News By NIGERIAPEN.COM.NGhttps://i2.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Lewis-Hamilton-1.jpg?resize=650%2C350&ssl=1Lewis Hamilton claimed his fifth drivers’ world championship on Sunday to draw level with Juan Manuel Fangio in the Formula One record books when he finished fourth behind a victorious Max Verstappen in the Mexican Grand Prix.
The 33-year-old Briton’s only remaining championship rival Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari, who needed a victory, with Hamilton outside the top seven, to keep his hopes alive, finished second.
Hamilton’s success – the third time he has taken the title without finishing on the race podium – elevated him to a supreme club alongside Fangio with only seven-time champion Michael Schumacher ahead of him.
He was adding the 2018 crown to his championship wins in 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2017.
He celebrated by executing ‘doughnut’ wheel spins for the cheering crowd before leaping out of his car and into the arms of his team.
After being congratulated by Vettel, Hamilton said: “It’s a very strange feeling, a very humbling experience. To complete this when Fangio did it as well, it’s a very surreal feeling.”
“That’s how you do it – that’s how you drive, Lewis,” said Hollywood film star Will Smith on Mercedes team radio after Hamilton took the chequered flag.
Hamilton, who started third on the grid, struggled with chronic tyre-wear after making a strong start in his Mercedes and settled for a cautious cruise to the title without a podium finish.
Verstappen, upstaged by his Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in qualifying on Saturday, came home 17.108 seconds ahead of Vettel after the luckless Australian pole-sitter retired with nine laps remaining.
READ Fayose Presents Hand Over Documents To Ekiti State Head Of Service A puff of smoke signalled an engine failure and his eighth ‘Did Not Finish’ (DNF) of the season while his 21-year-old Dutch tyro team-mate secured a repeat of his 2017 triumph, his second win this season and the fifth of his career.
Vettel’s Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen came home third ahead of Hamilton and his Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
Nico Hulkenberg was sixth for Renault ahead of Charles Leclerc of Sauber, Stoffel Vandoorne of McLaren, Marcus Ericsson in the second Sauber and Pierre Gasly of Toro Rosso.
For Ferrari, it was a first double podium success in Mexico since 1990 with Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell. See More Photos Below........ News Source: https://nigeriapen.com.ng/hamilton-wins-5th-formula-one-world-title/Lalasticlala |

Ohakwe, popularly known as Jewel Infinity, was travelling in a public bus from Port Harcourt, Rivers State to Onitsha, Anambra State when operatives of the Nigerian Army stationed at Omagwa axis of the Port Harcourt Airport Road stopped the vehicle for a routine stop-and-search and, in the process, physically assaulted her.
The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Adamu Mohammed had earlier ruled on the matter in March 2018.
Mohammed had ordered the defendants (Nigerian Army) to pay the sum of N1m to the plaintiff as compensation for infringing on her fundamental human rights.
According to PUNCH, but the Nigerian Army through its counsel filed an application to the court to set aside the judgment and resume fresh hearing.Army ordered to pay actress N1.25m for assault (Photos)
Counsel for the plaintiff, Chime Chime, in a counter-application, urged the court to dismiss the defendant’s submission.
Mohammed, however, struck out the application of the Nigerian Army, stating that it lacked merit.
The judge awarded N250,000 against the defendants in addition to N1m the security outfit was expected to pay to the victim, as well as a written apology to her to be published in at least two national dailies.

The Nigerian Army has assured Nigerians that it is working towards being self-reliant in the production of combat vehicles by the year 2025.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, gave the assurance on Saturday at the Passing Out Parade of 77 Regular recruits intake in Zaria, Kaduna State.
He explained that the development was part of steps by the military to effectively deal with insecurity in the country.
“By this breakthrough, the Nigerian Army is poised to become self-reliant in class-B combat vehicle in 2025,” Lieutenant General Buratai said.
He also commended the commandant of the depot and his team for what he described as “the uncommon research and development feat” which led to the production of five patrol vehicles. “It is gratifying to observe that Depot (Nigerian Army) has continued to evolve its training activities to actualise my vision of aiming a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional role.”
The Army chief was hopeful that the graduation of 3,880 recruits would address the manpower needs of the Nigerian Army.
He also asked the new soldiers to ensure that they are always in total allegiance to constituted authority. More To Follow Photos Below...... News Source: https://nigeriapen.com.ng/army-to-be-self-reliant-in-combat-vehicle-production-by-2025/Lalasticlala |

Crime › Khashoggi’s Murder:saudis Deny Turkish Police Permission To Search Consulate(pix by nigeriapenbase(op): 3:00pm On Oct 24, 2018 |

Turkish police this month searched the consulate twice, and the residence of the Saudi consul general, to gather evidence into what President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said was a “savage murder” of Khashoggi.
The Washington Post contributor and Riyadh critic was killed inside the Saudi consulate on October 2, which he had visited to obtain documents for his marriage to a Turkish woman.
Basing its report on the security sources, the Anadolu news agency reported that Turkish police “were denied authorisation by Saudi officials to search the well in the consulate garden”.
Turkey is conducting its own investigation into the killing but it remains unclear where the body of Khashoggi is.
Erdogan has not pointed the finger of blame at Riyadh but analysts say Ankara is using the drip-by-drip information leaked to Turkish media outlets as a tool of pressure against the Saudi leadership.
After 17 days of vehement denials, Saudi Arabia asserted Saturday that the journalist was killed in a “brawl and fist fight” inside a Saudi consulate in Istanbul –- without revealing the whereabouts of his body.
Turkish media have reported that the authorities here have audio tapes in which Khashoggi’s alleged killers tortured him by cutting his fingers off before his decapitation.
Turkish police were also hunting for the remains in an Istanbul forest.
On Tuesday, the police searched an abandoned car belonging to the Saudi consulate in an underground car park in the Sultangazi district of Istanbul.

THE world’s longest sea bridge is now Open, finally connecting Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China after nine years of construction, but critics say not many people will be able to use it.
The opening comes at a time when Beijing seeks to tighten its grip on its semi-autonomous territories.
Chinese President Xi Jinping was expected to officiate at an opening ceremony in the mainland city of Zhuhai on Tuesday morning, but details of the event have been kept secret.
The 55-kilometre crossing, which includes a snaking road bridge and underwater tunnel, links Hong Kong’s Lantau island to Zhuhai and the gambling enclave of Macau, across the waters of the Pearl River Estuary.
Its undefined
An aerial view shows a van being driven on a section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HKZM).
A section of the Bridge seen from Lantau island in Hong Kong.
It is the second major infrastructure project tying Hong Kong to mainland China to launch in a matter of weeks, after the opening of a high-speed rail link last month.
Critics say the multibillion-dollar bridge is one more way to integrate Hong Kong into China as fears grow that the city’s cherished freedoms are being eroded.
The mega bridge will open to traffic on Wednesday, a day after the ceremony. Building began in 2009 and has been dogged by delays, budget overruns, corruption prosecutions and the deaths of construction workers.
The launch ceremony was hastily announced last week by mainland authorities with Hong Kong politicians and transport companies complaining they had been left in the dark.
Supporters of the project promote it as an engineering marvel that will also boost business and cut travel time, while others see it as a politically driven and costly white elephant.
The main bridge section is considered mainland territory and Hong Kong cars and drivers travelling over it “must comply with the laws and regulations of the mainland”, according to the city’s transport department.

Hong Kong residents will only be granted a licence to cross into Zhuhai by car if they meet highly selective criteria, including holding certain mainland government positions or making major contributions to charities in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.
Most people will need to travel the bridge on private coaches and buses. Drivers of private cars will only be able to use it if they successfully apply for a special permit and the bridge won’t be served by public transport.
Hong Kong residents have criticised the bridge saying it’s a waste of tax payer funds.
And conservationists say the construction has led to falling numbers of the threatened Chinese white dolphin.
Towers above the bridge have been designed to look like dolphins, in honour of the white dolphin. The bridge’s curves are meant to resemble a snake, according to the designer.
Pro-democracy politician Eddie Chu told The Guardian the bridge was “basically redundant” after officials claimed traffic on the bridge would see about 25 per cent less traffic by 2030 because of another competing bridge.
Online commenters in Hong Kong complained about the bridge’s restricted access ahead of the launch.
Chinese security checks guest seats prior to the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
“Such a huge investment using the Hong Kong taxpayer’s money … yet basically it is not open to us at all,” said one comment on the South China Morning Post website.
Some Hong Kong media reported that the physical condition of drivers on the bridge would be monitored by cameras, including an alert sent if a driver yawns more than three times in 20 seconds.
The opening of the high-speed rail link also sparked criticism as it saw Chinese security stationed on Hong Kong soil for the first time at the city’s terminus.
Critics accused the Hong Kong government of giving away territory to an increasingly assertive Beijing. https://i2.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/33d3227a7dbfb3f96aad818353d33dda.jpg?ssl=1See Full Pictures Below; More To Follow At>>>>> NIGERIAPEN.COM.NGNews Source: https://nigeriapen.com.ng/photos-the-worlds-longest-sea-bridge-now-open/Lalasticlala |

“The patient has been suffering from mental illness for the last 10 years and had stopped taking his medication two years ago, one probable reason he started consuming inanimate objects,” Dawit told AFP after the two-and-a-half hour operation.
“I’m guessing he consumed the objects with the help of water, however, he is a lucky person that those sharp objects didn’t cut his stomach. That could have led to serious infections and even death,” he said.
The surgeon said that while he had dealt with other cases in which people with mental illness had swallowed multiple sharp objects, he had never encountered a case on this scale.
Dawit added that the patient was recovering well. https://i0.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Doctors-find-122-nails-in-a-mans-stomach.jpg?ssl=1More To Follow At>>>>> NIGERIAPEN.COM.NGNews Source: https://nigeriapen.com.ng/doctors-discover-122-nails-in-patients-stomach-in-ethiopia/Lalasticlala |

A female long-tailed macaque climbed onto the tourist’s knee first, then her friends, who were around immediately thought it was cute.
They pulled out their cameras to film the moment, when, suddenly, a male monkey humped on her and shamelessly made his move on her.

News By NIGERIAPEN.COM.NGhttps://i1.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Mohammed-Salah-Liverpool.jpg?resize=650%2C350&ssl=1Liverpool’s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Salah (C) shoots past Huddersfield Town’s German defender Christopher Schindler and Huddersfield Town’s Danish goalkeeper Jonas Lossl to score the opening goal of the English Premier League football match between Huddersfield Town and Liverpool at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield, northern England on October 20, 2018. Oli SCARFF / AFP Mohamed Salah ended a four-match goal drought for Liverpool with a sublime strike that secured a nervous 1-0 Premier League victory away to Huddersfield on Saturday.
Salah has struggled for consistency this season and was a doubt for the trip to West Yorkshire after suffering a hamstring problem while on international duty with Egypt during the week.
But in the 24th minute, he steered in Xherdan Shaqiri’s pass to score his 50th goal in English club football, ensuring Liverpool ended Saturday level on points with league leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could be pleased his players showed the strength of character required to see out a victory over a team coached by his long-time friend David Wagner, but there were only fleeting glimpses of the free-flowing attack that lit up the Premier League last season.
Then again, this was something of a mix-and-match Liverpool line-up.
Perhaps with Wednesday’s Champions League home match against Red Star Belgrade in mind, Klopp freshened up his front line, restricting Roberto Firmino to a late substitute appearance.
Sadio Mane was not risked after having surgery on a broken thumb during the week, so Daniel Sturridge made his first league start for Liverpool since last November, and midfielder Adam Lallana his first since New Year’s Day.
Genuine class Klopp had warned this match, against opponents without a home goal since April, could be a trap, and he was right to be wary. Wagner knew just how to make life difficult for the title hopefuls, setting Huddersfield up with a back three and leaving them tight on the visitors’ front trio.
It was to Liverpool’s credit that they fashioned a goal of genuine class to break down stubborn opponents midway through the first half.
Shaqiri collected Joe Gomez’s ball from the right-back position and played an excellent pass for Salah, who timed his run perfectly and found just the right angle to slide a shot past Jonas Lossl and into the far corner.
For Salah, it was a moment of relief in what has been a testing season.
But Huddersfield, in the relegation zone and without a league win so far this season, responded well and were unlucky not to have equalised by half-time.
Jonathan Hogg struck the post with a fine 25-yard drive as Liverpool failed to clear Erik Durm’s cross, while James Milner escaped a loud penalty appeal when he diverted the ball with his thigh onto his arm.
Right at the end of the first half, Alex Pritchard thought he had ended the Terriers long wait for a home goal but was rightly ruled offside as he slotted past Alisson following a Hogg header.
Huddersfield continued to threaten after half-time, with Laurent Depoitre –- seeking to end a run of one goal in 27 matches — guiding a header from Florent Hadergjonaj’s cross, which Alisson held comfortably.
Salah remained a threat when Liverpool got the ball to him, and almost added a second goal when he collected Sturridge’s diagonal ball on his chest and steered a shot just beyond the far post.
Lallana, still getting back to the pace of Premier League football after a series of injuries, came off with just over 20 minutes left to be replaced by Fabinho, making his Premier League debut after a £39 million ($51 million, 44 million euros) move from Monaco.
The visitors still had to survive a scare after that, with Steve Mounie diverting fellow substitute Isaac Mbenza’s cross over the bar on the turn as Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren both failed to clear, but Liverpool got the job done.

News By NIGERIAPEN.COM.NGhttps://i1.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Wike-speaks.jpg?resize=650%2C350&ssl=1The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has raised concerns over an alleged intimidation of the judiciary, a situation which he says must come to an end.
He said this on Saturday when a group of lawyers under the aegis of class 84 of the Nigerian Law School, visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He said, “The judiciary has been so much intimidated. It is unfortunate that the Nigerian Bar Association gave out themselves when they saw the intimidation of the judiciary, instead of them to rise and to say look, we can’t accept this. Today, it is difficult for any judge to sit that and write a judgement and say I want to write a judgement, it doesn’t matter what will be. (Because of) fear and intimidation.
“Then the security will come and tell you we saw one million Naira in your account come and explain and the judge will say, instead of this embarrassment, let me do what they want me to do”.
Speaking further, Governor Wike lamented that the time had come for Nigerians to rise and speak up against the wrongs that go on in the nation.
He also expressed fears that with the current situation of things, the 2019 elections may not hold.
The governor said, “With the way it is now, I don’t know whether there will be elections in 2019”.
He, therefore, advised that as the 2019 elections draw nearer, people shouldn’t hold gatherings just for the sake of it but rather make efforts to proffer solutions to the problems. The traders expressed their feelings in an interview on Tuesday after hoodlums harassed a girl in the market for dressing indecently, touching her body and booing her with all sorts of names.
The ruffians who clapped their hands called “Asewo”, “Oloshi” and “Olosho N50” meaning she sells her body for N50.
The traders, who spoke , said that they saw one Miss Chidinma Okonkwo, early on Tuesday while she was being harassed by some ruffians because of her indecent dressing.
A cloths trader, Mr Tunde Azeez, who believed that Chidinma dressed indecently, said he was disappointed at the rate girls dressed exposing their bodies when they go out, especially when they come into the market.
“This is the reason why there are rape incidents and some men look down on women as sexual objects. “Some of these girls dressed this way believing it to be the trending fashion with no regards to how they appear, therefore, the girl deserve what she got,’’ he said.
A food seller, Mrs Chinyere Ogbonna, said she was not happy with the way Chidinma was harassed but it was her fault and she advised young people to dress well.
“Nowadays, we see girls dressing indecently in `half made dresses` and this does not portray good morals. “My advice is that people should learn to dress decently as their appearance describes who they are, especially young girls in order to avoid harassment or even rape,’’ she said.
Miss Blessing Nwata, a shoe trader who said she was in support of Chidinma, expressed the belief that she had not dressed indecently and therefore should not be harassed.
“The girl was not dressed indecently, besides even if she was, that should not be an excuse for harassment from the ruffians,’’ she said.
Miss Chidinma who was harassed told NAN that she was not dressed indecently and complained that she and some of her friends were always harassed by the ruffians no matter how they dressed.
“It is becoming a norm. This is not the first time I would be harassed, though I have got used to it.
“I am always harassed by these ruffians no matter how I dress, besides harassment of women should be stopped; indecent dressing should not be a reason for harassing females,’’ she said.
