BusinessRe: Naira Tumbles To 391/dollar by Mike008(m): 2:03pm On Feb 19, 2016
Brilliance9000:
This country is finished!

Let me see the hypocritical twit that will invoke GEJ. GEJ left office with naira to dollar at 210 and today it's almost 400 naira. GEJ inherited naira to dollar from Yaradua at 165, it stayed at this rate +/-15 for 4 yrs, it was only towards the end of 2014 that we began to see fall in naira largely caused by those who are bent on sabotaging his achievements to make sure he doesn't get re-elected. Compare dollar to naira loss in value under GEJ from 165 to 210 within 4-5 yrs span...that's very reasonable.

However under Buhari from 210-400 in barely 8 months? This is disastrous...an invitation to anarchy. Did you guys noticed that under Jonathan when naira depreciates, it appreciates back within few days. But under Buhar...it only depreciates. Don't forget that Obasanjo and Jonathan had strong, powerful economic team...this administration has zero. Very disorganized government! Emefiele resign honorably and let them run Nigeria like a private cattle ranch in Duara...everything to them is about tribalism.

Keep blaming GEJ and oil price until dollar hits 1000 Naira by July by the rate Naira is falling.
Compare the price of crude oil then and now then you'll know your write-up lacks common sense.
When oil price had not reached an all time low, "Jonathan's people" enriched themselves drastically from the booming oil prices instead of enriching Nigeria.
He inherited 165 naira to 1 Dollar yet couldn't stop the naira from falling further, a phenomenon his so-called "strong, powerful economic team" could have forseen and guarded against.
I think God delivered Jonathan from been subject of an even more disastrous economy, somehow for his neglectful big-heartedness.
Times and circumstances have changed in a short while. Today it is different. The major strength of the economy is weak, that is a common knowledge. If Buhari was president years ago, Nigeria's condition would have been far better now despite the fall in oil prices.

I have not written of Nigeria's chances of having a stable economy.

PoliticsRe: Senate Orders Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission To Suspend 40% Hike by Mike008(m): 6:04pm On Feb 16, 2016
codedguy1:
Nigeria is a wonderful place to be.

Now the senate has ordered that the electricity tarriff should not be increased, (his means they revert back to the former tariff inclusive of the N750 that is being paid regardless of whether you had light or not.

Either way the govt is bent on making the citizens suffer.

They increase the tariff or we continue to pay estimated bills + N750
The N750 fixed charge was still applicable even when the tariff was increased. According to Fashola, the fixed tariff was scrapped but in practice not.
That move by NERC was unscrupulous and unacceptable they should refund what they have already gazumped.

HealthRe: Home Remedy To Treat Mouth Odour by Mike008(m): 9:59pm On Feb 13, 2016
brainy4oli:
As a licenced and practicing dentist, I have to say, u shud stop these lies. U have mouth odour, see a professional. And d dentist is d best person to see.

When mouth odour cases come to my clinic, d usual question I ask them is, "Have u had scaling and Polishing before? If yes, when?" Then I go into other questioning.

Op if u must know, mouth odour has a myriad of causes. A problem with the nose, or antrum (sure u won't knw what antrum means, check it out) can cause mouth odour. Systemic problems like gastro-intestinal infections, obstruction, indigestion. Upper respiratory tract infections could also cause odour from the mouth.
While from the mouth, causes include, a cavity in a tooth, gum infections, calculus or plaque load on teeth, etc.

Halitosis or bad breadth could also simply be psychogenic, meaning the person has no odour but he or she feels that she has mouth odour.

So pls OP, let the professionals do their job. Ur job is to enlighten people to come to us. Thanks.

Meanwhile read my post on the importance of seeing a dentist.

https://www.nairaland.com/2807611/pictures-what-didnt-know-dentist
You've only succeeded in advertising yourself as a "dentist" and perhaps shed a little light on what causes mouth odour which I doubt it's what a person suffering from it would expect from a dentist.
The last time I checked, a dentists primary concern is the teeth and gums.
And as you've mentioned, halitosis has a myriad of causes, so how will a dentist cure a mouth odour caused by infections of the nose, throat, lungs, constipation, indigestion and some liver diseases, which comes under the purview and expertise of other medical personnel other than Dentists? (I did my research too).
You see dentists can only cure teeth or gum-related halitosis even though they may have an understanding of other myriad of causes, which boils down to my conclusion that what the poster posted is not out of place.
We all know how highly medicinal Honey and lemon are considered to be and certainly they aren't toxic, this home remedy is worth a try. It just might be a right remedy for a particular kind of mouth odour.
You are misleading us the more.

Acidosis:
I've always warned Nairaland moderators about posting sensitive threads on the frontpage.

This guy has no point. I've never seen a medical school/college in the world where students, lecturers and visitors are allowed to dress 'anyhow.'

It is not about Unilorin or Covenant or anything anyone wish to spill. I attended a state uni, and this rule is obtainable there.

You can dress like a thug to most of the Engineering faculty in Nigeria. You can dress like a prisoner to a school of Arts, but when you go to a College of Health Science, and in some Law schools, you will never be allowed to dress according to your own desire.

There is nothing wrong with the rules of Unilorin. If I have a Private Medical School, anyone dressed like a thug or dressed as though you're coming to kill innocent patients would be rusticated with an immediate effect.

You know the rules but choose to disobey!

I won't speak about the type of punishment melted on you as I don't know the stipulated guideline. Coming here to lie won't give you your slippers. Take your phone and take a picture of the guideline at the entrance of the medical school and let's know the true Offender and the Accused.

Thank you.

NB: The time you spent taking the photo of your skinny trouser is enough to take the photo of the attached rules at the college's entrance. I've never been there, but these things are applicable everywhere.
Be that as it may, no University rule will stipulate ridiculous punitive measures as corporal punishment and subjugation to inhuman and degrading treatments which is what is in issue here. To an extent, it is permissible in primary and secondary schools but not in higher institutions of learning with (in most instances) a codified code of conduct.
Appropriate disciplinary measures as suspension, withdrawal, rustication, ban etc. as the case may be are applied.

Topics that will flare religious tempers and create acrimony and tensions should not be allowed on NL.

Religion is faith and not intellectualism, when we all die, the truth will be revealed. Living by good deeds, and by all moral standards could best be yet the religion that will lead us to the after life we all believe in, heaven or Paradise, and not by wallowing in the idea that my religion is the best.

This is pure show of crass bravado. Buhari's gra-gra will not get us any where, it will be a clollateral damage. Obasanjo tried it, and we know where that led to.

Buhari should negotiate with the militants. After all, blowing up the pipelines is not hard.
Actually, but these Militants ought to realize there is a country, and there are laws.
Let Buhari try too. I believe the Nigerian military's firepower can outdo the militant's.
As much collateral damage as can be, there be lasting peace if militancy becomes a thing of the past.

PoliticsRe: What Bail Conditions Really Mean by Mike008(m): 10:53pm On Jan 22, 2016
Under the Nigerian Criminal Justice System.
Any of the following Conditions/Terms/Types (however you chose to call it) of bail are usually utilized by the courts or police.

1. Bail on self-recognizance: this is where an accused person is granted bail on the basis of his status or reputation, with the belief that, he will attend his trial. The accused person is not required to enter into a bond or provide sureties.

2. Bail on bond for a fixed amount: here an accused person executes a bond i.e. an agreement, for a fixed amount without a surety that he will appear in court or police station on a specified date. Where the accused person fails to appear in court on the stipulated date, he will be liable to pay the amount stated in the bond.

3. Bail on a bond with surety (ies) : here, an accused person produces one or more sureties who executes a bond on behalf of the accused, guaranteeing his attendance to court. As in the above case, the sureties will be liable to the sum in the bail bond.

4. Deposit of Money Instead of a Bond : here the accused person applies to pay a sum of money as deposit instead of entering into a bond.

Note: because certain bail conditions are at the discretion of the courts, the courts may impute additional conditions to ensure compliance in cases where bail should ordinarily not be granted, e.g. Capital offences. Consequently, courts may demand that a surety must be resident within jurisdiction, own landed property or swear to an affidavit or the accused person deposits his international passport.
