Flairoqy:
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II

Tribalism is not our problem. Tribalism and religion are artificial problems created by selfish leaders for their own personal interest.

There are only two major tribes in Nigeria. The Elites and the Masses. Once you make lots of money, you belong to the elite tribe. When you are a commoner or suffering, you belong to the tribe of the masses. If you are an elite, and you need more power, or elective position, you sow seeds of tribalism and religion among the masses, so as to sway their emotion for your personal victory. This happens at both the national and state level. Unfortunately, after the election when they have won and joined their “sworn enemies” to drink and party, the gullible masses continue to fight each other.

Even smart people who belong to the masses, sometimes will sow seeds of tribalism and religion among the masses, and then the masses will carry them up until they belong to the elite class. It is a classic strategy used over 3000 years ago in the art of war. A commoner who aspires to sit with the elites, could stir up powerful tribal or religious sentiments, such wave if properly utilized either by shedding blood or destabilizing the elites, carries the commoner to the elite class. But once there, he immediately mingles and makes peace with the elite tribe, and turn his back on the same masses that helped him get there.

Youths are the worst victim of this powerplay, they kill each other, call other tribes unprintable names, do terrible things and sometimes, even lose their life, thinking they are fighting for their right, not knowing that they are fighting for the personal welfare of someone, whose own children are probably safe in America or London.

So youths, don’t hope on the government. If you don’t have a job, create one. There is abject poverty in the south as well as the north, whether Ogoni or Maidugri. At the same time, there is massive wealth in Lagos, Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba, Kano, Abuja, irrespective of zone.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it well and never remain idle. No job is too low for an idle hand, or else the devil will find work for you. As you become independent, and grow your capacity, do not lose hope in Nigeria. We are the largest economy in Africa and soon the world will fear us. Western powers, don’t like big economies that threaten them, America will do anything to break China, but China is wise to resist that. China has 1.6 billion people, we have only 170 million, and we are talking of breaking.

China has 5 major religions which are Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam and Christianity. Nigeria has only 2 major religions, Christianity and Islam. Yet we claim that religion is our problem.

America, the strongest economy is comprised of every tribe in the world, since they accept anybody from any part of the world. Yet they are united and extremely patriotic. Nigeria has only 3 major tribes, and we claim tribalism.

Think clearly and deeply, and you will realize that empowering yourself is the best course of action, not fighting each other. And once the youths are empowered, they can begin to take back their future from the hands of the old and corrupt generation that has been blinding Nigerians with hatred, while looting all her resources. Sani Abacha’s loot is still stashed away in Switzerland, did he use it to develop the north? Those that stole billions under GEJ stashed it away in foreign banks, bought expensive toys, jets and foreign homes, are they using it to develop the south? Now the ones stealing currently, including the “grasscutters”, are looking for Ikoyi apartments, abandoned houses, and pit toilets to hide it, are they using it for the youths in their tribe? NO!

Youths shine your eyes ! Don’t always fall for this tribal, religious sentiments over and over again. Nigeria is bigger than these corrupt elites. They are the problem, not the poor Masses

SanusiLamidoSanusill
Add the bold to the plaque on Usman dan Fodio crypt in Sokoto, he is guilty of this charge.

Yoruba has never been tribalistic or religious, we practice the best diversity societies anywhere in Africa. This is fact!

Sanusi need to instruct societies that struggle with the above and exclude Yoruba from his useless sermon.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Is Overhyped: Three Things We Learnt From The Fallout Between Ngige And F by MetaPhysical: 2:57am On Jul 30, 2020
Observinho:
We are all aware of the recent drama that ensued between the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, and Hon. James Faleke representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Lagos.
In case you missed it, here is a summary:
Ngige was invited to explain the suspension of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) management amidst allegations against him.
As proceedings went on, Faleke, while asking his question, seemed to have ridiculed the minister.
The lawmaker suggested that Ngige was appointed a minister even though President Muhammadu Buhari lost in his area during the presidential election. He also made some allegations against the wife of the minister in a move that seemed personal.
Ngige responded:
"You are like my junior brothers...except Faleke that they say he's up to 60, I don't know," Faleke then cut in, saying "I'm sixty-plus..." To which Ngige retorted: “So you are near my age, at least I am seven years older than you. I’m the same age with your mentor in Lagos, Asiwaju,” (making reference to Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC and former Lagos governor.) “And I was governor with him at the same time. He was a senator, I was a senator. I am a two-time minister, he isn’t a two-time minister,” he added. Again, Faleke interrupted saying “but he (Tinubu) won all his elections very well,” in an apparent reference to the controversies that trailed Ngige’s election as governor of Anambra state.
Meanwhile, when Faleke asked the minister to respond to questions, he said: “I’m responding my friend, if you yab me, I yab you ten times. I am a Lagos boy, you are just a small boy in Lagos. Look at this Mushin boy, he’s talking to a VI boy. I live in Victoria Island. Look at this Mushin boy from Kogi o.”
While the whole debacle was somewhat hilarious, there are however some pick ups therefrom:
1. Our government officials will not cease to embarrass us.
Watching the whole event on Youtube, one would think this was just a meeting of friends who are having some scores to settle over some bottles of liquor. It didn’t have the seriousness and decorum expected of top government officials discussing issues of serious importance bothering on allegations of corruption. ‘Mushin boy’; ‘V.I. boy’… These terms were way too much of a joke on such an occasion. It tells a lot about the caliber of people we elect into positions of governance in this country.
2. The second arm of government is increasingly becoming a joke in Nigeria. First it was Festus Keyamo, having a brawl with some senators, which almost went fisty., now Chris Ngige turning a house committee probe panel into a ‘bunch of small boys’. Well the reason for this is not far-fetched. He who fetches ant-infested firewood should be ready to entertain the Lizard as his guest. The legislature had earlier made itself a stooge to the executive who in an unprecedented move has taken the responsibility of handpicking the Senate president and the Speaker of House of Representatives. No wonder the house has been tagged a ‘rubber-stamp’, which means that they don’t question the decisions of the executives as they should, but simply vetoes them. The legislature should be an independent arm of government, serving as a proper watch dog to the executive and judiciary. But lately, this hasn’t been the case in Nigeria.
3. Tinubu is overhyped:
The national leader of APC was dragged into the fiasco by the minister, and this was done in such a casual manner that it didn’t befit a man whom his people have held in so much awe and reverence. He refers to him by his first name, he compares himself with Tinubu, and from the comparison, he (Ngige) has a better CV. He is at par with Tinubu in every other of Tinubu’s achievements and even goes beyond him in that he is a two time minister and Tinubu is not.
This raises again the old question of how relevant Tinubu is in Federal politics, especially in the face of his recent fallout with his party APC. Tinubu is no doubt the most relevant politician in the southwest currently. One would even think that he was an ex-president. Indeed, it would be understandable if it was Obasanjo that holds the kind of sway that Tinubu holds in the west. But apparently, it is just in the West, and maybe even in Lagos alone that Tinubu’s influence ends. The way Ngige, who is a federal minister and an experienced politician called him out is reflective of how he is regarded in Abuja. Ngige knows his onions very well, make no mistakes about that. He wouldn’t dare to step on toes that would hurt him.
He was directly sending a message to Faleke, and indirectly to Tinubu. He seems to be saying to Faleke: ‘I know who is behind your new found bravado, and trust me he is not my match by any ramification’.
On the long run, we might wait to hear from Tinubu. But aside the fact that the West knows how to project their own via the media, Tinubu might just be another ambitious ex-governor.
Reference the bold: Tinubu is not an elected govt official at any level, yet he remains the most politically visible individual in West Africa. No other politician in the WestAfrican subregion has the media coverage or national influence matching that of Tinubu.

If he wasn't relevant, why did you open a thread to discuss him?

Ngige knows his onion well but repeatedly fails to win election in his state. What kind of onion does he know?

Our company recently employed this guy, we worked in the same company before, then he was a manager and i was a junior staff.

I left the company years ago and joined another, so few months ago he got employed in my new office as a Director.

When he resumed, being that i knew him before, i started playing around with him, like when he was introduced to us, i was like oo, common, i hug him tightly and people were surprise at our closeness before i informed them that we have worked together before.

I am a jovial person, so each time i go around his office, i will call him boyfriend, my love, hope no girl is trespassing cos i will fight o and his subordinates will laugh and say you are not serious.

On the job, we get to work together at times cos i am a Manager now, we go for meetings etc, then some of his job includes doing some short production, even though i am not employed as a video producer, i told him i can do those for him personally, cos i recently learn those, he was surprise before but he decided to give me a try, i did it for him and he liked it, he became close and said i was helping him solve alot of problems.

Recently when he comes to my office, he will ask my PA where is my woman and that one will laugh knowing i started it but i just thought that was it though.

So last month when we went to the Palms Mall, to seek for permission to film their facilities in the short production work we had, we were together then he decided to do some shopping, i helped him carry the things he bought and just had fun, he took me to shoprite and ask me to shop, i just pick two things, drink and rice and he said is that all i said yes, he started showing me things, take this, take that i said i was okay, that it wasnt appropriate to come here and start shopping like its month end. So we left, in the car he said, you do have some very good attribute girl, i said like what, he said never mind and we drove off.

After that he started asking if we can have lunch but most time our lunch time dont sync, so i told him not to worry, then he asked for a dinner, i close late, im a workaholic, so most times i will agree but i will work till 9pm and he would have waited and get tired and left.

Finally i get to have a dinner date with him and he ask if we could do this more often, i said why not boyfriend jokingly, the next time we were having dinner, I said boyfriend let me greet that guy there, i really needed to meet him, he has a contact i need for work, he held me and said you call me boyfriend jokingly, i want you to mean it lol.

After i met with the guy, he started telling me how he loved me and how he will really love us to be in a relationship, he doesnt expect a yes and he knows its so wrong on all level because we work in the same place, but i can think about it and give him a response later that he will respect any decision i make.

I said thank you o, but since then, dude is so soft and nervous when he sees me, i can see the butterflies even when we are in a client meeting.

Even though he tries not to make it obvious at work, after work he is all over me

Last night we were together, i told him i am scared as he is almost 40 and not married, that i believe any guy who gets to that age, with enough money but has not married is a play boy lol. He couldn't say a word for like some minutes then he said, yes i am old enough to have been married and i had relationships, beautiful relationships with wonderful women, some didn't work because of my mistakes and because of things i neglected and some didn't work because it was not meant to work, but above all have learnt alot to be at least a better man and i am ready to make it work this time i promise, i have no doubt if you are the right girl because have known you for long and have never had a second thought about my woman, so forgive me for not making it work all these while, i want to make it right this time - MEHN THOSE WORDS RINGS IN MY HEAD LIKE KILODE, i loved the fact that he didnt put the blame on the ladies he's dated.

Now on my own side, I do not feel anything for him but i like him alot, i like that we should be hanging out, go out, do dinner and talk from morning tonight but i do not feel anything aside that. What do you guys advise.
Gaddem! I love reading stories like this....the amebo inside me jump to surface. grin

Lady, there is no woman in this world that does not love to be touched. In fact the essence of feminity has a lot to do with your physicality and your skin surface and texture has a great role to play in this. Some women have greater skin sensitivity than others and in their awareness for self-protection they avoid any male pressure on their skin....whether a hug, a kiss, a sensual touch.

You hugged him tight to seal your reunion with him at the new job, you flirted with him in public, you enjoy his company, you offer yourself to assist his success at work, you adore his communication and flair......the interest is mutual and does not appear to be forced or strained, it just connects and flows in its own harmony.

....and you come here to say you do not feel anythi.....

Hold on there.....where is my otumokpo make i take swear for this girl.....God save you today I no know where my native charm waka go, you for hear wheen. grin grin grin

I love it, the breast speak for themselves and gave my mouth sensations!

Now, I have question for the wife....she must not know what WIFE means. Since she has a sense enough of heirarchy and where her position is in that line.....is she aware that her dressing in public does not befit the image of a wife? Camel-toe all in public glare. She is attached to outward entitlements but slowly killing her inner matrimony. Look at the bird she is flocking with.....a braless wh,ore with nipples communicating across the ocean to me in Nigeria. I'm like wtf, I want to bang the hoe! I am sure the husband does too.

Politics › Adesina Completely Exonerated By High Level Independent Review Panel by MetaPhysical(op): 5:45am On Jul 29, 2020
A much awaited report by an Independent Review Panel has completely exonerated the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina of any ethical wrongdoings.

The Independent Review Panel was set up by the Bureau of Governors of the Bank, following a complaint by the United States, to review the process by which two previous organs of the Bank – the Ethics Committee of the Board, and the Bureau of the Board of Governors – had previously exonerated Adesina.

The distinguished three-member Independent Review Panel include Mary Robinson, who is a former President of the Republic of Ireland, a former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Chairperson of the Elders, a global body of wise persons concerned with the world’s wellbeing; the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Gambia, Mr. Hassan B. Jallow; and Mr. Leonard F. McCarthy, a former Director of Public Prosecutions, a former Director for the Office of Serious Economic Offences, and a former Head of the Directorate of Special Operations of South Africa. He also served as the Vice President of Integrity for the World Bank for nine years.

In January 2020, sixteen allegations of ethical misconduct were levelled against Adesina by a group of whistleblowers. The allegations which were reviewed by the Bank’s Ethics Committee of the Board of Directors in March, were described as “frivolous and without merit.” The findings and rulings of the Ethics Committee were subsequently upheld by the apex Bureau of the Board of Governors in May, which cleared Adesina of any wrongdoing.

The report of the Independent Review Panel states that it “concurs with the (Ethics) Committee in its findings in respect of all the allegations against the President and finds that they were properly considered and dismissed by the Committee.”

The Panel once again vindicates Adesina and states, “It has considered the President’s submissions on their face and finds them consistent with his innocence and to be persuasive.”

The conclusions of the Independent Review Panel are decisive and now clear the way for Governors of the Bank to re-elect Adesina to a second five-year term as President during annual meetings of the Bank scheduled for August 25-27.

Adesina is a highly decorated and distinguished technocrat and globally-respected development economist. He was awarded the prestigious World Food Prize in 2017 and the Sunhak Peace Prize in 2019 for global leadership in agriculture and for good governance.

Since taking over the reigns of the Bank in 2015, he has introduced several innovative reforms including a High5 development strategy; a restructuring of the bank including setting up offices in several African nations to get closer to its clients; an Africa Investment Forum that has attracted $79 billion in investment interests into projects in Africa between 2018 and 2019. He successfully led a historic General Capital Increase campaign that culminated in the Bank’s shareholders raising the institution’s capital from $93 billion to $208 billion, in October 2019.

In June and July respectively, global credit ratings agencies Standard and Poors and Fitch Ratings both affirmed the ‘AAA’ rating of the Bank, with stable outlook.

Under Adesina’s leadership the African Development Bank launched a $10 billion crisis response facility to boost African nations’ ability to tackle the health and economic effects of COVID-19.

Several Governors of the Bank speaking off the record, say it is now time to put recent events in the past; provide the Bank’s President with full support; and bolster the Bank’s efforts on Africa’s critical development issues.
Politics › Yoruba World Congress Holds Meetings In Over 200 Lgs Simultaneously by MetaPhysical(op): 5:30am On Jul 29, 2020
The Yoruba World Congress, an umbrella body of Yoruba indigenes both at home and in the Diaspora, has successfully held meetings in all the local government areas of Yoruba origin in Nigeria.

The meetings, which held on Saturday simultaneously, took place across over 200 local government areas of Yoruba speaking states, including some LGAs in Kwara, Kogi, Edo and Delta States.

It took place on under the leadership of Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, and supported by eminent Yoruba leaders such as Dr. Amos Akingba and Araba Tola Adeniyi, among others who form part of the YWC Leaders Council.

It was the first of its kind.

The YWC Secretary-General, Prof Anthony Kila, had earlier confirmed the meeting, noting that it would open a new page in the annals of history as the group, led by Prof. Akintoye.

The YWC was the first association in the world to hold meetings in all local government areas of Yorubaland at the same time on the same day aside churches and mosques.

The YWC Secretariat in Ibadan was also unveiled on the day as a highpoint of events.

Recall that in June, the body initiated the YWC Global Library Project to preserve and promote Yoruba culture with Prof. Omofolabo Ajayi-Soyinka as head.

In his address to all the Local Government Chapters, Prof. Kila acknowledged the historic impact the initiative has made, while expressing appreciation to as many that facilitated the realisation of the project, including “various groups, individuals and state coordinators that make up the YWC that answered the call to serve and unite our people”.

The meetings, planned since March, according to Kila and adhered strictly to the rules of social distancing as stipulated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, did not make any nomination or election as it was basically held for the members to know one another.

Kila further observed that the group is creating a new dawn in Yorubaland aimed at harnessing a crop of leaders totally sold out to the progress of the Yorubaland and people.

“It is a new dawn in Yorubaland and the Yoruba World Congress is putting together a crop of tomorrow leaders that are willing to give their time, ideas space and money to help Yoruba people. We thank you all and congratulate you for being part of such people,” he said.

While stating that YWC aims to promote, defend and achieve the collective growth and developmental aspirations and interests, prosperity, security, wellbeing, welfare and sustenance of Yoruba people and culture, Kila reiterated that establishing the group’s presence in the LGAs is with full “understanding and respect for local sensibilities as well as diversity of our groups that make up the YWC”.

He added: “We want those that live in our community to meet themselves, know themselves, discuss what matters to them and later decide who will lead them by looking at who is most willing and capable.”

The Yoruba World Congress, with international Secretariat in Lagos, comprises Yoruba people and groups across the world, and aims to promote, defend and achieve the collective growth and developmental aspirations and interests, prosperity, security, wellbeing, welfare and sustenance of Yoruba People and culture.

2prexios:
There was a time that the Yoruba had a connection with the Celtics, the earliest inhabitants of England in the Roman era.

So several of the Yoruba/English cognates might be from this source and not to exclude the Anglo Saxon axis either. Languages travel with emigrants.

The point of contact is explored in the link I have on my signature or dp. Facts have a good route of connection.

But to authenticate originality will be a difficult task in some cases. Like the idea I've shared here at some point about upstairs, petesi and petrezin.

English: upstairs
Yoruba: petesi
Egun: petrezin

Petesi feels odd in Yoruba to my hearing and expectations of the usual nuances of the Yoruba language. Because if it's an ancient word, it would connect to one ancient mind or the other.

Then grandpa had an upstairs that my folks called "petrezin ji aga", meaning upstairs on top high. So, the true word should be aga, akin to Aja in Yoruba. That's the ancient mind connection.

My repulsion for the petesi as a borrowed word first stems from petrezin: azìn in Egun is eyin in Yoruba, egg, but azín means groundnut.

I wonder what the connection between the egg could be with an upstairs, and the subconscious connected it to the Yoruba petesi. And that settles the confusion.

However, I can't say if that's what all the Egun call the upstairs, because it could be my folks who have loaned the word because it's (upstairs) in their possession.

But again, if not, they should have an indeginous word for the same idea from their cultural experience and past examples So, my source have a way of validating itself.

How about the Yoruba petesi? PTS, UP STAIR S.

The Yoruba had loaned the word descreetly, (afetiya) that a Yoruba man that cannot trace anything beyond the recent past would argue it's a Yoruba word.

We can see how the word was borrowed, and how someone else borrowed a borrowed language and it ended up sitting well in their language petre-zin.

Had it been I know of an animal called petre in that language, would have assume it's a name derived from some myth.

English: upstairs
Yoruba: petesi
Egun: petrezin

Upstairs are actually two words. Up+Stairs.
Similarly, Petesi are two words also. Pe+Tesi.

No doubt, these are cognates. Finding the origin will depend on the aging of the language it is used in, but more importantly on the function it serves in that language.

Pepe - Higher elevation
Tesi - Motion/Advance

I think the Pepe is compressed into Pe and joined with Tesi to form Petesi.

Petesi is a fixed structure for advancing upward/downward an elevation.
Another structure that accomplishes this for us is Akaba. Difference is Akaba is movable....it is non-fixed.

Yoruba have always had the word PEPE and AJA. Aja is Attic. Whereas Pepe can be anywhere, Aja cannot.

Yoruba traditional architecture made out of clay bricks and mortar, with roofing truss and thatched covering were built with high ceilings purposely for cross air-ventilation. Shelvings and Attics were built into them. So while in the European sense an Upstairs is a design for occupancy of multi-level floor elevations, in traditional Yoruba housing Upstairs would have no functional utility because our shelves and attics were designed for storage, not as a living space for occupancy. On the other hand, an Akaba would fit in perfectly in the traditional Yoruba house. Hence, i think Petesi is a modernization fitting with our modernity in house construction. Here, I will apply the same analytical approach I typically use to filter what is borrowed and what is authentic in Yoruba lexicon. I believe Petesi is borrowed.

We can explore the word further and make discovery by asking, is there relation between Petesi, Apata, Ipetu?

Cheers bro!

PastorAIO:
Hi, Please what does Alade mean if not owner of the crown?

For example, the names: Aládégbayé,

Alálàádé

Aláwodé

I believe that these names mean respectively, The owner of the Crown had taken the world, The owner of the white cloth (Ala) has come. The owner of the Mysteries has come.
Sir,
In Yoruba language, Alade occurs as a name in "itself" in only one instance, and that is in oriki. Every other instances of it is in compressed form.

Alade - oriki

Aladexxxxx - pedigree
xxxxxAlade - pedigree
Aladeyomi
OriAlade

In oral accent, Alade above is easily distinguishable.

Contentions arise when rendered in its non-diacritic written form, in which case its usage context can then act as an aid to distinguish.

Alade oko mi.
Alade ori mi.

Both are attributes of praise, one is oriki, the other is attribute of class.

I will excuse a foreign born Yoruba or a learner who is not adept in the use of our language to trade exchanges.

I cannot give passage to a Yoruba who swears to be intimate with Ife and that he is a linguist, to commit such error and remain adamant in his position, after the error was brought to his notice.

Im going to stretch this oriki - Alade - and enter into its source.

If you go back to one of my responses to Obalufon, I mentioned that Alade should actually be Allade.

The oriki is an attribute to Oba Atalla. We compress his name to Obatala.

What is Obatala to Yoruba?
In simple terms, he is the Lord of Realms! The one who is ever-present and the possessor of the realms of earth, water, fire, air. All humans, beasts of land, air, water are under him. Above him is the Lord of the Universe and everything in the dominion....that which we call Almighty God....or Almighty Allah.

The word Almighty (All-mighty) itself is a compression and an attribute of Alla.

Why is Obatala the Lord of Purity?

The state of creation is possible because of the elements - air, water, earth, fire.

When you take each of the elements in its individual state you experience them as a partial purity but when you combine all you attain a full purity.

Astrology explains this using Qualities and Science explains it using Light spectrum and its wavelengths.

We humans are at the top heirarchy of beasts. In other words, we are beasts in the most refined state possible. Yet, we cannot touch a state of purity humanly possible. Those who attempt we call Saints. Those who accomplish it we call Divinities. So you can appreciate that at our best as humans we remain impure because we remain limited to existence in one aspect of the elements, lacking capacity to transcend into two or more simultaneously. Obatala transcends all four! He attained perfection....purity!

Alla de - the pure one has arrived.
This is where the oriki Alade comes from.

Obatalla was a cult in the Kaaba shrine, and the official name for that shrine is Beyt 'Allah. Im sure you recognize the congruent in the two names.

Peace brother! wink

Politics › 2023: North Loves Igbo, Will Help Ndigbo Become President - Arthur Eze. by MetaPhysical(op): 9:00pm On Jul 26, 2020
In this interview conducted by Nnamdi Ojiego in his country home, Ukpo, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Eze reveals why he’s taking Governor Willie Obiano to court, his support for President Muhammadu Buhari, among other issues. Excerpts:

Recently, there have been calls from some quarters for an Igbo to be president of Nigeria in 2023. What’s your take on this?

Listen, I don’t have any objections to that because only God can make anybody president including Igbo person. It is possible for an Igbo person to become Nigeria’s president in 2023. However, for us to achieve that, we must work with the North. Again, we shall pray to God to find an Igbo man who has character to help people.

I would prefer someone who has conscience; somebody who will remember the people. I don’t care where he or she comes from. During the time of President Jonathan, we had the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Pius Anyim. What did he do for Igbo people? He brought Julius Berger and they tarred his own road; the one leading to his house. All our roads were bad. It is President Buhari that is tarring our roads now.

Look at Enugu – Onitsha Road, Enugu – Port Harcourt Road, Second Niger Bridge. He went and modernized Zik’s grave. Did Jonathan do that? These South-East governors, does any of them ask whether you eat or not? For example, in Anambra State, Dunukofia Local Government Area makes about N150 million every month. Has Governor Obiano built anything in Dunukofia? Has he brought any industry to Anambra? Tell me. Your children, where are they going to go tomorrow? Go to Yoruba land in Ogun, you will see industries. Go to Rivers and you’ll see industries.

I started politics when I was very young. My father was a member of the Eastern House of Chiefs during the time of Nnamdi Azikiwe and then Premier Okpara. I used to open doors for politicians whenever they come around, and my father never opposed any leader, be he Yoruba or Hausa. It is not in our blood.

We preferred to live in peace with everybody. So, for the Igbo to be President, they must love themselves and work other regions. We must learn from Nnamdi Azikiwe. Zik was a wise man. During his time, he built bridges with the North through the Sardauna of Sokoto and Tafawa Balewa. It is important that we emulate Zik at this point in time in our lives as a people. The seed of discord between the North and Ndigbo should be broken totally so that both regions can enjoy harmonious relationship for the benefit of all.

You said northerners love the Igbo. Why did you say so?

Yes. Why I said so is because, after civil war, when Igbo properties were being seized in Rivers and other areas, northerners didn’t seize anything. In fact, they returned all Igbo properties including money made from them. So, northerners are kind. Again, when I went to the North, they didn’t know who I was but they supported me and helped me to establish (businesses). Abubakar Rimi (second republic Kano governor) gave me $12 million for Kano TV in 1980 when I didn’t have one naira. He called Governor Lar and he gave me that of Plateau for $12 million. It was the same thing in Katsina, Borno and Kaduna. Then, they put me in oil business. They didn’t care where I came from. Tell me any Igbo man who can do that.

Yes. The Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers held a meeting with me. The purpose of the meeting was to appraise the achievements of President Buhari in the South-East and to reach a resolution for a thank you visit to the President. You see all he’s doing for us? Did you see the Onitsha-Enugu road? It is the best in Africa. What about Onitsha-Enugu road, Enugu – Port Harcourt road, Enugu airport, Second Niger Bridge and many others.

Buhari built and decorated the Zik’s mausoleum. Only a northerner can do that. So basically, we are visiting the President to thank him for the numerous developmental projects both completed and ongoing in the South-East, and to appeal to him to complete ongoing projects. We will also use the visit to beg him to dredge River Niger to allow ships berth at the river to help our people who are largely importers.

It was reported that you are taking your governor, Willie Obiano, to court. Why?

To compel him to pay traditional rulers their outstanding statutory entitlements which were approved by the late General Sani Abacha. The late Head of State allocated five percent for traditional rulers. The North has been implementing their own up till today.

Northern governors are paying their traditional rulers. Western governors are paying theirs but South-East governors, except that of Enugu State, are not paying, why? So I am taking Obiano to court unless he pays the outstanding money owed traditional rulers, start doing something for the people and stop wasting state’s resources on projects that have no economic impact on the people like the airport he’s building.

Obiano is spending $3billion to build airport at Aguleri while the people of Aguleri don’t have good roads. Enugu, where there is an airport, to Anambra is about 20 minutes’ drive, then you have Asaba airport close by.

So, do we really need another airport? Why not use the money to build industries and other critical infrastructure? Provide something for your people, your own children. Very soon we shall die. Your children, where are you going to engage them? Which industry did they build? They didn’t build any, not even one that is producing toilet tissue. That is the problem.

It was alleged that you were having a running battle with Obiano over the siting of the Zone 13 Police Command facility?

I’m not aware of anything like that. On the siting of the police command, it will interest you to know that in Anambra, Dunukofia or Ukpo is in the middle position. From here to Enugu with the new express road is just 20 minutes. From here to Ebonyi is about one hour using the road Buhari built for us. Here is a centralized place, that’s why it is sited here. Governor Obiano wanted it to be in Aguleri, his hometown. I thought that he would be happy we brought it to the centre because, from here to his place is less than seven minutes’ drive and from here to Onitsha is seven minutes. I thought that we were working together until I heard that he went to Abuja to spray money.
