SUNDAY SERMON: THE TRUTH ABOUT TITHING

I came across this piece on a Whatsapp page and it so represented my views on tithing that I could have written it myself. Please enjoy the read!

The Trial of Pastor Jones (Author unknown)

Judge: Mr. Jones you have been charged with multiple counts of extortion. Your crime spree covers 20 years and thousands of victims. You have defrauded people out of their money with fear and manipulation, telling them they had to tithe 10% of their income as per the LAW to your Regd. organization (called Church) and that God would bless them if they did. You also told them that if they didn't tithe God would curse them.

How do you plead?

Mr. Jones: I plead not guilty your Honor, I have done nothing wrong. I have only preached what the Bible says. In the Bible Abraham tithed to Melchizedek and God blessed him for his faithful giving. The Bible even says he was rich in silver and gold.

Judge: Is it not true, Mr. Jones, that in Genesis Chapter 13 verse 2 the Bible says Abraham was rich with livestock, silver and gold?

Mr. Jones: Yes, you are exactly right, that's what I just told you.

Judge: Ok, we read about Abraham being a rich man in chapter 13 but it is not until Genesis chapter 14 that we read about Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek. So Abraham was already a rich man before he tithed to Melchizedek, wasn't he?

Mr. Jones: Yes, I suppose you are right.

Judge: So his riches were not the result of his tithe to Melchizedek?

Mr. Jones: No.

Judge: Mr. Jones, you also say God blessed him for his faithful giving. How many times is it recorded that Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek?

Mr. Jones: Well, just once.

Judge: So the Bible never said that he gave week after week?

Mr. Jones: No it does not.

Judge: Where did Abraham get the things that he gave to Melchizedek?

Mr. Jones: Well the Bible says it was from the plunders of war?

Judge: So you are telling me that he gave from the plunders of war?

Mr. Jones: Yes that's what the Bible says.

Judge: So he basically took things that were not really his in the first place and gave them as the tithe?

Mr. Jones: That is what the scripture seems to indicate.

Judge: Is it recorded that he ever took anything from his own possessions and tithed them to Melchizedek or anyone else?

Mr. Jones: I guess not

Judge: You guess not, you are a teacher and you are only guessing, is it or is it not written that he ever gave any of his own possessions as a tithe to anyone?

Mr. Jones: No it is not written anywhere that I have seen.

Judge: Is it recorded as to what exactly Abraham did give Melchizedek?

Mr. Jones: I believe it says plunder?

Judge: So plunder could be any number of things?

Mr. Jones: Yes, I suppose

Judge: It could have been food, cattle, sheep, the people's possessions or any number of things. It does not say it was all money correct?

Mr. Jones: Yes you are correct, it does not say just money

Judge: As a matter of fact money is never mentioned in that account at all is that correct Mr. Jones?

Mr. Jones: Yes your Honor, money is never mentioned just goods and food and people.

Judge: So there is no way you can say with any certainty that Abraham in fact gave Melchizedek any money at all?

Mr. Jones: That is right.

Judge: I only have one last question for you
Mr. Jones, did God command Abraham to give this plunder tithe to Melchizedek?

Mr. Jones: No, it appears that he did this voluntarily.

Judge: So are you trying to tell me that because of this voluntary, one time gift by Abraham, that may not have even consisted of money, all Christians everywhere are obligated to bring 10% of their weekly paycheck to a local Regd.Organization-church?
Considering all the evidence I would say you are beyond any shadow of a doubt guilty of deliberately trying to make the scriptures says things they have not said for financial gain.

Mr. Jones: Ok your Honor, I can see how foolish I was to try and use the story of Melchizedeck to try and get the people to tithe money. But there are many other verses that will support my belief on tithing. Jacob said he would give God 10% of everything. I think we should follow his example.

Judge: Let's see what Jacob said. Please read the verse you are talking about for me Mr. Jones.

Mr. Jones: In Genesis chapter 28 starting at verse 20 it says. Jacob vowed a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on, so that I come again to my father's house in peace, and Yahweh will be my God, then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, will be God's house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give the tenth to you."

Judge: You said we should follow Jacobs example, is that right Mr. Jones?

Mr. Jones: Yes that is right, he vowed to give a tenth and we should too.

Judge: Let me point out one thing for you Mr. Jones, Jacob said he would Give God a tenth, ONLY if He blessed him first. So as you said previously, we should follow Jacob's example and tell God that we will only give him a tenth if he blesses us first. Is that right?

Mr. Jones: That is not what I meant.

Judge: What did you mean then?

Mr. Jones: That we should give God a tenth also.

Judge: There you go again, trying to make the scripture say what you want it to say for your benefit. I would also like you to tell me the scriptures that say that Jacob kept his vow with God. I would also like to know where he gave the tenth to because there was no temple or levites to give it to at that time.

Mr. Jones: I can not think of any scriptures that say where or if he ever tithed after his vow.

Judge: It seems fairly obvious to me that Jacob made a voluntary and conditional vow to God. This in no way can be used as a reason to demand others to bring their income to you or any other place.

Mr. Jones: I do have a few more scriptures that I believe will show that we are supposed to tithe.

Judge: You have not said anything yet to convince me one little bit that people are obligated to tithe money to the local organizational institutions -churches and that you were justified in what you were doing. You have taken scripture and misapplied it to your beliefs and for your gain. But in order to be fair to you I will allow you to present more evidence.

Mr. Jones: In the book of Malachi chapter 3 starting at verse 8 it says, will a man rob God? yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, In what have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now with this, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. So you see your Honor, we are commanded to bring the tithes into the storehouse or God will curse us.

Judge: Answer me this Mr Jones, Who was God Speaking to here?

Mr Jones: To the People of Israel

Judge: Can you please read Malachi 2: 1 Please Mr Jones

Mr Jones: Now This command is for you O PRIEST !!

Judge: Did God stop talking to the Priest in Chap. 3, Mr Jones?

Mr Jones: No your Honor!

Judge: Answer me this Mr. Jones, were you aware that God never required anyone to tithe money?

Mr. Jones: No I didn't know that.

Judge: The tithe spoken of here was always edible products never money.

Mr. Jones: Well your Honor that is because they didn't have money at the time so God had them tithe food instead.

Judge: Not true, money is first mentioned in Genesis and Malachi was written hundreds of years later. God had them bring food in so that the levites, the fatherless and widows may eat and be satisfied. The tithe was used mainly to take care of people. Also notice it says in the verse you quoted, that there may be food in my house. The food was the tithe. How do you completely overlook the word food in those verses?

Mr. Jones: I don't know

Judge: I also want you to know that these verses speak to nation under the Old Testament law. As you may or may not know Jesus fulfilled the law, it is no longer binding. Once again you have tried to completely take a scripture out of context and apply it to others for your benefit. Can you give me a single scripture where God changed the tithe from food to money?

Mr. Jones: I do not know of any.

Judge: So if God never changed it from food to money who did?

Mr. Jones: Man must have.

Judge: So far all you have done Mr. Jones, is take Old Testament scriptures out of context and try to apply it to believers under the New Covenant. Is this all the proof you have?

Mr. Jones: I do have a New Testament scripture that will show that Jesus told us to tithe.

Judge: Ok let me hear it.

Mr. Jones: Jesus said in Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone. See Jesus said we should be tithing.

Judge: Let me ask you a question, who was Jesus talking to?

Mr. Jones: The scripture says the Scribes and Pharisees.

Judge: Are you a scribe or Pharisee?

Mr. Jones: Of course not.

Judge: Jesus also said in that passage, you have left undone the weightier matters of the law. Are we under the law Mr. Jones?

Mr. Jones: No.

Judge: Why not?

Mr. Jones: Because Jesus fulfilled it.

Judge: When did Jesus fulfill the law?

Mr. Jones: When He was crucified.

Judge: So the law was still in effect until Jesus death?

Mr. Jones: That is correct.

Judge: I think you know where I am going with this don't you?

Mr. Jones: Yes your Honor. Since Jesus had not yet been crucified and the law was still binding the Pharisees were required to tithe because it was part of the law. Once the law ended, tithing ended also.

Judge: I want you to take a look at that verse again. Also tell me, what were they tithing?

Mr. Jones: The scripture says it was mint, dill and cumin.

Judge: Is money mentioned?

Mr. Jones: No it was not.

Judge: Once again it was edible products that they were tithing, not money. Do you have anything else you would like to say?

Mr. Jones: If people only tithed edible products like the scripture says, then how would the church survive? We have our mortgage payment, utility bills, staff salary and a host of other things that we have to pay each week. We depend on the money from the people.

Judge: By "church" you mean your organization isn't it Mr Jones ?
-The need does not justify the means. In other words, just because you have all these debts does not give you the right to twist and manipulate scripture and cause people to give under fear of being cursed by God to meet your needs. Does It Mr Jones?
In closing, let me recap a few things for you Mr. Jones.
-The tithe was never money;
-The tithe was an Old Testament law, which is no longer binding. When it was binding the tithe was used to take care of people, not buildings.
- We are under a new covenant now.
Paul instructs the Corinthian believers how they are to give. He says in second Corinthians chapter 9 verse 7, Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver. So each believer is supposed to give as he or she has determined in his or her heart.
If they determine to Give 10% well and good, If they keep aside some every week to meet this more better. If you are trying to make people give under the threat of being cursed or any other reason even blessing, you are wrong. Someone can not give cheerfully if they are being forced to give. If 'your church can not survive on freewill offerings maybe God is not part of your church at all.
Mr Jones, do you intentionally put your people under a Curse or a Bondage?

Mr Jones: Of Course not !!

Judge: Can you Read in context Gal 3:10-11: For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them ....
AND
Gal 5:1-4 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage....

Mr. Jones: I never realized all these things, I have always been taught that we had to tithe money to the local church and that is what I have always taught. I can see now that I was completely wrong. I did not study the scripture for myself, I only took mans word for it.
Yes ' am guilty. I will not teach this error anymore.
Sentencing....... All Arise .....
The gospel of Christ is the gospel of truth and the endgame of that truth is freedom. Not liberty to do as we like, but freedom that comes from the knowledge of truth that We are no longer constrained by the law.

And the holy Spirit will teach us ALL things! this is inclusive!

One of the events of the last days as foretold by the scriptures is that..."the back of the Sons shall be turned against the Fathers". One of the actualization of this statement is the Tithe issue. The children will be so filled with the holy Spirit from above that they will readily be explaining deep things that can only come from the knowledge of truth, they will begin to question status quo.

This will ultimately provoke anger in the Fathers who are so deep in 'theology' and will lay claim to their long years experience and knowledge in theology.
Their pride and ego will block their hearts from seeing the truth through the kids who according to them are untrained.

I stopped paying Tithe in 2016.

It's a personal thing. Also we had a prayer program this year, Dropped a seed that's equivalent to 250% of my tithe. It was personal and not borne of coercion.

Saintsammurai:
SO many NIGERIA christians are with these mindset of going to church with any amount of cash in their their hands..to use for offering....AS a worker or as an employed human, that receives monthly salaries,, And as a true and a non hypocritical christian, you should be able to put nothing below 1,000 naira every sunday in the offering box. "You cannot spend thousands on drinks, food and recharge cards, including dstv and go tv subscriptions, etc.. without setting outside nothing less than Four thousand naira for the four sundays in a month, just to use as an offering, "note" "this is excluding "tithe" "Putting 100 naira, 500 naira, 50 naira in an offering box shows disrespect and disregard for GOD almighty, for he deserv much more than that.....WE dont have to be christians by mouth making, we need to show it too with our money....i hope you all change for the glory of GOD.
I want to believe you're a comedian.

But you went the extra mile to enbolden your lines to speak in clear terms so I also believe you're speaking from your heart.

Worker or not, your cash offering really is secondary. What matters is the condition of your heart or your motive for giving.

Clearly you have not retained God in your 'knowledge'. Youre speaking from a debased mind, God has given you over... to do things that are not convenient.

...The scripture says any one who lacks wisdom, let him seek. You are speaking heresy, unfounded gibberish that has no ecclesiastical basis with utter confidence.

It's a pity folks like you will soon be made pastor and establish a church. Blind leading the blind.

Hello house,
I have been been a nairalander for many years and i just need advice because am so devasted. I got married to my husband 7years ago with 3beautiful kids ,a girl and 2 boys

My husband is that perfect men any woman would ever prayer for.i have never suspected him for once not until last year september that i saw some frequent call from a particular no, i decided to take the no and store on my own phone,,i suspected he was cheating but i did nit have any evidence to prove it.

So last month,i activated an automatic call recording on his phone and here i am, all my doubt were confirmed, i decided not to ask him as i laid down my own plans too, i took his phone and scan his whatapp QR code and i deactivated the notification so he wont know. So with this, i was able to veiw all his chat directly from my phone through this chat i saw that the lady was around at his place yesterday morning and i travelled in the eveningbecause we dont live in the same state due to transfer

i took my children to my sisters place and i travelled, looo and behold this lady was wearing only paint and bra in my husbands room although i gave both of them good dirty slap of thier life, and i told her i have details of his guy and that i was going to call and let him know the kind of girl she is

so now to cut the long story short this lady has a fiance which is planning to wed her because i got to her instagram page and facebook page and i saw that she has a very good guy at her hand thus made me sad because i dont know why she would cheat with my husband even after having a good relationship,

my decision is that am planning to call this guy through facebook call and send him all the recording and whatappbchat between her fiance and my husband

i just want to know if am making the right decision

as for my husband , he will meet me at home
Warn her, be firm about it but don't reveal your proofs or evidence. Don't even make them suspect anything.

In the language that your husband understands, Find out why he did it and how both of you can make things better.

Conduct your own due diligence (I'll suggest you dig more about the lady's fiance) seems you are a natural spy...Watch them if they continue or not. If your husband doesn't make genuine efforts to stop seeing the girl, then proceed with all your energy and wisdom.

Follow @davinero2 advice.

Obviously you do not plan on leaving your husband.

I'd advise u send the lady a private message telling her to stay away from your man. Do not tell her you already have more evidence about the affair other than the fact that u saw her half naked in ya husband's place and don't also threaten her.

Do not also let your husband know you have more
evidence.

Monitor them for a while and if they show no signs of ending their affair willingly, then go ahead and do what's on your mind.

Fayose’s Islamic dress code in line with biblical injunctions –Grand Imam

The Grand Imam of the League of Imams and Alfas in Southwest, Edo and Delta, Sheikh Bello, has said Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Islamic dressing was in obedience to Allah’s instructions.

He added that the dressing was also in line with biblical injunctions.

Bello spoke during the Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Friday, which Governor Fayose had attended.

“The governor’s dressing was in obedience to Allah’s instructions.

“This dressing shows that the governor is not discriminating against any religion. Your Excellency, your dressing is even in line with Biblical injunctions,” Bello noted.

“If you check the book of Zecharias 3:3, the Bible says, ‘We removed unclean clothes from Joshua, we washed him clean and he was dressed with a clean turban on his head and God’s angel stood by him.’

“Our governor, as you wore the turban on your head, the angel of God is already with you and that is why you are succeeding in all that you do, against all odds,” Bello added.

In response, Fayose said, “I got elected by everyone’s vote. Choice of religion is free. As a leader, appearing in a Muslim regalia with a turban is to say that I must be part of everything the Muslims do and make then realise that we are all one family.

“I will also ensure that all their demands today are met.”

Governor Fayose had joined Muslims for the Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Friday, while formally attired in Islamic dress code, complete with a turban and a string of praying beads.

EducationRe: Nigeria Must Begin To Appreciate Its Thinkers —professor Raji-oyelade by mytym(m): 4:54pm On Aug 24, 2017
goodmanjustice:
Aderemi Raji-Oyelade is a distinguished researcher and scholar at the Department of English, University of Ibadan. He was the African recipient of the 2017 Humboldt Alumni Award for Innovative Networking Initiatives, which took place recently in Berlin, Germany. He speaks with OYEYEMI OKUNLADE on the Alexander von Humboldt Prize, among other salient issues.

You’re one of the recipients of the Alexander von Humboldt Alumni award; what is the award all about?

The Alexander von Humboldt Alumni Award for 2017 is the ninth in the series. Its focus is to encourage networking among scholars who are engaged in innovative works in their fields. The award is given to those proposals that introduce new initiatives that are inventive in creating a global network among scholars in the applicant’s home country or continent with a view to connecting with scholars in Germany.

is that for this year, the award was given to five scholars, each from Greece, Belarus, Canada, Turkey, and Nigeria.

Being the only African on the award list for 2017, what was the feeling like representing Nigeria in particular and Africa in general?

To tell you the truth, I didn’t realize the feeling until the following day, after the ceremony. My colleague and fellow Humboldtian, Professor Akin Odebunmi, stressed the point that the award was not just for UI and Nigeria, but for Africa! Looking at the photographs of the award ceremony, I now feel it was something big. Afterall, there is reward for hard work.

What are the prospects, if any, for Nigeria in terms of collaborating with the host nation, Germany?

The activity of collaboration is always already built into the project. No foundation would give you an award if it does not have the merit or the credit of giving back some value or benefits, not in monetary terms but in terms of research outcomes. How do you connect, how do you make meaning and relevance beyond your immediate environment? They look out for projects that encourage global networking. Here, I already have colleagues who have been part of the network. I also have colleagues from across other nations in Africa who are also part of the network. And yes, I have been lucky to have very good hosts and willing collaborators in Germany who are very interested in my scholarship.

You’ve spoken of networking, can you expatiate on it as regards to what you’re up to presently? The project which won the award itself won’t start until September 2017 and it runs till September 2020. What I already put in the proposal is that I am going to network to study certain aspects of cultural transformations that occur to conventional proverbs in a number of African languages. With the collaboration of others, we are collecting and studying samples of new and radical proverbs from thirteen languages across Africa.

I started with the example of Yoruba language and published a number of essays and a book between 1999 and 2012. It was the argument in the 2012 book that I used as the basis for what is now a pan-African project. I refer to it as “Postproverbial Africa Project”. There have been interventions by other scholars like Professor Toyin Jegede of Nigeria, Professor Helen Yitah of Ghana, Professor Gilbert Dotse Yigbe of Togo, Dr Rethabile Possa of South Africa and Dr Ahmad Kipacha of Tanzania, who have done similar researches or made references to the terminology, “postproverbial”. So there is connection already. What I want to build on further is the potential of reaching out to other scholars in other countries and in other disciplines from anthropology to philosophy.

The agenda is to query the native intelligence of our people, to process the nature of changes that have happened to our oral and written materials, to show that there has been a body of philosophy that exists before the knowledge of Western philosophy.

What is HKHN?

HKHN stands for “Humboldt Kolleg in the Humanities in Nigeria”. It is also one of the programmes of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The Humboldt Kolleg is conceived as a conference or workshop for scholars to come together in an academic meeting in which younger scholars would be introduced to research opportunities and facilities available in Germany. It is a colloquium of Humboldtians including other scholars mainly organized to develop a roundtable discussion around a particular theme in their disciplines. I have the honour of being the Convener of the Humboldt Kolleg which will hold in the University of Ibadan, from February 19 to 22, 2018. Over time, we have noticed that scholarships in the humanities seem to be marginalized. The percentage of scholars in the humanities and the social sciences who are involved in research is gradually decreasing. The HKHN is a proactive response to that decrease or downturn of scholarly engagement in the humanities.

The workshop/conference is also being organized to shoot down some misconceptions. The first misconception is about the term “science”. When they say “scientist” in the German language, the word is Wissenschaftler, which roughly and literally translates as “producer of knowledge”. It goes therefore that a physicist and a philosopher, or an engineer and a linguist, are both united in the intellectual work of fabricating knowledge whether concrete or abstract knowledge. As fabricators or producers, they are all Wissenschaftler(in), scientists by all means. So, when we say HKHN, it doesn’t mean that we are excluding our colleagues in the core natural and applied sciences. We are only pointing directions to those who are in the humanities, the social sciences and education axes that “this conference is for you” so that we can have the opportunity to note that they are a part of the global community of scientists.

What are the problems militating against Nigerians in accessing international awards?

There are so many problems militating against access to international awards. I can only refer to a couple of them. Attitude towards scholarship itself is a major problem. Of course, no scholar of value writes only or deliberately to win awards. You must as a rule derive joy in what you do. There is an attitudinal dysfunction between what we do, what we hope to achieve and what really we should achieve. We always talk about town and gown. Our scholarship must have value, impact and meaning for the society as consumer.

But also, we have a system that is not supportive of scholars nor appreciative of the scholarships. I mean, a state system which does not support translational scholarship as a mode of intellectual production. How many of our policy makers have visited the University of Ibadan library? Or do we actually have a working network, a connection of libraries so that our Ministry of Information would have the best of the scholarly productions of the best productive academics in this country, to be able to use these materials and recommendations that students, doctors and professors provide every year and every session.

A nation without respect for its thinkers cannot call itself a civilized nation. A society where generations of ASUU members have to be struggling continually, agitating for funding and facilities, what kind of system is that? Our best brains started leaving the country since 1986. Now, even our best potential brains who are PhD and Masters students are leaving. They are leaving because they are getting support elsewhere. Tell me, if a country recognizes my intellect and is ready to support me, why will I not listen to their call? In just a month, a Nigerian senator is getting paid what the university professor will earn in five years, what a secondary school teacher will earn in one decade.

How can we correct these anomalies?

First of all, we must have a national leadership that has listening ears. The United Nations allows a benchmark of 26 per cent of a nation’s budget for the funding of its education. The question is every time and everywhere, how much percentage are we dedicating to education? In the year 2017, Nigeria’s budgetary vote for education is just a bit above 5 per cent. But every ministry is connected to education. For instance, the Ministry of Health would have teaching hospitals, the Ministry of Agriculture has agricultural institutions and extension programmes. Everything has to do with teaching and research, including technological and other corporate institutions. So, we need to get close to the UN bar or level of reaching 26 per cent for budgeting.

I believe one of the biggest project where Sir Ian Mckellen would have featured is Harry Potter series by J.K Rowlings.

Sadly, he turned down the role as Professor Albus Dumbledore.

It is not the place of GOD to remove Spiritual Powers from his Fallen Servants.

He has other Servants for that purpose; SATAN is one of them.

Sometimes the Devil plays it smart, and does not depower a Sinner to the extent that he has Right and Ability to, because he wants to create a WITCH, or a FALSE PROPHET.

I have been saying this for months.

However, to the best if my knowledge, the entire case is based on the accusation of ONE alleged victim, a sleaze named MBALI.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdYtTPtwIFU

They went after him WITH GUNS, and WITHOUT A WARRANT, on the testimony of ONE HARLOT.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/5717485_vlcsnap00019_jpeg128038a2609ab80ab8fbbd8e2ccf7cec

When I say "HARLOT," I mean EXACTLY what I say; SHE SAID that she and other girls "SUBMITTED" themselves to the Pastor, because THEY WERE PROMISED THAT "HE WOULD MAKE THEM FAMOUS." By the way, SHE is NOT a "girl," but a TWENTY-SEVEN YEAR OLD WOMAN, who says that she was HELD AGAINST HER WILL, and RAPED AGAINST HER WILL by a FIFTY-SIX YEAR OLD MAN (who SLEEPS and goes to the BATHROOM like any regular guy, folks!) for TWO YEARS!

(Isn't there supposed to be some sort of an AWARD for THAT level of intelligence- or lack thereof?)

His LAWYER at PORT ELIZABETH said that he had ARRANGED TO MEET THE POLICE at Port Elizabeth, THROUGH HIM, and had told them what plane he was coming in on. The HAWKS (their Flying Squad, I gather,) BETRAYED HIM, and ARRESTED him like a TERRORIST, even though they had PROMISED that he was MERELY INVITED FOR AN INTERVIEW.

I want to know how you came to the conclusion that he was "ON THE RUN" having left his comfortable home, and come to the ONE city where the Police were looking for him.

Do people like yourself regard it as "FUN" to casually brand a man a criminal, and destroy his reputation, with a few keystrokes, just because it's EASY?

If your father were so accused, is THAT how you would handle the issue?

So far as I knew, until today, I was the only person defending the Right of this man to a FAIR TRIAL, based on EVIDENCE.

An alleged SYNAGOGUE CHURCH OF ALL NATIONS (SCOAN) MEMBER accused ME of being involved in his case, because of my Teaching that there is NO COMMANDMENT OF GOD IN THE LAW OF MOSES AGAINST RAPE.

He even went so far as to claim to have a report that TIMOTHY OMOTOSO told a CELL MATE that RAPE IS NOT A SIN.

Since you knew thus, why didn't you abide by it, before joining the multitude to slander him as a fugitive, without any evidence?

As soon as a person exalts themselves to be a "PASTOR" over "LESSER BRETHREN," he has FALLEN.

The Lord specifically forbade such practice.

It does not necessarily follow that other corruption will follow: MASTERY OVER FELLOW BRETHREN IS ALREADY CORRUPTION- but many Pastors live otherwise exemplary lives, and due without any scandal whatsoever- which I regard as the Spiritual equivalent of packing the whole Brethren in a big bus, and, obeying every traffic regulation, even, without offending any other road-user, quietly driving everyone into HELL.

TRUE BELIEVERS ARE EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY GHOST.

"WEARY" is NOT in their vocabulary!
If you read carefully my comments, I never said he was guilty nor did I say he was innocent. I didn't judge him. I commented based on the OPs post. You were reading to reply not to understand. Read again and keep whatever truths to yourself.

The union are not being sincere here. Why force the govt to release fund when a proper audit has not been carried out? That's like saying the independent panel carried out their own audit.
They should allow the KPMG audit go on.
Another angle to this is the fact that student in this institution are now being afforded 6 years to study a four year program. That isn't fair to private uni student who take more workload in their own four years. The public uni system is a joke.
LAUTECH is a tech school. Everyone has 5 years, except MBBS students. The reason for the extended 1 year is because of density of coursework. Even the "4-year courses" are densely packed.

I could remember the semester with the least number of coursework in my department is Year 3 Harmattan, where 9courses are mandatory. It was usual to have 11,12,10...Ironically that year 3 was the toughest really, you will be driven to the end of your wits.

If you presume those courses are simple courses with light workload, you might as well do an extensive research from any Undergrad studying Electrical Engineering.

Please i need your advice on which has more maths as a degree
It depends on your school (Course syllabus).
In some unis, All Engineering departments pass through rigorous Applied Mathematics courses... Basically Engineering is about application of knowledge developed from Scientific theories (Sciences) to suit day-to-day human limitations.

Computer Science is basically a modern name for the knowledge whose Origin is Mathematics. Comp. Sci blends Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.

It's difficult to know which has more dense Mathematics courses out of the two options.
Be that as it may, Chemical Engineering will present more tough maths than Computer Science in terms of Volume, Space and CourseWork of applied mathematics.

NB in my school back then, Computer Science is under Faculty of Engineering implying that it's still Engineering.

While my CS friends were doing Chebyshev and Butterworth polynomials in their course, I as an EE undergrad during Network Synthesis was learning how ChebyShev and Butterworth polynomials could be used to generate ChebyShev Filter and Butterworth Filter. In essence, the amount of maths may not differ the depth definitely will vary.

PoliticsRe: Group To Occupy NASS If Buhari Fails To Return In 18 Days by mytym(m): 7:45pm On Jul 20, 2017
Drinokrane:
According to Drinosblog reporters, A pro-democracy group, Concerned Nigerians, has threatened to begin a daily sit-in at the National Assembly if President Muhammadu Buhari does not return in 18 days.

The group in a statement made available to independent and signed by Deji Adeyanju, convener, asked the National Assembly to begin the process of removing the president.

It said, “Today – July 19th, 2017 marks 72 days of President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence from his office as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and from the country as a whole on a medical vacation to the United Kingdom.

“During this period, he has not made any public appearances either in London or in Nigeria and has only allegedly clandestinely communicated with very few people and an infamous voice note spoken in Hausa language wishing Nigerians happy Eid.

“Furthermore, details of President Buhari’s health status have been kept away from the generality of Nigerians while his media team and other members of his cabinet/party make conflicting comments regarding his health. As at the time of this statement, no one including members of his party as admitted by Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson of his party, knows the true medical condition of the president’s health.

“We acknowledge that during this period, President Buhari has satisfied constitutional requirements by transmitting letters to the National Assembly handing power over to his vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, on an acting capacity. The acting president has not been able to exert political will and is being continuously subdued by the antics of the cabal around the ailing president. The same cabal that has kept the president away from the country without any explanation.

“We also recognise the failure of the leadership of the National Assembly in launching an investigation or setting up a panel to look into the true status of the president’s health as we believe that they have been compromised and working with the cabal against the Nigerian people. The leadership of the National Assembly must choose between the Nigerian people and the cabal. 72 days is too long for a commander-in-chief to be away from his country without any explanation to the people that voted him.

“If the president has become incapacitated, he should do the honourable thing and resign. President Buhari cannot continue to hold the country to ransom. Nigeria must move forward with or without him.

“We hereby demand that the National Assembly invoke section 144 sub-section 4 of the Nigerian constitution and direct the setting up of a medical panel in conjunction with the acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to ascertain whether the president is incapacitated.

“This medical panel will be a team of five doctors from which one of them will be the personal physician of the president while the other four will be appointed by the Senate president.

“If the president is found with any infirmity that renders him incapable of discharging his duties, the Senate president and the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall officially declare him incapable of discharging his duties and declare his office vacant as prescribed in sub-section 2 of section 143.

“To this end, if the legislature fails to act, we will commence a daily sit-in at the National Assembly on from the 90th day of President Buhari’s absence from the country.”

Recall that President Buhari had on May 7 left the country for the UK to get medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Culled From; http://drinosblog..is/2017/07/group-to-occupy-nass-if-buhari-fails-to.html
By 90th day it would have been too late to just 'sit-in' at the National Assembly. The North is in a "Catch-22" scenario as it is.
Constitionally Osinbajo the Southerner will become the C-in-C just like it happened during GEj. Only that this time there will be serious disloyalty in the military rank and file, while the war between presidency and Senate as observed presently will be heightened almost to a point of shutdown of governance. There'll be no meaningful progress till 2019.

These Fulanis planned their mission perfectly. The only thing the North has, has been food. And they believe with the Militants and IPOB down south, they have to make sure we depend on them for food supply. They want to create a dependency on them for our food supply.

They send out terrorists cows to destroy our farmlands. Real herdsmen do not kill a whole village and even use their hands to destroy what is planted. You can see outright destructions not just cattle chewing on grasses. They pull out crops and shoots everyone and create fear.

Now our farmers can no longer go to farm, they depend on us sending money to them to buy food. In the next few years our people will look away from farms for security purpose and the North would have succeeded in making us depending on them for food supply.

I have studied these issues carefully over the years and their plans are very open in my eyes that is why I have supported Nnamdi Kanu all along. What he is doing is right for many people and wrong for the others, it depends on who you are and how sincere you are to your own self.

Why do you go to a particular church?

Most people simply go to church where their parents, friends or relatives have gone. Yet millions today go for other, more personal , reasons. I had a talk with my nextdoor neighbor the other day, and he told me, "We've tried to find a church with the best youth program. Since we have kids, isn't that the most important thing?"
Others try to find churches that are more "up-to-date," modern and exciting, or where there are more activities and better music. We are all familiar with the huge "mega-churches" where as many as 30,000 people may attend—enough to fill a small city. In those churches, people can go for years without getting to know most of the other members, and there may be very little emphasis on, or opportunity for, interacting or counseling with the pastor, or being part of an intimate "family" of worshipers who understand and pray for one another.

So, why do you go to your church?
Because I'm addicted to the sound of Pipe Organ during hymn singing...It gives me ecstacy. I attend an Anglican Church!

Was born and raised in CAC home.
My parents both were raised in Anglican, switched to CAC.
My Grandparents were devout Anglican. Whenever we visit them we attend Anglican.

Everyone knows the drill, the minute you're on board, you make sure your phone is on airplane mode. Because, if not, the pilot cannot contact the control tower. Or, because the plane will blow up mid-flight. Or something like that.

But now one pilot is debunking all those myths and paranoias. And there's a really simple reason behind it: it gives the pilot a headache. Yes, apparently if you do not turn your phone to airplane mode, the sound can be picked up in the cockpit and can be irritating to the pilots' ears.

An anonymous pilot told the question and answer site Quora: "Your phone will probably annoy a few pilots and air traffic controllers. But, most likely, not badly enough for them to take action against you...

"You may have heard that unpleasant noise from an audio system, that occasionally happens when a mobile phone is nearby."
"I actually hear such noise on the radio while flying. It is not safety critical, but is annoying for sure."

However, he continues by saying that if 50 people on the plane did not turn their phone onto airplane mode, it would cause a lot of "radio pollution".

So next time you're near a radio, put your phone down beside it and you'll hear what he means.

Benin (Bini) is metamorphic pronunciation from Yoruba word Ibinu. Benin was referred to as Ilè Ìbínu (the land of anger) which was part of Yoruba anyway. If you got your name from Yoruba word, your schooled logic should tell you Yoruba didnt originate from Benin, its the other way round!

Secondly, Oba ha T'ho kpee (Oba ke pee in Yoruba) is only metamorphic pronunciation of words which over time and distance gets metamorphosed. As people migrate away from original tongues, words, alphabets or consonants go extinct while dialects are formed. Most of these phonyms are slightly different but convey in most times same meaning.

I could go on and on...but there are other more productive activities begging for attention.

Christianity EtcRe: 7 Challenges Of Christian Youths In A Compromising World by mytym(m): 1:22pm On Jul 02, 2017
emusmithy:
There is Nairaland and there is Heaven.
There is Nairaland and there is Hell as well.

Despite our online naughtiness sometimes, help us to quickly heed Your voice and obey You in all things.

My hand is like a pen of a ready writer tonight. I speak of things as touching our Christian youths. some still holding forte waiting for the Master while multitudes lost in a system which is governed by the prince of darkness himself, Satan- The father of all compromisers/backsliders.

As I write this, I want to say, it's not an easy road. Not for ANYONE. It's a challenging one.

SIN is being watered down like it's not a big deal. Yes, sin has been dealt with BUT what about your old carnal self no one else knows about?

Let's see a few ones;

1. Thinking You Can Handle The Opposite Sex Yourself.

How many times have you fallen to immorality just because you thought you could visit him and still resist his advances? Same with guys. You know you love bobby so much and all your converts are girls with very big ones. You are on a long thing. I laff you in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic! Errrmmm....
The truth is, no girl visits "For The First time" a guy without fear that he might touch her. The thought comes due to the frailty of human nature.
Some even sleep over and still think nothing will happen.
It never works!
The Biblical advice is FLEE from all appearance of evil.

Don't visit a guy for no strong reason and when it the thing happens, they both start feeling awful. Remember Kemen and Tboss?

The wisest of girls stay away from such scene.

Once read the story of a guy who began talking to a Christian girl and he said, "Visit me, don't you trust yourself?" Her reply was simply true, "Yes, I truly don't."

2. The easy access to p*rnsites.

Let's call a spade a spade, there's hardly a Christian youth who hasn't been by affected by this, directly or indirectly. Those days, it was only sold on CDs and cassettes and how unlucky you'll be when watching it, NEPA takes the light and your parent return in the evening to put on that same CD and they see blah! Today, it can be so covered that others can play with your phone and still not see where you his those filthy nude clips. Sin is every everywhere. Indeed endemic. Christian youths must watch against it.

3. The inner appetite for instant gratification.

You wee find a young guy working in small place being paid as little as #15,000 dressing up like he owns GTBank. What! The girl uses all her salary to buy shoes and make up just to satisfy the moment. Why would a guy who earns such "balary" be dating a girl? He ends up spending all his hard-earned money on her just because of INSTANT GRATIFICATION. What's wrong with investing into yourself, thus the future?

4. The desire to feel among; not 'left behind'.

So many things have gone wrong. Mentors must be carefully chosen. It was our 'mentors'- the Westerners who came up with this statement, "Too heavenly minded that you become earthly redundant." Is that even possible? No one truly gives his all to Jesus (not religion) and lack anything, anything! You may call him a virgin and he's missing something. Pure lie! He ain't missing nothing! No earthly knowledge could ever compare to the eternal words found in the Bible.
Trying to feel among is an act of ignorance. Conforming to their ways will lead to a dead-end street. Be wise! Twenty children don't play for twenty years!

5. Being pastored by pastors who have left "The Way"

Pastors are humans as well. I hear teachings by some pastors and I wonder, Is God still ALL we need? A popular American pastor was asked, Is there a heaven for folks of other beliefs? Yes or No. He began saying, "I don't know. I can't judge them. I believe if they lead good lives they could make it, I don't know..." No assertiveness of Jesus when He said, "I (alone) AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE..."
Many churches in Nigeria are just political churches. They've left their calling long time ago. PAUL WASHER is the man for the moment. Preaching the very mind of God in these last days. His church has many youths too who want to please God, affect their generation and make heaven.

6. The unclothedness of our ladies.

I can write a book on this. It seems like Sex truly sells indeed. There is a compulsory need to expose the cleavage, at least. When cautioned they reply, "Why can't he close his eyes?"
A buxom girl will leave his house for the market wearing a light top, with no bra! Is that one not an agent of Satan? When guys starts staring at her, she starts wondering why. No brainer! Temptation everywhere!
A girl visits you for the first time and in her very mind she expects a touch so she dresses like it and when he falls to such temptation, she starts asking silly questions like, 'Where is this relationship headed?" To River Benue o! Smh! Save us Lord!

7. The Pursuit of Financial Security

The length some guys go to be financially secure can be alarming.
The love of money is indeed a devil to be feared.
Some even resort to stealing from parents just to be seen as financially independent.
You don't have to do that. Life is lived in levels. What you don't have now, you don't need now. When your time comes, you'll have them.
Stop being in a hurry to achieve financial peace. You might make the mistake of a lifetime and that might end you behind bars, your Christian title notwithstanding.

Finally; I do not write this because I'm qualified to. I write because I'm gifted/inspired to. We all have one or two areas we need to change for the best. God won't give up on us until we do. You are a work in progress. Be honest with God when you ask for Grace to live above sin/hypocrisy. He'll give us the grace. Yes He will.

Help us Lord!
God bless you for this!
