Dareomo:in your dreams, rotflmao!! |
fairheven:my query to you is simple. Back up your ridiculous drug doping claim and also that its govt sponsored. Am all on over you now. |

JamieNaij:This is why people need media managers! This is probably what went down between the winner of the marathon and a bigoted, one toothed journalist with a jaundiced view of Kenya and kenyans. "JOURNALIST" : Congrats ma'am for winning the Lagos marathon at your first attempt, how does it feel? MARATHON WINNER : *gasping for breath* umm aaahh ummm aaahh its really a great feeling, whooooo yeeeeah and i want to thank God first for this victory and my manager and coaches for their steadfast training, my family for their everlasting love, support and encouragement. I never knew i would win at my first attempt, and my respect also to my fellow competitors who pushed me all the way. "JOURNALIST ": Excellent. Do you see yourself running other marathons soon? Perhaps the Olympics or Worlds? MARATHON WINNER : * barely breathing for want of precious air* Hahahahaa that's a dream i aspire to one day soon ,no doubt, but i gotta be honest with you. Am not ranked in the top 50 women marathoners in my country, talk less of the world, so i have to be practical with my expectations, am content with running newbie grade marathons like Lagos marathon, if not to make a name for myself, but to run away with an easy 50,000 $ . You know back home in Kenya it's next to impossible to make the National Team in athletics, the talents pour out of the ground like ants, i have to take every opportunity that presents itself and Lagos marathon was like taking candy from a baby. I love babies,no offence to them. "JOURNALIST ": None taken. MARATHON WINNER:*...continuing... * It's always difficult running in humid environments, like Lagos, the smog hanging over the city makes it even worse, my dad actually told me not to come here because of that , he doesn't know i came here, but i think the folks back home would be pleased to hear i won nevertheless. "JOURNALIST " : wow. Is that so? You really had to come and run this one didn't you? Why do you love Nigeria so much? MARATHON WINNER : hahahahaa actually yes and no. Back home in Kenya, the local TV networks love to screen nollywood movies on weekdays between 8-11 am and when i get up in the morning before training as i eat breakfast, i switch on the Telly to amuse myself. Put myself in a good mood. I especially like the two very funny short guys called Aki and pawpaw. They're so funny and full of tricks and adventure. I know, i know you wouldn't understand, but i find them hilarious. Your poison, my meat i guess. "JOURNALIST " : Maybe so. So you're saying you like Nigerian men, midget or no? Abeg, my kenyan sister, tell os ooooo! MARATHON WINNER : I didn't say that, you did. *Annoyed * Hey, you know what, i have nothing against anyone based on where they were born or what language they speak, or their religion. Nothing at all. I cherish good people it's what my parents taught me. And if a good, God fearing respectful, responsible and caring nigerian man were to approach me, then hell yeah, not that i spend my waking hours thinking of Nigeria as my dream country. Are we good here? Am outta breath in case you haven't noticed. "JOURNALIST ": Okay okay. There we have it ladies and gentlemen, confessions of a marathon runner from Kenya and the unexpected baring of her soul to the world. *motioning to cameraman * Back to you in the studio. |
Kingbuhari:An even better solution would be to ban Kenyans from existing, don't you think? |
seguno2:A Kenyan man is the current 400 m hurdles WORLD champion. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Bett As for football, nothing is permanent. Maybe you can start by qualifying for AFCON |
Pavore9:Thank you @Pavore9 , you are a very insightful man. Please teach your fellow Nigerians. They seem to think all Kenyans are slim bodied athletes. We have the honour of having the most famous athletic tribe in the world (kalenjins) amongst us. Am a Kenyan and i bet many of you armchair athletes can beat me in the 5 m dash. Btw, by default, a marathoner must be lean of build, its important to mimimise input and to maximize results. |
fairheven:The Russian case is without doubt beyond reasonable proof. Prove the Kenyan allegation. Else I call you a bitter bit*h. |
Valfrankie:Ask yourself, if we have no "better food " in Kenya, where do they get the energy to run? Or better still, where has "better food " got 9ja on the all time Olympics medals standings? hmmm? |
lastmaster:A dairy cow. Plenty of money. not that you know anything about it. |
Damilola, by the power vested in me, i hereby declare you an honorary Kenyan and confer upon you all the benefits and privileges that appertain. Kudos |
pablobellins:1 $ = approx 100 kshs |
sapiosexual1:Lol, tryna appropriate Obama!! Obama Made in Lagos!!! Nigerians you never cease to amaze me. He kenyan bro, just look at his name!! |
dingbang:kenyans have their own marathon too. Nairobi marathon and Lewa marathon immediately spring to mind. |
olajazz:"dry chest" or $ 50,000, which would you prefer? |
Dear Nigerian bros/ sisthren, this one was made for us. Dollar dollar bill y'all. |
Olasco93:Oga, you sure about Zimbabweans being good marathon runners? Oh wait, i think you confused them with Ethiopians, they look and sound alike, right? |
Dear Nigerians, this one is for us. Kindly allow us to deplete dollar reserves. |
eezeribe:Yup, eat your heart out, Marco Polo!!! |
doubleportion: |
doubleportion:Traversing Addis to Cape Town is much longer than a similar traverse of say, Dakar to Lagos. consult your map. One would go from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana /Zimbabwe, South Africa pretty much hitch free. I have done the Nairobi to Joburg route 4 times by road/rail.I know what am talking about. |
Muafrika2:Hiyo ya Easy Coach, you need to tell me the full storo. Yaani they go to doctor Congo??!! Travelling to Southern Africa is generally a breeze and straight forward. There's no problems travelling from Nairobi to Dar. Or from Dar to Lusaka. Lusaka to Harare, then Harare to Joburg. Plenty of bus companies on all those routes. |
Fidha254:They only play futbol soja. |
Bujumbura:And what has Nigeria accomplished in Olympics compared to kenyans??!! |
Muafrika2:Really? like where exactly. Btw i have travelled from Nairobi to Harare and onwards to Gaborone via road in private vehicle . In Africa, traveling north south easier than west to east. |
Hbuyosh:Crazy as it sounds, in 1995 or thereabouts, i met a young Nigerian student who told me his dad made a trip by road from Harare Zimbabwe to his hometown in SE Nigeria. He travelled via Zambia, Congo DR, Congo Rep, Gabon Cameroon. He swore by it and i had no reason to doubt him. In Peugeot 505!! |
EMEKUSBOY9:Just fly. |
Muafrika2:The longest and generally speaking safest long haul in Africa is Addis Ababa to Cape Town, all others are a death trap. |
Canadian man found in Amazon following '10,000-mile journey barefoot across the continent' after vanishing five years ago Nick Allen, washington 10 FEBRUARY 2017 • 7:35AM A Canadian man who vanished five years ago has been found thousands of miles away in a city in the Amazon rain forest after apparently walking much of the way there. Anton Pilipa, 39, who was last seen by his family in 2012, was discovered wandering barefoot on a track with no passport or identification documents near Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas. His brother Stefan Pilipa told media outlets his sibling had mental health problems and had begun treatment for schizophrenia before disappearing. He had apparently walked and hitchhiked across two continents, surviving by begging and foraging for food. "I feel amazed that he's alive and had made it that far," Mr Pilipa told CBC. "I found myself being really frustrated all the time, always having that aching question: 'Where is he? What happened to him?'" Although details were scarce, the journey of more than 10,000 miles had reportedly taken Pilipa from Vancouver, where he was living, across at least ten borders to Buenos Aires, Argentina, before he turned north again and headed into Brazil. He was first picked up by police in Brazil in November and taken to hospital but then escaped and headed into the jungle. Helenice Vidigal, a Brazilian-Canadian police officer who questioned him, said, "That is the area where we talk about huge predators like crocodiles and jungle cats. We truly were afraid he could be eaten by one of those animals." After being found again near Manaus, Officer Vidigal found Pilipa's family in Canada through Twitter. Stefan Pilipa, who flew to Brazil to bring his brother back, said: "He looked really rough. His health was starting to deteriorate. We got him just in time." Anton Pilipa told BBC Brasil: "I know that I am very lucky to be alive. I am very happy to be able to return to my family." In 2011 he was charged with assault and weapons offences but disappeared before he was due in court. When he arrived back in Toronto this week he was arrested and released on bail. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/02/09/canadian-man-reportedly-found-amazon-following-10000-mile-journey/
