Some do testify about what God did through that medium. The shadow of Peter healed the sick. i didnt watch the video but did they kneel or bow to the chair? |

validman7: there was this argument I had with some folks way back in school that Catholics worships idol. many of them were Anglican, I happened to tell them the history of Anglican church, how King Henry left catholic to marry a 2nd wife in order to maintain his dynasty.. they couldn't believe at first. but u know google was there to help out.. they were perplexed. I told them if catholic is a sham then Christianity is also a sham.
I ain't a catholic BTW. True. I started attending the catholic church in sec school. And I can say that, despite the fact that religion typically excludes logic and rationality, the catholic church is the closest in combining faith with reason/logic. Most of the arguments against the catholic church are arguments against religion in general. If I weren't attending the catholic church, I might have been a theist but one who subscribes to no religion. However, I am still not a Catholic even though I attend the catholic church as I don't agree with all the doctrines of the church. |

I will give you a clear details on how Catholicism gave right hand of fellowship to the Islam. Catholicism could not stop Islam from springing up so they signed a treathing that Islam should help and eliminate the protestants that stands against the Pope supremacy. That is why Islam and Catholics have things in common. The Islam has one pattern of mosque, that is the pattern of the pope cap. And they also introduce chaplets to them, Catholic is the only church the Islam respect.
To confirm this why will Catholic have a parish they named our lady of Fatima ? who is this Fatima ? Fatima is the daughter of Mohammad. Why this relationship ? Fatima is a city in Portugal where the marian apparition happened - it doesnt refer to Mohammad's daugther https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%A1tima,_Portugal |

People that argue this tithing thingy come off as people with low self esteem and inferiority complex with high aka-gum mentality. One thing I know for sure is Freeze is doing this for the followership that this could bring to his pocket once you give it to freeze that he won the argument that tithing is wrong, your other submissions become nullified. Freeze never said not tithing will improve your finances. and there is absolutely no correlation between arguing against tithing and low-self esteem/inferiority complex. |

Sapiosexuality: They've got the right to. I'm not on the rights to think for yourself but on the right for healthy thinking. Their are some women who love to be beaten by their men and a make up sex followed afterwards. That is erroneous thinking and because it is your opinion or right doesn't make it right. It shows a worrisome level of mental incapacitation. You don't get beat up and say it doesn't affect you negatively. We can't because equity and equality is not a matter of subjective thoughts. Like I wrote above, having love for canes and defending it with 'preference' is something we all should worry about. Whatever is right is right no matter how you look at it. It is not a matter of your opinion. Great! so we are back to the question of the existence of an objective truth/good. The idea of an objective truth is an anti-thesis to the concept of liberalism - which is what feminism is based on. The masochist derives pleasure from pain e.g. being whipped and the Liberal-ist will say the Masochistic person has a right to request pain as a means of his/her satisfaction. It would then be right for her to be beaten (if she requests it) to satisfy her pleasurable desire. The liberal-ist will argue why you think it is wrong when she wants it.We can argue so many things in this fashion. However, since you believe in the concept of an objective truth, which I agree with, what is the objective definition of equality and equity for all humans? |
Culture › Re: We Should All Be Feminist by monex(m): 5:06pm On Oct 29, 2017 |
Sapiosexuality: Does your argument imply that we should leave men who think they have a divine right to beat their women to their own decisions? I said as far as it does not affect another negatively. remember that this is the liberal school of thought that drives even feminism. Beating your wife affects her negatively. I know women who cannot marry a man who is not prepared to be the head of the home. Are you saying those women do not have a right to think for themselves? Sapiosexuality: That is the crux of the matter. We can't reduce it to a subject of preferences why shouldn't it be reduced to a subject of preferences/interests and the opportunity to pursue those preferences/interests. As a woman, I want to be anything i want to be - from a CEO of a fortune 500, the president of a nation, a Bus driver, a full time house wife etc. Shouldn't I be allowed to? I shouldn't be forced into a box due to my gender. That's what I understand by the gender equality (equality in opportunities). Sapiosexuality: If a man doesn't like equity, we won't go down to his level but 'force' him to rise up. please give me an example of this - a man that doesn't like equity? I hope you don't mean the man who wants to be responsible for finances while the wife is managing the home and nurturing children? He should have an opportunity to be financial provider and she should have an opportunity to be full time house-wife if that's what he wants and what she wants. do you think this is not equality? |

wonlasewonimi: The way exceptionally rich people live in Nigeria is the way ordinary low income people live in the US. exactly cost of living in naija is cheap because quality of life is poor. once you want to live a life as good as the average american, you would pay through your nose. Imagine living in a 2 bedroom in lekki with 24 hrs power and kids in meadow hall. Thats a rent of 1.5 million, service charge + power of 1.5 million and school fees per child of 3 million. Thats 6 million naira for only rent and school fees so you need to earn like 10 million at least - which is bank manager salary. Now similar quality of life in the US would only require a USD 40k salary which is above menial jobs but what the average engineer will earn. |

timesup234: well with 250k you can get a nice two bedroom in most states in Nigeria you are not comparing equal standards of living. two bedroom where I stay in Lekki is about 1 million naira. The guy in america does not have have saving because there are bills and taxes which translate to a better quality life. however i agree with you that there are exaggerations about how guys doing menial jobs in the US are better than Bank Managers here. I am usually like nor be the US wey I dey visit and the naija boiz wey I dey meet for there? Also, I agree that doing a currency conversion does not explain taxes and other expenses. |
Culture › Re: We Should All Be Feminist by monex(m): 9:46am On Oct 29, 2017 |
Sapiosexuality: How can chauvinism be feminism? Their can be either male or female chauvinism. The world we live in today has all the footprints of male chauvinism. Why should a man with Down Syndrome be considered the head of the family where his wife's thyroxine excited her IQ to over 160? That's what chauvinism is. An idiot decides what happens in the home simply because he is a man. well marriage is a different ball game as we mostly take our definitions of marriage from religion. In most religions, head of the home does not necessarily mean smartest or that the head does not listen or take advice of others. it simply means responsibility. The leader is not necessarily the smartest. the CEO is not necessarily the smartest in the company. Equality in dignity and equality in opportunities is what I stand for. I still do not call myself a feminist. I believe the genders are not the same. the genders are unique each with its own natural obligations. however I believe in outliers hence everyone should be afforded the opportunity to be what they want to be. If a woman wants to go into a male dominated profession, she should be allowed. ditto for a male. if a woman wants to be the head of the home in her marriage, she should simply find a man who shares her sentiments. ditto for man too. No one should be limited by his or her gender but this does not mean we should ignore the fact that the genders are different physiologically and psychologically. everyone should be allowed to be what he or she wants to be as far as it does not affect another. So if man believes in the concept of primary gender obligations and secondary/helper obligations in marriage, he should find a woman who shares his sentiments. Similarly if a woman believes in equal obligations in marriage, she should simply find a man who shares similar sentiments. the summary is that for marriage, both parties should simply discuss their views on marriage beforehand and agree or stop the relationship. |
