Lionofdjungle: Now you know. If they are asked to go to schools they will say it's haram and rather go to Qur'anic schools. I'm not saying one shouldn't be versed in religion but there is time for everything. Religion should play a backseat (if it has any seat at all) to practical, functional knowledge. Why teach a child Arabic when the lingua franca is English? When the language of international trade is English? Would you not be better off teaching these children mathematics as opposed to wasting hundreds of hours of their lives on Quranic recital? |

Yes, as long as Nigeria remains one, the North will remain a parasite on the rest because of all leaders in the North, only SLS is ready to face the truth. But even SLS is part of the problem - he has continued many of the cultural practices that have caused the north to be as it is. He has continued the nepotism. He has maintained the culture of overbreeding. He has maintained the culture of child marriage. He has maintained the myth that Islam is not a dangerous philosophy. So, while it is true that he has spoken a lot of truth he too is part of the problem. He could have used his office to set a better example to the millions of northern sheep but chose not to. |

The future Lagos is a city that would embrace all nationalities and people of every color and creed. That's the Lagos Ambode is building.
A Lagos where the color of your skin nor the variation in your accent would serve as a barrier to your potential.
And just FYI, that lady is probably doing that artwork Pro bono- not receiving a dime for the work. You should embrace your own first. You don't make your own home more accommodating for others than your own children. |

Any multicultural, multi ethnic nation or organisation has to continue do ethnic balancing in all considerations. You either do it or perish. Nigeria has refused to restructure and we have no minimum acceptable standards. The MSS is definitely too low . otherwise, this clown would not have gone as far as he has No, you don't have a quota system. Instead you ensure that each region takes charge of its own affairs and its own resources. He has said several times that Nigeria needs to restructure, as have others. But it's almost as if people are still afraid of the military in Nigeria, despite all of the mess that they created. |

I agree with his comments on the road from Abuja to Kaduna, I couldn't understand what people were crying about.
However, not being able to pay with a card for plane tickets at the airport is ridiculous. Likewise the lack of ATMs.
And I find it hard to believe that no enterprising soul sought to set up an eatery at the airport. I'm sure there are several people who inquired. |

Meanwhile you are yet to provide a credible source for the lie told by Ambode about the phantom isolated GDP of Lagos state. You can't tell the difference between Lagos stats and Nigeria or are you intentionally playing stupid... I reiterate that you don't know what you are talking about and are now hiding behind silly games because my point stands. GDP per capita is higher in Lagos than Kenya. |
Phones › Re: Infinix Phones Cost Far Cheaper In Kenya Than Nigeria, Why? by mmsen: 9:21am On Apr 17, 2017 |
seguno2: Yes, Ambode was telling lies as usual. I repeat, there is no credible separate information about the GDP of Lagos state. If you find it, share it. Are you suddenly too lazy to find out the meaning of HDI and the ranking of Lagos/Nigeria and Kenya? How did you become suddenly lazy? So when you want proof I find it but you can't find proof to substantiate your tales I'm lazy? You made a claim that you cannot prove and now you're hiding behind cheap insults. Your arguments have no basis - you have no evidence that Ambode lied about GDP (or about anything else). You cannot prove that HDI in Lagos is lower than that in Kenya. |

I don't know about any more hard work than walking long distances just to rare cows.... Nigerians are hard working...we are not just being treated fairly by the ruling class, though that would soon come to an end Hard working for sure but also cowardly. By now all of these Emirs, Sultans, Obas and whoever else should have brought out onto the street and lynched alongside the Senators, most of the governors, LG chairpeople and former heads of state (especially the military criminal elite). Instead people prefer to bury their heads in religion than confront the crooks who have made their lives difficult. Especially the poor who cry about their lot but are afraid to take action but would rather take cheap handouts when they come their way. |

seguno2: His point is well made. Bragging about GDP size is senseless when the standard of living, as reflected in the Human Development Index HDI, is terrible. Lagos state is a terrible place to live compared to Kenya. No more, no less. If Lagos has a much higher GDP (per capita and PPP) then how do you come to such a foolish conclusion? |
Phones › Re: Infinix Phones Cost Far Cheaper In Kenya Than Nigeria, Why? by mmsen: 8:06am On Apr 17, 2017 |
GERALD710: China has a GDP ten times bigger than South Korea or Switzerland. The average Chinese has a faaaaar much lower standard of living than the citizen of either two nations. Population of Lagos is less than half of Kenya's, while the GDP is significantly greater. What is your point? |

Rilwayne001: And it's bad to marry a teenager?
And again what's bad in giving birth to 12 children in so far you can cater for their needs as well as giving them basic education?
And his opinion should be discarded because you feel he himself has not been practising what he's preaching? I did not say that his opinion has no value or should be discarded - I was very clear in saying that I agreed with his point. However, it is necessary to acknowledge that his personal choices make him a hypocrite and a part of the problems that he is now speaking about. People in the north pay attention to and look to emulate men of his ilk. It is indeed stupid to marry a teenager, she was betrothed to him when she was 16. She is not mature enough to make a lifetime commitment, nor should she have to marry a grandpa. Northern Nigeria suffers from overpopulation hence the draw of Boko Haram - it doesn't matter if he can cater for 2 children, he is in a position to influence the culture. He could have chartered a new course for northern culture by being an advocate for smaller, more manageable families. Unfortunately he has continued the practice of having a large family as a sign of 'wealth'. |
