That's why no amount of sensitisation, no amount of protests, curses, pleads will cause any significant change. Rapists know what they're doing is wrong, they also know they'll most likely get away with it and that's why they keep doing it anyway.


We should all be calling for drastic measures (like castration) to be put in place to punish rapists, that's the only solution. In saner countries, even a false rape accusation can ruin your life. But in Nigeria, if you report a rape case to the police, they'll blame the girl. I've seen it happen too many times

I beg to differ. Nobody have the monopoly of rascality. They recognize threats when they see one. Also, they recognize open violence when they see it. They are more vulnerable than you think because the connection they have to those cattles is in many cases, stronger than the connection people have with their villages and communities. You hardly see them leave their cattles.

Once they perceive you have a stronger tie with your village and villagers, and that you will do even abominable things to protect it at the expense of their lives and livestock, they will leave you before you destroy their source of livelihood.

Why have they vacated Ijare community in Ondo State when their cattles were attacked with lightning bolts? Once they see or sense that you are more than willing to do abominable things in order to get desired results, they leave you...

I'm not calling for bloodshed in any way. In fact in Oyo State, what have happened is probably gone, but they must see your willingness to go all in with physical presence, weapons and alertness.

What you need to do is kill every of the herdsmen in self-defense and defense of your territorial integrity. Don't touch their cattle.

After killing them in retaliation, announce that their leaders should come and evacuate their cattle. Make them understand that you have no problem with their innocent grazing animals but their barbaric cattle rearers who killed your villagers. It is understandable and they will care less, so long nothing happened to their cattle.

This is not Jungle Justice but Village Justice.

Exactly the same riots happened under Obama, and have happened in one way or the other for decades.

The issue is this. Black people in the US have been at the mercy of the racist system for a long time. Now, I won't deny things have improved...it used to be far worse (an older relative of mine once turned down an opportunity to study in the US back in the day because of the horror tales he heard from senior colleagues).

The problem is, for many years, black people could be shot by the police, shot even by ordinary citizens (yes, it happened)...and nothing was done. And these things add up and make people angry.

An example. In the late 1940's, a black young man, who had fought with distinction in World War 2, was shot dead , without provocation, by a white policeman. His younger brother, for his own safety, had to be moved to another part of the USA because the night they brought his elder bro's corpse home, an older relative took one look at the guy's face, and saw the face of a very very angry young man, who if care was not taken, would have exacted revenge...which would have led to the whole black community suffering severe reprecusions. A few days later the man was sent to relatives in California (where he thrived well by the way...but that's another story)

The thing is, over and over again, even in these improved times, black males are more likley to be failed by the system. Before this issue with George....there was a case where a white woman called the police on a black man and lied that he was threatening her. IF htere hadn't been recording that black man could have ended up being shot.

What you are seeing is anger that has built up over generations. It is not easy to go away. And yes, it is very self destructive.(such violence drives out investment and jobs from black areas). But it is understandable. And for once, it isn't something that can be fixed quickly by any president...Trump or anyone else.(It happened several times under Obama.). You cannot fix anger that is generations worth.

For those buying properties in that Lekki area, particularly between Ikota and Sangotedo, there are a lot of Agric C of Os given for 20 or 30 years which are close to termination. In fact, there is one Budo Farm C of O that faced something similar. The problem is that those who held the Agric C of Os have resold to other persons who have now built. Because they saw C of O, they just bought the land and built, not knowing the difference between Agric C of O and other types.

Unfortunately, the government is not renewing these Agric C of Os, instead they are giving the parcels of land to new allottees which would now be residential C of Os. The new allottees are not those who bought from those with Agric C of Os, but the original landowners who the holders of the Agric CofO bought from. Those who bought and built with Agric C of Os would now have to face those issued new C of Os by the government.

In the end, they would be forced to pay Ratification fees to the holders of the new C of O. Ratification which would run into Millions of Naira.
