OP are you still on this issue since March? Girl like LoveAmaka said, you need to mingle more with other people despite your 'busy' schedule and avoid going to his place whenever the opportunity arises. Because your words and actions ain't matching up. You do not want to be more than friends with him, avoid putting yourself in situations that will suggest otherwise.
Also try and get him hitched since he can not do it himself grin

Hi Op,
Just to bring another dimension to this. Since you are the oldest sibbling, I dont think you have much of a choice about where your sibblings will stay but with you. The youngest two are too young to stay on their own anyways.

Your 22 year old brother however has to take the bull by the horn and be a responsible adult. At least your father left you people a house. He has to be responsible enough to stay on his own.
The other dimension i want to bring to this is, how big is you people's family house and is it possible to rent it out so that that can be an extra source of income, which can assist your husband in taking care of your sibblings? If the house is in a university town, it will make sense to rent out the rooms individually and in that case you 22 year old brother can have a room to himself or if it isnt, you people can rent the whole house out and then get a self contained apartment for your brother while he is learning his trade and perfecting the art of it.

As other posters have already said, ensure your sibblings help around the houseand have the utmost respect for your hubby. It is not every man that will welcome more than one sibbling staying in his house at any given time. He has indeed done well.

All the best

Some people's ignorance is beyond cpmprehension. I normally dont comment on these kinds of topics but the ignorance displayed here is beyond ridiculous, I weep for some Nigerian youths.

Some people are so narrow minded that to them everybody whose child schools abroad is a thief, come on how much are these school fees you all are shouting about? Apart from anything else, schools like Harvard are not about money, infact most American top universities are not after money. Even with all your money, you wont get into the schools if you dont qualify intellectually so please can people stop spewing rubbish about NOI sending her kids to Harvard on stolen money.

For all we know these kids got in on various scholarships, know that most American universities will give scholarships to any student who merits it. Alot of students get scholarships yearly.
Also if you dont know the dynamics/priviledges involved in working with certain organizations, dont be quick to jump to conclusions. Organizations such as the world bank sponsor employees kids to school anywhere in the world by covering a very high percentage of fees and other costs associated with the kids schooling up to a certain age. So please all ignorant people should learn these things and talk logically.

Lastly what makes you think NOI's kids are not entitled to home fees which are far cheaper than international fees, if most people choose to argue from the point of her stealing money to send her kids abroad.

Please.lets use our heads to think most times. If you aspire for greater things, be happy for others and God will butter your own bread.

Not every parent whose kids school abroad is a thief biko. There are many ways through which students get funding for universities abroad.

It is quite annoying when people bring serious issues on here and then disappear.

OP sought for advise which she has been given and very serious questions have been asked but she is no where to provide answers to them na wa o.

As one poster said 'I wonder what people discuss during courtship these days'. You would imagine that the issue of religion will be top priority but well deed has been done already.

The Op's hubby probably didnt bother all this time because there were no kids in the picture, now with the arrival of baby Kate, it has become a worry to him as to which religion his daughter as well as subsequent children will follow. Will the kids go to the mosque with mummy on friday and then follow daddy to church on Sunday? I have a friend whose dad was a muslim and their mom christian, the father had no issue with all the kids going to church with their mom but there was a condition for the only boy among the kids, he followed his dad ti the mosque as well and had to participate in other islamic activites as well as going to church and also participating in christian activities. It had its fair share of confusion for the little boy. Well their dad finally became a christian down the line.

So am sure this is the kind of situation op's hubby is weighing. I really dont know what to advise because whatever we are going to say here, you probably heard much more while preparing for your wedding. The ball is in your court, My concern is not even about you and hubby but about the spiritual upbringing of your children.

Op it is time you and hubby go back to the drawing board and redraw the omitted bits you guys ignored while dating and chart a course forward.

SportsRe: Wimbledon 2013 by nat138: 9:30pm On Jun 26, 2013
Ha! Is someone seeing what I am seeing, see how all the big boys and girls are falling out like packs of cards, I knew we will be surprised at this tournament but I didn't anticipate it will be so soon. Make nothing happen to my Serena o, infant they should give her the cup for the women and compensate Britain and give Andy the cup for the men, lets close Wimbledon early this year. Haba! Wetin remain again?? Apart from Aga, Li Na or even Sloane who may put up a fight against Serena, I don't know who else will with Sharapova, Errani and Vikka out.

For the men, lets see what Djokovic, Ferrer,Brands, or Almagro will bring against Murray.

This is sad tho. The tournament is already getting boring.
SportsRe: Wimbledon 2013 by nat138: 9:11pm On Jun 24, 2013
I am still shocked that Nadal and Errani are out. This just makes this year's Wimbledon unpredictable. For the guys, I see some new kids on the block who are going to give everyone a run for their money; if people like Tsonga and Wawrinka will bring the the energy they had at Roland Garros, they will go very far. But let's watch and see how all this play out, I felt Djokovic was a bit disconnected in France, I hope he has sorted himself out if not he will be going out early as well, for Federrer, let's watch and see but I am truly hoping one of the other guys win this time around, however that will be possible I don't know. Darcis has started well, let's see how far he can go, for such a good player I wonder why he is 135 on the ATP ranking.
A lot of people are speculating Murray will win, well I see him going far in the tournament but for winning I can't say, though he has home advantage (if that is of any relevance).

For the ladies, I don't think there is really going to be much shift, still the top seeds roughing it up. Except someone like Serena, Azarenka or Sharapova are taken out say in the second or third rounds.
I really feel that apart from the top 5 of course excluding Errani in this case, the other ladies are not ready to wage war, it is therefore very unlikely that someone other than the top 5 will claim the title but all fingers are crossed and all hands are on deck, we may just be majorly surprised.
When all is said and done, I remain #TeamSerena. Whatever happens
For the men, I think Wawrinka is a great player, he just needs to up his game with those his powerful serves. Tsonga isn't bad too but his shakara is too much, he is always doing fine boy on the courts instead of him to concentrate fully on the game lol.

On a lighter note, abeg one of these men underwear designers should design pants specifically for Nadal, I don't think he always buys his size hence him tugging at his underwear all the time. Also abeg what is it with his nose abi he has issues with his sinuses ni?
FamilyRe: American Based Families Only. by nat138: 9:53pm On Jun 19, 2013
Hi Op
First and foremost, I have an issue with your topic, even people who are not America based can offer you very valuable advise, and I wonder how many people with these valuable advises have turned away becauase of the way your topic is captioned.
Anyways, down to the koko of the matter, I am not America based but will offer my two cents.
- You and your husband can't all go to a new country with four little kids all at once, a poster asked something very important, which I will think should be the most pertinent issue right now. What visa are you people going on? you said you all have British Citizenship, well as a Brit, you can only stay in America as a visitor for a maximum of three months with no means to work or recourse to public funds (As English people dey talk am). You yourself said, you don't know what will happen after this initial stay.
So my point is, why not hubby go to America, try out the life there and see if he can get a work permit which will cover all of you and then you and the kids go later if all works out well.
- Please just because you are the baby of the house and your brother wants you to go to America doesn't mean he will be willing to feed, house and give financial support to you, hubby and 4 kids for more than a month o.
My dear this is not a decision to be made hastily, if one of you even had a job offer in America already then it would have been a different ball game.
You and hubby need to plan and strategise properly. Don't take all your life's saving and squander it in a bit to relocate. Go slow and easy and in stages, if it comes to that.
And like someone rightly pointed, polish up whatever skills you can do with your hands, hair, sewing, cooking etc, I wonder why you ain't even doing any of those already, even in the UK these things are money spinners especially if you are in a multicultural town/city.

Talk, discuss, talk, discuss, talk, discuss with your hubby and you guys weigh your options, there are 4 little kids involved, please don't throw them into uncertainty.

Cheers.

Hi OP
In addition to what Honey86 said, it will also help if you know the mobilization officer in your department, because if you department/school is notorious for having backlogs of students waiting to serve, it may take a while for them to re-mobilize. But if you know the mobilization office and speak with him/her, he/she will ensure to add your name in the next batch. But then if your school/department doesn't have a backlog, simply don't collect the letter and no need to speak to anyone as you will most definitely be re-mobilized for the next batch.

Someone pointed earlier that the little girl is relating with people at least two years older than her(she being 11 and in Jss3, the normal age for that class is 13), therefore she is curious to try out all she hears them discussing. You people need to give her serious sex education, no sugar coating. I am not ruling at prayers but my dear, most times there are some issues that prayer and deliverance won't work especially is they are issues that can otherwise be dealt with by us.

I wonder why the parents are rushing her schooling, I hope people realize that putting age range in schools for kids to be in certain classes at certain ages is not about the system trying to be mean, it is to take care of problems like this, this little girl should normally be in JSS1 with her age mates and they grow together. I thought schools in Nigeria have stopped giving children double promotion? What is she suppose to do with her life when she graduates from secondary at 14/15?? Go to uni!! No way!!

But on a serious note though, this kid needs sex education and loads of books that address this issue. If possible let her friend stop coming around the house, but then on the other hand you people don't follow her to school so you are oblivious of what she gets up to in school.

Abeg you people shouldn't beat or scold her too harshly o, it will only be detrimental. If possible try and find out what other activities of a sexual nature she has gotten in to.

I believe in general that there is no useless course, what ever further studies you do after a bachelors will actually determine future career prospects, that is if the career prospects are to be tied down to what is actually studied.

HealthRe: Noma - A Face Eating Disease Spreads In Nigeria by nat138: 8:59pm On Apr 09, 2013
Please people can we give a break with all the tribal bruhaha. Simply because the article said it has been reported mostly in the North doesn't mean it can't happen/ affect people elsewhere.
Afterall, the Wikipedia article on NOMA Disease lists the following as predisposing factors to the the disease;
- Malnutrition or dehydration
- Poor oral hygiene
- Poor sanitation
- Unsafe drinking water
- Proximity to unkempt livestock
- Recent illness
- Malignancy
- An immunodeficiency disorder, including AIDS
so now looking at it objectively and not from our hypocritical views, is it only in the North that we see the above mentioned factors?

Please information is free these days and you can get free information on almost every subject, so please lets avail ourselves to information and stop displaying ignorance in the name of catching fun.

HealthHypoglycaemia(low Blood Sugar) by nat138(op): 8:36pm On Apr 09, 2013
Good day house,

It will be nice to have a discussion on this topic, especially hypoglycaemia in pregnant women.
I raised this issue because a pregnant friend of mine mentioned having signs of this.
And in my curiosity, I decided to google on it,didn't know the medical name for low blood sugar is hypoglycaemia
So basically it is 'low blood sugar'. Let's forget the big name cheesy
Well the reason I brought it on here is for all of us to discuss as well as learn, especially the effects of low blood sugar in pregnant women. And ladies who have had experiences can share as well.

Many thanks.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Taking An iPad/galaxy tab To Interview, Good Or Bad idea? by nat138: 9:15pm On Apr 04, 2013
Nigerians! I hail una o.
So this is how far this technology is driving us abi?
What purpose is you tablet/mini laptop going to serve at the interview?
How many questions do you want to ask the recruiters that you can't put them all in your head and go there or at most put them on a sheet of paper.
Thank God these days, recruiters hardly even ask for hard copies of CVs as they would have already printed out the one you sent to them or if you filled an online application, they will have it printed. Though it is advisable to take along a hard copy of CVs.
Only take a laptop to an interview where you are required to do some presentation and even at that, your best bet is to save them on a hard drive and use them on the computers that will be provided.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a HR person once. He said that the reason why seemingly most qualified people interviewed for jobs don't get tje jobs is because they try too hard to impress the interviewers. Or in some cases, their outward appearance do not correspond with the job being interviewed (I don't know how to actually phrase this, but will give an example), the person said if he was interviewing somebody for a job in the charity sector, and a lady walked in all decked up in gold and diamonds, he will definitely not give her the job as it will appear that she does not take the core values of the organization seriously or she is too rich to work in such sector, not that they expected her to be poorly dressed or anything but if they for instance were to send such a lady to present/ future donors to the charity's cause, these donors may not take them seriously if she went there all decked up expensively.

So my people as much as technology is moving very fast and we are catching in on it, let us not overdo things abeg, leave your tablet/laptop at home afterall how many hours is an interview sef! And for the bros that wanted to show his prospective employer he already has a job therefore needs to send emails back and forth, I am sure you went for that interview because the prospective job had something better to offer than your current job.
PoliticsRe: FG Scraps NECO, NAPEP, Cancels UTME & Others by nat138: 7:05pm On Apr 03, 2013
Nelit: Scrapping neco/utme is not the way forward,we need more tertiary institutions in this country! A lot of students pass waec/neco/utme and even the so-called post- utme yet they are unable to gain admission just because the number of students seeking admission is much more higher than the available institutions.
Just wondering if our government have problem with providing tertiary institutions just as much as we have secondary schools...
More tertiary institutions in which country!!! Bros abeg now. We have over 100 Universities, excluding the polytheniques, Colleges of Education and all the other ones. All our schools are struggling and you are talking about more schools? What is the essence of having more tertiary institutions with no facilities, adequate staff or even adequate space? That is the least of our problems in the Educational sector.

The problem with admissions is not inadeqaute schools, the problem is CORRUPTION, nepotism and Tribalism. I remember a friend of mine (may she RIP) applied to ABU Zaria two consecutive years to study medicine. she made more than the ABU cut off in JAMB and also passed post UME on both occassions with more than average scores. ABU didn't admit here because;

- She was not from Kaduna State or the catchment area. For those who don't know, ABU as good as it is (it is my alma mata by the way) will admit limitless numbers of students (in most cases on merit) from the catchment area in a department but will only admit one student each per state (from non-catchment areas after all the post UME bruhaha) in the same department. So now on the two occasions my friend applied, though her scores were far above the average/pass mark, she wasn't the highest from her state (as a non-catchment state).

This whole catchment area, non catchment area thing is not clearly spelt out unless you are told by reliable sources how these admission processes work. So you come to a class an you see for instance: 15 students from Kaduna state, 10 from Katsina, 5 from Benue, 7 from Kano, 8 from Sokoto etc and then you see I from Abia, 1 from Cross River, 1 from Ebonyi, 1 from Rivers etc.

It is a very tricky situation. So the least of our problems is the amount of tertiary institutions we have.
PoliticsRe: FG Scraps NECO, NAPEP, Cancels UTME & Others by nat138: 6:43pm On Apr 03, 2013
I think we all need to think things through more deeply, what is the reason the government is giving for scrapping these agencies? Well not that it makes any difference whether they are scrapped or not, these new policies will only work when we have effectively dealt with the underlying problems in Nigeria.

People keep making comparisons with other countries without taking out time to understand the modes of operations of their systems. My major beef with this all situation is the fact that they are trying to liken the supervisory functions JAMB is going to undertake in the new era with UCAS. But then how many of us truly know how UCAS works? No Univesity in the UK is left with the sole responsibility of administering entrance examinations to students. So please people get your facts straight.

The process of University entrance examination is mainly conducted through A levels. Though there are slight exceptions to A levels when an applicant's age and work experiences are considered.

That is why UCAS has tariff points which are almost similar to the JAMB cut off scores for different courses in different schools. So for instance if a student were to apply for a course such as Law, the student should be looking at tariff points on the average of 300 points. These points are calculated based on final A level results which are centrally conducted by various examinations bodies. Yes at the end of the day, UCAS alongside the universities take care of ensuring students get into schools and courses of their choice as long as they have made the points and also offer alternatives when they have made lower points than those required for their preferred courses.

so please what sense does it make for the government to scrap JAMB and only give it administrative(boo/computer) functions and not powers to conduct exams. If this eventually happens, I am sorry to say that our universities will only become a jamboree. How can you leave such delicate functions only in the hands of VCs, registrars etc. As it is right now, the admission process is still not free and fair but at least am sure around 50-60% of graduates or present undergraduates can boast of getting admissions by merit. At least I can.

I will suggest that the government opens up this consultation to the public as well but well we are talking about the Nigerian government here. Where their idea of public consultation is to gather 5-10 people in Abuja and say they represent the views of over 150 million people.

If the government trully wants to adopt the British style education then do it in full measures and not half half measures. Lets have the 6 years of primary school, 5 years of secondary education and 2 years A levels. Then we will know how serious they are. This is What Oby Ezekwesili tried to push forward as education minister, but bad belle people no allow her see road pass.

Anyway me I rest my case.
