PoliticsRe: Aturu Threatens To Sue Over Fawaz , Others Detention by moodswing(m): 11:01am On Jun 04, 2013
Everyone is equal in the eyes of the law. And according to the law, you are never guilty until proven by a court of competent jurisdiction.

And by the law, you can only detain someone for 24hrs before charging the person to court.

Look at the case of Adewale and Adebolajo in woolwich killing. They were charged immediately they got discharged from the hospital.

The first court session is usually for plea taking, then the court adjourns to a later date to allow the prosecutor prepare their case and also the afford the defense the time to prepare their defense .

This rule is very important in safeguarding the rights of an accused person.

If we clamour for rule of law over illegality and jungle justice in this country, then the lawyer should be allowed (without sentiment) to defend his client within the confines of the law.

Irrespective of the crime they have committed, they are still presumed innocent, and an innocent man has got rights.

No matter the crime anyone committed or being accused of, the accused person still has a right to legal representation and fair hearing, if you can't afford a lawyer, the state is obliged to provide one for you.

THE RULE OF LAW. .... Aturu is only doing his job. Crucify him not.

Eko Ile: In the state of California, they have something called Transportation Corridor Agencies. The raise bonds to finance highways which the taxpayers end up paying for via tolls. It doesn't matter if they collect the money up front from the taxpayers in form of tax, bonds or other funding methods. Bottomline, the taxpayers still have to pay regardless.

Let me tell you something, many cities in America are privatizing their utilities like water and highways. They'll sell off their public utilities to private comps and the private comps shifts the bill to the taxpayers for like about 100 years with zero kobo going back to the community to fund any projects, that public infrastructure is gone for 100 years.

What is going on in Lagos is a win win situation for the people of Lagos, the bridge still belongs to the people of Lagos state and money generated from this bridge is still going to benefit the people of Lagos state through other projects funded with money generated from this bridge...

The only losers here which (I really don't think they are) are the folks in Lekki/VI/Ikoyi because they are robbing them to fund other projects far far away from this bridge.
Thanks for analyzing the robbery better, What you are saying is that Lagos State government is the new institutional RobinHood. Rob the rich with a post-dated promise to give to the poor.

Very Nice...... Fashola has finally graduated, setting up shops on bridges and just everywhere rich people drive past. When Tinubu and his croonies finally seizes power in their dreams, i expect them to toll Airport road in Abuja.

oshea44: Some people are just idiot, they have never travelled outside the country Nigeria before and see how the Western World Govt tax the hell out of you, I am in Canada, the govt tax 13% out of everything you buy, 13% from your Wages, $500 for car insurance every month, which tax una dey pay for 9ja, Yet una go dey complain.. Mind you, the bridge cost alot of money and how do u pay taxes? let me ask you a question, paying toll money is it not better than bad road or nothing? Please sometimes let think before we talk, cos its extremely annoying...if my second home Nigeria go bill 30% of tax from my money, i go pay....
WOW you almost got me fooled and confused there bro. This forum is for Nigerians no matter where they reside and not an ass wipe like you who referred to himself as a second-handed Nigerian.

ba7man: Its better to pay a token toll(Bottled coke and Gala money) to use a bridge that's convenient than not pay a toll and get stuck on River Niger bridge....I mean, so you can't pay N250 to avoid the traffic on Niger Bridge??. At least the people paying aint complaining cuz they aint broke and if you can't afford it, there's a cheaper route and a free route. If you aint careful, they'll charge you to look at the bridge....looks good, don't it? You seem bitter about the bridge, are you truely that concerned?? Enter Politics naa if you are.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Sues Jang Faction Of NGF by moodswing(m): 11:24pm On Jun 02, 2013
Never knew Fashola has finally joined the "errant" boys.

I like Tinubu, he will never insult nor openly criticize the president, the duty is delegated to his stupiid deputies. He can only attack PDP as a party. Then instigate Fashola and other of his boys to keep talking rubbish and causing confusion.

Before the election, he will be the only one to negotiate and collect the settlement money. Lie Mohammed, Fashola and others would have only made their master rich. And GEJ gets to keep the throne.

This whole politic eish is like a game of chess and a broadway movie.

All Nairalanders should stand up to observe a minute silence for the man who saw and knows tomorrow...

The man who can predict (in reverse order) the things to come in PDP...

The man who understands the inner workings of the PDP better than the Central Working Committee...

The man who enjoys/competes with Fashakin and Lai Mohammed in drinking Alabukun for other people's headache...

The man who knows the next set of medications Tinubu will be placed on by his doctors in 2014...

The only righteous man on NL.

Please give it up for Gbaweeeeee.

To usher him to the podium to receive this 2013 Award of Shame are Eko Atlantic, Eko Ile, Ilogunboy, Fashakin and Lie Mohammed!!!

PoliticsRe: Anenih Seeks Automatic Ticket For Jonathan & Others by moodswing(m): 6:27pm On Jun 01, 2013
Pukkah: Anenih, the Mr Fix-It of those days, is obviously at his wits end. The poor man is now old and understandly tired and his once robust bag of tricks is now empty.

Having been dusted in Edo state by the dimunitive but ruthless Oshiomhole, the man is too exhausted to fight this Amaechi/2015 tussle. Himself and the other aged PDP Chairman, Bamanga Tukur, have been throwing feeble and predictive blows at Amaechi, all of which the younger and more alert man has been ducking.

Unsure of the direction the 2015 PDP primaries could go, especially from the way the Governors' Forum election went, they've come up with another shift in the goal post - look for a way to dodge party primaries for Jonathan.

Honestly, these are not the best of times for the Jonathan 2015 camp.

Tukur is expired. Anenih is tired. Akpabio is not meticulous. Jang is expired. Dickson is a lapdog. The President himself is a poor politician. Amaechi has become an eel. OBJ has jumped ship. Dokubo and Clarke and Kuku are exasperating alarmists. Mimiko is unserious and a mere opportunist.

Fredrick Faseun is deluded. Peter Obi is lazy. Theo Orji is unthinking. Okupe is bumbling. Abati is confused. Most of the ministers aren't seasoned politicians. Sullivan Chime is sick and apathetic.

Saraki is cold. Atiku is mute. The VP is a rookie and a lighweight. The Senate President is his own man and has an agenda. Same for the Speaker of House of Reps. PDP is at its weakest point since 1999. The opposition is at its strongest point.

Who are the other visible names? No wonder they're looking for a shortcut. We understand, Mr Anenih, we understand.
Why are you concerned on how PDP choose it's candidate?. Adoption of candidates and compromise is part of how political parties operate. Tinubu imposed Fashola on Lagos AC and they supported him.

If you don't like GEJ simply don't vote for him if PDP eventually adopt him.

this your useless ranting won'd do you any good but cause you premature HBP.

Go and select te candidate of your party through the democratic process you clamor for and let PDP select it's candidate, vote your candidate while we vote President Goodluck Jonathan... Shikenah.
PoliticsRe: Anenih Seeks Automatic Ticket For Jonathan & Others by moodswing(m): 6:11pm On Jun 01, 2013
Gbawe: This is why these supporters of GEJ, immature kids in reality, stalk me with their empty insults and vitriol. There is virtually not a single thing we are seeing now that I have not boldly predicted before to the consternation of these sentimental children who have a severe and laughable disconnection with morality and uprightness.

Being that way means they are likely to embrace the shallow approach of insulting others vacuously, while continuing to back GEJ blindly, rather than ever acknowledge what the man does wrong that even a 5 year old, if ethical and fair-minded, can predict will draw negative repercussion in future. It is not Rocket Science. Merely that some people are too sentimental, too clannish and too bigoted to see it.
Can you explain your rants in English?

TechyGuy: I have SOME QUESTIONS:

1. Why is ACN solidly behind Amaechi?
2. Why is ACN more interested in what PDP do to Amaechi?
3. Do ACN folks now care about PDP and their decisions regarding their members?
4. Why has Amaechi not defected to ACN/CPC?
5. How did Amaechi suddenly become a 'progressive'? Do PDP now have 'progressives'?
Na you get sense pass.

Don't mind these buffoons who thinks thy can play the sympathy card with the conscience of Nigerians.

If Amechi has violated any law governing the conduct of members as it relates to his party's constitution. The party reserves the right to take appropriate actions against him. It has nothing to do with the people of Rivers state not Nigerians in a whole.

The NGF election is a matter for the governors. Every nairalander is taking sides and judging based on malicious details of account spread by the parties involved.

If the governors want's Nigerians to vote on who become their chairman, then. We would consider and probably oblige. If not, they better keep the matter to themselves or better still, dissolve the forum and save us the pain of having to read through these series of drama.

PoliticsRe: Fashola Dares PDP To Investigate His Administration by moodswing(m): 3:17pm On May 31, 2013
Fashola is a BIG fraud.

Builds infrastructures with tax payers money and still charges them to use it.

The whole PPP reason is just a cover up.

From spending billions to plant flowers that are of no visible economic value to lagosians and awarding dubious contracts using his cronies as fronts, Fashola lost legitimacy since the day he took oath of office.

Lagos state is generating more revenue than it did in previous administrations yet the government cant execute a single infrastructural project without taking world bank loan or inviting his criminal gangs as fronts under the guise of PPP.

Prison awaits you.

Tinubu did not do that for the sake of democracy. Nadeco was a political investment to him.

By the way where was Obama during the American civil war?. Why didn't the Americans allow families of the war heroes to inherit the birthright of being presidents.

Make we hear abeg.

Pukkah: Slave and master relationship?

Now tell me, mention the names of those who fought the military governments of IBB and Abacha to have the democracy of today.

Even Tinubu, whom you guys deride and abuse today, funded the pro-democracy activists more than anyone else. He was also in the trenches.

Where was Jonathan then? Where was Clarke? Where was Odili?

Do you know the meaning of 'Abacha politicians'?

We still remember those folks who were begging abacha to continue in office.

Who's is the master and who's the slave?

PoliticsRe: Jesse Jackson Commends Jonathan’s Transparency by moodswing(m): 11:40am On May 30, 2013
The UK economy was surpassed by Brazil, a supposedly third world country.

A soldier was butchered in broad day light and it took the British police 30 minutes to respond.

There was massive job and budgetary spending cuts in key british ministries and the military.

Yet they never stopped believing in the Essence of their "Englishness".

In Nigeria uninformed and semi-ignorant people are quick to side with opinions that speak ill of the government without taking into cognizance, the social and economic strive the government has achieved against all unfavorable odds.

To gain the support and attention of certain calibre of low lifers, speak negative of the government.

This our mentality of "government is evil" will never open our eyes to judge the government based on it's deeds but rather it's misdeeds. No matter who occupies the office of the president, certain m0rons are just too comfortable playing the pawn for the misguided opposition.

In my informed opinion, there has never been any responsive and responsible president like Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. President Musa Yar'adua of blesssed memory may have made the greatest president of all time. But He left us in a more trusted hand.

I hereby urge you all to sensibly criticize only when the government has truly erred in delivering the dividends of democracy than towing the path of deranged people like Femi Fani Kayode, Nasir and other not-well-meaning-Nigerians. Whose sole goal is to bring our dear countries down for selfish ends.

Long live Nigeria and Long live the President of the Republic.
