jaxxy: My neighbor experience, it was same people who helped him clean and park into his new house and knew his movement that arranged thieves to come rob the house when no one was arround.
They knew the house well and stole valuables, luckily he alerted the police who traced the boys and they were all caught. So u need to be careful who u let in. Exactly. Some of them begin to resent you even when you try to dash them something. Although I may need the help sha but I'm somehow uncomfortable with it |

jaxxy: I can clearly understand why ur husband doesn’t want strangers cleaning the house there are many funny things that can happen in such scenarios especially these days from strange theft to gathering info about u. I’m never comfortable with strangers working in my house even laborers or handymen like plumbers etc cos sm of them have strange behaviors, next thing Ure looking for Smtn. If I have them around I must follow them or monitor their movements around or have sm1 do it so I can’t blame ur husband. Hmm thank you...I thought I was the only person who felt like that...all those staff wandering about in your house is so awkward.. |

Baldwretch: No, I am not married. I was only assuming lol. And that was a joke, actually, you don't go begging people in tears to give you a fraction of the money they would have otherwise spent as transportation fare.
However, em, however, but, but, I would not grace that occasion with a cheerful spirit knowing full well that someone, in the name of love, spent that much money to attend my wedding. Please, for the love of Jesus Christ and God and everything good, and everything incredibly good, stay where you are abeg.
Hey, midnighter, I am only joking oo, but at the same time I am brutally serious. People should spend money how they deem fit but don't buy me a Bugatti Veyron simply because you want to show how much you love me. My love go turn hate sharp sharp. I don talk my own. We prioritize things differently sha. How can someone spend close to 500k just to attend my wedding? You don't get it, it's about the effort the person went to. When my cousin married people flew from all over and spent a lot because he's our blood! Why would you be sitting there giving yourself grey hairs over somebody's transport to your own wedding Haba I understand feeling uncomfortable when somebody spends on you but the OP just messed up by talking about handshakes and brown envelope. Very stupid attitude |

Too busy wallowing in self-pity to see that he's messing up his family and too arrogant to realise that anybody can lose their job no matter how brilliant they are I feel for him but his behaviour reeks of petulance. Bigcowhorn: Discussion?
Illumina started a thread and you take it seriously? When did you register on NL? And no I missed nothing. Drugs and gangs are not part of 'my sciology' its part of everyday life that fuels crime inter racial hatred. Get used to it. The reason for this thread is a complain to illumina right? Ask her to post screenshots of it here please.
Raise your point all you want but I did ask you to back it up with evidence and you couldn't. provide. In the outset you sounded like you had a conspiracy theory on your hands or something. You were like there's trouble brewing between the US and Cuba and WW3 could be upon us anytime soon which i strongly disagreed with. Turns out you are talking about plain old sociology... men will bond and form groups with people of like mind.
Come now is this much ado about nothing? Hahaha You wrote a post several paragraphs long and seriously admonished the OP at the end, but you weren't taking it seriously and it wasn't a discussion. Now that I'm disagreeing with you, I'm the one taking it seriously, having a discussion and making "much ado about nothing". Again, abeg! |

LilMissFavvy: I had mentioned the word ''pain'' and ''repeated risks''. I am convinced that a serious minded person should be able to break an addiction if it has brought a pain or consequences that has been deep. Someone who isn't serious minded or determined on breaking an addiction will keep wallowing in it with excuses.
I feel anything inhaled, eaten, etc, is far stronger than an addiction that is practiced (betting).Food is also easily available than going to buy codes and playing bets. All kinds of addictions are dumped by people daily, but it depends on a person's determination, seriousness and willingness. I think I get what you're saying now but I disagreed with your language. |

Bigcowhorn: This is why i keep reverting to Latinos to explain to you that all the things you are talking about happens among people of other races period.
Put them all in one area and there will be cohesion issues as they break up and bond to form groups with something in common, usually language, tradition, culture and religious beliefs.. its a very old and established law of sociology. So why don't you acknowledge it instead of trying to bring in other elements that are not what we're discussing? Just because it happens with Latinos it doesn't mean it doesn't matter or people who bring it up don't know what they are saying Somebody is raising a point and you're talking about drugs and white people as if the things people experience aren't real Bigcowhorn: No Caribbean black person will ever complain about rubbish except riffrafts from the streets or Brazilian crack heads who know not their father and mother or their people. This is totally untrue and you completely missed the point of the discussion. Admiring somebody's culture is different from living in the same environment with them for years. I told you I didn't mean violence and you started talking about slums and race wars. Is that part of your sociology too? Abeg |

Bigcowhorn: midnighter talks like the issue is a dead serious one everywhere in the world and that's my problem. It sure as hell isn't. Where will one even find people from the Caribbean living in large enough communities with Black Americans if not the US east coast? Those are gang or crime related conflicts if you dig deep enough, a black gangbanger will fight another for just living on another street for heavens sake talk even less of coming from another community, that's instant hatred and war and its there among every race. Go to New York or Miami, the Colombians and Mexicans will kill each other any time, any day, and they are Latinos all!
Midnighter: There is tension between people of the Caribbean community and the Black American community.
Me: Of course there is cos you are probably looking at the slums and hoods. Go to other parts of town and people will love you. As a black man the white man is who you really have to worry about in the western world not your fellow black man. I didnt say it happened everywhere in the world. I said that there are cohesion issues between black people from different countries when there are large numbers of them in a particular place. Mostly due to cultural reasons. I specifically told you that I wasnt necessarily talking about violence or gangbanging, but because you cant think of any way of answering my point, you keep going back to that even though we both know that saying that there is tension doesnt have to involve bloodshed. A "tension" is just a "tension" until a conflict breaks out! Or you dont know what tension means For example, it is common for (some) Caribbean men to pierce their ears and braid their hair, whereas in Nigeria we see this as a sign of irresponsible living. Typically, on jamming such a person, if one is not making any particular effort to be open-minded, he may be tempted to assume that the person is somewhat immoral and treat him as such, where the guy just sees himself normally because there is no such association where he comes from. The other guy may sense your hesitation or reluctance and become offended, thinking that you are a snob. It's not taboo for Caribbean women to smoke, but it's apparently only for "Ashawo" to us here. Even today I still feel some mild shock whenever I see a black woman openly smoking a cigarette even though I don't judge the person's morality on it. These are real examples that I have observed before and are what I refer to as "tensions". I dont know why you keep reverting to Latinos, slums and drugs because anybody who went to school with Caribbeans or African Americans knows what Im talking about. |

LilMissFavvy: I guess it's all about individual differences. Just like weighing risks before starting a business........I can't understand why anyone would take a ''bad risk repeatedly''.
Gambling is too minor an addiction to render any serious minded person hopeless. Food addiction is far stronger than gambling addiction. I get your point clearly, but I guess it's all about individual differences. Its about individual differences, sure. So its incorrect for you to then claim that food addiction is "stronger" than gambling addiction. Or for you to call somebodys addiction "minor" or say its not for "serious minded" people. Those are all dismissive words that trivialise an issue that is harming the other person. There are banking executives, doctors and other high-flying people who have all fallen victim to gambling addiction. It's a complex behavioural issue and its also affected by other factors like gender, upbringing and genes. It has little to do with whether a person is serious or not but individual psychology. The point is that what hooks you may not hook another person. There was a pathway and journey that led you up to that point where you began to have a problem with food. Its the same thing with other addictions like alcohol, sex, spending, television, anything. Choosing to eat when you shouldnt is as much a "bad risk" as choosing to stake a bet with your last N20. You'd still be setting yourself up for disease and misery later on when your eating habit catches up with you. In fact with our high blood pressure and diabetes statistics, the majority of people in this country take so-called "bad risks" every day with their diet and lifestyle yet they are not stigmatised for it. Im sure you wouldnt like it if somebody told you that being addicted to food only happens with greedy, unserious or "longer-throat" people. That would be ignorant and insensitive, wouldnt it? You could say that food addiction is easier or more common because we need to eat and so we are necessarily exposed to food more than gambling. But its wrong to compare one addiction to another because they are all capable of destroying somebodys life, especially if the person is ridiculed instead of being supported properly. |

LilMissFavvy: Hmmmm....... I still believe that a human should be able to cut off from anything that brings pain, I used to have an addiction, a bad eating habit..... I dumped it. The feeling of winning drowns out the pain, just like the taste of that food or sensation of being drunk drowns out other people's pain until they learn to stop using those things to make themselves feel better and find healthier sources of happiness Addiction is complicated. At times people cant even explain why they are doing what they are doing except that it makes them feel good at that moment |

I feel gambling is carried out by people who got cash to spend. Because they get hooked on the idea that they may win "next time" if they just keep trying, no matter how much money they waste |

forget all these climate change people, coal plants are still being established across Europe and the world - Poland just opened one of the most modern coal fired electricity plant and china is still importing coal to fire its coal plant because of cheap electricity it generate, making their goods competitive and cheap in the international market.
Lets see how we could use coal to generate power here and also for export. Coal powered the European Union countries and America in the 18th century as the energy from coal is one of the cheapest. Have we abandoned it In Enugu you can see them packing so much of it every day. Is it not making money? |

Why should we have so many of such rubbish here? This one inherited Obaship.
Why should someone be able to control so much power and wealth by virtue of mere inheritance and archaic tradition? Well, you have a point but let's just call it "culture". Just like the UK has a Royal family even though a lot of the population would like to remove the crown from their heads. It would help us if we had a viable tourism industry in this country. The UK royals bring in a lot of money because people flock from all over just to see them Its not fair, really, but it would leave a vacuum if we dismantled it.... |

No problem with that, I was just stating the nicest age for a man to marry IMO. Personally when I see 20-something year old guys marrying I find it strange or I think maybe they are doing it for religious reasons. A lot of the 20-somethings I know dont seem oriented towards marriage at all. But of course age isnt the key factor but maturity and capability. I am just speaking in general. |

Yes, I dont expect you to have many problems in a Caribbean country the same way a Jamaican wouldnt encounter too much resistance if he were to come here (as long as he behaved himself).
