Duplicate role. When other sensible countries with larger economies are reducing spending and consolidating offices, Nigeria is busy expanding. Who is advicing Goddy? |
A real shame. The people who lead do not have a proper perception of what is really happen on ground. I was moved to tears on the account someone gave of families being destroted because of finances to assist in urgent medical conditions, then we read this. Is there anyone here who does not know of someone who has suffered adversly because of ill health and lack of finances or adequate medical amenities? Some I know have even died. yet we read about such gross mis-management? This world, especially nigeria is indeed a very wicked place |
There is really no accountability in our country. No value for money, no proper thought being put into anything that involves public money. The health report on Nigeria makes grime reading yet we are spending money recklessly like this. Jonathan is really missing opportunities to show Nigerians that things have change, and it wont be business as usual. I mean would it have been bad to declare to nigerians that based on the global econominc crisi facing everyone, that the celebrations would be low key. What is so wrong with that? Would this money have not been better spent paying for nemerous Nigerians seeking urgent expensive medical attention? Nigerians are really not thier brothers keeper |
This is disgraceful. meanwhile we have folks on here pleading for financial assistance to save fellow Nigerians lives. Nigeria is simply a wicked country. |
@Cap28, You are very right in you analysis. It is not as easy as people make it to invest in Nigeria. The start up cost can be high, something evern wealthy returnees cannot afford. the Nigerian system is not setup to encourage the honest investor. Most blue chip companies with stringent moral coprorate policies would find Nigeria hostile |
@Sagamite, I accept that certain things are not acceptable in a marriage, but we can not conclude without all the facts. for instance we dont know if 1: Illness is involved 2: Threat to livelihood is invloved 3: Infidelity These are all factors that could change the whole dynamics. we just dont know. I do conceed that there are terrible people out there, but we are not certain these are one of those cases were outright divorce is the answer. Dont forget that people react differently to situations, and we might find that this is just a financial thing. I will encourage the couple to sit and talk. Seperation or divorce should be the last thing |
@Sagamite, calm down. you and I dont have a full information on what is going on, so advising her to leave is rather premature. Anyone who goes into a marriage thinking it is all cosy till death is not real. Marriage has its ups and downs, even those we might sometimes admire their married life, have issue, they just dont share it with you and I. People really do think that marriages are trouble free journeys, well probably that is for those who do not have a full grasp of the meaning |
@toyemz, Well said. This is not a spur of the moment thing. From initial indications there might be deeper problems which we dont know about, or probably she doesnt know and he hasnt shared with her. I have seen marriages restored just by simply talking things through, parties most times seem to mis-understand simply because they have not been listening to each other. I always say marriage no be Gra-gra, but things like this are not uncommon in very successful marriages |
@Poster, sorry to hear you are going through all this, it cannot be easy. Firstly, you will need to sit him down and talk. Find out why he seems unhappy. You never know he might open up and tell you. It sounds to me that he might be having issues at work. Discuss it with him, and make him understand that you will be prepared to help him in anyway you could. I dont understand that loads of people are currently under pressure at work with the present economic climate, that can sometimes give job insecurity, which can be borne out in such acts. So talk to him. Profer solutions such as you taking up a job to assist, so he can feel he has options. Believe me if work was the problem, this is likely to work. Now on the fear of you not conducting yourself properly in public, in most cases this might be the case if there is great difference between both ages and you both dont share same interest, thus one feeling smarter than the other. If that is the case, you might need to show more interest in his likes, and thus have something common to talk about. Just my 2 cents. Hope it makes sense and helps |
This sort of news drains the life out of me with sadness. We need to rediscover our soul in that country. I fight on this forum constantly for good governance, because I know the common man is sure to benefit. Please paste this on Mr Presidents Facebook page. Our agitation for good governance must not stop just because the elections are over. The fight must continue for all of us |
Siasia is very right, and I back him 100%. These footballers need to show respect to the Manager, you dare not step out of camp without informing the manager if you were in say the England team, so why does he think he can do that with the Nigerian team. I doubt he would even do that with West Brom. He needs to learn some manners, what he did was wrong and he must apologise properly , by phoning Siasia and promising never to do that rubbish again |
Heartless gutter snipe. Agbero by birth, cannot change him. I bet it was the high price of his after party arraingement with the girl that upset him |
I dont like the word "Ordered", a more presidential term would be "Review" or "Look into". Oga must understand we are in a democracy |
Guys whilst I do agree with suggestions above, how do you hold non-perfoming governors from the ND to account. What are they doing with the current allocation, is that not as much problem as unfair allocation? |
nice, a good selection of thieves. Carry on PDP |
From observation, it looks like a lot of the replies have been from the younger folk. Some dont seem to appreciate that people do arrive at this juncture sometime in life. If you have been in a profession long enough, there is sometime the tendency for one to feel tired, bored and desire change, and sometimes that change may not be visible. In the west people do take career breaks to go figure out what next. Some move into something entirely different, Bill Gates to name but a few. Our brother / sister here has just arrived at that point some would call it crossroads, where they desperately need to get out and try something new. I agree with ManXtreme plan, if he can afford the luxury of quitting and trying something new, then go for it, but most importantly, dont let fear keep you from doing that which you must |
Well it all depends, I have a good friend who changed from Law to Property development, another who changed from Medicine to Hotel management. The key thing is desire to change, and determination to see the change through. everything is possible, but if you have serious financial dependancies, it make it harder, but it is still possible |
@bylineby, No it is never too late. research suggests that most of us will change careers at least 3 times in our life time. The key thing is that you most be interested in making that change. I would personally advise changing to another profession which will make full use of your current work and experience, probably another arm of Law, but to be honest, I know what you mean. I have been through the same |
@Muami, Yes, I do accept that it is necessary for the Nigerian government to regularly review its foreign policy, and modify it accordingly, but I am also of the opinion that changes must be made for the right reason. Dont forget that we are at a stage where we need foreign investor, and we must send the right signal that we are open for business. Dont forget that as a country keen to operate effectively on the world stage, we will be dealing with countries and people with very strict corporate policies which might not tieing with the way we do things in Nigeria. |
This is taking a very different turn. I have often argued that BAD Government has as much part to play as unfair resource allocation in the Niger Delta crisis. Ibori and his brother have to be blamed for this. If I remember well during the old Bendel state, growing up in Warri, Ughelli and Sapele, things were not like this. Uduaghan has indeed divided the people of Delta state with his wicked policies |
Since the declaration of the governorship election result in Delta, there have been threats of violence by militant groups, EMMANUEL ADDEH writes In the run-up to the elections into the various elective positions in Delta State, South South, Nigeria, there was a mixed bag of predictions as to the peaceful conduct of the elections in the oil-rich state. While many observers, who expressed serious concern about the increasing tension as a fallout of the governorship rerun in the state in January, had raised fears over the security situation, others predicted a fairly orderly poll. The palpable tension in the state could easily be attributed to the inflamed passions that trailed the rerun governorship poll after the quashing of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan’s tenure late last year by the Court of Appeal. In fact, a few weeks before the National Assembly elections, the security in the volatile state had become so unassailable that a first time visitor would mistake the state for a war zone. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201105172134670 |
Dem don chop sotay, they cant pay themselves. Real shame |
ABUJA—THE prospects of outgoing members of the House of Representatives getting their enhanced welfare allocation before the end of their term dimmed, yesterday, following the resolution of Speaker Dimeji Bankole not to borrow on behalf of the members. Bankole’s stringency nonetheless, members of the Dino Melaye-led group have demanded a fresh probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on how entitlements of the House members were allegedly misused. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/05/house-financial-crisis-no-money-to-pay-legislators/ |
I sincerely hope this has been done for the right reasons, lest we confirm negetive views about Nigeria. Journalist critisizes FG, gets detained on his visit from the US Journalist makes comments on facebook about Delta state government, gets locked up by sss, by orders of the governor JC critisizes PDP and the Nigerian governemt, ![]() ?Let this be for the right reasons. I totaly support the need to review our foreign policy, long overdue in my opinion, and I salute GEJ for this |
@Beaf, Is Bankole worse than Uduaghan? The answer to that is No. Yes the young man has let himself down, but then he got purnished at the polls, same cant be said for our Governor, can it? |
Hi Guys, not quite sure what is going on, but I pointed out about 6 months ago, in November that the Delta state website, just like every other thing has been offline. Is this acceptable in this day and age where vital information about a state or place is first obtained from the states website. For me this is another indication of how the governor has been extremely poor in his 4yrs in office. Just shows one the extent of his non performance. Say we are trying to get investors into the state, and they want to do a bit if due diligence on the state, this is the rubbish they get. http://www.deltastate.gov.ng/ |
so what happens during the next election |
