Good day everyone,
Please a quick question, will appreciate your kind advise.
I served in a Federal Ministry during NYSC, how best do I capture this employment under personal history (I am tempted to have it as internship, although I was given a job title and all) to avoid it going through the long winded process of checking up Government employment. Technically I wasn't a civil servant in the grand scheme of things, but I am a bit skeptical because anyone looking at the details will consider it government employment, going by the name of the organisation. I am not claiming points for this, just for personal history.
Many thanks

Good day,
Does it make much difference if I fill standard delivery method without tracking ($7.00) or with tracking ($85) when filling my WES registration?
You will get the soft copy of the report once completed, so there may be no need to pay the $85 for tracking. You can just use the $7 standard delivery. Your choice though.

Congratulations all on your IELTS.
Keep spirits high for those who missed it by a few points, better days ahead.
I will encourage as many people as have the patience and time to apply for remarking in the "writing", as long as they are confident they deserved more. And if you can re register, do so as soon as possible. Just wondering why the last two results have had such low marks in "writing". I think if a lot of people apply for remarking in "writing" over a period of time, the issue might be flagged up to be looked into.

Please someone help

What other utility bill/proof of address can you give when doing the UK PCC?

I use prepaid meter, I opened my bank account in school, rent agreement has my sister's name. Who else has done this?
Change the address on your account, drivers's license, National ID card, your sister can write a letter (to whom it may concern) stating that you live with her at so and so address and have it notarised for authenticity or if you have an official letter (such as school letter etc) or document with your address on it. But definitely try and change your bank address and use that and any of the above mentioned.

But are you now saying my 2 years working doesn't count??
Are you sure it's not more than 427? because even using IELTS scores of LWRS 8777 gives 448 with the information you have provided. I guess you better start gathering your docs for ECA and preparing for IELTS. 448 places you in a good place for getting iTA. And of course your two years work experience is a major factor in stimulating your scores. You are required to have at least one year experience within the last 10yrs in jobs that fall within NOC 0, A and B

. Am a silent reader. now my turn to ask gurus in d house my question. i already have my master in China in agricultural economics but just gotten master in economics in Canada. Here are my questions

1. Do i need to present it with my application that i already have my master? or i should just present my btech When you have a higher degree than Btech, why won't you use it? It will get you more points for education. Also do you mean you have completed your Masters in Canada? If yes, then you are better off using that than the Chinese one, advantage being "Education in Canada". Otherwise if you have not completed the Canadian Masters, use you Chinese Masters
2. Can i apply with my family or i should apply first, then file for family wen i get there. You are the only one who knows your personal circumstance, that decision lies with you.
3. do u pple submit previous passport with ur application? Is the previous passport going to be part of your application? Do you need to give details of it for any particular reason? Valid passport should be what is required, people can correct me if I am wrong please.
3. how many page for SOP? "Sorry not sure what SOP is"
4. should i apply in china or go back home? You can apply from anywhere in the world.
Thanks for ur advice.

Good Evening wonderful people. I'm new to this platform, I have a question to ask regarding Canadian express entry/ federal skilled workers programs. I have a two year Advanced diploma certificate in Software Engineering and a one year BSC in Business information systems and information technology from Middlesex university London. I was told WES equates an Advanced diploma to a 3 year program and a BSC to a 4 year program, can I claim two or more certificate under education?
Use the Degree Equivalency Tool on the WES website to check what your degrees will be equivalent to in Canada, if they are rated as your have said then that should be two or more certificates I guess

If you look at previous draws, you will notice that Nov and Jan had three weeks draws instead of two. Reason best known to IRCC, might be that not enough people met their scores (this is speculation on my part). So I am guessing, no draws this week till next week (14th). Me sef dey await ITA

I have been following this thread for a while now and so far i haven't seen any refusals for express entry.
Please elders in the house that have been following the thread before part 3 have there been any case of refusal in previous parts?
I am not an elder here by any chance grin, I haven't seen as well, just one case where there was a refusal but the decision was appealed or so and it was reversed.
I think this process is really straight forward, like few people have said it is one of the most straight forward immigration processes I have seen. A process where more than 80% of prospects go through on their own without the need for agents or representatives is easy I will say. As long as all the procedures and guidelines are followed to the latter, you should be fine.

In addition to the suggestions already made, let me add my #2cents too.
I am a bit familiar with the graduate program formalities in Canada and i can tell you that you stand a better chance getting accepted to a PhD as a PR there. The process usually starts with you identifying potential supervisors in your university of choice and contacting them to explain how your work aligns with them and why you are qualified to be admitted to the graduate program (MSc./PhD.). This is usually the hardest stage because you need to show you know the research interests of the professor and that you are motivated. From personal experience, these professors prefer PR or citizens because they cost less in terms of funding compared to foreign students. My point with all of this is that you shouldn't think your chances of gaining admission to a Canadian university are slim. In fact, the opposite is true, especially if you have some publications (which I assume you do, as an MPhil.).
However, since you do not have physical evidence of PR yet, you have nothing to lose and all to gain by accepting the PhD admission you have at hand. Then when the PR comes, you can re-evaluate your options.
If I were you, this is exactly what I would do. I hope this helps.

Regards.
Thank you for this your comment @thekingskiddy. I find it appalling how most of us are very quick to bash our educational system at the slightest opportunity with flimsy comments like "the degrees from Nigeria are useless" blah blah. Was this not the foundation most of us had? Am I implying things are not bad? far from it, things are bad and we could do way better as a country but we should never forget this is our foundation upon which we all attained all the foreign degrees we now pride in.
For the OP, I will suggest you stick with your admission, but be on the look as you have been advised for PhD opportunities in Canada, look for scholarships and all. Research you field thoroughly in Canada, identify schools, email the faculties back and forth and trust me, they are willing to help and will let you know of funding opportunities.
If a faculty picks interest in you, trust me they will go all out for you. Remember that a PhD is not just a mere additional degree, so the faculty are looking more for partnerships between themselves and prospective candidates and will sometimes go the extra mile for you. Their ratings depend on your success as well.
There is no limit to the opportunities that exist in academia, especially if you are in a field that is in demand. Know your onions in and out.
For now, while you await the PR process to be finished, start your PhD, do a soft landing once PR is finalised, that will afford you the opportunity to meet with faculty you have been corresponding with and take it from there. Don't turn down the PhD offer in Nigeria till something more concrete comes up, you may think you are doing this just to keep busy but I am struggling to believe that, if your heart and soul was not in it, I don't think PhD would have even been on your plate in the first place.

My NYSC was my first job, before that it was law school. Currently what I have is Law school, unemployed for some months (including the NYSC camp 3 months) and then my NYSC job experience.

What I want to know is if I should separate the 3 weeks from the unemployed period and state that I was in camp for NYSC.....
Personally I don't think that is necessary. My opinion though. Coming from the premise of; the most important info is your work experience not what you were doing prior to said work experience. IMO

Did you go back to your PPA to get it? What if the current principal of the school wasn't the one there when you served? I served in a very rural area without light, water and network coverage, that is why I am asking for details of how to get my reference from there.
You only know the best way to get your reference, if you need to go back then by all means do. If there is someone there you can call to do so for you, then by all means do so. But with what you have described, you might be better off going there in person to get it. Also I will advise you insist they include the 3weeks camp period as part of your time duration with the PPA. Otherwise the experience will be less than a year.

I had a few months NYSC extension and the company also retained me. So in all I worked for almost 2 years. My issue is what to put for that 3 weeks camp period because getting the company to backdate the letter to cover that period is not feasible.
Where you employed prior to the 3weeks period in question? Are you claiming points for that employment? If yes then put unemployed for the three weeks but if you are not claiming points for it, you could lump it together with the prior employment. Three weeks is just such a negligible time.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 3 by nat138: 12:43pm On Mar 05, 2018
Ethelia:
Lol, mine doesn't include the camp period which is why I'm bothered.
Ah in that case, you might need to exclude the 3 weeks unless it is possible for you to contact the said employer to backdate. That is so annoying, this is something employers should be doing for NYSC even without being told. If a someone served in your organisation for their entire NYSC period, I don't think three weeks should matter.
If you can't get them to backdate then you might have to forgo the three weeks. But that won't be a full year, whew!

Hello people, another quick question. Am currently waiting for my WES evaluation and my predited score is 438. I've seen online that if you've passed ACCA papers F1 to F9, they award you with an Advanced Diploma in Accounting & Business. Am currently planning to sit for my last papers (P4 and P5) in June so i should be qualifiying for this award.

With a BSc only, my score is 438, but if i instead put 2 or more certificates, my score goes to 478. Am wondering if anyone has ever evaluated ACCA with WES for only the diploma part and gotten a good answer from them.
Wow! See the massive changes in the scores (40points!). There have been discussions on this thread around ACCA evaluation, please use the search tab and search for ACCA under the travel section. Some useful information should come up.

Most NYSC reference letters I've seen usually cover the three weeks period so it will be effective eg Nov - Oct/Nov.
If the reference you've gotten covers the period, please you were not unemployed in those three weeks o. After all the govt's contract started with you once you stepped your feet in camp grin

pls am sorry if this question seems vague, i just need more understanding as regards this double degree thing, for those of us applying with Msc, does it denote that evaluating the B.sc would make it a double degree in terms of claiming more points? I only evaluated my Msc made a mistake of not sending my Bsc.
MSc is your highest qualification, no need to evaluate your BSc at least not for this purpose. Two or more degrees is awarded for eg, BSc and PGD degrees and some other combinations. I suppose the points earned are not as high as points earned for Masters degree. Please I stand to be corrected o

I am trying to setup my express entry profile but am getting this error on my education history section.

The site says "appendgrid" does not initialized

Has anyone experienced this before and how canit be resolved.

You need to select "NO" in the tab where it is asked if you were awarded a Canadian degree. Your degree was not awarded in Canada

Good day house, just to inform that I am sure UCI is now generated automatically once you submit your EE profile. Just submitted mine, got UCI as well as find a job message. Just thought to let everyone know, so I guess those profiles that had not received ITAs but got assigned UCI was not as a result of a system glitch.

Ambidextrause:
Hello Good People,

I got PUM today!!! And I wish to share my story as a testimony to God's glory and in the hopes that someone might be encouraged, inspired, and motivated. (This post may be a bit long. Sorry)

AOR was July 25, 2017

At first, my application was refused. And as I read the refusal letter with shivers down my spine, I figured the VO based his/her decision singularly on insufficient funds. I was beyond crestfallen. I could not even wish that on my enemy. It came on an afternoon and I thanked God I did not drive to work that day cos I would't know how I would have fared behind the wheels. More painful was the fact that the rejection/refusal came after 134 days of agonizing wait! I had been so expectant since I felt I had satisfied every requirement. Meanwhile, a spike in FOREX rates around early August 2017 had relegated my POF below the LICO by 330CAD. Can you imagine that?! undecided undecided

I bottled it up. Never opened my mouth to tell a soul. I did not want to share the heartbreak with my family and close friends who knew I was on this train. So I reached out to my e-friends on this platform, chief of whom are Blackbuddy, 40manlappy, and GlitteringStar for solace and advice. I felt the reason for refusal was flimsy -- they thought so too. I was going to appeal!

Now, up until then, it's not been a common thing to see a refusal decision reversed. But my case was going to be different as I went to God in my unspeakable pain and disappointment. I cast all the burden on him with hope and faith. As advised, I sent the first email and raised a CSE showing that I indeed satisfied the POF requirement, with updated POF attached. After 3 days, my appeal was rejected. It was so devastating but I kept my cool. While me e-friends were following-up and asking for updates, I only told them IRCC were yet to respond. I kept praying. One week passed. Two weeks. Nothing. So, I sent another email, trying to make them see my point. I was begging for mercy, as advised. Failed again.

I had given up, turning my sights on PNP as my CRS had dropped to 427 and no chance of having the draws smile on me. This was January this year. Then on one Sunday evening, Tosin, who also experienced same, reached out to me again, saying I couldn't just be quiet and be waiting or just give up. Then I heard a little voice saying I should try again. I sent another email on Monday but instead got a refund of my RPRF. Damn! I caught a cold that night. Managed to get home. Struggled through the week. Then God provoked me himself - a colleague of mine, who applied after me, got PPR. We congratulated him but I was very sad deep inside. Mine was coming, I shrugged. That night, I drafted another email - this time stating my utter displeasure and showing the unfairness in the refusal decision - and I sent it directly to the minister! I remember I said a silent prayer before clicking the send button: Lord, don't let this one return the way others did.

The next day, I saw a notification, my application had been reopened. I was asked to pay the 490CAD RPRF. I returned the money they had earlier rejected back to them. 3 days later, I got PPR! Now happening so fast I could barely remember the pains I had felt a month ago. I was overjoyed and broke the news to my family and friends - they did not know the underlying story, did not need to. The devil is a liar!!! grin grin grin

AOR to PPR = 184 days

I want to appreciate the selfless efforts of everyone on this platform. And to those of us expecting one thing or the other on this Canadian journey, God will make it all end in praise. Thank you all! God bless!!!

And Wura27 should be ready to add me to that WhatsApp group. grin grin grin grin
Major congratulations. It has indeed ended in praise

you are good to go then, this week's cut off mark was 442 (and will go lower in further draws it is assumed), so that is cutting very close to your stimulated score. However check that you occupation falls within NOC 0, A or B. Also study and max out IELTS to keep the high score
