Christianity EtcRe: Are There Additional Benefits Attached To Midnight Prayer? by modele2(op): 2:25pm On Aug 12, 2013
Dbeliever: The christ founded church (CATHOLIC CHURCH) believe that prayers are mostly answered by our creator when offered at the divine hour 3:00 o.clock. The church derives credence from the scripture text which indicates that Jesus christ died the third hour and thus the mercy of God was activated on humanity. The catholic church refers to 3:00pm as the hour of divine mercy with its attendant prayers. If this particular time should be at night i think it should be as a result of difference in time zone and should not be in Africa.
The divine mercy prayer is just one of the numerous prayers said by catholics. I have never heard of it being the most effective time for all prayers in general. It only applies to that particular devotion for that particular reason. But i could be wrong.

plaetton: M.o.Ron, the question has been asked before, why does your devil only have a special fondness for molesting black African Christians?
Didn't Jesus die to save you from the so called devil?
And why hasn't god and his army been able to defeat this troublesome devil?
Why haven't your prayers and those of a billion Christians been able to defeat the devil?
And lastly, why is the devil scared of atheists?
I think the belief in withches & demons are directly related to the degree of civilization. Becos the old church used to burn witches at the stake and the likes. I am not saying witches and demons are not there o, infact they live and operate within us and it would be foolish not to acknoledge that they exist. But the oyibos have learnt to use science to explain some things while in our own case when we cant explain most things....we blame it on the demons. smiley Besides they still have witches(though now its sounds fashionable to them), seyances and psychics ..My take

krispycash: night or day God Almighty, hears it all. People prefer midnight prayers for certain reasons, less distractions being the number one reason, makes it easier to focus and listen to your inner spirit as that is the being God talks to. Also, spiritual activity is higher and the early hours of the day...usually between 12 midnight and 3 am are considered to be the peak of spiritual activities as they tend to mark the first hours of a new day/ beginning... that does not mean that daytime prayers are not as effective.
Try praying without your clothes anything from 12 midnight. Worship then pray.
Without your clothes?......like really!!, thats another one o...interesting

pDude: So God has selective listening? grin grin grin

When the side of the earth faces away from sun and everywhere becomes dark, God's ears becomes more receptive to prayers? cheesy

So God hears more in the night. But during the daytime, His ears suddenly close up and hearing becomes difficult cheesy

Hahahahahahahahaha! Una nor go ki pesin for nairaland o. cheesy
lollll. Very true ...But I cant really argue with the better concentration part...with respect to the person praying
Christianity EtcRe: Are There Additional Benefits Attached To Midnight Prayer? by modele2(op): 10:40am On Aug 12, 2013
plaetton: If there is a kingdom of darkness, what exactly is your business with waging your socalled war on them?
Didn't Jesus die to save from the trouble?
And why isn't god, with his army of angels not waging and and not having defeated this demonic kingdom thus far?
Infact speaking from a purely human and i guess lazy point of view...why go rustle their feathers. I buy that.
Christianity EtcRe: Are There Additional Benefits Attached To Midnight Prayer? by modele2(op):
Thus silence, peace and quiet. I think i like that reason, especially if you live in a noisy area and thats the only time there is piece and quiet. The the fact that most visions in the bibile occur at night...thanks i never thought of that.

Thanks for your reply

I say people should be honest with themselves, contrary to what we have been told...not everyone is maternal or paternal. If you know you don't have what it takes to be a good, emotional available parent...do the world a favor and pack up shop.
I agree...but where there is a problem is that your maternal or paternal 'feelings' are most times governed by station in life, experiences and even age. And these situations change. I remember as a younger woman...if i see childern sitting in a church pew i make sure i sit at least 5 pews away...very delibrately. Well fast foward years later, i got married and had children, due to social expectations and the love and maternal 'feelings' i have for them cannot be explained. So for me its a risk one shouldnt take especially as a woman....we have a limited window period tongue

Christianity EtcAre There Additional Benefits Attached To Midnight Prayer? by modele2(op): 1:43pm On Jul 31, 2013
I recently joined a new society or prayer group and at a meeting everyone was talking about how difficult it was to stay awake for midnight prayers. I held my self and at a point had to blurt out...'ah ah must you pray at midnight? Sleep when you want to and give the Lord more alert parts of your day'. You could have heard a pin drop then i got several lessons on how important midnight prayer was...blah blah blah. (demons operate at night was the only reason that stood out smiley . I was hardly convinced especially when i tried it for two days.

So i bring it to the house, do people have any experience on how extra special midnight prayers are? Is there any advantage tied to time of prayer? Honest views and personal testimonies are very welcome.

ps.if there is another topic that addresses this pls let me know, my search turned up nothing when i tried.

fujirice: Start your own story man/woman.....gosh!
When a writer comes to a public space like nairaland, it is to receive both criticisms and praise....the 'if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say' does not play here. I gave my own honest view. I love stories and was so eager to read but some character names very honestly put me off, so much so I didn’t read past the second pos. That’s why I thought I had to write in for the writers benefit as a fair critique. The onus is now on the writer to either disregard or give it a thought when starting another story. Sorry it rubbed off on you wrongly...cheers

ps from the amount of posts and 'begging' for more i am certain its a nice story.

I experienced this..youre sore for about a week or so. Then youre its fine. KY Jelly is a good investment...

And those pitying her husband..Dont bother, the satisfaction of knowing you are the first and only for someone that is yours is well worth it. These are teething problems that would pass.
FamilyRe: What Do You Think Is Wrong With This Couple? Pls Read! by modele2: 1:29pm On Jul 23, 2013
I almost rolled over laughing.

My dear this happens to me from time to time.It has its seasons....Let me tell you my experience.

First- the question where are you?/Where are you going. ALWAYS brings out the worst in some men well let me just say my husband(hes the only one i know), for them you are trying to tie them to your apron strings. For my husband i dont think he has ever answered that question without a rude remark or insult. Moral of the story i have trained myself not to ask, if he wants to say where he is going fine if not fine. You cant tie a man down.

Second- A form of abuse. It is not only when you hit a woman that you abuse her. Insults and demeaning comments is a type of abuse. For some men that dont hit, this is a way out. They try to potray you as stuid, dumb e.t.c. In my own case he uses downright insults that if you ever try to use on a man they would call family meeting for you. I believe someone or something is biting them, it could range from money, external brainwashing(men in bearparlours/close male friends/controlling mothers)extended family concerns, work or job security concerns to another woman. They want to lash out their fustrations and the best outlet is the one who is 'under' them , their loving wives. In my own case, a warning solved this, at least for the time being, communication has been better for about a week smiley Infact i didnt know the warning would work. i told him, he was being abusive and i didnt like it, that i didnt deserve it, that if he had things bothing him he shoulkd bring it up and share lets solve together and stop using me as a buffer. That he should be aware that a woman had a sharper mouth and it was out of respect i havent used it.

Third - Communication skills. IT took me time to understand that most times we were on different wavelenghts. Later when i understand his point of view it is like eureka...so thats what your meant or had in mind. So my dear, try to also listen more. When asking questions its to understand and not to challenge. Any thing that appears as a challenge would recieve a push back and degenerate to a quarel. Sometimes its not in your question but in your tone or body language.

Fourth - Continue with the petting, hugging, kissing e.t.c. have patience they would pay off in the end.

Why is man so selfish. This pipeline vandalisation is so annoying, as they are patching one hole upstream, they are tapping another one downstream and the cycle continues.

They vandalise the pipelines and go home to meet the darkness they have caused, then curse the government and buy fuel for their generators....This is only the begining. Till we learn as a people that when we commit social crimes like this we affect our parents, childern and grandchildren. We would never progress.

Humm. congratulations...When i was reading your story my mouth was wide open.

But what is going to happen now...he would continue milking his widow friend and of course satisfing her, the courts ruling has made your being still married to him not his fault so he can always use that as a defence to the widow if she asks. Then once in a while he can meet you in a hotel, since you love him and are still married to him. The guy is going to leave the NIGERIAN MALE dream.

Dont agree to that last part of the dream till he comes back to his sences ooooooo.

May God in his infinite mercy give you the grace, zeal and means to complete the work you have started with your children..its your husbands loss.
FamilyRe: Should A Housemaid Clean The Couple's Bedroom And Dress The Bed? by modele2: 1:27pm On Jun 28, 2013
@poster so madam should dress it abi....i hope you would assist her some times..always looking for more work for the woman as if what they have on their plate is not enough.

As some people have cited. to each its own, everyones orientation and marriage blueprint is different. Besides it also depends on your living quaters e.g room and parlour e.t.c:DAnd i am most certain that unless through diabolic means that someone cleans your room dosent make the person a husband snatcher candidate

That said..I personally dont allow ANYONE into my bedroom. I clean, make bed and even do the bathroom my self, simply because i feel it is an invasion of my sanctuary, its a form of exercise and i dont think anyone can do it as well as i would. thats all.
Wow,,, thanks for this expose
we have a long way in this our country
Mazi_Omenuko:

Now I have to comment. . .

Someone said this was a pyramid and I couldn't agree more. Inasmuch as this story looks fictious, its real and a clear example of what is happening in our secondary schools. Waec cannot deny knowledge of such. Its an open secret, and it gets worse.

Students travel far and wide to write exams, so the principal is left in a dilemma of either approving such, or risk loosing his students to other willing centers.

And for those marking the scripts, trust me, waec does not encourage detection of malpractice while marking scripts. When you mark these scripts and observe that students are writing the same thiing, you are expected to fill some forms and present to your coordinator. After a rigorous process, most of which involving extra stress from your own part, you are paid one naira (yea, one naira per group of suspected malpractice papers). And by the next year, you will automatically be dropped from marking waec papers, reason is unknown, but its not unconnected to the fact that you reported a supposedly malpractice. Again, if you notify them of a possible malpractice, you will be invited to a waec panel to tell them how it is a malpractice center. The panel might hold at illorin or makurdi. Worse still, they will grill you like you are trying to frame a bunch of innocent students, since the original center supervisor did not write anything negative against the center during the main exam.

So what we that mark the question papers does is to grade them like that, just mark and pass. Its even easier for the marker because you end up allocating almost the same grade to the students, since they wrote the same thing; by so doing, you can mark more packs and get more money cool

@Mazi-Omenuko....can you please say which waec marking zone you operate from. On reading your post i was aghast and went to find out. I met and asked several WAEC markers,I can trust them completely. and the person laughed and said your story was not true. That they are encouraged and even paid extra to blow the whistle on exam malpractices. The only snag is that some of them would then have pity or look at the scripts and rationalize that the person would fail anyway and not even bother to blow the whistle.

I think only one reply to the posters question has been answered. How do men feel. Well I was keen Becos I present ly weigh 8kg more than I did pre marriage and babies. I watch what I eat and recently began 30 mins work outs a day. Only for my husband to warn me that he loved my new full weight and butter and that I should stop the workouts. Honestly I look fuller and more voluptuous than I did pre marriage. I weighed 58kg. I have now resolved to just maintain the orobo. Not to add any more, so I wount hate myself.

All these circle and ends of the earth people...PLEASE STOP, thats what not this thread is about. Common figure of speech and literary style is what is causing commotion!

@poster, many people have advised you well. I believe your only valid concern is with your kids, all you have to do is keep doing what you are doing. Since he has accepted to sow the atheist seed when they are older...its fine, it could evenhelp them become better christians. Their soul is of God, you just do your best to nurture and let the holy spirit take control.

Also be the best wife you can be, if he that is not a christian is such a good man, then it means you that claim to be a christian has to be a better woman, set good examples for him, you have got big shoes to fill.

PS i also learnt something from you i.e. poster i had always tot that it takes only the fear of God to beget a good, faithful husband, now i know there could be other ideologies that work to the good of a marriage. Cheers
