My advice is please read your Bibles, the word of God is the only source of truth. The second coming of our Lord and signs are clearly written there. I'm not against visions but all I'm trying to say is that you read His word in order not to be carried away by false words, anything that contradicts what was written in His word is clearly not from God. Just my two cents though. Besides all those who saw heaven and Christ on His throne, first reacted to the revelation, is it Isaiah? Is it John? |
Abeg make una enlighten me o.... which one be Abacha again. Honestly, I don't know this African salad that we are discussing on. Any help? |
Mr. Sada is a farmer he lives in sapele, he has a big farm, he grows yam, cassava and ...... Good old days.... sighs |
On the issue of speaking in tongues, men had taught self-teachings and nothing more. It is more of heresy and self-righteousness without having a source in the scripture. In 1 Corinthians 12:29-30, it therefore means speaking in tongues is not compulsory for all. Also, if you read the book of Acts, you'd realise that it was just two set of people that spoke in tongues asides the apostles - Cornelius and the people of Ephesus. In this same book, Lydia, Ethopian eunuch (preached to by Phillip) and the prison guard (to Paul and Silas) & family never spoke in tongues even after receiving the Holyspirit. Also, if we search the scriptures well, we'll realise that the Bible stated that what the disciples experienced at pentecost was based on the spirit giving them utterance. It is self teaching to belief that it's a must to speak in tongue. Another question that should be asked is what then is speaking in tongues? Is it the same as what we have this days? This will be for another day. N.B - There is nowhere in the scripture where it was stated that Praying in the Holyghost means speaking in tongues as this is just the teachings of men and it is not scriptural. |
Mine will be: 1. Wrong teachings 2. Excessive politics 3. Insincerity and envy 4. Pastor seeing himself as all knowing The above turn me off. some of these are becoming a common trend in the church if not all, I'm just waiting for the right time I hear or I'm convinced to leave my present church. Let's just say it's the Teaching that's still keeping me there. |
Of late I noticed a trend in the church and it has to do with our service to God. Our pastors are seen as the new Christ of the church. What would we say of a Fellowship president who should oversee the fellowship but left his role just to have a meeting with the pastor? What do we say of an officer in the vineyard who claims he is busy and not available, but all of a sudden when he is called by the pastor, he becomes available? What do we say of people who see the needs of the church but turn deaf ears, only for the pastor to mention it and they are all willing to help out? What do we say of God using the pastor to speak a word, only for that individual who was blessed decides to see the pastor saying your words transformed my life without the pastor correcting him/her? What do we say of people who forget to honour God in their service but choose to honour their pastor? Just of late, all you hear from people is my pastor wants me..... my pastor says.... I want to see my pastor..... and I ask where is the place of Christ? Even the pastors are not bothered on this. Naralanders what's your view about service to pastors and not God? |
I'll recommend Education and Charity. It's a CDS responsible for enlightening the masses about the importance of education, and also encouraging the less priviledge in the society while also providing them with necessary materials. The group visits schools, charity homes, remand homes etc. Most of all, it's a CDS concerned about humanity. I don't know if this CDS is everywhere but it's a good one to join. |
Put the blame on FG, they failed to fulfill their part for quite a while. |
switdil: See as she open yanshLol..... babes please take it easy, but really you got me seriously laughing especially with that part - oniranu jatijati. @Topic, Honestly, the Deputy Governor earned my respect for not supporting the norm in this industry but still, I blame those ladies who will just sell themselves cheap by allowing guys like Iyanya use them in gaining more attention. Seriously, look at the whole thing outside, x-ray eyes can see every details... Chai.... in her words awon oniranu jatijati, rederede, radarada. |
It is just stupidity..... Imagine, I saw a guy very early in the morning say around some minutes to six on dark glasses and I was like is this guy in his right senses? The worst of it all was the day, I saw a guy also put on sun glasses in church..... I think it is just the poverty mentality that has driven people to that extent, so when they have small money it gets into theit heads and they can't just control it. smh...... |
I am seeing this differently as the government should be ashamed of declaring this openly. It therefore means they support the corruption going on in the system and therefore could do little in making a change and also creating more jobs for the youths most especially. The over-age set of people still in the system, the non-chalant individuals occupying government positions, and the likes. The question is are all going to be entrepreneur? Will every skill support entrepreneurship? The government has failed in her responsibility in Job creation most especially for the future leaders of this Nation. It's a BIG shame if this could be coming from a government officer. ![]() When will Nigeria get better ![]() ![]() ? |
sкчscrαρεr™:I suggest you read the report all over again, then you'll understand that ASUU is not fighting for just their allowances but for the decay in infrastrucutres in our institution of learning. Honestly, it's so sad that this present government sees every action for justice and a better system as a politically motivated move. The University system is nothing to write home about from the facilities in the laboratories to the structures in place for learning. It's just so sad that this present day government have no plans for the sector and the youths. smh...... when will NIGERIA get better ![]() |
crosswire: You can check wikipeadia for who an atheist is.I now understand your view, but then I never in anyway passed judgement. The Pope shouldn't have taken the matter down to conscience since even in the Bible verse you quoted, Paul never in anyway encouraged the belivers that those wrong doers should follow their conscience, and the surprising thing is this - though Paul stated that God is their judge, he ended verse 13 by stating that any wicked person found should be put away from them. So, if the Bible mentioned that whosoever believes in Him (Christ) will not perish but have everlasting life, then the Bible meant it. |
Ubenedictus: please where did pope francis say atheist do not need to believe in God. If you show me where he says that then i'll know what we are discussing about. And you haven't answered my question - who is an atheist? |
Ubenedictus: can anyone show me a place in the speech where pope francis said ''you don't need to believe in God to go to heaven? My question then is who is an atheist? If you can answer that in line with John 3:16 then I'll rest my case. |
ebuka Otika: "Ecclesia Loquita est" if you think you dont like or understand what the Pope Said ...... Why Not Ask For A Good Explanation..... Most People Are Gifted In Turning Messages Passed Across Upside Down Just To Point Fingers ...While your statement may be true, also know that most people would also find everything and everymeans possible to believe what someone has said since that person is a respected figure and of a better advantage in the society. It should be noted that for the Bible to include the Berean christians in the book of Acts, it should mean something to us in this present age and time (Acts 17:11). |
crosswire: If it were "clearly" written then why did Peter say there were "difficult things" in the scripture. This is one thing I won't support you on. Who was Peter referring to? To the same like-minds like himself? To the body of christ? There were people like the Pharisee (just as of Jesus' time), who couldn't just understand why the Apostles were gaining much popularity hence resolved to deceiving people with lies by not following what is written in the scripture since they only have the word but don't understand. Also, please could you help define an Atheist (if there is anyway I'm missing something in this post) and also give me the reason why God still wanted Peter to meet Cornelius despite he giving alms and offering prayers, if he could just walk by Conscience. Also, what does John 3:16 mean and why would the Apostle write this - Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved? Jesus is THE way to the Father (John 14:6). Not your conscience, not your self believe or whatever it is you have in place of Christ. |
When I started reading the whole story, I was glad that all parties involved were dragged to court but as I continued, I saw that ASUU is the victim. This lawyer is definitely sick, he has proven to Nigerians that the University system is sick and needs healing urgently as the approach he used by excluding others and only focusing on ASUU has only proven that point. He mentioned right, and I'm like students deserve quality education and not crap. It's his likes that will still come out to claim that the present graduates are half baked, why won't they be? When things that ought to be put in place aren't made available. ASUU should fight this just course to the end as students are tired of repeated strike over the same issue. |
crosswire: i bet you are following the mind of God? Since the pope is the earthly head of the Church so catholics are also not following the mind of God. This is easy to understand since catholics know nothing about the scriptures and, of course, the Holy Spirit is not in the catholic church.I read the Bible verse you quoted and it so much emphasize the place of God, so go read it yourself again and stop lifting a portion of the Bible without reading the verses before this. Also, the mind of God is clearly written in His word so, stop taking it personal if I don't support the Pope. Besides, I never went against Catholucs as a whole, I only wasn't in support of the Pope's words. So, I choose to follow what God says in His word than follow the words of man. Man is fallible but his word guides and is right. I am not perfect but will choose His word anyday anytime. |
The Pope forgot to read the story of Cornelius. Despite Cornelius being moral, giving arms and offering prayers, God had to step-in so that he gets it right by asking him to fetch for Peter. Peter on getting to his place had to first preach the gospel, which brought about the filling of the holyspirit and then baptism. If God still needed Peter to tell Cornelius the gospel, then an Atheist is not exempted. The Pope just wants to be accepted by all and not truly following the mind of God. |
I just wonder how people treat National issues or should I even say Educational matters lightly. This man made mention of negotiating with the government and not commanding but I differ on his view as since the time they've been negotiating with the government, it had not yielded any fruit, only for us to see recurrent strike on the same matter. I think now is the time that all be tabled and treated as they need to be settled once and for all, so as to help the Educational sector of Nigeria. Day by day the standard keeps on dropping, facilities that should be available for science and technology-based courses in schools are lacking, the academic rooms are lacking while still faced with overpopulated classes, the lecturers aren't well motivated, hence they resolve in all sorts of things just to survive, from sales of handout, extortion, to extra practices or work, outside the academic environment at the expense of lecture period. It is until when education is seen as a priority that our government will get it right. When the right thing is put in place, Government can begin to make demands in eradicating poor or wrong practices in the system. For now, all I just do is to smh...... n ask the question- when will Nigeria get it right? |
If the strike ends now, expect ASUU to go on strike soonest, it's best they get their case resolved now than for them to shift grounds while the FG do not keep to the agreement. FG cannot be trusted when it involves the education sector of the country but if it were to be political matters, they are more than prepared... they are only bothered about 2015 election without considering the future generations of this country. Education sector is the driving force for a better society. |
Some groups are just too useless, trying to gain access to the National Cake. It should be the Federal Government that should be dragged to the court for not putting the right infrastructure in place for quality education to be given, they should also sue the government for non-payment of Lecturers' allowances, as this in turn affects the passion put into rendering the right services, thereby resulting to poor education. This group is just too blind, see!!! This must be settled once and for all in order to put the right thing in place. These lecturers are also human and they deserve the best, they are a major contributor to the state of our Nation, in fact they are a driving force to be reckon with. |
This might sound funny and in a way invoke some thoughts. Kindly help out with your view and thoughts on this: I have been having this funny thought since I was in primary school and it came back just some days ago, so I thought of sharing it with Nairalanders. It's about square root and its place in whole numbers and decimals with zero integer. From the whole number perspective, the square root of a whole number should reduce such to a lower number but for decimals (with zero integer), answers become larger. For example, the square root of 9 is 3, 4 is 2, 81 is 9, 100 is 10, etc. but the square root of 0.09 is 0.3, 0.64 is 0.8, 0.36 is 0.6, etc. So, mathematicians in the house what do you have to say for these differences. I'll appreciate your contributions. N.B - I am only interested in why this has to be so for decimals with zero integers. |
If I begin to drop several things about my dad you'd think he was my mother. R.I.P Dad, as you taught me the greatest of all lessons by being a true example yourself - Honesty, Integrity and open mindedness. You taught me the right step in relationship which is being open-minded and plain, mum still misses him, as he is just too exceptional. |
Nigerians reacted on Wednesday to a report alleging that President Goodluck Jonathan accused the citizens of encouraging corruption in the country. While declaring open the 54th annual conference of the Nigerian Economic Society in Abuja on Tuesday, the President had reportedly said that if Nigerians did not “reward corrupt practices” through their actions, those involved would have no need to continue. Responding to the statement on the social media, many Nigerians applauded Jonathan’s position and then, cautioned him against putting the blame for corruption entirely on them. The respondents said the President, through his inability to lead by example, had failed to provide a lasting solution to corruption. Some of those who disapproved of Jonathan’s statement said he goofed by casting the first stone. They went on to accuse him of promoting corruption by granting state pardon to a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, who had been convicted on charges of corruption. A respondent on punchng.com, Yemy, said Jonathan had demonstrated his tacit support for corrupt Nigerians by granting pardon to Alamieyeseigha. The reader said, “No doubt that President Goodluck Jonathan is spot on. However, he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. GEJ seems to me a bad advertisement of the product he wants to sell. How would you describe the pardon granted Alamieyeseigha? Is that not rewarding corruption?” A Facebook user, Prince Oyelola Timothy-Adesanya, argued that since the President inadvertently gave a pass mark to his former boss, who was indicted for corruption by a competent court, he was not morally fit to lecture other Nigerians on the need to shun corrupt individuals. “Hello Mr. President, it seems you don’t know who stands on the wheel chair of corruption. The case study is Alamieyeseigha and the public fund of Bayelsa State. Don’t forget your office gave him a pass mark for the wrong doing? Oga Jonathan, who is deceiving who?” Timothy-Adesanya said. Another respondent on nairaland.com, Batman, noted that since the President encouraged corruption through his actions, he was not in a vantage position to cry foul. Batman wrote, “He (Jonathan) encourages corruption. So what do you expect everyone under him to do? Why is he the leader? Doesn’t he know he is the number one person that should serve as an example? A body always goes where the head tells it to go. “The moment he (Jonathan) stops waving and smiling sheepishly and takes a tough stance against corruption in high places, see if the chain reaction won’t transmit to the grassroots.” But, just as Jonathan urged Nigerians to “frown on people who come up with what they are not supposed to have” with a view to checking corruption, a Facebook user, Bam Olugbenga-Odugbesan, asked, “When your mother (Eunice), a dependant for that matter, donates multimillion naira block of hostels to the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State and you applaud her without asking where she got the money from, is that not corruption?’’ Meanwhile, Jonathan was also rebuked for stating that he would not reveal the identities of those engaged in corrupt practices in both the private and public sectors citing concerns that he could be “attacked.” The statement was described by many people as the President’s own way of admitting that he is afraid of fighting corruption. They hinged their argument on the fact that since he has the state apparatus at his disposal, he should not hesitate to wield such powers rather than express the fear of being “attacked.” “Jonathan, you are the number one citizen of Nigeria and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Are you scared of some individuals and groups in the public and private sectors? “If you can’t mention their names and punish them, then you are encouraging them with a pat on the back,’’ another Nigerian, Okafor Nolly, said on Facebook. One Abiodun Johnson also noted, “He doesn’t have to name names. He could easily arrest and prosecute them. But he is afraid of being attacked! Nigeria is in trouble.’’ However, one Tony Are on punchng.com disagreed with Nolly saying, “If the President should mention names. Many of us will say he is attacking his enemies because of his 2015 ambition. Now he is saying nothing and you still call him names. Sometimes I just laugh with the way things are handled in this country. Now ASUU is seen as being wrong while FG is right. It just amazes me that when there are several complains about the Educational sector of the country being not up to standard, to which the President attested to at a point in time, and yet nothing was done, we could then turn back by swallowing our vomit for ASUU not to fight a just course. Day by day, we experience infastructural decay and our lecturers who build the minds of tomorrow are not well paid, n yet we expect nothing but the best for them, is that not magic we are expecting from them? So sad the way the country is being run. When it comes to getting private jets n bullet proof cars n all sort of things, they are treatec with great urgency. Hmmm...... which way Naija. |
I think what Pastors are after is praying the kind of prayers that people would love saying amen to. Just like a prayer I heard from a Pastor saying that, he prays that all of us will go to heaven, and I'm like what? when did God base the kingdom of Heaven on prayers and not deeds. It's so sad. |
Abegiii make dem leave matter for Mathaias, it's not today that changes had been made to our system of Education, we all know the truth that this new syatem will just be on paper and will be said officially but in implementation its something else. In this country, we hear of young minds finishing primary education as early as 8 or 9 years and by 15 - 16 years they are through with secondary education while you even find some already in the Higher institution, only for our Government to tell us at age 5 you are in pre-school and then use another 6 years, such would have been an old papa before getting into secondary school. We all know implementation is something else with our surest private school giving us KG, Nursery 1-3 (some 2), then to Pry. 1. By Primary 5, you are out of Primary school despite finishing at a young age and getting the best of education. Paper it is and will remain on paper. Implementation is far from it. |
As a patriotic Nigerian, I'll love to watch Cindy's Note anyday anytime |
Keshi is at it again.... I have been a true supporter of the Super Eagles right from the Nations Cup, even at the face of criticism by several Nigerians and also the ones I faced personally while stating that the Eagles will soar at the Nations cup but then I'm beginning to have my doubt on the way Keshi runs the team. It's becoming a 'kalo kalo' kind of selection where he just wakes up one morning to take a decision without any critical thought. Enyeama though was to be blamed for that goal but his performance in the last match against Spain proved he is still needed, I see no reason why he shouldn't be selected. Besides, those he ought to remove from his list are the ones he included which is quite painful. The likes of Ideye and several others shouldn't be called to the team. Well now I'm seeing another Keshi...... smh |
