My good people, sorry for the delay. I have finally gotten a job that is just wonderful. It is close to my house, the salary and salary prospects are very good and it is in my profession which is something I had altogether given up on. I was initially to resume work tomorrow bt due to their relocation I will probably be resuming early January. I am just too happy. I want to thank you all for your prayers especially Ogakpatakpata who really helped me with prayers and words of encouragement, my sister Justi who kept sending me mails and encouraging me, Henrimoto my sugar pie who kept checking up in me and Namqui for his continuos prayers. Also every other forumites who kept praying ans supporting me I pray that joy will never leave your lives. As for those still job searching I pray that so you will rejoice even more than I have!

Wow wow wow, can't believe all these I am reading. Phone went totally blank a few days ago and to finally log in with a friends phone and see this kind of pathetic news is just disheartening. Hmm, that means those of us that are already here should be very grateful for what we have . Hmm, full aggressive search is nw the order of the day!!

Hey not neccesarily. Dubai is essentially a desert and rain fall is not common dats y its such a big deal when it happens although its been happening a bit more often over the years due to climate change and all.

Good morning Henri. I'm fine oo. Since I'm yet to get the kind of job offer that I want iv decided to engage in some other profitable ventures to keep myself busy. Hopefully the UAE will win this expo 2020 bid and that will bring a whole lot of job opportunities. With the new year approaching there are bound to be a lot of vacancies as well. I guess I'm being a bit picky in this job search thing. What of you? When are you coming to join us in this green desert??

justi4jesu: Yes we always advice them not to expect so much when coming down here because it is not easy and if they would read through this thread from pages 1 to the end, am sure everything will be self explanatory by then. So dont do away with your good position in Nigeria only to come down here and be disappointed.

Hi Justi, I think another factor that makes many Nigerians coming here with good degrees and experience to take up menial jobs in the fact that they are desperate to obtain any available employment letter before the expiration of the one/two months tourist visa.

@nostring, as Ogakpatakpata stated, things in the malls can be expensive. However, whenthe stores are on sales you can get some really quality products at unbelievably cheap rates. E.g Koton had a 50-75% sales and in adition they were doing buy 1 get one free! Splash, nine west, etc also do such sales and nine west currently has a buy 1 get 1 free sale on. So you might want to check out the malls once in a while.

Err Mr. Deonostro, they should be very careful but the should click your signature profile and go to your travel agency website right? Mr Agent, this is a Do It Yourself thread. Agents are not well-received here. Even if you truly are a genuine agent, pls look for your clients elsewhere befor you get banned permanently by our moderator.

Lol, my not staying in deira was not really by choice and I know that deira is where the news vine for jobseekers really is as different nationalities reside there. But its all good, will do the best I can online and attend whichever walkin interviews I hear of. Tanxs!!

justi4jesu: Oh okay, you see let me tell you that in deira you get many infos and what happens in Uae, I equally don't stay in deira but I go there often. Deira is full of good and bad, if you are wise and careful then you are fine there.

For instance, a lady that came to dubai sent me a mail from this forum and said please I need a shared accommodation but she then shouted ' I DON'T WANT DEIRA ooo PLS' I laughed and asked her why and she told me she heard there are so many nigerians there and she doesn't want to see any nigerian because she has left them in Nigeria and she doesn't want somewhere that will make her feel she is still in Nigeria. And she stayed far away from deira and was bored without info for jobs and certain things because people she shared the room with were already working so there was no info for her for walkins and no African restaurant to eat and she wasn't happy but eventuallyshe got a job by applying online. So if you don't have info then you need to always be online. That surely helps.

justi4jesu: You are welcome, nice to know your microsoft office skills are great. Lol..no problem but excel is very important, but you get very good in excel only when you have gotten a job and you work with it everyday so having a little knowledge about it is fine.

But come to think of it, if you live in deira, that is the centre for imformation, so you should keep your ears down for available jobs and walkins.

I will also advice that if you desire to work in an office either as a Secretary,Receptionist or Admin, you should be good in Typing and have Vast knowledge of Microsoft office(which includes word,Excel,ppt,Access etc). Those are the basics of what they would look out for. Computer literacy is highly important.

@Ola, The fact is that dubai is a big city with different nationalities, opportunities and events. Therefor, people have different experiences, opinions and ideas. What one person has experience will influence their advice and this May be different from the next person. Justi and Ogakpatakpata are 2 separate individuals. They didn't come to dubai together and so they do not have the same background and experiences in dubai. We cannot expect them to both give the exact same advice unless it's something fixed, for example getting the visas. I think we should not make a big deal out of their differing opinions as they are not intentionally contradicting each other. No matter how well you think you are prepared or how well someone preps you, you still have to come and experience it for yourself. They are only guiding. So I suggest that any intending traveller listens to both advice and choose the one he/ feels comfortable with, because when you do get to dubai, circumstances will choose the remaining for you.
