Students of the Department of Creative Arts, University of Lagos (UNILAG), yesterday protested “sexual harassment by their lecturers”. They urged the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raheem Bello, to investigate the allegation and bring the culprits to book. About 100 students, dressed in white t-shirts, sang anti-lecturer songs. They carried placards with various inscriptions, such as: “Must we sleep with them to pass exam?”; “Is illicit affair part of the curriculum?”; “We say no to harassment” and “The authorities must call our lecturers to order”, among others. Some of the students, who spoke with The Nation, said female students were often harassed by certain lecturers. They threatened to disclose the identities of the lecturers, if a panel is not set up by the management to look into their complaints. They alleged that some lecturers were fond of inviting female students to their offices to harass them, adding that many students were suffering in silence. The protesters said some female students have fallen victims because of the fear of being failed by such lecturers. A male student said: “The fact that we are openly protesting shows that all is not well here. Some of our lecturers have descended so low to threaten female students with failure, if they refuse to sleep with them. We have evidence and we are ready to tender them before a panel set up by the university. Our trust and confidence in these lecturers have been betrayed.” The student said while some lecturers are father-figures, role models and mentors to them, there are randy ones who are bringing tertiary teaching into disrepute. He said: “Really, some of our lecturers are good and we relate with them very well, but we have a few who are always eager for illicit affairs by force. These are the bad eggs we are protesting against.” http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/unilag-students-protest-sexual-harassment/ |
I think when people are being praised for a good blog and write-ups, it gets into their heads and they begin to misbehave expecting the elderly to call them elder brother....lol and also begin to make statements out of thought. The man who was criticised by many but still stood his ground on what he believes, is being talked down by one small boy yet to get to Gani's Age. Gani who was always ready to face the government irrespective of who is in power, he pursued this course even with His last breath while speaking on bad governance. This small boy should just keep quiet and stop rubbishing what this man who fought for the masses stood for, even doing this with his last blood. In Gani's word 'Stand for what you believe in even if you are standing alone' paraphrased........ Gani - a TRUE HERO |
I think it will be right for JAMB to come out in the open and say the exam was full of malpractices and for that reason it had been cancelled. They claim they have several questions and I think now is the time to prove their point or else I'll see them as just profit conscious and not bothered about quality system. |
Being a Virgin is the best gift a lady can give to her husband. In fact to be honest with you all, in case there is any delay of any sort (i mean pregnancy), the husband will be confident enough to say he knows it is only a delay from God and he won't think otherwise. The husband can go to any length to trust his wife but if it were to be the other way second thought comes in no matter the existing bond. N.B: I'm referring to genuine husband. |
I think Mr. Ari had no explanation whatsoever to give as to the cancellation of the Exam results, and therefore resorted to Exam Malpractice, an Exam written over four years ago. Will he say it took the body four year to uncover exam malpractices? Will he say other cancellation of centres' result prior to official release of WAEC result didn't follow due process? Will he say they had to take their time in order to ascertain these malpractices? The body as a whole, including the Fed. Min. of Education needs to be taken to court, as they keep on toiling with the lives and future of the youth. We bear the poor standard of Education, we bear the frequent strike in the academic system, we do not enjoy facilities that should aid smooth eduction and study, we bear all sort of thing just because we have nowhere to go and now, these students have to face this, some of them are even on the verge of completing their tertiary education, after these years only to receive a shocking information. Please the body and the Ministry need to be sued. Just this morning I read on the the Nation newspaper that those who will be writing the UTME are now faced with challenges, as some of them will be writing the exam in the North despite residing in the south-west, and I was like what?? I really feel bad with the way they toil with the lives of the youth. SMH............... |
Please what's your take on this news, as I'm like is it intended to control the psyche of the people towards 2015 in favour of APC. Below is the news: Breaking News – APC Wins 2015 Election With Landslide Like an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC), Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress, secured a landslide victory in the just concluded 2015 presidential and gubernatorial elections, over its arch-rival and incumbent party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Results made available to journalists by the country’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), showed that the APC trounced the PDP in almost every state of the Federation, and claimed the presidency, in an election marred in some parts of the country by violence, perhaps as a result of the super-charged atmosphere in the country before the general elections. But the victory claimed by the APC did not come on a platter. Political pundits say the groundwork started much earlier, and that key players within the alliance had to make sacrifices they had never envisaged. It seemed the political elites in Nigeria, at least those under the platform of the APC, finally came to the realization that the prebendal politics that impoverishes the majority, which they had put into effect since the return of civilian government in 1999, had hit a cul-de-sac. Nigerians saw a new paradigm, devoid of the lies they had been told by political elites for many years. Indeed, the new APC is a mish-mash of different politicians of different hue and persuasions, but perhaps the necessity of forming a formidable opposition to the behemoth PDP, kept the APC on track from day one. Many believe that the first masterstroke was in the appointment since 2013, from among the ranks of the APC, of Shadow Ministers, who benchmarked the PDP on policy issues and made known their alternative positions, as is being done in the UK. This was a novel idea in Nigeria, but it gave the APC the needed structure, which was something the PDP claimed to be its sole advantage over the rest of Nigeria’s political parties. The PDP itself was not helped by its many internal wrangling and jostle for positions, and the many defections into the APC from within its ranks, in the buildup to the general elections. The idea of having shadow ministers, many say, had kept the APC party focused on the future, critical of the present, focused on solutions and not mere criticisms, given it a much-needed bureaucratic structure, kept its vibrant members very busy, and given Nigerians hope of a better tomorrow. But perhaps the straw that broke the camel’s back was the selection of its flag bearers. In the beginning, the main contenders were the incorruptible Muhammadu Buhari, who had been a military ruler in the late 1980s. Also very powerful was Senator Tinubu, ex-governor of Nigeria’s commercial capital and business hub, Lagos State. But it was soon evident after forming the grand alliance, that there had come, a need to allow some of the young turks to take the fight to the incumbent party. Notable among the rare gems were Governors Fashola and Okorocha of Lagos and Imo State respectively. These two were among the best orators, they were futuristic young men who saw ahead of the pack, and who could communicate their leadership imperatives to the teeming population. It was a great day for the party, and perhaps the nation, when the duo of Tinubu and Buhari, decided to step aside for these young men to prove their mettle. As a major political gambit, the APC ‘zoned’ its Presidential ticket to the ‘East’. In comes Mr Rochas Okorocha, maverick politician, a great mobiliser of people, articulate, and a bridge-builder, who had earlier contested for a presidential seat, many years ago under the now defeated PDP. Okorocha had for many years engaged in philanthropy across the country and this came in handy for his political ambition. He is said to have sponsored over 10,000 Nigerian students through university education and many of these became his grassroots mobilisers. Fashola was paired with Okorocha as an able and strong Vice President in order for him to replicate the discipline, focus, revenue-drive, and governmental responsibility that he brought to bear in the all-important Lagos State in his eight years of governorship. Still living under the shadow of its own ‘rotational presidency’ Frankenstein, the ruling PDP had no answer to this move! Some party big wigs from northern Nigeria wanted the incumbent president to make way for their ‘turn’, but President Jonathan’s core supporters would have none of that! Okorocha, great speaker, showman and maverick politician, a man ‘with a large heart’ according to many, being from the East of Nigeria, was able to deliver the votes of people from his region, who saw this as an opportunity for one of theirs to symbolically occupy Nigeria’s highest office. People believe the Christian/Muslim pairing, and the choice of an Igbo person, is very emotional and critical at this point of Nigeria’s history. The PDP fielded the former President Jonathan, who ‘by right’, decided to contest in order to ‘complete the projects that he started’. But Nigerians wanted change, and needed to see a new face, after four harrowing years of terrorism, and a never-before-seen level of corruption in the polity, among other societal issues like armed robbery and kidnapping. The APC has promised that poverty reduction will be a key concern, not mere wealth creation which benefits very few citizens in the country. It appears the APC has among its ranks, realistic economists, who are not interested in merely infusing foreign capital into the financial markets and off-the-shelf policies into the economy, or taking the country into another debt trap like the government it displaced. Nigeria’s debt has however become another albatross in the two final years of the PDP and should be of major concern to the new team at the helms. The choice of Fashola as a Vice President, supported by his mentor, the consummate Bola Tinubu, ensured that a landslide victory was secured from the Western States, where they already had a stronghold. In the north, the sacrifice made by General Buhari, was equally sold to the millions of citizens, who naturally believe ‘Maigaskiya’ (the teller of truth), as he is known over there. After four years of the northern economy being totally destroyed and thousands of its people dead as a result of the dreaded Boko Haram – and many times by the equally dreaded JTF – voters in the northern part of Nigeria were ready to vote anything else but PDP. Millions regretted the politics they were made to play by their right-wing leaders in 2011, when they voted, as it now appears, against their own enlightened self interests. Buhari was able to convince them that he is in full support of the unique presidential pair of Okorocha/Fashola. PDP won a few states in the Delta region of the country (where the ex-president is from), and some reactionary states in the North Central. Nigerians are settling down to the news of the victory, and are hopeful of a new rhetoric from their leaders. The APC was smartly positioned as a party of unity as a result of its broad strategy and posture, leading to the elections. Nigerians hope to leapfrog in the next few months, and surmount their many developmental challenges under the leadership of the two able ‘young’ men, supported by the fathers of the nation. Many Nigerians hope President Okorocha will provide the much required rhetoric, mobilization and motivation to the teeming millions, while VP Fashola will be the ‘techie’ guy on ground, who they believe is ready to get his hand soiled while providing the needed direction for the innovations and technological development that the country so direly requires. It seems to be a new day in Africa’s largest country… Maybe it could actually fulfill its potentials going forward. source: http://news.naij.com/25262.html |
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto thee (Matthew 6:33) and lately it's been - that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformable unto death (Philippians 3:10) The verses just reminds me that there is more to my existence. More of Him I need to know and will continually know, if I can only look up with my heart. |
The Lord knows those who are His', and those who are His' know Him. This issue has become worrisome day by day, where the truth isn't spoken any longer but how wealth is to be increased not considering the Salvation of the individual. It has even gotten to the stage of more prayers been given by Pastor to a better donor. Paul told Timothy - that which you have heard of me amongst many witness, pass it on to faithful men, meaning don't corrupt my message, let it be on the truth you heard from me, and as you pass it on to other like I did with you ensure it gets to the person of right heart, who will not dilute the message but say it the way it is. Where are Salvation messages, Soul-winnings, undiluted word of truth and being a standard? My prayer is may God help the church. |
These courses are way apart reason is Building Technology has to do with construction of Buildings and is presently being replaced by Civil Engineers in the Nigeria of today. Mechatronics on the other hand is a combination of Mechanical and Electronics, and to me sounds nice as its gives you more opportunity to go into mechanical or electronics as a specialty but then again it will be tasking as it will demand an in-depth knowledge of Physics (Mechanics, Electricity and machines). The choice is yours. As they are not related in any way, so you need to ask yourself which you'll love to go for. |
I smell lies around this post and I will suggest we critically look at this post. Spent 8 years in school and will spend an extra 2 years if he does not comply and still graduated with a first class. LIES............... This is just another way of tarnishing the image of the school. SMH...... Nigerian Tertiary Institutions aren't worse to this extent. |
Dzieggau said that if it were to be the other way round that a Christian made a derogatory remark against Prophet Mohammed, the country would have by now been on fire. But “we are not going to fight for our God; we have left El-Rufai in the hands of God. Anybody who speaks ill of Jesus Christ does not go scot-free because the God in Heaven knows how to deal with him.” The above statement doesn't show genuine christian, he claims they won't fight for God but yet CAN decided to tongue-lash El-Rufai over the statement made which he did apologize (thereby trending the path of the Muslims). I just wonder where the stand of CAN is presently as they are more political than being true followers of Christ. CAN should go and put its house in order, declare fasting and prayers to seek the face of the Lord and get a clear Vision as they re-trace their steps back to the true calling and reason why CAN was established in the first place. Sometimes we shouldn't allow religion to make us shallow thinkers, because with the right mind and clear thought, one would get the message of El-Rufai just as Obasanjo's statement sometimes ago on Jesus Christ. In fact I must say that CAN is beginning to think like the Northerners causing harm (no offense intended. By the way I'm a Christian. |
Na wa o. I just don't know where to start from but I'll start anyway. Do we use quota system to choose players for the National Team without considering what they bring to the field? Do we consider those who would end up ruining our chances of get the cup all because different tribes were not ably represented? I am Yoruba man but will not but the idea of tribe but skill, strength and commitment should be the major factor for deciding. By the way this is not politics of should I say government that all tribe should be adequately represented in office for unity and progress. |
Una don start again o. If the guy no strengthen the defense after the Ivorians increased their attackers and dem con score, una go dey cry foul again say Keshi no get sense, he for don work on the defense. ![]() |
See life, Jonathan didn't kneel before Obasanjo this time around with claims that he did that before God..... ![]() Cheap Publicity stunt all the while. GOD DEY SHA |
In fact here in Nigeria you'll be encouraged to carry on... ![]() |
Police Arrest Student For Studying Too Much A 18-year-old student was expelled from school because he is so obsessed with studying. A British school called the police to remove a student who is so obsessed with studying and refused to leave the library. The 18-year-old student Jamie Gagliardi was expelled from Ifield Community College in southern England, after refusing to leave the library. The school accused Gagliardi, who is expected to be a student of being “obsessed” with learning after school and said they called police because the student was causing a “nuisance.” Gagliardi, who was forced to call his mother to pick him up, said, “I have been punished for wanting to do well. I am a hardworking and a dedicated student, and this could have such an impact on my future.” The student went to the library despite being banned from the premises for the day as punishment for disrupting the school principal during a meeting to request special meetings. Marilyn Evans, director of school administration, said: “He became loud and angry that he could not study after school.” Gagliardi is described as the “best student”, who wants to do well on tests, but had been “causing a nuisance and a disturbance on the property.” The school authorities added that “He is obsessed with making the revision after school.” A police spokesman confirmed that officers were called to the school to remove a “disruptive” student who refused to leave the premises, but said Gagliardi will not face charges. link: http://news.naij.com/21681.html |
A good leader must be quick in clearing his tables for new ones to come in after due consultation. He needs to ask himself how his slow decision had resulted in the improvement of our country, instead its getting worse day by day. |

I think what we should all do is try and suggest the possible solutions to our problems maybe one way or the other, someone somewhere might read and take a step in creating a change in his own might. Nigeria should be better and not the other way. |
My dad taught me Integrity with humility and also to be open to your partner. My mom taught me never to down-grade myself and also not to compare myself with any other person in the race of life. |
Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing shall be added unto you. This verse motivates me a lot. |
Fighter (I mean she doesn't give up) and if I were to use another word i'd say prayerful |
Dream is God's way of telling what lies ahead without showing us the process. HE wants us to figure that part out, as we brace ourselves for what is to come. |
Life has taught me that sometimes you need to be stubborn to the dreams you believe in, never allowing any word discourage you Life has taught me to take ones race individually not comparing yourself to another Life has taught me that in matters where you can't even explain how you could pull that great result, there is a God who is silently monitoring you and ensuring your positive result. Life has taught me never to look down on people. |
Hmm.... I really love my dad because he taught me life principles by living it. I learnt honesty, humility and Integrity from him. Would you believe that, in his place of work n department, a corrupt act was discovered and it could lead to either querry on his side or probably dismissal. Surprisingly, people stood for him that he can't be involved in it and in all honesty he wasn't involved. My dad earned people's trust. He taught me one principle in marriage and that is openness, he did not hide anything from my mother, i mean to the last details. I hope to surpass his'. |
Come to think of it, people can be so funny atimes. What will we achieve by tarnishing the image of another person, is it just to achieve our personal will? I read a thread yesterday, saying point blank that Pastor Tunde Bakare prophesied election before 2015, which I can't even find in this thread but only an emphasy on what was discussed at NASS. Only God will help us, Nigeria can only change, if we all face things squarely without any prejudice or favouritism. Our mind have been so much programmed to the person, rather than the act. Nigeria isn't getting any better, I fear for her future, unemployment rate is getting worse day by day, should I mention corruption, economic status, security, standard in our education. Atimes, I feel sorry for generation unborn, as its getting worse day by day. Nigeria has now become a Nation where we celebrate the clueless and reject the dutiful (SEC boss) if not for genuine intervention. The pride as a Nigerian is no longer there. May God help us and we also take our stand for Justice and Progress. |
it amazes me when you still hear of delay like this when all resources is supposed to be concentrated on just one state at the moment. its been agreed upon that each states should have different days for election for proper and effective monitoring of elections but with the way it is, its just something else i'm really fearful of the future of Nigeria...... |
I remeber the journey to Ikot-ekpene..... the boy who was travelling home for holiday |
I remember Mr. Sada is a farmer, he lives in sapele, he has a big farm, he grows yam, cassava.... can you see him in the picture.... |
