Akdegreat:Because they were trying to secure hardware or have you already forgotten how the Americans stopped Nigeria from buying arms or how the South Africans stopped a shipment of Nigerian arms. |
Buhari's manifesto seems to be very scant. Promises without a plan. That is the definition of a wish. As to Boko Haram - this is an age old local problem that has been inspired by other Islamic insurgencies to take on the character that it is now. The truth is that there have always been such groups in that part of the world - this is not the first time that former almajiris have hidden behind their religion to unleash their anger on those around them. Unless either candidate has a plan to usurp the power of the traditional and religious rulers, these violent attacks on unwitting civilians will remain a problem. |
Kay17:It IS prostitution. Marriage is (usually) prostitution as sanctioned by the state and the religious bodies. Women ask what a man can do for them but most men do not have the sense to ask what a women will do in the long run. |
Only two real reasons. 1. Prostitutes are everywhere - women like money more than they like men (or even themselves) 2. Some men do not wish to waste their time talking to/lying to a young lady - they have a physical need that they need to satiate but they do not desire an emotional attachment |
OP you have a peculiar understanding of the word 'beauty'. |
Redoil:I've never been to those places. Why can't you embrace the positive? |
Old news. |
royalnose:The difference between Osun state and the ones that you named is that Kano is a major commercial hub and Kaduna has its share of commercial activity. The problem with this governor is that he does not seem to understand that his job is to create an environment whereby commerce can thrive. Simply redirecting Federal revenue to himself and civil servants is poor governance. |
richidinho:Abuja is Boko Haram country, sadly. A beautiful city blighted by the insecurity that comes with unfettered reproduction in some parts of Nigeria. It makes sense to have troops in Abuja. It makes sense to have troops in Kano, likewise Maiduguri. In light of the insurgency in the north of the country and their campaign of senseless violence what sense does it make to have stretched resources parading themselves in Lagos? |
Welcome to the 21st century General Buhari, You'll probably find that most of your ways are completely incompatible with modern day life in a nation striving to move forward. |
IGBOSON1:The problem is that it is not a perfectly good system of government. But I have also argued that those states that cannot support themselves should be amalgamated into areas/states that can. Sadly, the Nigerian obsession with the importance of petty linguistic (or religious) groups is of greater importance than progress. |
“In fact, the state inherited 50 per cent of all the workers in the old western state and more than 75 per cent in the old Oyo State. “I was meeting my wage bill of over N3.6 billion with N4.6 billion federal allocation until July, 2013 when the Federal Government announced a decline of about 40 per cent allocation to states. If you are relying on Federal allocation to pay wages then you have too many workers. Those positions that you claim you inherited should have been phased out - that is what a competent leader would have done. |
Why are they in Lagos? Should they not be in the north east? Or even Kano? Where did the election violence take place last time around? Where is it most likely to take place this time around? |
Good write up 2. Pa Awolowo in many cases has shown selflessness and statesmanship in his approach and utterances. For instances after the results of the 1979 elections were declared by NEC, he did not go about on a campaign as to cause disaffection in the populace against the regime of Shehu Shagari. He took the defeat in good faith and concentrated more efforts in developing the states that his party had won in the elections. This attribute is lacking in Tinubu as you constantly hear his venomous and incisive statements that are a huge security risk even at a time like this with boko haram and the threats to security of the nation. This is what I do not understand about modern Nigeria. We have a federation, why do we not run it as a federation? The position of President should not have as much power as it currently has in Nigeria. Let every one who wishes to be a leader develop their own area first. Those that do not have a track record of developing their own locality should not be considered for larger, more taxing roles. |
Where did they pluck 20 trillion dollars from? And why are these women's groups forever portraying women as victims? |
One of the best pieces ever uploaded on Nairaland. Good job OP. |
EroticAngelina:1. 'London' is not a country. 2. All of those countries accept a lot of Nigerians, some would argue too many are accepted |
Usmannabeel:Has anyone ever told you not to? How will Arewa survive with a large population of illiterates and their uncaring slave-master - the disproportionately Western educated Fulani elite? Have you thought about that? Have northern governors been impeded in developing their states? And if so by whom? |
breadandbutter:You don't follow the news, Ghanaians have been protesting for over a year. Inflation protests: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-28473594 Power shortages protests: http://news.yahoo.com/ghana-opposition-protests-power-shortages-190544826.html |
OP, I think you know why. Such women are in it for the money - both the wife and the LovePeddler. |
There has never been (nor will there ever be) a shortage of ashewos. |
BlackMaria:None of these monarchs have a place in a progressive society. |
Plane crashes happen almost every week. It isn't much of a prophesy. Why do they (self titled 'men of god') never foresee something specific? |
"I learnt that it is faith that decides whether something will happen or not" Hilarious. What traumatic experience did this guy go through to latch onto such a nonsensical idea? |
These men are disgusting but why does no one appear to be monitoring the whereabouts of these girls? What do these parents believe is their parental duty? |
Ubenedictus:If your brother stabs me and you are jailed as a result is that just? 1 John 2:2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. |
Deltagiant:I know all about the US domestic situation prior to Reagan, I also know that it was largely caused by American manufacturing decline, poor economic and foreign policy decisions. Reagan continued many of these dreadful foreign policy choices, primary of which was the escalation of the Cold War which was good for the military industrial complex (and the economy) and a began a futile war on drugs which was good for the military and law enforcement but terrible for American society. Reaganomics is also the reason why the World Bank was pushing SAPs, the same programs that ruined the economies of many a developing nation including Nigeria. |
Those that desire a separate legal system should be free to secede. |
Deltagiant:We all know who their target audience is. The same people who felt compelled to join Boko Haram are the same people now shouting 'Sai Buhari'. Jonathan is disliked but if the APC were serious why could they not find a more credible candidate? P.S. As much as people like Madiba he really didn't do much to change the landscape of South Africa - the same inequalities persist. There was no land reform during his tenure and very light economic reforms that failed to touch the overwhelming majority, those that have benefited were at some point allied with the ANC. Reagan and his Reaganomics and the lightly regulated banking system led to the credit crunch that led to a Savings and Loans company crisis and has been seen most recently with the severe credit recession that the western World is only just emerging from. Reagan also tripled the American national debt to the point that when he left it stood at 2.8 trillion - America will never be able to repay its debts as a result. |
The Guardian has not been a credible paper for a while, at least since the old man died. For the record - I don't have a horse in this race, just preaching caution against listening to such an irresponsible publication. |
