brilliant!!

I am however disappointed in this forum, I am looking for evidence to dispute what a German ethnologist theorized but what I am getting is an Afrocentric type of comments.

You are no practically better than those who called some Africans savages.

If you look at my questions very well, I said a Greek colony and what I am asking is that, did a race different to the African negro settled and there are many evidence that led Frobenius to make such comments. The life size arts didn't in anyway resemble the typical black African and now you are left in the state of utter confusion.

I am disappointed with the replies I got so far because it lacks knowledge.

In argument, If I said something is not good, you as my opponent would provide a constructive argument to say that something is good.

Truth no matter how small at all times never change and remain static.
An American writer on power of myth and magic, Joseph Campbell, had once written that the Yorubas were Atlantic and he placed their origin in the seafaring Pheonicias.

Leo Frobenius himself call them Etrusceans. Dierk Lange also called them Canaanites.

Keep reading and digging, dont be discouraged...its normal to meet roadblocks but you must cultivate a stronger will to overun roadblocks before they destroy your quest.

RedboneSmith:
Inferiority complex? Lol.

It is not your fault sha. You people will always go and dig up old outdated research from a deeply racist past, and when someone points out to you that the work is old and outdated, and has since been debunked by historians who have more detailed data at their disposal, you come up with ridiculous accusations like 'inferiority complex' and 'ignorance'. Frobenius did his work in the early part of the 20th century. Since that time more up-to-date work has been done on the history of Yoruba art. If knowledge is what you seek, you should keep abreast with recent trends in African historiography.

Frobenius and a lot of researchers like him from that time always made the assumption that wherever in Africa they found evidence of high civilization, it must have come from outside Africa. They found that the Yoruba of Ife made highly naturalistic sculptures and they concluded they must have learnt from the Greeks (who also did naturalistic sculptures.) For some reason he thought the Greeks had the patent on naturalism, and no other people in the world could have made them independent of the Greeks. *eye roll*

Diffusionist nonsense. But of course, if you fancy nonsense, go ahead and knock yourself out. What's my business? cool
So its outdated, its racist, ....

History is never outdated and racism is relative!

If i say Blacks are not inventive I am admitting an inventive race exist and it is not Black. This is racism. If i say Whites suffer from mental imbalances it's an admission that it is possible to have mental balance and the trait does not exist amongst Whites. This is also racism. What is profound is the two statements are exceedingly truthful.

Frobenius was an anthropologist and an artist as well. What he saw and recorded in text he also sketched and entered as art. He entered African from the North, Libya to be specific. So Yorubaland was not his target or first stop. What he experienced in Yorubaland were discoveries. The people did not tell him what they had or who they were. A dig by someone preparing ground for foundation unearthed a treasure....and one curiosity led to the other for the German.

The history and accounts of his discoveries, their antiquities and their value to humanity and society can never ever be "outdated".

Yorubaland was not his last stop, Frobenius went further hinterland and researched other cultures beyond Yoruba.

In his conclusion of the cultures and the places he visited the Yorubas are unique. Their civilization is only worthy to be compared with that of Greek; no one else!
He provided plenty substances of customs, traditions, arts, philosophies, as base for his report. He was careful to point out that what he found in Yorubaland could not be found or reproduced anywhere else in Africa except in North Africa. He was convinced Atlantis was in Yorubaland. He did not think the Blacks colonized Greek but rather Greek colonized and taught Yorubas these arts and customs.

In other words the link between Yoruba and Greek is indisputable, it cannot be a mere coincidence and neither is it result of attrition, rather it shows direct signature of a single civilization that splitted in past....and is now found. This is fact!

He introduced racism where he said Greek was the parent civilization to Yoruba because Blacks had no capacity to produce such fine art.

OP is dealing with the fact. The age and racism does not devalue nor diminish the merit in the link.

Some people's sole aim in this world is to provoke people intentionally, I am a "slow to react to anger" kind of person and I always stay in my lane and mind my business, once I smell trouble coming from afar, I run to the opposite direction as fast as my leg can carry me, I come from a tribe where you have to respect elders no matter the situation same as what my Bible says so what gives abeg.......

My husband always praise his mum cos she trained him to med school here in U.S.A, of course who wouldn't just like I don't joke with my dad cos he did well for his six kids, so he adores his mum, praises her in every situation, always at her beck and call, I didn't see it as a big deal cos, well, it's his mum, we met here in NY, he and his family stay in Maryland while I was schooling in NY, the plan was when we get married I'll go back and forth till I finish school then move to Maryland, so I took in, you know first pregnancy how difficult it is, so one of those days i went to ML for the weekend one time, during that period, his mum had a get together so everyone is expected to be there, being in my first trimester, I was sick and told her I can't be there, she insisted and I told her I'll try, when the time came I was too ill to go anywhere so I didn't go, all for his mum to come later that night and was shouting saying and I quote "when I tell my son your husband to run he will run, even if I tell him to jump he will do just that so who are you to tell me you can't come, what silly sickness, if I blow that your belly, highest is you'll loose the pregnancy and then take in again, nothing is going to happen" that is exactly what she said, I was shocked, my husband was there looking he didn't say anything, his father was there, he shouted at her that why would she say something like that, his mum shut him down saying all manner of unsayable things because she was more like the breadwinner, his sister, that one cannot talk if not the mother will insult her very existence just because she got pregnant out of wedlock but she still married the father ooo, me, my mouth was open, I couldn't talk cos I dont even know what to say, when they left hubby didnt even try to ease my mind or anything, the next day I jejely left for NY, vowing that my leg will never step into ML anymore.

Sincerely I was tempted to abort and divorce my husband because I don't understand how someone can say evil like that, even if it was a joke, that was nonsense, since then I've been in NY, I gave birth here, Dre has been the one coming here, it's not like me and his mum don't talk, she calls and we talk, sometimes I call too, all for recently, infact last week Dre says he got an opening for a job here and he wants to take it, I blatantly told him NO, because his parents couldnt work anymore due to health and all so they are staying with him in ML, him moving here means his mum will do that too, I told him no that I like things the way they are, no issues, nothing, I cannot stay in the same house with his mum because we will have issues that one is certain, he started shouting, I reminded him of what his mother said two years ago, he now said it is the past, which past? Now that I'm working I am expected to leave my babies with her, call me delusional the instinct of a mother is to protect her children, even if she may not do anything, we will still have issues and I don't want that before someone say I'm disrespectful when I talk back.

If I decide to turn American now, I'll just tell him he can't bring anyone here without my permission, but no, I won't tell him that, some of their laws here is stupid to be honest and I'm a nice person and I was born and bred in the north in Nigeria also I don't want to escalate issue, I am the only one here, my family is in Nigeria and i never mentioned any of this to them so it won't turn to family issues, now he's not talking to me saying he will take drastic measures, it will not pass divorce and custody battle of which I know I will win but I don't want that for my kids, they need their parents in the same home not divorced, my own is he should stay where he is and take care of his parents and continue worshiping his mum, is it that hard?

I dey vex abeg, pls advice on other options fam.
I like your clarity and patience, you are philosophical in the way you relate with the world, very good. I have simple but impacting response to share.

Her scolding you two years ago and not getting any defense from your husband was very wrong. I want you to reflect on who she is in her upbringing.

1. If her own children could not speak up for fear of offending and getting scolded by her, your mother in law was probably raised in a generation where obedience to elders is absolute, and she grew up in a household in which opinion of the breadwinner is final, any dissenting voice will get cut memorably from a razor sharp tongue.

You did not share but Im sure she possesses many fine qualities you admire.

2. Your children share her gene and if you have daughters in them you will see her as they grow older.

Praise publicly, scold privately! Give a second chance.

It's time to reconcile with your mother in law. Chalk off that one incidence as ego, a product of her own strict upbringing. Call her, tell her you will be coming to town with her grandchildren and want you and her to go out and have fun with the kids. When you visit and are outside of the home bring her back to that day and that moment two years ago and tell her you are still hurting.

Once the blockage is cleansed your relationship with your husband and in laws will have a new dynamic and positivity. Cherish what you have now. There is no prince out there looking for a mother of two to marry.

Okay. First of all, I am Yoruba by blood and I am here to find more truth.

Leo Frobenuis theory about Ile Ife and Yorubaland being once settled by some Greeks and being a Greek colony, I think deserves a consideration. In spite of all the insults, I wouldn't do away with some of the element of the truth in his book.

I think there have been an admixture between the present Yoruba people (I am me) and some other people of another race (which is also me). This other people and other race i don't know and how to describe them.

The reason why I said I am the other race is I might have been the one with also the blood that the Yoruba man presently which is me also carries.

Yoruba had roots in Canaan/Egypt. The Canaanites were also called Pheonicians. Greek's (Roman) civilization is an offshoot of the Phoenicians. Yoruba and Greek are not directly co-origined, the similarity between the two is in their arts, myths, divinities and this is due to them both coming out of a common culture and knowledge-set, so their productions mirror one another.

Look at the picture below, an ancient Greek Emperor. He carries a crown on his head, holds a staff and bears two swords- the sword in his hand is that of Priesthood, the one across his chest is the one of Kingdom. He is a Priest-King. How is he different from Ooni and our other kings in Yorubaland?

If Femi Gbajabiamila is in US he will be e ligible to contest election and be voted for. He committed an offense, not a crime.

It is very bad of him to treat his client that way but if you read the summary it is unmistakable that this is violation of professional ethics.

We need to give it a statutory test. The offense happened in US. If it was felony he would have had a arrest warrant issued and he would be prosecuted. Moreover he would have lost his right to practice forever. However, thats not the case here....the man can reregister after paying member dues and resume practice. Felons cannot vote nor be voted in America. Femi has not failed the test of civil law, can vote and be voted for in America. Why can he not be voted here in Nigeria?
