I just got admitted to study at centennial college but I was asked to make a deposit payment of $2,650 to hold a seat and receive acceptance letter. I want to know if after the payment and I received my acceptance letter I'll be able to pend the remaining tuition fee until I get to Canada or I'll be required to complete some of the tuition fee before leaving Nigeria
You will have to pay your first semester tuition before the deadline given to you by the college. The first semester tuition is about half of the full tuition for 1 year.

Start by September.
.
What you need to do is get an updated Letter of acceptance from your school showing that you would be starting by September 2023. After getting the updated letter of acceptance all you have to do is inform IRCC by sending them your updated letter of acceptance via webform. When you later travel for September resumption , you won't have any problem at the port of entry as long as it's the same program and same school (DLI) as that in the first letter of acceptance.

Good day,
Thank you for your correspondence.
IRCC has seen an unprecedented volume of applications received for both initial study permits and extensions in 2022, not just from citizens of one country or region but on a global scale. We are making every effort to reduce wait times in our services globally.
We also highly encourage clients to check IRCC's
Processing Times to let them know how long it took us to process most complete applications in the past. It starts the day we receive your complete application and ends when we make a decision. It may vary depending on the number of applications we receive and how complex they are to process. It is important to understand that processing times are estimates and may vary.
We know that some applicants have experienced significant wait times with the processing of their applications, and we understand your frustration. We are working hard to process applications on time and reduce processing times. We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
Putting people first is at the core of how IRCC serves clients. We are committed to delivering seamless, quality services that works for everyone.

Please does this mail mean anything. Got it yesterday from Ircc….
You got this response from IRCC, because you most likely sent an email or a message via webform to them asking about an ongoing application you'd submitted. According to their reply to you , they need you to be patient with them because they have a lot of application that they are currently working on (yours inclusive) and that means longer processing time.
Lastly you can see from the mail you got that your application is most likely being processed at the IRCC office in Kenya. So next time you want to send them an email, you know what office to send your email to.

Thank you Boss. Please incase of Visa denial, is the 1500 CAD conestoga college Tuition deposit fee refundable?
.
In case of visa denial you will be refunded $1300. As Long as you request for a refund before the start of your program. Request for refund will be done via your account with Conestoga student portal and note that you will also need to upload a copy of the visa rejection letter.

Guys, please I need your input...

I applied for a course at Cambrian for May 23 when it was showing Waitlisted. I thought I could be lucky but they replied with Program full after 2 weeks.

Now, I applied for the same course for Sept 23. It has been more than a month but I've not got a reply.

Should I still be patient, or do a fresh application, or apply to another college?
Apply to other colleges if you have the funds. Conestoga college is usually fast in giving students admission.

Good day guys,

Please I plan on traveling a month after my school resumption due to visa delays.

My problem now is that I just paid only tuition deposit of 1500CAD and the school is resuming on the 9th of January. Even if I try to pay the balance using form A it will take about a month or so to get to the school.

N.B: deferral is only possible after full payment of first semester fees.

The issue now is that registration of courses ends on 17th of January while withdrawal date is on the 20th of January. I don’t know if they will withdraw the admission by that 20th of January. meanwhile, I plan on traveling by 4th of February.

I don’t know what to do and also if they check the validity of LOA at the point of entry.

Please advice guys…I have an enrollment letter tho..
You need to contact your school to find out if you would be allowed to resume classes by February. If yes, then there shouldn't be a problem when you arrive Canada by February.

Your proposed length of stay in Canada is inconsistent with a temporary stay given the

What's does it mean , What's do I have to do to get it right in my before reapplying. Pleaseeeee.
For you to get an answer to your question here on this platform, you need to give us more details concerning your application such as;
I. How long is the program of study going to last for?
II. is it a diploma, certificate or degree program and what is your highest level of education?
III. If you already have a degree or diploma , then what did you major in ? And how long have you been out of school?
IV. What program did you plan on studying?
V. Are you currently working?
VI. If working is your job related to the program you plan on studying?
Lastly you need to apply for your gcms notes to really find out what the visa officer handling your case was concerned about.
I hope this helps.

I’ve sent emails to the school before the break without responds. By the time school resumes on 5th, the deadline must have passed.
If I don’t differ and the Study permit comes out late, say 1st week of February, will I not be allowed to catch up, does it really require that I should reapply? Remember, PhD is a research based with about just three courses the entire years which can be registered subsequent terms. Pls am just asking, I need to know more from people’s experience and opinions.
Thanks
.
If you have gotten admission and accepted your admission. The school must have created a student account for you which you can login to . From the few schools I know if you want to defer your admission; you will have to log into your student account to do this.

Hi Bullstriker,
Thank you so much for your kind response on my previous post.
Honestly it’s always a difficult thing when it comes to making some decisions.
Pls I will like to explore few ideas and consequential effects of “NOT DEFERRING” my admission within the deadline required to defer. What could be the risk or possibly challenges?
Pls Remember, I have a funding offer which started that “funding may no longer be possible if I could not resume all aspects of my admission by the admission start date” however, “if I could not resume due to COVID or other travel restrictions, funding will be limited to tuition and other fees”
Thank you again for your kindness and expected response.
The best answer to your question would be the one that came for your institution. What I know is that you would need to submit a new application on a program if you fail to defer that program within the time allowed for program deferment.

Good morning All. Pls what is the full meaning of BVL?
What does it signify in one's application?
.

It simply means Biometric Validation Letter. It's a letter to inform you that your biometrics ( fingerprint) is valid and if you read the letter you will find how long your fingerprint will be valid for ( usually 10yrs after it is done). In most cases when IRCC sends you this letter , they also send you a decision regarding your Visa application. Sometimes they send the decision not long after sending the BVL and sometimes it might take them some time before sending you a decision regarding your application.

Olayinkaji:
Hello Guys, I have cone again.
So I would soon complete payment of my first term tuition fee of 8400 CAD for Durham 1 year.
My total fee is 16,815 CAD.

So it remains a fee of about 8145CAD left approx 3m using 1 cad to 348 naira exchange rate.

My sponsor (parents) has about 8m in his personal account and has other business running which he is the sole owner and other landed properties.

I don't have much money left in my account as I used it in paying for my first-semester fee. My parents will help pay for the rest.

I intend to package all this in my application soonest, does this make sense or is there any other thing I could add to help my SOP better?

Your help is appreciated.

N.B: I work as a Project Officer presently and going for a Project Management course.
Apart from the balance of your tuition fee. You still have to set aside $10,000 for 1 year upkeep (accommodation, feeding and other expenses) . So you do the maths and compare with what you have to see if it is enough.
Lastly apart from presenting your parents bank statement, you still have to convince the visa officer that they would be willing to sponsor you with their money.

Good day nairalanders, I would please love your advice on this my situation.
So I got admission to a program for fall 2022 but my study permit came in December. The school withdrew my application because my study permit came late. On my letter of Acceptance, it states that the expiration of the acceptance is 19th September 2022.
The program doesn’t have winter or spring term only fall for 2023. And sadly the school doesn’t even have any program for winter or spring terms.
Is it possible for me to travel with this letter of acceptance to Canada, and when I reach there I could search for another school? My study permit is valid till 2024
.
If you plan to change your DLI or program before you travel , then you must inform IRCC and in such a case you would need to apply for another study permit.
So your best option is to apply for that same program in the same college for fall 2023 and all you need to do is update or inform IRCC of your new letter of acceptance so that when you travel next year you wont have any problem.

Thank you for your response.

Honestly, I don’t like keeping huge liquid funds in my account when there is no interest earned. I like putting money here and there to add more… I hope you understand. How about paying my first semester tuition which is 9kCAD.

I submitted properties (land and house) in my name. I also did power of attorney for my mom’s property and building project too. There are outflows from my bank statement showing I’m supporting the building project too.
The reason why I gave you that advice is because , your case seems to be similar to that of my cousin. He is self sponsored . Below is how his story went.
First application:
I. Submitted study permit application by paying the minimum tuition deposit.
II. Showed the rest of the tuition + money for upkeep for a year in his bank account. It's a 1 year program.
III. Added copies of his tax records and salary earned for the pass 3years till the last month prior to his application submission.
IV. Added documents showing ownership of car, and also employment letter.
After 4 months of waiting , his study permit application was refused . Mainly because he couldn't explain properly to convince the visa officer how the program he intended to study related with his job and the visa officer wasn't conviced of his home ties.

After the rejection letter he submitted another application within a week of the refusal with all the same documents as before and also included a well written 4 page letter of explanation . His home ties were his sibling , parents and his job. After 3 months he got a message from IRCC to submit a proof of payment of 1year complete tuition within a month of getting that mail. He did and after 2weeks he got his PPR.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Compliments of the season!!!!!

I need your inputs please!!!

My SP was refused based on financial asset. I requested for CBSA and the report came in.

I’ll start by saying I don’t know how VO’s sometimes reasons when it comes to applications from young Nigerians (I know being a Nigerian has happened to me)

My Brief background:
- Single applicant
- Working
- tuition fee - approximately 18kCAD
- One year program.
- Paid tuition deposit (2,650CAD)
- I had fixed deposit (All letters were submitted including rollover and liquidation) - N8m
- my bank statement- N6.2m (sponsors N5m + my 1.2m)
- Pension statement - N4m plus
- Coming inflow from my running business contract from one of the biggest Telcom company which will be due first quarter of 2023 (letters attached) - N10m plus
- Sponsor - my mom (transferred N5m to my account with letter of support and affidavit).
- Sponsors occupation- Government sector (Chief Environmental Officer)
- Documentation for Sponsor - employment letter, paystubs, ID, promotion letter, stamped Canada visa (I didn’t submit her bank statement). Sponsor was even in Canada when I applied.

NB: My sibling is a Canadian citizen, I didn’t mention him because:
- I didn’t want the VO to think I can’t sponsor myself, my mom was the best choice.
- To avoid stronger ties in Canada.
- and the school isn’t in same province where he live.

Omo! I go sue this guys with immigration lawyers o! (Na joke I Dey joke lol).

So guys, what do you think I should do differently. Do you think I should use my sibling as sponsor now. I have deferred my admission to May 2023.

Thank you
I will advice you to reapply and this time try paying the one year tuition fee complete and have the money for your upkeep in your account. Also try adding your tax records , income and also any property in your name like Car(s), house, business and land to show strong home ties. With all this you are good to go.

Hey guys, I need some help please. My sister is trying to submit her study permit application. She has filled the forms, attached and uploaded all necessary docs.
She then went ahead to pay. However it showed 'your payment is being processed. this can take up to 24 hours, we'll email you confirmation link' bla bla bla.
More than 24 hours later, she checked and it's just showing that the fees still need to be paid and when she clicks on continue application it does nothing.
We've tried different cards including my card which is a foreign card but nothing is working, it's not debiting me and not showing payment failed or error. Just the same 'processing' and then it reverts back to the page where they need to pay again.

Has anyone experienced this or have any input. I know IRCC's system is buggy but this is really annoying and I'm assuming all online applications must be paid for online and can't be done at the local VFS yes?

Any help from you guys on our next step would be appreciated. Thanks
Try paying with a VISA prepaid card. Their website works well with Visa prepaid cards.

You can travel to 33 countries visa with your uk student visa.

The uk student visa might be expensive but it's better than using UK visiting visa to live in the Uk

It's not true . Your uk study visa only allows you to travel visa free around the countries that forms the UK ( Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales) Including the channel islands and isle of man. If you want to visit other countries you will need a Visa. Except you hold a passport that allows you visa free entry into that country.

Because I really don’t want to let that 1500 cad go like that
Conestoga college will refund your deposit only if you send them prove that your study permit application was rejected , by sending them a copy of the refusal letter from IRCC. Also you need to withdraw your acceptance before resumption starts. Lastly they will deduct $200cad and refund $1300cad to the same account you used in making the $1500cad deposit. You will need to sign into your student account to ask for a refund.
I know all this because my friend got his deposit refunded less $200cad from Conestoga college after his study permit application got rejected.
