I dont know about 18 months. I am only certain of 6months and below. And I once saw on the website of the Nigeria high commission in Ottawa advising Nigerians to start the renewal of their passport if it has 1 year to expire. But the bottom line is once you renew , the old passport will become invalid when the new one is out. And it's a criminal offence to have 2 valid Nigeria passports at the same time.

You can renew your Nigeria passport if it has 6 months to its expiry.

Please, for someone whose passport will expire in Jan 2023 and awaiting PPR, is it advisable to send the scanned renewed passport through webform and emails or wait for PPR and send both the expired and the renewed passport, so that they will stamp the renewed passport?

Yes, send a scanned copy of the new passport to IRCC via webform. If your visa application is approved , you will need to take both passports (old and new) with you to vfs global. Vfs global will decide if to send only the new one or both the old and new for the visa.
If it was a U.S visa application you would need to present both passports , but will get the visa in the new passport.

After filling the form , save it, then you will have to login to your IRCC account and upload the completed imm5257 where it was requested.

I just login and checked my documents submitted right now.
Everything has been submitted until I reached “optional documents”
It’s asking for (Application for a Temporary Resident Visa made outside Canada IMM 5257)
Deadline to be submitted October 8.

Even tho form for Application of study permit made outside canada has been submitted and acknowledged.

I asked Agent about this & she said it isn’t necessary as it’s the same details as Imm1294.

Please what do y’all think about this? Is she right?

If you are applying with a passport from a country that doesn't require a visa to visit Canada then IMM5257 is optional. But since you are from Nigeria , you need to fill that form. To make it clearer to you;
IMM1294 : is for your study permit application.
IMM5257: is for the visa you will use to travel to Canada, if your study permit is approved.

If you fail to fill and submit the IMM5257 before the deadline , then your study permit application will most likely be rejected.

Please I have a flight schedule for next week. The flight details is: Delta Airlines, from Lagos to Canada. There will be a stop at Atlanta, USA.

My question is: I only have a Canada study visa. I am not a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident. Will I have issues stopping in the US as I am aware of the transit visa requirements. The flight was booked for me from the US. I have argued with my relative that booked this flight that I believe I will need a transit visa to stop in the US and she had to call Delta Airlines in the US and an immigration officer in Atlanta Airport to find out, and they assured her that I won't have any issues. But I can't deny I am still a little skeptical about this. Please, has anyone fly to Canada through the US without a transit visa?

Please can anyone give out advice on using emergency appointment for a conference ? A friend of mine paid 600 dollars for a conference in the US and it’s in mid October. He’s been looking for an appointment for months now but didn’t find…..
Also I think his place of work (state government) may be sponsoring him. Is it wise to use an emergency appointment… does he fall under emergency appointment category and do you think it may affect his chances of getting the visa ?
Any advice please.

He may qualify for emergency appointment if he is a presenter or distinguished speaker at the conference. But if he isn't playing any major role at the conference I really dont think the emergency appointment will be approved. He can still try though because you never can tell , he might just be lucky

I don't think the bolded is not true, we don't pay to fill application form but appointment booking requires your MVR fee payment receipt to gain access as your visa fee since I don't need to book another appointment it will not require another visa fee. Someone suggested here I should fill a new application and update my appointment site with new ds160 and my new passport. which I think is a way forward.
I will still go with my expired passport because I have visas on it to show travel history. I might not need to change the expired passport details but my ds160 should reflect my current travel plan which I do not need to pay to fill a new one. Hope I'm in order,

Well it sounds like the way forward since your case is different from that of my colleague. Maybe you should do as the other person suggested. But my advice to you is to go with the old passport together with the new one.

I was supposed to attend a conference this year in US and I field my DS160 visa application based on that, but unfortunately I couldn't get appointment date this year but next year January. Since the conference is annual I decide to use the date for next year conference.
Now my question is , even if I should go with both passport, is it necessary I update ds160 detail for the purpose of next year travel and my renewed passport ?

Once you have submitted the Ds160 form . You can't make any amendment to the form. You can send an email to the embassy or consulate to update them on your new passport. But on the day of the appointment you will need to go with the old passport you used when submitting your Ds160 together with the new passport. If the visa is approved the embassy will attach it to the new passport. Your other option is to fill a new Ds160, which means paying for a new application .
Similar case happened to my colleague he applied for a new b1/b2 visa via interview waiver with a Nigerian passport that had 4months to expire . 2 weeks after submitting the Ds160 he applied for a new passport. While submitting his documents via DHL as required by the consulate, he submitted both passports since the old passport contained his expired b1/b2 visa and other valid Visas and stamps showing travelling history. His visa was approved but the new Visa was attached to the new passport.
So the bottom line is if you included any information regarding the old passport you will need to bring it along with you and even if you misplaced it you will need to get a police report that you misplaced the passport .

You need to go with both passports. i.e the expired one and the new one. You don't need to make any changes .

I am asking you this in other to know if some of the equipment you work on can be used by an aircraft or can be found in an airport facility, hence you can structure your letter of explanation in such a way that you will be able to convince the visa officer why you want to study aircraft maintenance.

When filling the Ds160 form , you answered the question about your employment and how much you earn. From that question the VO can determine if you are able to sponsor yourself on your trip . Although most times they don't ask for your bank statement, but it is advisable to go with it incase the VO request for it .

Apart from having money in your account. You need to prove to IRCC how you came about the money in that account and since you say you are operating a business you also need to show your tax records.

If she is a US citizen she was supposed to have filed F1 petition. F2A petition is for Green card holders ( permanent residents) . Maybe when she filed the petition she was still a permanent resident.

Are you a presenter at the conference ? If not I doubt if they will ever consider you for emergency interview.

If you need a Visa to travel to Canada , you don't need ETA. ETA is needed by travellers with passport from visa waiving countries to Canada.

As a strength athlete and pro bodybuilder I think your problem might be as a result of the kind of supplements you take or sometimes it could be as a result of the kind of food you take at a particular time. Also cardio causes the heart to beat fast.
Some supplements that might cause this are; Caffeine, taurine ( also found in energy drinks) , Some pre-workout supplements .
If your goal is to build muscle then do more of weight training and minimize cardio. Try to get omega 3 supplements or eat oily fish( Salmon or Sardine) this will help in improving heart health.
Once again remember to watch out for Caffeine , Taurine or energy drinks (red bull, monster) as a whole , because they contain both caffeine and Taurine and makes your heart beat fast after consuming it.

No they are sponsoring the trip. Though o sent them an invitation letter and my bank statement, proof of employment because I'm a Registered Nurse here in California. No she is on a Student visa (studying nursing), her husband is on dependent visa and working. They are planning on coming in December 2022 when she is on break. She graduates next year September. Her interview is in UK this week Wednesday. Any advice will be appreciated.

Since they are self sponsored then your statement of account isn't necessary.
It would have been better if they were permanent resident of the UK and also have a fixed job over there. This would have at least stood as a strong tie to the UK and might help in convincing the VO that they would leave the USA after their visit.
Secondly , I dont know if she has a good travel history which might be a plus for her. The truth is that most of the odds are against her and I list them below;
*She is a temporary resident of the UK.
*She doesnt have strong ties to the UK (would have been better is she applied from her country of Citizenship or permanent residence)
*No Fixed job , so how can she convince the visa officer that she has adequate funds to finance the trip. She might have an account with enough money inside but the USA embassy most times doesn't request for bank statement during interview of visitors.
*Nigeria is a country where a high number of her citizens visiting the US tends to overstay .
* Most times the interview is usually short and you are not given an opportunity to better explain yourself to the visa officer, most of the info they need in other to make a decision is what you provided when completing the Ds160 form .
I wish her and her Family the best of luck in her interview tomorrow.
