Until we realize that you can support a government and still condemn the government when they do bad, then we won't get our democracy right |

shogbenga: Good evening all the Gurus on this platform.
Pls I need your advice
I intend to change all the internal doors and toilet doors in my personal house. The old china doors that I installed about 8 years ago are peeling off
Kindly advise on type of doors I can replace them with. The most important is DURABILITY. Thanks and God bless. this is why I usually tell people to use iron doors but they will tell you it's not good for internal doors. Eight years down the line, the only thing you will do on iron doors is to repaint it and you have yourself a brand new door. Buildings are meant to last and not act as liability. Here's a sample of door that I delivered to oga Spyder yesterday. It was paid for by another Nairalander

n3xt: Gate Privacy Screen: Ideas needed!
Hi All
I'm currently working on an open gate design (pic 1 below) and I need some design ideas. I have an idea of what I (actually my client...) want - an open gate - but the environment requires some form of privacy. So we agreed to screen off the open part of the gate with either translucent material, steel, decorative screen, plastic or anything nice...
What would you use if you’re the owner of this gate design and why?
Abeg, epp chook mouth
Thanks in advance for your help!
_____ Pic 2 - Translucent Plastic or Polycarbonate used on Gov Dapo Abiodun Gate and Fence Grille
Pic 3 - Translucent Plastic
Pic 4 - Iron Mesh
We are also considering other options like openable back cover for the gate, flame resistant net etc. buy a sheet of this pan and install. Beautiful and strong too just expensive something. Check the two gates and you will understand what I'm talking about

MrOkenwa: I was introduced to a welder that did my metal doors for me and, based on what I found out, your prices are very realistic, even without doing inferior job. I paid the person 35k for 4by7 and 30k for 3by7( Each door has double plates and well coated before painting). This person has a trader that sells his 4by7 doors for 50k in Abeokuta(I sent somebody to go there). As per what the welder told me, The plates are sold for 3,500 each and the key is 5k. He actually asked me if I had any specifications on keys and I said no, just something good. People around are satisfied with his job and he has since gotten the rest of welder works on my site. 1)Burglaries: I took Hajji M designs , in one of his old kobo kobo projects. I paid 178k for 25 of them, various sizes. 2) Entrance/exit door burglary proof. I paid 40k for the one I'll be attaching here. 3)Entrance gate. I paid 250k for the gate. Separate small gate for pedestrian. I'm still looking at the option to either do a concrete or steel scaffolding for my water tank. If I settle for the steel, of course he'll be the one to get it. In conclusion, let people know what they will get for the said amount you're charging them. You have your way around words, always use it to your advantage and avoid being controversial. I contracted you and your detailed explanations and zeal to get the job almost convinced me, safe for your location and the fact that I'm not physically on ground, I have given my jobs to you. Good luck. thanks for your words and encouragements, it meant a whole lot. I will like to do the standing tank job for you sha. Location isn't a problem. Thanks |

Labour for what exactly are you referring to here please,....painting metal doors or gates?? Can it be a typo error?
Semantics matters in my world! over here, you pay according to what you make. Everything has it's own price. If you like sleep on top of one job. You will be replaced before noon. Good morning sir |

These type of color combination no dey pass two hours e come be black. Each of these gates cost at least 3k each. Then you will start buying other stuff for finishing. Tell your local welder the color combination that happened here. Over here, we innovate and it has crashed the cost of production. Another thing I learnt tonight is that labor is paid by day and not by productivity. Imagine paying person 3k per day and he will do ordinary two doors a day. ..

n3xt: What I didn’t show was that they applied body filler like they wanted to paint a car on the gate before painting.
This wasn’t the 1 colour in 1 hour type.
That gate has been painted over 8 years ago and it still remain. buy one tin of sharon paint and the color will never fade. If you want to do big man, add a small tin of vanish and it will be sparkling. Make I hear Dem no finish the painting in one hour. Apply first coat and wait for it to dry and then the final coating. |

I can never search for or find anyone who’d do that amount here.
Dropping mic for tonight.... Badger14, I don’t quote you o
But I’m enjoying you anyway. Thanks for sharing.
We are learning each day. Today, I’ve learnt not to crucify our people here. Their eyes dey see! 1k and the painter will be happy. Less than one hour work. Shey na one color wey be black that doesn't take time to coat |

diordaves: I think you are having a rough and unjustified rough patch and ride. From most of the post directed at you, it is not difficult to see you are being cyber bullied. This is no longer crytical analysis. This is bulling.
I have followed your dignified responses and I wish to offer my support to your effort and encourage you in finding honest enterprise.
You answered and supplied all requested information eloquently and some have turned around and use this against you. How can a common welder speak and write so eloquently. Don't be discouraged na Naija way. Superiority complex with some Nigerians na 5 and 6.
You post pictures, no you must post from cloud. You post concept designs, no you must post all doors from one location. It is never enough. Don't be discouraged. Life is a science. If you are out for honest enterprise, trust me, success will find you. And it will be like magic.
You have not done anything wrong in your response to queries concerning your work so I openly condem any unfounded labeling you as fraudulent. I stand by you and support you in finding honest enterprise.
I recognise you are a human being. I recognise you are trying to find honest enterprise. So be encouraged.
We all need a break or two and a kind (Chi) kindred spirit to make it in life. Say "yes" and your chi will say yes. Those whose palm karnel has been cracked by a benevolent spirit, should not forget to be humble (and kind).
Happy Birthday and many happy returns. thanks for the kind words. It's really uplifting. I know that starting from the scratch is always difficult. I'm a secondary school graduate and I didn't waste my days in school. |
