saddor:
A friend of mine want to apply for uk student visa last yr december/january admission, he has all the documents from sch and didnt apply for one reason or the other, can he still use those offer letters etc for september admisssion, i need your reply guyz,
thanks,
@ Saddor,
Your friend cannot use those same documents for the visa application, did your friend contact the school when he wasn't able to start in January? if he did, all he has to do now is to let the school know he is ready to start the programme in Sept, the school will send him another admission letter and a CAS number, because am sure when he applied earlier, it was a visa letter the school sent to him. They system is changed now and he therefore cannot use that visa letter, he has to get a CAS number from the school. Let him get in touch with the school immediately so they can sort all these out, it does not take long for a CAS number to be issued to him. Hope this helps, but you can always ask for more clarifications.
Cheers!

FamilyRe: Being The First Child In Your Family by nat138: 1:58am On Jun 02, 2010
Well being a first child has its ups and downs, am a first child, won't say I have completely enjoyed it all along but I guess given the type of sibblings I have, thank God am an older sister if not ehn they for carry my eyes see shege.
But one outstanding thing with being a first child is all the responsibilities and expectations that are upon you, in my famil not financial wise but in terms of behaviour, conduct, setting examples, spirituality and all, is good I am not complaining o but some times all the expectations tend to wear one out.
Then I don't know if it is just e that have noticed but I think most first child tend to be choleric, I can gladly say a 60% choleric. i guess it gives me what it takes to be in charge.
BusinessRe: Uk Charity Planning On Setting Up In Nigeria - Advice Needed! by nat138: 1:41am On Jun 02, 2010
Hi,
Well guess all have been said already about the setting up, where do you intend to set it up? in Lagos? Well let me know cos if it is in Abuja, I could give you a contact of someone in CAC who will do it for you. It doesn't take much time. But ensure you do everything appropriately, do not get into shady deals with people. Also there is a wide range of NGOs that the charity could partner with. Then finally, you will be surprised to know that there are lots of youths who are willing to volunteer.
All the best in setting up.

I laugh in my language o, so this man is still walking about as a free man when he should probably be roasting in his village or one of those God forsaken islands in southern Africa, kai! people are so shameless, so he still has the guts to come up on the pages of news paper to open his wide mouth and talk, anyway sha I can see he has started his lobbying very early, well if he succeeds, maybe Uncle Joe may just make him CJF, God forbid bad thing o.
Aondoakaa, please  go and rest. Use the money you were paid/stole when you were in that Turai cabal to at least dig a borehole in your village.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Msugh tyo cheii, ne ba nena?
I am glad there is a forum like this on nairaland, so good to know
one's people are represented. Have gone through all the posts and there
are good, amazing and truthful ones as well as some misinformed and misguided ones
as well, but I guess every ethnic group in Nigeria has a particular kind of stereotype
attached to it so is not anything new. Meanwhile TIV people lets continue to mark our marks
in our own little ways. Kai, I miss genge so much, though am not a fan of draw soup, also I miss nune stew.
Hope you people know the nune stew that the nune is not grinded?
Hope we catch more fun on this thread.

FoodRe: Mamas Over 35 What Was Used To Make Food Taste Before Maggi Came by nat138: 11:36am On May 31, 2010
@ Jovi,
Before using Iru is advisable to blend it smooth because if you donot blend it, it appears in the soup just the way it looks when you buy it from the market and that is not appealing to most people. Well for the colour variations, I just use anyone available, I guess it has different colours depending on where it is processed because I know my people use the darker one why most Igbos use the lighter one but then I guess the colour variation is not an issue.
FoodRe: Mamas Over 35 What Was Used To Make Food Taste Before Maggi Came by nat138: 3:27pm On May 30, 2010
@ SLIGHT
Well that is cos most en don't like the local spices
where I come from it is believed that any soup that does not have iru or dawadawa
in it is lacking a vital ingredient and till date in my house, we put Iru in every soup
even the ones that are not from my place like edikankong and it actually comes out nice.

@ Awaitingdoc,
So sorry but can't give you my no, whatever questions you have just write in on the forum and you will get replies.
As for the post UME, it depends on what subjects you wrote in jamb as well as the course you applied for. I guess chemistry, physics/maths, biology and english are the subjects for science students.

WOLE,
Just study very hard for your post UME cos even with ur high marks if u do babdly in post UME, there will be no admission for you cos the course u applied for is a very competitive one.

Wishing u guys all the best.

Baba Ibada,
Well since all your documents are laminated, then there is nothing you can do about that, u just ve to take them like that because you can't risk trying to remove the laminatiion, the documents will tear.

only use the documents stated in your cas letter because it was based on that that the admission was given.

Hi all,
If you applied to ABU to study medicine and your score is above 250, you will definately be called to do the post ume if they are still doing that this year, I graduated from ABU last year and as of last year, the cut off for sciences to partake in post UME was 160, though I don't know if the have raised the cut offs but even if it has been raised, it can't be more than 200. But the truth of the matter is for medicine, you should be looking at scoring above 70 in the post UME because that is the basic yardstick they use, and if people pass the post UME too much, they combine the jamb scores and post UME scores, at least they did that last year.
So just try and do all your best in the post UME especially if you are not from the catchment area.
All the best in your pursuit.

@ justwise,Pls I need some clarification on Laminated Certicificate, is it applicabe to Birth Certificate alone or other certificates especially Degree and O level Certificate? Secondly, my brother is the one to deposit the money I need for my studies into my account but due to the fact that he dosnot like moving huge some of money about, he has been transferring the money online from his acct to mine but based on his bank online system he can only transfer 400k per day with a maximum of 200k at a go. Do u think this will not raise any question or suspicion? Lastly, do I need to show my Birth certficate eventhough I'm not being sponsored by my parents. Waiting to read from u. God Bless
1=BHC has issues with any laminated document, so avoid submitting laminated document.

2=Moving huge sum of money within a short period of time is not a good idea, its always good to move sensibly, why not withdraw the money and pay it into your account gradually? You can pay it in every 2weeks or 3weeks.

3=Your sponsor must share the same family name with you, your brother should given you sponsor letter + evidence of his source of income. That will convince the BHC that he is capable of sponsoring you throughout your studies in the UK. Having the whole money is not enough cos chance are that money could be withdrawn as soon as the visa is issued.

[size=8pt][size=8pt]
@ Baba Ibada,
Aside the submission of laminated documents, make sure u make photocopies of all your documents and submit the photocopies NOT originals unless you are asked specifically by the person you meet the day u go to the visa centre, this is because they usually don't return the documents you give them, but carry your originals along and they will compare with the photocopies but unless otherwise asked, don't submit your originals.
All the best in your pursuit.

FamilyRe: Urgent by nat138: 1:49am On May 30, 2010
[b][size=8pt]HI Poster,
First before I start, pls when next you are posting, you will do everybody the good of writing your main post in lower case letters. It is usually very uncomfortable reading a post in capital letters.
To your question, since the money is in an account that has your name, I think that should be fine because the visa rules state that the money should be either in an account with your name or your parents name ( and if it is in your parents name, there should be evidence to show like birth certificate). I don't think the embassy is bothered about the source of money that is already in your account, what they are concerned about is that you have the adequate finances to cover your fees and maintenance but nevertheless, you can still hold unto a letter from your uncle but don't give at the embassy until they request for it, so just print out your bank statement, have it signed by the bank and take it to the embassy when you apply for your visa.
When do you intend to start your studies? If it is this september, you should start applying for your visa towards the end of july or early august so that there will be no delays because if you apply for it very close to when you are to resume school, you may run into problems, bottom line to be on a safe side, apply like one month before the commencement of your course.
Make sure you read the guidelines thoroughly and provide everything needed (student visa guidelines are getting tougher by the day, they come up with new rule everyday, so be sure you are current with these developments) with that, u can be sure to get your visa.
All the best in ur pursuit.

This is just absolute rubbish, what do these old people who constitute themselves as the northern elders assembly think of Nigerians, this old bags are just noise makers since when did it become mandatory for people to rule for 2 terms since they say they are supposed to have 8 years to rule. Please and Please some one should give these noise makers a copy of our constitution (if it has already been changed secretly to suit their purposes) as well as a copy of the human rights declaration article. Why are they wagging their tongues between their teeth, let everyone who deems his/herself fit come out and contest and let the electorates be left with the decision to make as to whether the north have 8 years or 20 years. Nonsense,
NYSCRe: Is There An Nysc Batch C 2010? by nat138: 10:49am On May 24, 2010
[size=8pt][b]I guess there is definately a batch C this year and maybe there isn't much publicity about it because is relatively new, it was introduced as a means of reducing the number of graduates that wait to go on the scheme on a yearly basis and it has been effective so far.
Since ur aunt stays in abuja, let her go to NYSC office, I think is in maitama and find out for u as well as the procedures.
Since ur last day on ur job is in July, U can come back after then and get ur paper work done before nov.
All the best.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Pictures From Inec Aptitude Test Is Abuja by nat138: 10:03pm On Apr 27, 2010
No offence, but the 'unemployed' folks in the pictures look well-fed, well-dressed, and well-groomed. Cell phones too.

Baba 70's (Fela's) "Suffering and smiling" comes to mind

well to the person who posted the above comment, forget the fact that the folks look well dressed, fed and groomed. the truth of the matter is that most of the unemployed youths still depend on the parents and loved ones to keep body and soul together which ought not to be so. Whether the people at the venue were seeking for upgrade or are unemployed is not the case here, it is just terrible that we live in the kind of society we live in, where education is emphasized but there is no employment.
