Nice, but you will need a lot more weight than 4 bags. If either of them failed that test, the maker should be jailed.

Cover the drain holes with mesh that allow water to flow, but not debris. At that height though, you may not need to worry about leaves and dirt build up.

Among the other things mentioned, the dinning room appears to be very tight.

I'm not in Nigeria. I want to buy aND bring the phone I will use while there.

I've yet to have a nice shower in my many visits to Nigeria. Whether with family or at a hotel, the water pressure is low.

My dream of a roof-top deck is slowly slipping away.

I'd like to get a second opinion from the experienced builders on Nairaland (others are welcome to respond).

The image attached is not my house, nor is it my proposed house but I want a rooftop deck similar to what you see. The only difference is the rooftop deck I am hoping for will be above my dinning and guest room, not a garage.

Would a rooftop deck for entertainment require the same level of support that is required for decking that will be used to support first level living (bedrooms, masters suite, additional cement blocks)?

Can a thin slab be poured for the deck? Is there an alternative to achieve a roof top deck?

This is my own definition.

A frame structure describes structure in which the loads from the floors or slabs are transferred through the beams to the column and the columns also transfer same to the foundation which now spread the load to the ground underneath. In this structure, the walls act as non load bearing, they only resist some wind load and act as demarcation.

Building a frame structure involves the foundation works, after which the columns/pillars will be erected, followed by the beams, slab and stair. When the building is more than one storey, same process will continue till the required floor will be reached before the block works.

It is more expensive because the members will require more formwork. A column with four sides will need formwork on all the four sides unlike two sides if the block work was done first.

If the walls are not load bearing and are just there to separate rooms, can cheaper material be used for the separation of rooms or, do I even need walls if I have an open floor concept?

Hypothetical question: if I want all my external walls to be glass, could I do that without reducing the structural make-up or quality of the building?

its a good idea.. I think it needs to be backed up with an outdoor kitchen for theft and steamy delicacies. This will be a fancy one for breakfast, eggs and light dishes. But the banga soup will be made in the outdoor kitchen....

In my opinion, an outdoor kitchen is not necessary. Get a ducted range hood to vent the air to the outside. It helps a lot.

Why do you have a pass through window next to the opening? Why not extend the opening?
