I don't think you have anything to worry about. St Albert is within the Edmonton Metropolitan region, it is not far from Edmonton City (less than 30mins drive), so more or less an extended part of the City if we can say that. Public transit routes connect St Albert and Edmonton City as well.

So, this story is about to go public. 1st of may is the date. Bambooks is the place for now cheesy

Thank you all for being the first to read it. Though a lot of things were changed. In fact. A much was added. Extra scenes too. After wedding something you know... But nothing explicit as this is a fate based book.

From 35k words, this story was edited, polished... And it's coming out as a full novel of 68k words.

I don't think I will forget these two characters in a hurry. Though I will try.

So to read the edited edition, just download from Bambooks once it's out on the 1st of May. Wish me a very happy birthday that day by downloading this or other of my books from online bookstores.
Hey Rosemary, Happy birthday to you. Enjoy a blessed year ahead.

Will the book be available on Okadabooks at some point? Checked but it isn't there yet.

Hello house.
Pls, I wish to ask a question concerning someone coming 4 a 2-year study in Canada, with a passport expiring next year September.

Is it advisable to renew the passport here in Nigeria nd summit to IRCC or renew in Canada?

Heard IRRC doesn’t give visa beyond passport's validity date

Pls, best advice
You can't renew your passport if it has more than 6 months validity on it. You should be issued a visa for the duration of your course and you renew your passport at the appropriate time. If it gives you peace of mind, print out the passport renewal guidelines from NIS and tender at point of entry when you get into the country, I guess the actual student visa is issued at the point of entry (the stamp you get in your passport before you arrive is a single entry visa to enable you get into the country).

Please ooooo my seniors Goodevening everyone,

Please i am relocating to Edmonton from Saskatchewan, i dont know anyone there. I want to start checking out apartments which areas should I avoid please

Thank you, any help will be
greatly appreciated
Hi, Edmonton just like every major city in any part of the world has its bad spots, but generally you will be advised to avoid areas like Balwin, Belvedere, McCauley, Boyle street and some others in the centre and towards Northwest but this is dependent on you as a person. But even in these areas, there are pockets of safe areas. People will say the NE is also to be avoided but there are good neighbourhoods in this area like Eaux Claires, Castle Downs, Griesbach and others. The South is said to have the best places but also pricey. So it's really dependent on your affordability and also closeness to either school/work. Edmonton's public transit works relatively well too.
You can check up the crime map for the city to get a picture of the crime status in various areas.

Hello Nat.
Please do you mean the transcript only needs to be sent by email?
My response was for your ECA report, must have misunderstood. I know WES for sure has agreement with schools that can email transcripts to them, not sure if it's all schools and if this was just to address logistics issues at the height of the pandemic, I don't know the process for other bodies. But whatever the case, you're not the one to email the transcripts, it has to be done by the school if that option is available. You need to start the evaluation process and request for your transcript, I guess the transcript fees your school will charge will cover whatever means they will use to send it to the evaluating body.

Guys please if someone has work experience in a particular noc from 3yrs ago eg 2233(and they got another noc in the same company after 3years eg 2189)…. And dt former noc 2233 is in demand for PNP .. can they use 2233 to get PNP even though it’s not their current noc ?
For FSW as long as the work experience you're claiming points for is within 10years, you're good. Not sure, but I think some provinces require it to be within 5 years or so. Read up on the PNP eligibility you're interested in to get accurate information.

Good evening guys. Quick question please, for those who have gotten PPR, how long does it usually say that you have to land in Canada before your COPR expires.
The visa stamped in your passport and medicals will expire at the same time or within the same time period. That single entry visa is your gateway into the country.
COPR is a longer term document.

Dear All,
I've tried to read through various pages on this great tread.
However, I'm still confused on either to do ECA on my M.Sc. & B.Sc. or only on M.Sc. being my highest qualification.
This is because, while some people advised to do ECA on highest qualification for Canadian EE, especially for the speed of one over two certificate, others advised doing also for B.Sc. probably because of Provincial Nomination.
Please can someone help clarify if doing on M.Sc. alone can also qualify me for Provincial Nomination etc. or must I do on B.Sc. too?
Also would doing on both increase my score?
Thanks in advance
Only your highest qualification is needed to calculate your points, so evaluating only that is okay. However, further down the line you may still need to evaluate that BSc whether it's for further studies or for some govt jobs. If you are in no major hurry, evaluate both at this point (do the stress of transcripts request once and for all), so that you have that handy for whenever the need arises.

Get in the pool. Nobody except IRCC and Trudeau knows what they are planning. Explore as many options as possible, there is allowance for dual intent. When you're in the pool, you are technically not an applicant yet unless you're invited to apply, so that can be an option while you explore others as well.

As much as this might have been the case in that particular instance, people who have had submissions for over a year shouldn't be surprised if they get adr for PCC.

Good day house, someone i know applied since 2019 October. Received an update email in 2020 that their application was approved, but COPR could not be issued cos of COVID. long story short, the medicals expired and had to be redone and new medicals have now been accepted by IRCC .
The issue we now have is that they received a request for police certificate today. We find this odd since Police certificate was provided back when the application was submitted and I do not know of anyone who had to resubmit theirs. Although there is no issue getting another one, we are worried it will further delay the application. Has anyone experienced this before?
Since you say there is no issue with getting the police certificate, what is the actual problem? Further requests for any additional document has to be met. Moreover, documents have validity periods; medicals 1 year, police report is usually valid for 6months - 1 year, if ADR for police report is requested after 2 years of an application, that is not out of place even if no other person that you know of has been asked to for it yet.

With the long delays with PPRs, everyone should brace up for any additional document requests at any point especially medicals, POF, PCC, salary accounts etc

And please I'm married and can I apply for study permit and visiting visa for my husband as accompany spouse. We have children and aged parents and siblings as home ties. For my husband to be around me for the first 3 to 4 months of my stay settlement in Canada.
What happens to your children in those first 3/4 months that both you and your husband will potentially be away? This is something to think about if your husband applies for a VV's at the same time you apply for your student's visa.
If your consideration was to go with the kids, it would be a no brainer.

Good evening house. I hope we are doing well.

I have a friend who wants to come into Canada as a student, she is to be sponsored by her company. She has all documents which includes letter of sponsorship from company, company ID card, employment letter. But one thing she doesn’t have is the payslip from the company, she said agents said she needs that or her application won’t be approved.
Can someone please shed more light on this. Thank you.

Regards.
Look at this from a very basic point and not even from the perspective of a visa officer or any authority. Why will I believe a prospective student that a company is willing to sponsor a her abroad without proof that she actually works for the said company? Being employed in a company goes beyond showing employment letter and staff ID card, I can stay in my house and produce those.
What has this staff got to show that their employment is ongoing, on what basis is the company willing to sponsor her? How is this particular staff different from others? Are there tax records/documents to show tax deductions from salary? So many questions to be asked.
Unless this is a scholarship scheme by the company which will even need to be proved beyond reasonable doubt, there is need to show concrete affiliations with the said company.

The image attached is a fresh post on LinkedIn. The post suggest qualified immigrants struggle even in the booming IT and computer science field. This is why I emphasize program with Co-op or Internship. Canadian employers are usually nicer with student and fresh bachelor's employment and than professionals.

Rather than "hustle" throughout summer, you should use it to get summer student position if you don't have internship. Most summer student or internship position recruitment is between November and April. Note that in your calendar. Also network with working progessionals in your desired field. Those that fail to plan, plan to fail. I drop this topic.
I totally agree with this and always advise prospective students to consider programs with Co-op components, this gives you at least solid three/four months footing in your desired industry by the time you're done with your program. Students have gotten permanent roles from just their coop placements.

Apart from the summer time, a co-op program has a dedicated timeline within the program for industry experience, even if a student decides to use the summer to hustle in non industry related fields, the leeway of the coop time is very important.

Of course not everyone will get on programs with coop components but if you can do so, do and if you can't, fully utilise the services provided by your school's career services department. They're very useful and helpful.

Transitioning to appropriate jobs in the right categories to qualify for PR with PGWP is getting trickier by the day (demand vs supply), while jobs in non qualifying categories (survival jobs) abound, position yourself strategically to get into the right job categories from the get go, so you are at an advantage once PGWP is gotten and you're not starting from the scratch at that point.

Please guys, what is a rule that guides someone who recently received PPR?
Can the person wait for like one 6months or 1 year before entering Canada?
Am the Primary applicant, can my wife and kid enter, while I finish my project before I enter Canada?
First things first, your dependents cannot land without you the primary applicant. You also need to land before expiration of your medical and the visa stamped on your passport, whichever is earlier.
Advise to consider: take leave even as short as a week or two, land with your family, complete all documentation and settle them then you can go back to Naija to tidy up your projects. This is called short landing.
PR once gotten, which is after you have landed is valid for 5 years, you are required to be in the country for a total of 730 days within the 5 year period to maintain your PR status - these must not be continous but MUST be within the 5 year period.

No he hasn't started talking yet, but he continues to grow and develop normal with no signs of disability or deformity - so we are consoled by that and have given him all the time and love he needs to learn to speak/language on his own pace.

Just like us, be hopeful that yours will speak too, at his/her own time. Thanks
I know this is an old thread but from my observations, despite advise given to have your child medically checked, you have not responded to any of those as to whether you've sought such interventions, it is okay to be positive that children develop differently, however what harm could medically checking out the child do? Won't you rather he is given the all clear medically and you know it is just a waiting game for when he is ready to talk? Your initial post was made when the child was 2, if he is almost 4 years old and the same issue persists, I will suggest you conduct all checks (his hearing, his tongue and even other mental development checks). Has he started school yet or his siblings are still the only children he interacts with?
FamilyRe: My 3 Year Old Isn't Catching Up! by nat138: 2:54am On Feb 02, 2022
What class is your daughter in currently? I am asking because some schools go overboard and place kids wrongly. I am hoping she is in reception or playgroup or whatever they call the class (or two classes) before Nur 1. That child should actually be in a class where she is singing nursery rymes, learning through play, eating and sleeping. The most activity she should be doing is colouring. What she is writing?

You suggested montessori, I'm personally biased towards the montessori curriculum (I've seen the wonders of a properly taught montessori curriculum), so if you have identified a good montessori school (Please not just in name but where the curriculum is actually taught), by all means take her there.

Overall, I think you should change your child's school (or at least change her class, if the school has another arm of her class and you want to leave her in the same school, but bear it in mind that the current teacher would have whispered to other teachers as well). The worst thing that can happen to any child is when a teacher starts becoming disgruntled or frustrated with their progress or lack of it.

Poor 3 year old baby! Please buy her plenty age appropriate nursery rymes and related learning DVDs, also download fun educational (colouring, shapes, letters, numbers etc) and age appropriate apps on her ipad that will keep her engaged. But also ensure this is balanced with other social activities as well - outside play if possible etc, let it not be just strictly learning.

Our educational system as is currently structured is very flawed and parents need to take charge and advocate for their children, a 3 year old isn't preparing for common entrance or jamb, what is all these mental stress and gymnastics to the point of extra lesson! For what?
If you're looking to change her school, I'm sure if you drop your location, people will be willing to make recommendations especially for the montessori consideration.

There is no limitation to what you can do or become. Switching careers is a constant thing, start your job as proposed and apply for the HR course (consider one with a coop option) to get you a foot into the sector. You may not be required to write a personal statement justifying the change (depending on the school and the level of study - Masters or Graduate cert). The sky is your playing field.

Please I have an urgent question to ask concerning my sisters traveling to Canada for her studies in Canada in which she has gotten her visa and booked her flight for departure this week.

The question now is, her school is to resume by April/may this year 2022, she had written her Canadian school severally for them to adjust her resumption date to January or February but she didn't get any reply from them. She has gotten a Canadian visa since last year 2021 December.

Now, can anything affect her flight ticked she purchased from traveling knowing fully well that her school resumption time is April/may?

Please I need someone or persons with experience to clarify me on this situation, to avoid issues?
You can seek opinions or advise on the Canadian students thread and the IRCC website as well. But I think it is generally advisable to land one month to resumption. There may be issues at point of entry if she comes in now, as she has over two months before commencement of her course in April.

Hi all,
Just wanted to put it out here that people especially new comers be very careful with job search and always research every organization that contacts you for credibility even if they look very credible. There is an ongoing scam by a staged group called Steag-GmbH (Steag-GmbH group is actually a legitimate German Coy), however someone will send a text message to you informing you they got your details from www.indeed.com and they need to interview you immediately for a customer service rep role and you should add a contact on zoom for the interview process and training. After which the contact interviews you, these process lasts from over 45 mins, with real interview type questions (the red flag however is that the interview is not done via zoom video but chat/IM on zoom). After the rounds of questions, you are requested to stay online for a decision to be made on your responses, they go through the process of informing you have performed well and have been employed and list all benefits, however your employment contract and other documentation will be emailed to you. This is where the interesting bit starts;
With no signed contract or any legitimate thing to show, the interviewer goes on to tell you they need to send you a check/direct debit to facilitate procurement of your work tools (computer, printer/scanner, time tracker and other hardware) from their accredited retailers in the USA which will come branded as the HQ of the company is based in Germany therefore you have to facilitate procurement process by yourself. If you opt for check, they request your full address to send the check and inform this will be delivered via UPS/DHL courier, they will not deliver to PO Boxes but require your full address. Or they may ask if you want the check to be emailed to you, which you will use your mobile banking app to scan and clear the payment into your bank account.
The problem with this however, once this so called check is cleared (most times it may not clear with the banks, but since it is a game of numbers a few actually do go through), you account is debited of the check amount (which could be upward of $3,000, if you do not have the cash in to this amount, your overdraft is affected or any line of credit attached to your account). The transaction is not traceable and unfortunately, the banks can not do anything about this in terms of refund.
A few safety tips (my suggestions)
- Make your indeed (other job boards) profile private as much as you can, in this way not everyone tom, dick and harry has access to your personal details
- If you must follow through with any employer who cold contacts you (calls, texts) do your due diligence and research very properly
- Google search the name of any person that contacts you for a job (I will be wary if I do not find the name of contact person linking them to such an organization on linkedin)
- Google search the said organization (even if they do not have a broad online presence, at least in this age and time, they will have one entry on google. Also check vacancy sections of the organization if such job is currently advertised)
- Do not provide any personal information (SIN, bank details etc) when you have not signed a legal employment contact
- Be your brothers/sisters keepers, if you notice any fraudulent activities, say something so others do not fall prey
- If you however do go ahead with anyof this unknowingly, anything checks, direct debit etc that needs to go through you account, contact your bank immediately for advice. IF you take the checks to the bank, you will be advised accordingly
Job scams abound everywhere, do not be so desperate and get defrauded in the process. People have been blacklisted for things they had absolutely no idea about.

ladymarshall:
@Nat138 we still await your PPR story details wink
Lol @ladymarshall just saw your mention. So full details below. Forgive me in advance, I am not a good story teller.

A friend of mine told me about EE way back in 2016 but I was tied up with other activities, so decided to shelve the idea for another time. Fast forward to end of 2017, I had experienced so many set backs but I was determined to get a new lease of life and soldier on. I registered for IELTS in Dec, wrote the exam in Jan in Accra (I was moving around a lot at the time). Locked down IELTS at that first go, did my ECA with WES, it was easy breezy. Had my evaluation completed in under a month (evaluated only a foreign masters), ITA came in Mar, 18, AOR: May 21st, 2018

Then it was SILENCE! No communication apart from "how to get a job" email in June 18. I registered and attended a Welcome to Canada session in July 18. Got the 'how to get a job email' early June and since it was usually speculated then that this email usually came from London VO, I decided to lock up for the next six months been aware of how unpredictable London used to be and carry on with my life. I actually prayed against my application going to London but I suspected there was a high possibility it would end up there. When my Application passed the 6 month point, I filled a web form in Nov, 18 asking for my visa Office, but I never got a response, finally decided to order GCMS notes on 19th Dec, 18.

Tried calling IRCC a couple of times but I was never put through to an agent. On the 28th of Dec 18, I decided to call them at 8am Toronto time and was successfully put through to an agent who informed me my file was in Accra!!!! shocked shocked shocked. In fact I almost wept! If I had known, I would have kuku prayed against Accra and London. Anyway, I sent Accra an email in early Jan 2019 requesting for an update of my application, got the generic response "your application is in queue for a review". Prayers intensified o.

Received the notes on 18th Jan 19. Notes showed my file was transferred to Accra in June 18, that was the last time any thing was done on the file apart from the records of my web form request which was never responded to, phone calls made and request for the notes, nothing was amiss. Just that checks had not been started. However the notes showed my employer had been contacted and bank statement checked. In fact to say I was at a loss as to what to do is an understatement. Different scenarios just kept running in my mind; what if a decision wasn't made till my medicals expired (medicals wer due to expire April, 19)? I even asked the question on here on the process for redoing medicals. I sent Mr Goodale an email on 7th Feb 19, got response 15th Feb that they were busy and will get back to me but nothing till date.

On 8th Feb, I got an update On my CIC account for ADR(schedule A, form imm 5406, updated POF statement and Salary account statements). I had submitted my application with 5 months pay slips along with my reference letter which was noted in my GCMS notes. So getting an adr for salary account statements was a bit odd, I didn't even know how far back they wanted the statement for as no time ranges were given. At the point of this ADR I had left the job I claimed points for over a year and I had worked on the job for about 4.5years. So decided to send them salary account statements for my last one year at the org.
I gathered all docs and submitted on Feb 11th, 19.

Summary of dates;
IELTS: 20/1/2018 LRWS 8, 8.5,7.5,7
ECA completed: Feb 2018
ITA: 14/3/18, CRS 465, cut off was 456
Medicals: 25/4/18
AOR: 21/5/18
MEP: 6/6/18
CSE: raised to submit new passport Dec 2018, as passport was expiring Jan 2019
ADR: 8/2/19 (form 5406, form 5669 , updated POF and Salary account statement)
Submitted ADR: 11/2/19
Remedicals: 25/3/19. Original medicals was due to expire on 25/4/19 but decided to be proactive and do remdecials without IRCC asking for it as I did not want stories that touch. Because with just a month to medicals expiry, there was no way I will travel by thn even if PPR came in the day I did the remedicals
PPR: 3/4/19
Couriered received in Lagos: 11/4/19
COPR: 25/4/19 (just randomly checked my CIC account and noticed a counterfoil doc number, got notification from CIC on 26/4/19). Interestingly this this counterfoil was due to expire on 29/4/19, 4 days after issuance, which means the CSE I had raised to submit the medical form after the re-medicals nor the panel physician's submissions were not noted. Ah confusion set in, I did not have the slightest Idea on what to do, but the AVO whatsapp group came in handy. I was asked to write accra as well as raise a CSE and also call up the panel physician to confirm again that they sent my report. My people this was on a Thursday night, counterfoil was due to expire on Monday, I just jumped on Canadavisa forum as well just to get as much information as possible, I read of people ho were even sent expired counterfoils so decided to calm down. I quickly wrote a strongly worded email to Accra copying in Sydney and Ottawa asking for my file to be checked for my re-medicals. Meanwhile I was also hoping my passport won't be returned till this was sorted, as I would have to pay again for courier and passport transmission. Well, my passport and docs arrived on Monday (29th), see I couldn't even cry. I wondered at the speed the documents got back to me, since COPR was only issued on the 25th. Accra is full of wonders!!!

2nd PPR: 30/5/19
My CSE raised for on the 25th was responded to on 3rd May. Jokers!!!!

2nd COPR: 22/5/19. After 366 days, it ended in PRAISE!!!

Documents submitted:
-passports with stamp pages
- Employment letter in CIC format and 5 months payment slips (NOC code 4163)
- POF: 6 months bank statement, updated to 15 months by ADR
- 2 PCCs (Nigeria and UK)
- uploaded passport photo
- ADR (form 5406, form 5669, updated POF and Salary account statement)
After PPR
- Form IMM008 (though no chnage in family composition, I no like wahala o)
- passport photos from Studio 24, they already have the specifications so did not need to do any measuring permutations and combinations
- travel document
(if anyone does a re-medicals whether by reason of an ADR or being proactive, please make sure you include the medical form given to you by the panel physician, I think this was my undoing with my first document submission. Despite the fact that I had raised a CSE when it was done and the panel physician also sent their submissions, I am sure if I had included it with my docs it would have saved me a lot of time and resources)
Can't remember other things. I raised 2 LOEs which was to inform my bank do not issue letter in CIC format, which meant I submitted statements downloaded from my internet banking platform for submission for both initial application submission and ADR request

I have not fully reacted to getting COPR yet. It has been a long process. I don't even know which is more draining: waiting for PPR or those short weeks between PPR and COPR, imagine having to wait twice!

Below is my rough estimated costs on this journey so far, know the journey has not ended lol. I will put it in all different currencies I used ( rememeber I mentioned at the beginning of the journey I was literally a nomad):
IELTS: £169, TRF courier CFA 20,000
ECA: CAN$233
Nigeria PCC: 10,000NGN (oga Moshood had a field day). I was away from the country at the time so had to finger print and courier to him.
Courier cost: CFA20,000
PCC UK: £55
Medicals at IOM: 41,400NGN *2
POF: single applicant but showed funds for family of 2
RFRP: CAN$ 1,040
Passport Renewal: 25,000NGN
GCMS notes: US$15
Passport transmission + courier: 30,480 * 2
I have not even included flight fares as my city does not have a panel physician sad
Reason I have decided to include these costs is to give newbies an idea of what it entails. The process is not particularly cheap but it is sure worth it. At least I have secured a better future for my unborn kids by God's grace and to some extend my immediate family.

People constantly come on this thread and ask why people with good and well paying jobs are leaving, my constant thoughts are; the good jobs or money can't save you in this country if push comes to shove. I remember a friend's father died from preventive causes the afternoon of the day I submitted my application which was a compelling factor to submit it that day although I still wanted a day or two to still go over it before submitting, but the news shook me to my core. I want my kids to not have to struggle for the bare necessities of daily living and have access to the basics at least of life when it really matters, God keeping us all. So most times when people leave a job paying in high 6 figures for instance to migrant it is mostly planning for the future, giving kids more opportunities that broadens their chances in life as well as peace of mind for daily living; for instance I have been running on generator for almost 4 weeks as 'transformer don spoil', even when it was good I barely had 6 hours electricity daily, this is not living!

my final thoughts, keep busy while waiting. Don't put your life on hold, keep moving. I have changed jobs and moved cities in the course of this process, I know it is easier said than done for most people. Also be straight forward, keep your application simple. This thread is a goldmine and I tell people that if I direct them to this thread to DIY and they still require my assistance, they will have to pay for such services. This remains one of the most straight forward immigrant processes i have seen so far.
