1. The name was “Benin conquest of Lagos area”

2. Benin don’t own the lands in Lagos anymore just like Britain doesn’t own the lands in Nigeria anymore.. (independence).

3. Is there anything like a non water people? Anyways Benin soldiers were transported by boats.. or you can ask Ulsheimer the European soldier who was part of the Benin Army how he and 10,000 Benin soldiers got to Lagos.

4. Prior to the conquest you can ask the Aworis about their war history, Benin came into the picture after the Aworis settled in the sandy waste by the ocean and conquered them.

5. After the conquest the Awori didn’t fight any war.. can one fight a power greater than him? The Aworis after the conquest could only form “political” party to agitate for rights for the Aworis from their Benin colonial masters.

I hope I have answered your questions.. if you have anymore please ask.. grin
1. There is no war fought in Yorubaland that does not have a local name. grin

Even war we fought with whiteman we gave it local name. Agidingbi!

What is the name of the Benin war in Lagos? If you dont know it dont guess, go and find out and report it here.

2. It's not only in Lagos that Benin doesnt own land.

Even in Edo, its host-land, the Benin Royalty does not own land.

The Idejo Chiefs in Lagos call Oba of Lagos their tenant. Same way Edo Chiefs call Omo Oba a tenant, and as token of his settlement he must first satisfy a rent to Edo before his Coronation can move forward.

Oba of Lagos is a tenant because the royalty came from elsewherw.....in same manner Oba of Benin is tenant in Edo because the royalty came from elsewhere.

3. Yes, there is something as a non-water people. The fight over Gelegele between Benin and Ijaw has to do with access to water.

Benin has no access to water. How did it get to Lagos. Reconstruct the journey, the boatcrew, the war and the conquest. If you do so successfully you will see clearly there is no way Benin fought Awori.

4 and 5. Aworis have never fought a war. Never!

Aworis have been in conflict with others but have never fought a war.

grin grin

You are about to hear a side of Lagos history you dont know, has never been written and is legitimate and authentic through its oral and cultural facets.

I want you to exhaust yourself first with your hearsay stories before I begin school you on the history of Eko! grin

1. What is the name of the war of conquest?

2. There is no history of conquest anywhere in the world that does not also go with conversion and ownership of land. Why does Bini not own land in Lagos?

3. How did Bini, a non-water people get to Lagos, a water side?

4. Prior to this conquest, is there any history of the Awori's fighting a war?

5. After this conquest, is there any history of the Awori's fighting a war?

So stop quoting me works of new era scholars

Putting that aside.... You didn't bring me archaeological evidence showing ada and eben was also used in ife or atleast a written document From samuel johnson account or samuel Crowther account supporting it since they were Yoruba earliest scholars , if we cant establish the fact that both party used ada and eben at a time how can we now ascertain its originality between both party

I gave you an archaeological evidence dating 15c supporting it was used in benin i was expecting yours but instead you gave me rant......
You will not accept Dmitri's account backed by many world reputable academic institutions but you accepted Olfert Dapper, a writer of fantasy. grin

Ife is the only civilization in Africa that uses indigeneous Sword as symbol of State Rule. That symbol originated in Ife.

Other civilizations of Africa use machette and spears and arrow as their articles of Kingship.

There is authenticity behind it. What is the authenticity behind Bini sword?

Please can someone Name one thing Nigeria has done for the igbos which if left alone the igbos would not have been able to do for themselves either in an independent country or as a confederate state.

Please discuss intelligently
Start from pre1900 and list what Igbo had done for itself prior to contact with whitemen. There is NOTHING!

Take the period between 1900 and 1950, list anything meaningful Igbo did in its homeland. There is NOTHING!

Is there anything Igbo accomplished for itself between 1950 and 2000? Yes, WAR in its homeland.

Here is list of what Nigeria gave you, many of which you squandered.

1. Access to North and Western Nigeria. Manpower used in building the Kafanchan to Zungeru rail line.

2. Access to News Journalism - Azikiwe's Newspaper, The Pilot.

3. NCNC political party -
Ibonized under Azikiwe and mismanaged.

4. Regional Autonomy created -
Self-Determination in East, squandered.

5. President Azikiwe abused power and trust, used ethnocracy in place of meritocracy and filled VC seats, civil service and military positions with Ibos. This was the first push by Ibos to centralize administration and be the dominant authority. Other regions pushed back and rapidly removed Ibos from unmerited positions.

6. Ibo coup 1966 -
What they could not accomplish under political scam (see 5 above), tried to force using terror. Displaced or killed Yoruba, Kanuri, Hausa and Fulani military and political top leadership, Ibos were left untouched.

7. Under Ironsi leadership, Ibonised military promotions, junior Ibo officers were promoted ahead of senior Westerners and Northerners. Parastatals were put under Ibo leadership. Leadership of radio station in Kaduna were subordiated to a non career Ibo. Coupists were arrested and locked up in East to shield them.

8. Ironsi outlawed regional power and centralized all administrations with himself as Supreme Leader. This was fine with Ojukwu.

9. Ironsi killed, Gowon took leadership and began to reverse seniority and leadership arbitrarily gifted to Ibos under Ironsi.

10. Ojukwu did not like this and rebelled against Gowon and questioned his use of Supreme Commander title.

11. Bifra continued the rebellion from 66 to 70.

12. At end of war over-population and high density posed risk to survivors. A rehabilitative program put in place to accomodate refugees and survivors of war.

13. That rehabilitation program has expanded and continues to be the single attribute of growth for Ibo recovery and survival.

If the rehabilitation and accomodation is restricted Ibo would have to find foreign places to go or return to homeland to risk losses and diminished returns under conditions of over population and high density.

On your own you cannot accomplish pace of progress you have now. You are deficient enough that UN may have to step in and prevent massive death resulting from scarcities and diseases resulting from wastes and unsanitary conditions.

Ohanaeze is selective in its defense of Ipob. This allows FG to demonize the group.

Kanu is not blessed with oratory skills. He uses wrong and implicating words which can make it difficult not to doubt his mental readiness for Ipob leadership or sincerity of purpose.

I would say "Nigeria has destroyed its people and robbed them of meaningful life. Where people once looked forward expectantly to the next day, this is now replaced with a despair and constant fear of an imminent death in hands of Islamic bandits using terror to plant religion"......instead of this nonsense chest beating below.

What he says here, under scrutiny, gives wing-lift, and does not contradict, to the Presidency's assertion that Ipob is running a smear campaign and the FG hands are clean.

We have destroyed Nigeria and by the time we are done with them, the name Nigeria will cease to exist.

Since this useless man was sworn-in in 2015 after campaigning, amongst other things, on ending terrorism (they claimed GEJ either allowed it to fester or was directly promoting it because he hates the muslim north), things have not only gotten worse with the once relatively peaceful north-west now just as dangerous as the north-east, but we also find that despite the thousands that have been slaughtered in cold blood, we can't see any terrorists caught, convicted, and sentenced to death! All we ever hear about are terrorist camps being bombed with hundreds of terrorists killed in the process, or we hear of 'repentant' bokites going through rehabilitation and then released back into society!

Notice how they call the ones wrecking havoc in the north-west 'bandits'!? They do this so it can't be said that terrorism which was largely confined to the north-east during the GEJ years has now spread to the north-west! You now also hear of brazen attacks in the southern part of the country, but they've craftily called those ones 'herdsmen'!

A people (especially dumbass Nigerians) get the kind of leadership and governance they deserve!
Very good point! The whole North is under occupation of terrorism, from NW to NE.

What is happening in NW now if it was anywhere in South they would already declare State of Emergency long ago. Out of 7 states 4 are consistently terrorised - Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna.

This is not Nigerian problem. It is North problem!

No fewer than 80 rape cases were recorded in various parts of Anambra State during the COVID-19 lockdown between April and May

The Director of Child Welfare Services in the state Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Children and Social Welfare, Mrs. Nkechi Anazodo, stated this on Monday in Isuaniocha in the Awka North Local Government Area of the state.

Anazodo, who spoke during the United Nations Children’s Fund supported launch of integrated child protection community sensitisation campaign, said there were only 32 cases of rape in her ministry before the lockdown.
She said, “Sexual violence has become the order of the day, especially during this period of lockdown.

“The most worrisome is that some fathers raped their daughters more during the lockdown. In most cases, fathers who rape their daughters threaten to kill them if they report.

“The problem, therefore, is that many people don’t report these cases because they feel that the victim might be stigmatised.

“That is why we are going round the 21 local government areas of the state to create awareness on this problem.”

(1) I can't remeber anyone who said you are saying the truth. You never do.

I can tell you are one and the same person as gregyboy for many reason, the most prominent reason being that you attach the very screenshots that defeat you.

Your screenshot is from S.A. Akintoye's "North-Eastern Yoruba Districts and The Benin Kingdom", Journal of the Historical Society of Nigeria, Vol. 4, No. 4 (June
1969), p.546.

You completely overturned the statement therein (and cut out relevant portion of the screenshot) in order to give your usual fraudulent spin to the effect that Binis produced the clothes.

On the contrary, the statement clearly reads as follows:

"Among the Ekiti, Akoko and Igbominá, the spinning, dyeing and weaving of cotton was perhaps the most important industry of the women.* The strips of their cloths [i.e. the Ekitis', the Akokos' and the Ignominas' clothes] are much wider than the strips of the characteristic Oyo cloths ... .Theirs [i.e. the Akokos', the Ekitis', and the Igbominas'] are of three types - the two-strip type (each strip being about two yards long and about one yard wide) called ikeji , the three-strip and four-strip types called iketa and ikerin respectively, ... .The ikeji was usually made for home consumption, while the iketa and ikerin were essentially meant for sale. In some parts, the ikerin is still referred to as aso-Àdó - meaning 'Benin cloth' or 'cloth for Benin'."

It becomes clear therefore, from your own reference (which you attempted to manipulate), that aso-Àdó is simply a vareity of clothes produced by the Yorubas and sold specifically to Benin to cloth themselves and also resell.

See fuller attachment. Lies don't last. Desist. cheesy

A Pastor knows that the development of his local assembly rests on God and women. Women's influence on church growth is in no doubt.

Women are gifted with the subtle ability to multiply a congregation by word of mouth especially. Hence, a serious Pastor must take women's department seriously.

However, in the attempt to cater for them, he may be misinterpreted, misconstrued and misrepresented. Which raises the critical question.

How can a Pastor draw the line between genuine care for his female members and flirting with them?
Pastor has a wife. The wife has female aides and assistants that work with her. The pastor should minister to general congregation but any personal consultation or support should go to the female elders of the Church. This is Godly, if indeed it is a God-worshipping Church.......and not a pastor-worshipping one!

I disagree over the mark on the two screenshot of yours because, the people that Yoruba met are actually linked with the scarification you showed. If you have come across some Hausa group as I have , you will understand my point. The newer group that populate Yoruba land didn't wear scarification, unless if Ifaodu dictates on “Abiku".

And it is seen in my own lineage as well that scarification dont exist unless Ifaodu sagy such .In fact, there is a terracotta head in the museum to that effect that was found which a close link to Yagba but that mark is of Hausa origin. I am also familair with Oyo history as you do because, an account claimed though “myth" that Sango was the pioneer of scarification which was borne out the mark he told his servant to impress on another , after the Former failed on a task. And on seeing it, Sango liked and commanded to be scarified.

Furthermore, it can also be affirmed that Oyo's pioneer kingly matrilineal lineage was Nupe bloodline . So, it is understandable but such mark is alien to the real scarification Yoruba language speakers have on their face.

On the Yoruba settlement pattern, is actually based homogeneous style with a form of coordinator structure, which isn't in the pattern in Northern Nigeria that you posited as a loss of Yoruba lands across Niger. Interestingly, Yoruba establish her settlement based on monarchy system. And without a Baale, Oba, no settlement is ever established in Yoruba history. So, northern part across Niger was not as a place Yoruba did settled down and owned though Yoruba migrants existed and existing in that region, which is on record that some Yoruba went into Borgu after the desert of Oyo when Nupe invaded her before reestablishment of her (Oyo)/on military campaign.

Lastly, Lokoja is a peculiar case entirely because Yoruba did named her and established her own settlement in that place but not the only settlers in that vast land because it is not a homogeneous settlement in that region.Other ethnic groups do lived as well in that region.
I found a better information with precise reference.

The original two images in the opening of this thread have people with marks.

The mark on their face and the mark on this guys face pictured below are similar, or same.

There is some level of affinity or co-belonging. Wherever the guy below belongs, the subjects in the opening also belong....or are not far off.
