There is even a Nigerian National Merit Award dedicated solely to academic scholarship in Nigeria.

By negative smartness, I'm referring to looking for shortcuts, man know man, cheating through exams, bribing the authorities, budget padding, exploiting customers, using religion to defraud unsuspecting people, etc.

These are the areas where you will most likely see your country people expressing their "smartness".
