Lets celebrate the man and not dwell on whether he is from Sapele or Bonny. It's another Nigerian success story worth celebrating and emulating.

Almost being drowned at a stream very close to my secondary school. I was in Jss1 newly admitted into boarding house less than 2 weeks when I went to the village stream for the first time. I was so excited that there was another stream because I love going to the streams. Upon arrival, I 'swum' and got into the deeper part of the stream. When I tried to emerge, to my horror and fear, I couldnt emerge. I struggled mightily to wade off, but the waves was too strong for me while I was sinking and grew tired and weak. A voice cautioned me, "If nobody rescues you, you are going to perish." My parents were in Calabar thinking their son was gradually adjusting to boarding house. Off shore, people were screaming in alarm until someone hastily jumped in and then pulled me out to safety. (This is a true life story). I still patronized the stream though I learnt my lesson and avoided the deeper parts. But I do tell you the truth that several years later on one of our normal routine, I saw a bicycle parked at the banks of the stream. Later on, one of my roommates told me that a fellow villager had drowned in that same stream, hence the explanation of the mystery of that bicycle. I sometimes cringe in terror that it could have happened to me and what a deadly blow it would have been to my parents and family members. Thank God.
LiteratureRe: Mohammed Sule- Author Of Infamous Act - Is Dead by Ndipe(m): 8:18pm On Jun 20, 2018
It wasnt a white woman that he married in that novel. I think it was an African American woman or an Ethiopian woman. And the marriage derailed when he found out that she was a divorcee. They eventually got a divorce and then he returned back to Nigeria and got a job at the very same school that his former girlfriend whom he dumped, was, I think, the headteacher. And she forgave him when he apologized. I dont remember the name of the novel.

May his soul rest in peace.

i was a great lover of paceseters, while in school we had this book mostly as companion,i wonder why the series was allowed to die just like that,
There is one i read and cant remeber the title.i think it was written by Obiagele or so,abt a 2 young loverswho were so much in love ,the man gets  a schorlarship and dumps the woman marries a white woman but thier marraige fails,he comes back to nigeria a wrecked man, gets a job in a school, where he meets his former girlfriend as the head techer, now happily married.

I need to remember this book
EducationRe: The Saddest Love Ending- The Fate Of Camara Laye, Author Of The African Child by Ndipe(m):
Camara Laye and Marie are real life husband and wife in the sequel, "A Dream of Africa." They got married in 1953. I first learnt of their union in this book, "The writings of Camara Laye" by Adele King back when I was in secondary school in Nigeria. The discovery of the book at my friend's place was surreal because I had just finished reading the "The African Child" earlier on when I stumbled upon it. That woman, Adele King, can write, I will give her A1 in that regard because she had me hooked from the beginning of his biography to meeting Marie in Conakry, to their wedding in France and then to the final page of the book when she wrote of their divorce. Man, the pleasant feeling that I had seeing the book and reading of their union just vanished at the end of the page. Please disregard the writeup that Marie being Catholic was the reason for their divorce. That wasn't the case.

From what I gathered, the deceased was married and had a job. So, could it be that he was simply an innocent victim just caught in the crossfire of these nefarious group? I highly doubt he was a student.

She's a former winner of the Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant over 30 years ago. Go and look up her pictures, she's always been light skinned. It's a matter of genetics. Her late father Chief CC Onoh was also lightskinned.
Her father was actually dark-skinned. It was her mother who was light-skinned. And she did not win the Miss Nigeria beauty contest, it was the "Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria" beauty pageant which was held in 1988.

ThinkSmarter:
another husband to be of a lady lost
Lets not jump into hasty conclusion. The man was married and had a job. I dont think he was a student. There are pictures of his traditional marriage around. He probably was an innocent victim of these nefarious organization. I remember when I was in my third year in college and I ran into cultists one night as they were sailing. I had NO clue that they were sailing and they were in groups. I walked past them safely to my friend's hostel. Now, God forbid if they had confronted me, what would I have done? People would have made this allegations that I was a cultist of an opposing faction. Look before you leap.

Meanwhile, here is a story that I posted last week on this forum about my encounter with cultists right before this tragic news occured.

FamilyRe: Sponsoring Relatives To Study Abroad by Ndipe(m):
Why do you have a problem with someone else's desire to better the lot of their own relative? Granted, you have publicly admitted that you could do it for your own child (after serious thought) but not for another person and that shows the level of selfishness and conceited you are. Seriously, I would advise you to change from this selfish mindset and instead of trying to pour sand into someone's garri, simply wish them well.

CrimeHave You Ever Ran Into Cultists "Sailing" On Campus? by Ndipe(op): 4:12am On Jun 05, 2018
My college had a tap that I used to go to fetch water. Sometimes, I would be forced to change my plans because my brother would tip me off that he heard that cults were sailing that night or thereabout, so in my best interest, would stay away from visiting campus. So, I never had an encounter with them. But I had a close shave. In my third year, I was visiting a friend in the dormitory. I took a a major thoroughfare frequented by students and came across a bunch of guys who were walking in groups. I innocently called out one of them because I recognized him in the crowd and went my way. I later on heard from people that those group of people that I walked past were cultists who were sailing that night. And I had no clue. It was God who saved me. Thank God in Jesus Name, Amen.
