Skin color does give an indication of possible admixture or ancestry taking other factors into consideration.

The assertion is not that light skin only comes as a result of admixture but that there is a correlation for light skin in African Americans and the probability of admixture genes from Europeans.

What this states is that their was another hominid species Homo erectus or upright man were the first wave of archaic humans to populate the globe, some of them evolved into Homo Neaderthalensis and the others in Denisovans as opposed to Homo sapien- wise/intelligent man who evolved in Africa.

Homo sapien spread across the continents displacing the other homo species and absorbing some of their DNA in the process through interbreeding but the other species eventually are wiped out during this exodus and live only in the gene sequencing of non African peoples.
