Wow! |
Bad internal culture and lack of social cohesion Personal, social and institutional indiscipline Insecurity and bad national character, scaring away both home and foreign investors, and tourists Too much centralised government and when they are given a task, they are sluggish if we say we are secular, inability to separate church/mosque and state If we say we are religious, lack of regulation of religious institutions and failure to utilise their power in a constructive manner. Mind you there is nothing wrong with societies built on religion.. The USA is still very fundamentally religious even though theyre the ones exporting most of the nonsense on the TV. Even up till now they have a huge aversion towards nudity and profane language..this is due to their religious roots. The same for Saudi Arabia... UK law is based on basic Christian values. But the one we do here is just a stupid type that doesnt produce anything meaningful Covert influences from western entities, people being allowed to hide their stolen money in western banks. If we were to isolate ourselves like china does, i wonder who we would end up electing Failure to adapt to dynamic markets, just oil, oil, oil all the time Inefficient farming techniques, bad attitude to storage, bad attitude to chemical and environmental responsibility, making it difficult to export our delicious fresh produce on a grand scale. Every year around this time you will see thousands upon thousands of rotting mangoes lying around and stinking because nobody could be bothered to store them, process them into juice/jam/preserve or dry them into highly nutritious chips. Our onions, pineapples, oranges, eggs etc taste much better than what i have tasted abroad but how will anybody taste it when we cant even store them for more than a few weeks and we dont know how to preserve things without spraying chemicals all over them, meaning that they wont be up to the standard required for entry into big foreign markets Dilapidated infrastructure and no effort to use enough money to renovate them Bad transport networks and roads, no real effort to restore them Not enough industrialisation Sycophancy and coddling of bad leaders Nepotism and cronyism causing wrong employment, wrong appointment, victimisation and discouragement of youths and professionals Brain-drain of young graduates and highly skilled workers Bad treatment of middle class/public service workers, who are the backbone of any developed society In fact bad treatment of business-owners and people who create jobs for others, leading them to keep maltreating and sacking their own staff unnecessarily. Conversely, lack of good labour laws or legislation protecting the workforce. ...People being owed years of salary/pension meaning that they lack spending power, faith in government and are more likely to subvert the law Decreasing quality of and respect for federal education Too much difference between federal, state and privately owned structures Failure to plan for the future or save for a rainy day... budgets are always stupid and unrealistic and too much of it gets stolen. Every year the nysc camps get delayed because of lack of funds, they know exactly what to expect and project for and still get it wrong every time Lack of checks and balance measures in government and economic institutions |

If a stimulus offers a positive reward, you will go towards it. A negative result, you will avoid it Being conditioned to perform godly acts requires overcoming the temptation to sin (often leading to an immediate gratification which may have negative long-term effects ie. natural punishment and Hell) and thinking of what you may have lost as being re-compensated for in Heaven (delayed gratification) or providing you with the refreshing knowledge that you have "done the right thing". This may lead to increased confidence and self-esteem, even if in the immediate aftermath of your action, you may experience a loss or a misfortune ie. not taking a bribe even though you may really need the money, but having faith that you have obeyed the law and will be provided for by God in some capacity, even though for the meantime, your financial problem remains unsolved. On the plus side, you have no chance of being disciplined or sacked from a job for misconduct, or bringing some type of spiritual "curse" upon yourself by using "dirty money" Also human beings have a built-in need to survive and stay alive (at least long enough to reproduce), which spiritually may account for so-called "selfish" or "evil" human desires. On the other hand, it also may account for the Christian idea of valuing one's self as being "within Christ" and one's body as a "temple of God"... these are ideas that promote individuality and self respect within the prism of a divine relationship with a higher entity. ie. overcoming the biological desire to engage in a pre-marital or extra-marital sexual encounter may feel like a loss in the short-term but will ultimately empower the person's faith since they believe that they are in a covenant with a higher power. In natural terms it will also prevent them from being accused of sexual misdemeanour, abolish the chance of contracting an STI and may arguably strengthen their ties with their spouse. At the same time, human beings are also biologically wired to be social and work with others for "the greater good" in partnerships, families and in groups, which sometimes involves putting one's needs on hold and elevating another's. This aligns with the Christian idea of "sacrificial love" or "selfless service"; indeed it may be why, both neurologically and spiritually, we tend to feel a "rush" of positive emotion after helping somebody else or denying ourselves pleasure and putting someone else first. Biologically and spiritually speaking there seems always to be a battle of balance between different types of primal or "animalistic"/ biological desire. Some of them seem to align more with Biblical principles whilst some go completely against them. This is why some atheists/agnostics argue that one doesnt necessarily need God or spirits to tell him that stealing and killing is wrong..at least most non-Christian societies have already reached this conclusion, and it goes against socio-biological imperatives. But Christians would argue that its the very potential and tendency of humans to act selfishly that means we need help from a perfect guiding source to steer us towards the more positive and altruistic side of our nature. |
aremuforlife:You didnt get me. I said its the right approach but thats the only approach he could/would have taken He doesnt have the wherewithal, tenacity or strength to defend this country in a serious conflict Ok think about it. If something similar were to happen in another country that didnt have business ties with Nigeria, do you think he would really be able to handle the situation? With all the political posturing, body language and Machiavellian technique that it would need? He wouldnt be like Putin or Merkel or somebody with some political backbone, he would still fly down there and take more pictures |
contigiency:Its true but at the same time, this is the approach he would have taken anyway because he is not not really competent and doesnt particularly care about what happens in south africa Even if we needed him to go in all guns blazing, he couldnt and wouldnt Its just a coincidence that it has worked in our favour this time |
