The Father Of Jude Oguejiofor, a lawyer who is also Principal Partner in Oguejiofor & Co Chamber, has slumped and died after hearing kidnappers had killed his son.

Oguejiofor and his brother, a medical doctor, were ambushed and abducted on their way to see their parents on Sunday, Feb. 11. The medical doctor was released but they held on to Jude Oguejiofor.

As family members were making efforts to bargain for his release, the kidnappers informed them of the lawyer’s demise.

Family sources said Oguejiofor’s father was in stable health condition until he received the devastating news that his son had been murdered by the kidnappers. He collapsed and died suddenly shortly after receiving the news.

“The man was healthy while his son was in captivity but the trauma from Jude’s abduction proved too much for him to bear after we were informed of his death,” a family member noted.

Why Killing Your Husband, Terrible Bad News.

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the murder of one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, Lapai Local Government by his newlywed wife, Aisha Aliyu.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday.

The command through the Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident in Minna said Aisha Aliyu stabbed her husband to death and disappeared from the scene.

He stated, “Today 12/02/2024 (Monday), at about 1200hrs, information was received that in the early hours, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu, 19/20yrs of the same address.

“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination; effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.”

He disclosed that the case is currently under investigation.

A source from the area said before the incident, the newly married couple had a minor argument on Sunday evening after which they reconciled before going to bed.

According to the source, at midnight, the mother of the deceased heard him screaming and rushed out alongside other residents only to find him in his pool of blood on the floor while his wife was nowhere to be found.

It was further gathered that the couple got married on December 31, 2023, after dating for some years.

DAILY POST learnt that Aisha had met another man and decided not to marry Idris but was prevailed upon by family members.

Why Stabbing Poor House Wife In LAGOS Na?

A Lagos Housewife, Barakat Adio, was on Sunday stabbed to death during a free-for-all fight with a neighbour, Cynthia Aigbondon, while fetching water at a public tap in the Ajegunle area of Lagos.

The Deceased and the suspect had allegedly engaged in a heated argument over whose turn it was to fetch water from the only available public borehole in the area.

It was learned that during the argument, which later resulted in a brawl, Cynthia dashed into her one-room apartment, and grabbed a kitchen knife with which she allegedly stabbed the deceased.

It was also learned that Cynthia was arrested by other neighbours at the scene as she tried to escape after noticing blood gushing out from the side of the deceased.

Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.

Hundeyin said the incident was reported at the station by the late woman’s husband, Lukmon Adio.

He said around 9.45pm, the said Lukmon reported a murder case at the station against the suspect.

“He said his wife had a minor misunderstanding while fetching water at a public borehole close to his house, with her neighbour, one Cynthia Aigbondon, during which the suspect stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife on her left side.

A 24-Year-Old Man, Omoosumi Samuel, also known as Toby Woods, has been reported missing by his family in the Gbagada area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the furniture maker, who lives with his elder brother, had been missing since last Wednesday, and his whereabouts had since remained unknown till date.

PUNCH Metro learnt that efforts made by family and friends to contact him proved abortive as his phone number was switched off, so they took to their various social media platforms to create awareness about his sudden disappearance.

Our correspondent learnt that this had also caused panic among his customers, who patronised his furniture business, 360 furniture, both physically and online.

His elder brother, identified as Pelumi Omoosumi, who spoke to our correspondent on the phone, revealed that the last time he set his eyes on his sibling was when he left for work on Wednesday morning.

“I left him in the house. I was heading to work, so I left him at home. In our conversation in the morning, he said he was going to Mushin to buy materials for work because he is a furniture maker.

“When I came back home, I did not meet him. So, we have been looking for him ever since. I have contacted all his friends as well. I have reported to the police station at Ifako. They said they were going to send out a radio and signal search to all the police stations in Lagos. They have started responding to us, as we just got a police report now, to get other information we need”, he said.

Pelumi said he tried visiting hospitals, and police stations at Mushin, since that was where he hinted he was going to get materials before his disappearance.

“I did not get positive response from the locations I visited at Mushin, as they were just referring us to other places. We did not see him there”, he said.

When our correspondent made efforts to contact the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Monday, for his reaction, he could not be reached as he did not respond to calls or texts sent to his telephone number as of the time of filing this report.

Another staff of Kwara State University, Malete, Hameed Adekunle Hanafi is dead.

The late Hanafi, a lecturer and Associate Professor in the institution, died in Ilorin, the state capital on Monday after a brief illness.

DAILY POST reports that this is coming barely five days after the death of the deputy bursar of the university, Abdullahi Olaitan Ayuba.

Recall that Ayuba died while watching the Nigeria/South Africa AFCON 2024 match on Wednesday after he reportedly developed high blood pressure.

Born on December 27, 1968 at Babaloke, Moro Local Government Area of the state, the late Hanafi joined the services of Kwara State University in 2022.

He held several positions and lectured in various institutions including, School of Law, Kampala International University, Uganda, Kogi State University, Faculty of Law, Ayigba and Al-Hikamah University, Faculty of Law, Ilorin, among others.

The deceased is survived by a wife and children.

A 400-Level Student Of Kwara State University, Malete, in the Moro Local Government Area of the state, identified as Rashidat Shittu, has reportedly committed suicide over her academic performance.

According to her colleagues who confided in Sunday PUNCH, the deceased committed suicide ahead of her upcoming exams by ingesting insecticide.

Shittu was said to have been pronounced dead on arrival at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital where she was rushed to for treatment.

It was reliably gathered that she was first taken to the school clinic before she was later referred to the teaching hospital to save her life.

Also, a staff member who was part of the medical team that attended to her at UITH but did not want her name in print said that the student was brought in dead.

“Her colleagues said she was having issues with her academic status in school. She later informed her colleagues when she started feeling the pain that she had ingested insecticide,” she said.

A resident who witnessed her Janazah at the Muslim cemetery, Osere, Ilorin, told our correspondent that the deceased was buried at the facility by family members and employees of the students affairs unit of KWASU.

When contacted, KWASU’s Director of University Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, in a text message, said that she was not aware of the death of the student.

“I am not yet aware of the information on the death of any of our students. But I will find out and get back to you as soon as those who should give the information confirm it,” Aliyu said.
