nairavsdollars: Igbos Have Themselves To Blame For Voting Atiku - APC
The ruling APC said it does not deserve any blame for not zoning the position of Senate President or Deputy Senate President to the South-East.
Rather it said the South-East should blame itself for queuing behind Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP in the just concluded general elections.
The party was reacting to the outburst of Orji Uzor Kalu, who said that unless the APC makes him the Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate, he will fight to become the Senate President.
Yekini Nabena, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, in a chat with Daily Independent said while nobody is stopping Kalu from contesting for the position of Senate President, the reality is that he cannot win since the zoning arrangement didn’t favour him.
According to him, rather than getting angry with APC leadership, Kalu should blame his people in the South-East for putting all their eggs in one basket by rejecting President Muhammadu Buhari and casting over 90 percent of their votes for Atiku.
“That shouldn’t be a problem. He can contest for the position of Senate President. But the issue is, can he win? Nobody is stopping him from contesting. Igbo people always play themselves out. So, Kalu cannot blame APC.
“He should blame his own people from the South-East. He should blame them because they don’t know how to play politics. They play politics like a one-way thing. They all voted for Atiku in the presidential election. So, now that Atiku lost, who will help people like Orji Kalu? 99.9 percent of them followed Atiku.
“So, what is Kalu crying for? He should go back to his people and educate them on how politics is played especially at the national level. They should play 50-50. If this one didn’t work, the other can work.
“So, Orji Uzor Kalu must go back to his people and educate them because he himself is not worthy to be Senate President or Deputy Senate President. So, if he wants to contest, he can do so. Nobody is stopping him. But I know that he cannot win”, he said. https://www.independent.ng/lawans-senate-presidency-forgone-conclusion-apc/ Just listen how somebody or APC is talking like a day old baby, the kind of people I share the same country with, must everybody vote the same candidate? you ridicule yourself, they put all their egg in one basket, later 90%, so where's 10%? |
Politics › Re: Islamic Group Attacks Buhari Govt Over Position On Hijab by MrGerald(m): 10:03am On Mar 27, 2019 |
phranklean: The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has faulted the President Muhammadu Buhari government’s position on the hijab saga.
The Government was quoted last week as saying that it would not interfere in the hijab imbroglio which has embroiled the South West.
In a press statement issued to DAILY POST on Tuesday by MURIC and signed by Professor Ishaq Akintola, its Director, the group said, “The Federal Government cannot afford to close its eyes to this serious human rights abuse within its domain.
The whole country is FG’s constituency. Isn’t FG concerned that the girl child is being chased out of school on account of her religion?
“Schoolgirls in hijab were locked out of the school gates in the University of Ibadan International School (UIS) and Federal University of Technology Staff School, Ogbomosho. The same has happened in Abeokuta and Lagos. Apart from this, the courts in the South West are saturated with hijab cases.
“The court cases underline the need for FG to direct the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation to invite all the commissioners for Justice in the affected states to discuss the issue. There are serious implications involved in this hijab imbroglio. It is more than just a simple denial of a head cover. Those who deprive female Muslim children of the right to use hijab are engaging in child abuse, stigmatization and profiling. By treating the Muslim girl-child with contempt and derision, they expose her to ridicule, assault the dignity of her human person and rob her of her self-confidence.
“In addition, they promote child depression and education-fatigue in the girl-child because their hostile and illegal action is capable of discouraging the Muslim girl-child from attending school. This is paradoxical because various state governments have criminalized failure to attend school by any child of school age. Failure to indicate interest in the hijab affair in the South West will defeat FG’s campaign for girl-child education.
“It is equally important to add that FG’s lack of interest is already breeding impunity in illegality as other federal agencies have made it their cardinal duty to persecute Muslim women who wear hijab. The excesses manifest in the immigration department where Muslim women in hijab are forced to remove it before ‘capturing’ takes place for processing international passports.
The same is currently happening in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) where women in hijab are subjected to this humiliating demand before ‘capturing’ for driving licences. The involvement of federal agencies in the victimization of Muslim women makes it more imperative for FG to show interest. It proves that the problem is not limited to the South West. It has a national spread.
“It requires strategic thinking. FG must rise to the occasion before it is too late. The Muslims are complaining now without being violent. We are still fortunate that MURIC, which is spearheading the matter is a non-violent human rights group which employs civilized methods to make its demands. We must not wait until extremist elements hijack the struggle. We remind FG that justice is the soul of peace. Those who deny one cannot enjoy the other.
“We, therefore, advise FG to issue a circular criminalizing the harassment of women in hijab in any government office in Nigeria. Furthermore, FG must educate these government functionaries on the illegality of disallowing hijab-wearing women from performing their civic responsibilities. Government must also go further by ensuring that any civil servant who is caught doing so after the enlightenment is duly punished.
The Nigerian constitution is rich in guidelines but compliance, implementation and enforcement are the problems. Refusal to allow a woman in hijab to perform a civic duty is a breach of Section 42 of the1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which stipulates that:
(1) A citizen of Nigeria of a particular community, ethnic group, place of origin, sex, RELIGION or political opinion shall not, by reason only that he is such a person:-
(a) be subjected either expressly by, or in the practical application of, any law in force in Nigeria or any executive or administrative action of the government (or its agencies-addition ours), to disabilities or RESTRICTIONS to which citizens of Nigeria, of other communities, ethnic groups, places of origin, sex, religion or political opinions are not made subject.
Source: http://dailypost.ng/2019/03/26/islamic-group-attacks-buhari-govt-position-hijab/amp/?__twitter_impression=true I think the best is they should stay at home or at best enroll in Muslim schools, there many dress codes that also restricting other students of other religion from dressing the way they would like to dress, not just hijab. |

Meanwhile, while Ndiigbo are being harrassed in Lagos and other places outside Igboland, they better come home and take advantage of the new openings in the east. Who is harassing them? Nigerians don't have the gut to intimidate the Igbos, they're only scared to compete with them knowing very well they can't win them. |

A man participated in an exercise which he and his team feel wasn't conducted professionally based on the evidence at their disposal, and have decided to seek redress, but some of you are mocking him. For what exactly? Some are even urging him to 'accept' defeat. What if he wasn't 'defeated'? Or you think you know more about the election than Atiku does?
No wonder a typical Nigerian does not believe in going to court to seek redress, it's either jungle justice or the hackneyed 'take it to God in prayers'. If pdp really won the election or there were irregularities, with Peter Obi in the team, he'll never give up, he's ready to go to court 100x, let justice rule. |

Car Talk › Re: Cars On Nigerian Roads Hit 11.8 Million In One Year by MrGerald(m): 9:06am On Mar 12, 2019 |
Mrakeli: The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its latest figures indicated that there were about 11.8 million licensed cars on Nigeria’s roads as at Q4 2018, compared to 11.6 million in the corresponding period of 2017.
According to the report, Nigeria witnessed a 2 per cent increase in the number of licensed cars Year- on -Year; that is between Q4 of 2018 and Q4 2017, respectively.
The NBS report disclosed that as at Q4 2018, commercial cars recorded the highest numbers of licensed cars on Nigeria’s roads, having made up 41% of the total cars.
Diplomatic cars recorded the least number of licensed cars, constituting of just 0.05% of the total licensed cars in Nigeria.
“With an estimated population of 198 million, Nigeria’s vehicle per population ratio is 0.06. Similarly, the Bureau’s report shows that 630,868 drivers’ licenses were produced in 2018”, the report said.
A total of 185,883 national drivers licenses were produced in Q4 2018
The number of recorded fresh licenses was 75,446, while the number of renewed licenses and reissued licenses stood at 14,802
Number plate production was put at 135,505 in Q4 2018.
Lagos and FCT produced the highest number of drivers’ licenses in Q4 2018
Zamfara and Kebbi States produced the least numbers of national drivers’ license in Q4 2018.
The report disclosed that with an increase in one car for every six people in Nigeria, the number of cars may have increased as at the fourth quarter of 2018; the reported increase in Nigeria’s population suggests the 2% increase is not a big deal. With Nigeria’s population pegged at 198 million, the figure implies that the country has only one car per six Nigerians.
Lagos State, according to the report leads states with highest number of driver’s license produced. In Q 2018, 42,402 licenses were produced, representing 22.8% of the total licenses produced.
Also, Abuja (FCT) and Oyo ranked second and third respectively with the highest number of driver’s license produced. FCT recorded 20,573 (11.1%) wile Oyo recorded 11.757 licenses representing 6.3% of the total licenses produced with the period under review.
However, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Yobe recorded the lowest number of licenses issued, with Zamfara (367), Kebbi (371) and Yobe (475).
“The number of people involved in road accident in 2018 increased by 19% in Q4 of 2018. According to the report, in Q4 2018, the number of people involved in road accident increased to 18,729, as against 15,696 people in Q4 2017. This represents a 19% increase in the number of road accidents Victims in Nigeria”, it said.
The report further showed that out of 3,495 vehicles involved in road accidents in Q4 2018, cars recorded the highest number with 1,312.
This is followed only by Minibus recording 821. Motorcycle recorded 747, while trucks involved in road accident were 460. The number of Tankers was 85 while Trailer recorded 182.
According to Bernstein’s Report, the total number of cars on the road around the world and kilometres flown in planes will nearly double by 2040. Cars are projected to reach the two billion mark by 2040, while air travel kilometres are set to hit 20 trillion in the same period.
“One of the economic impacts an increase in the number of cars has on the Nigerian economy is that more jobs will be created for automakers and car dealers. Although the Nigerian-based auto industry jobs have declined for several decades now, thousands of Nigerians still make a living designing, building and selling cars
“Beyond the initial purchase, every car continues to cost its owner money, hence, leading to a broader economic impact. For instance, cars require fuel, which itself constitutes a major expense. Regular maintenance and repair following an accident, along with car insurance, are all additional costs to car owners. It is also an opportunities for secondary businesses to thrive”, it said.
https://www.akelicious.net/2019/03/cars-on-nigerian-roads-hit-118-million.html We don't need all these statistics, but in real sense, considering our population, the ratio of one car per six persons is sign of poverty in the country. |

And the message is that He is with him, because otherwise it would have been fatal.
The recent instance of the owner of Leicester football club comes to mind, for it's hard for someone to survive such crashes as has many others have shown.
So it's certainly a miracle to me, as that of Jesus saving the lives of His disciples In the midst of the sea.
p.s.
Just pause and think about it for a second, the otherwise ramifications it would have had on the outcome of the coming elections if he hadn't survived the crash?
I already gave the instance of LCFC owner, which showed that such crashes are no respecter of persons.
From the recovery of the president from an illness that many thought and some prophesied (including some well known church leaders) would kill him, to being even stronger that he was beforehand, that everyone else is saying it had to be God, to his VP's survival of such an helicopter crash?
It only confirmed one thing, that God is at least with the first two citizens of the nation.
So that for me is the election done and dusted.
Game over even before the game started.
Just awarding of trophy awaited. Don't you think it shouldn't happen in the first place if not a warning? |
