Is an apology really necessary. Our democracy is now threading on dangerous grounds, when PDP feel they can hold everyone hostage. This is bad |
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, and his deputy, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, on Wednesday apologised to the Peoples Democratic Party for violating its directive on zoning formula. Tambuwal, who arrived at the PDP headquarters in Abuja at 2pm in company with Ihedioha, met with the party’s National Working Committee members for more than one hour. The NWC members at the meeting included the National Chairman, Dr. Haliru Mohammed; the National Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje; the National Organising Secretary, Chief Uche Secondus; and the National Legal Adviser, Chief Olusola Oke. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201106092105053 |

Come oh, whats holding up the appointment of new minister and commisioners? it has been over a week now, is this normal? |
funny enough, I am not one those who rejoice @ news like this. efcc's fight against corruption has been an absolute joke. The day Efcc bundle Uduaghan and his band of state robbers to jail, is the day I will throw big party, all invited. |
This is probably not going to happen. IP v6 has been working along side v4 for years, there shouldnt realy be any need for down time, besides that stakes are too high for such an interruption |
Disgraced former speaker coughes up, names all involed. Cant wait for that list to be publised. Meanwhile see comment below from human rights lawyer, should he not be concerned about fair treatment for Bankole? Human Rights lawyer, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, said the EFCC should ensure thorough investigation of the matter including all members of the out-gone Sixth House. His words: “The arrest should not stop with the former Speaker, every member of the National Assembly in the last dispensation should be investigated and those found culpable must be brought to book.” |
ABUJA— EMBATTLED former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Dimeji Bankole, who was arrested, Sunday, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, opened up, yesterday. Hon. Dimeji Bankole and EFCC boos, Mrs. Farida Waziri Vanguard learnt that he has started mentioning names after being grilled for more than 12 hours by the anti-graft agency over alleged financial impropriety in the House of Representatives during his tenure which ended last week. The former speaker was said to have refused to cooperate with the commission for more than twelve hours between Sunday evening and yesterday morning when he was requested to write a statement on what he knew about the allegations against him. But when he was brought out from his cell yesterday morning and he saw that the anti-graft agency meant business, he became sober and started to tell his story. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/bankole-opens-up-in-detention/ |
Una still dey judge this matter? |
Nope it has very little to do with living with each other, but more to do with our inbuilt selfish nature. That is were we get it all wrong. Simple examples, ask Nigerians to come together to choose a leader and we can not have a unifying view of who we want to lead us Ask Nigerians to come together an form or run a company. before you know it, EGO's have come into play, everyone wants to be the owner or leader of the company. I have 3 friends who are good at what they do individually. I sit back and see that if they come together, they will be a force to be reckorned with. But pride would not let them come together for the common good, each of the 3 wants his or her name in lights. Nigerians are simply selfish, greedy, and sometimes downright wicked. They is a saying "Jealously, Hate and Greed is why Nigerians cant succeed" |
why is he not wearing pant alone and hancuffed like the common criminal which he is. If na pesin wey thief re-charge card now dem for don beat am wear am only pant, put piston for im side with ammunitions. Our country na wah |
@Omo_tier1 Good for you. Now why don't you turn that brilliance of yours into a positive force that will improve Nigeria as a country? Soon you will meet up with opposing and competing forces that will challange that very essence of your brilliance. Like as I said, individually the Nigerian might be good, but collectively we are no good. The British might be proud, but there is evidence to suggest why they are. Ftom making you are I learn english language for one to inventing some of the most game changing products of this world, and most importantly, they use that brilliance to benefit thier society |

*Speaker, N100m, Dep Speaker, N80m, each Rep N42m By Jide Ajani, Deputy Editor and Ikechukwu Nnochiri Fresh facts which emerged at the weekend concerning the N10billion loan scandal in the House of Reresentatives that just ended its tenure suggest that the sourcing which resulted in the present situation was the product of an executive session where members insisted on enhancing their allowances. And whereas former Speaker Dimeji Bankole is the one facing the fire, Sunday Vanguard is now in possession of documents which show that the genesis of the hoopla was an executive session of the House of Representatives on Thursday March 25, 2010, where Hon. Aminu Tambuwal briefed the House regarding the “restiveness of members and the possible crisis that may erupt in the House because of the issue of enhanced allowances that members have been clamoring for”. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/06/how-reps-shared-controversial-n10bn/ |
@Poster, you make a very good point my general analysis is Nigerians can be brilliant on thier own, but collectively as a group we are useless Nigerians often hears only the begining of the story and then rushes off to claim full understanding. The Nigerians often lacks humility and is full of unecessary pride. The Nigerian wants to fly before they learn to walk |
The Problem with Ajaokuta, is the same as every other thing in Nigeria. I have challenege people to point to 1 single sector that works in Nigeria, just 1, and you will simply find the answer you seek. We allow the best to be ruled and lead by the worst. The same thing happend to Delta steel company. Waste beyong belief. I remember the start of DSC in the late 702 / 80's. very promising, but was soon run down by mismanagement, greed and corruption. Simple solution, sell the damn things and let the private sector come in and run it. |
If the NLC does not protest this, then they are as useless as the lawmakers. Nigerians should not have to accept this, it is plain wrong |
She had better respond to this before it goes viral. A simple copy of her certificate would suffice, but this is another blow to who we are, you know oyibo pick up on the slightest to rubbish us |
But she needs to react to this quickly, you know how these things can easily get out of hand. But then again, she making the claim must understand the implications of false accusations. But this needs to be looked into fast |
Ngwakwe:Very true, but the suspecion is out there now, and she needs to quell things fast |
If true, we are in deep shiet in that country. So who has authentic credentials? The whole lot must now be scrutinised |

Fantasy say take the job, reality says don't. whether we like it or not, Northern Nigeria remains extremely volatile. and for those of us who are parents, you will not sense danger and send your loved ones forth, so I probably appreciate where your parents are coming from. Ultimately the decision is yours, but consider the stack facts |
I am not convinced that exposing ones slef in this way has anything to do with looking good. Why does looking good have to be associated with exposure of one's jewels? beats me. Most guys would look disrespectfuly at women who dress this way, and that is an honest fact |
iyatrustee:You should probably ask the old lady who commented what century she was from. There is nothing wrong in her exclaiming, especially when a married woman with kids exposes herself to the extent that her pant shows up to the public. The sight was calling for such a comment |
Nice one poster. Well I guess some husbands dont mind, but there should be something said about a married woman dressing in a way that exposes too much. believe me it is very common. I remember going to a friends party, where this married woman with 3 kids turned up wearing a very short dress, all you needed was for small breeze, and fowl nyash for show. Anyway she struggled to sit properly the whole time she was there, even with her best efforts her white pant was still visible, she eventually got a friends coat and put it over her legs. Now what was the point of wearing the dress in the first place, not quite sure she came to this party with her husband. The other day, I saw another pushing a buggy down the street, again dress was too short, cleavage too exposed, practically struggling to stay inside. she bent down to pick something from the buggy basket and was exposed for the entire public to see. Some old lady passing by remarked "did u see that", in my day it was different. One isnt advocating for women not to dress nice, but the style must be toned down, especially when one becomes a wife or serious partner |
Very insightful. Sometimes we should stop and celebrate those amongst us who put out themselves for others. I guess this is another side of the Saraki family we dont see. Well done Toyin |
(CNN) -- Nigerian Toyin Saraki is one of Africa's most prominent voices in the fight against infant mortality. The stalwart campaigner has tirelessly devoted herself to making sure that African women and children are given a fair chance in life. Saraki developed her passion for promoting infant safety after a heartbreaking tragedy some two decades ago. Pregnant with twins, she had to be rushed into hospital just hours before her wedding was due to take place. "I begun to hemorrhage and on the eve of my wedding I found myself in hospital in this situation which was beyond my contemplation," says Saraki. "I never even knew things like that happened to people -- I ended up delivering that night and it was a harrowing experience." http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/05/31/toyin.saraki.nigeria.newborn/index.html |
All this will stop when the Nigerian Government starts valueing its citizens. The Nigerian high commision in Mexico must demand answers. Sadly Nigerians are not valued anywhere in the world because our government does not value us. If this had happend to a US citizen or UK citizen, you would have seen the reaction |
evilspirit:It is relative, besides where did you get that notion that UK doesnt produce oil. what about the NorthSea. Filling the average family car @ £70 per week is pretty hard hitting to the weekly on monthly family income. The problem is that Nigerians are not used to paying for services, and issue that will need to be addressed when Nigerians start getting constant electricity |
