Luz Cuevas was at an acquaintance's child's birthday party in 2004 when she saw a girl with dark hair who looked strikingly familiar. Though it was hard to be sure because Luz' daughter had been lost at a very young age and babies change drastically as they grow, yet the little girl's dimples were unmistakable and Luz suspected it was her daughter, who she was told died in a house fire six years ago.
Luz said she had always held on to a shred of hope that her girl was alive, so she called to the child who, by then, went by the name of Aaliyah. Luz said to Aaliyah that she had bubblegum in her hair and offered to fix it for her, then quickly pulled out several strands of hair.
How a mum discovered her baby was kidnapped six years after being told she died in a house fire
According to media reports at the time, Luz picked up the trick from cop show, knowing that to prove this feeling in her gut, she would have to get a DNA sample. She took the hair for a DNA test which revealed that her instinct was right. The little girl known as Aaliyah was, in fact, her daughter, Delimar Vera.
In 1997, Luz's 10-day-old baby Delimar Vera was sleeping in the upstairs front bedroom when a fire broke out at her family's house in Philadelphia. Luz couldn't find Delimar when she ran into the room, the cot was empty and the window open. She stood there astonished, sustaining burns on her face before becoming overcome by smoke.
Remains of the infant's body were never found, and police concluded they had been incinerated in the flames. Luz said years later that she never fully believed their explanations.
Hysterical, she had screamed at the firemen that she thought her baby had been stolen, but she was told, "maybe it was my nerves".

It was later revealed that Delimar had been kidnapped by Luz's cousin by marriage to Delimar's father, Carolyn Correa, who started the fire to cover her tracks after stealing the baby.
Carolyn is believed to have taken the child to live with her in New Jersey, pretending she was her own.
She was charged with kidnapping, arson, assault, concealing the whereabouts of a child and interfering with the custody of a child. Correa was later convicted and sentenced to between nine and 30 years in prison, Fox News reports.
In 2004 Aaliyah was returned to her birth mother, who she’d never known, and renamed Delimar.
"I'm at my real home," the child told reporters when she was returned. Asked how she felt, she replied with a giggle: "Happy." See More Joyful Photos below... Romance › US Man Whose Marriage Crashed Because He Was "Too Fat For Sex" (Photos) by nigeriapenbase(op): 4:37pm On Sep 25, 2018 |
https://i0.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/sheds.png?resize=604%2C385&ssl=1A man whose marriage was destroyed because he was "too fat for sex" has lost so much weight and now looks like a different person.
Stephen Ringo weighed 29st at his heaviest after gorging on two Big Macs, two large fries, and two large cokes as well as 20 chicken nuggets every day for lunch, followed by a Domino's pizza for dinner.
But after the collapse of his marriage, it forced the 38-year-old to re-evaluate his health and he knew he had to make a change. He eventually put in the work and shed an incredible 16st.
Man whose marriage was destroyed because he was "too fat for sex" sheds so much weight and looks like a new person
Before he lost weight, Stephen, of Johnson City, Tennessee, was so large he struggled to put on his socks, and the extra pounds drove his sex drive "into the ground". The 5ft 7in IT expert said his body issues deeply affected his confidence and wore away at his marriage until he got divorced in 2016.

Stephen then began to curb his fast food addiction and returned to his power-lifting roots in October 2016, shedding an incredible 16 stone in just two years.
He said:
It’s fair to say that my weight ruined my marriage.
It was the single biggest factor.
My relationship with my wife deteriorated as my weight crept up.
I was depressed and as that set in intimacy kind of left. My weight drove my sex life into the ground.
I believe my depression and lack of sex drive ultimately drove my wife away from me.
If I had been a better husband I might have been able to pull the marriage back together.
My weight held me back from doing so many things. Getting dressed in the morning was tough.
I could hardly put on my socks.
My ex-wife and I went on vacation to New York City in 2012 and my weight really took a toll on me.
When you’re in New York, there is a lot of walking involved.
After a walk in Central Park I had to sit on a bench to catch my breath for a half an hour. I felt like a failure.
I never prepared meals and I usually ate fast food.
I would usually go to McDonald’s for lunch and order a Big Mac family meal, which was two Big Macs, two large fries, and two large cokes as well as 20 chicken nuggets.
I would drive through the drive through so they might think I was ordering the meal for a family.
After I finished I always felt so bad about myself. I hated myself.
For dinner I would order Pizza Hut or Domino's.
I was almost as round as I was wide. My pants were 60ins and I was 67ins tall.
Stephen said his return to the gym in October 2016 was extremely discouraging as he realised how far he had let his fitness slip. But the former powerlifter hit the gym every day and began practising intermittent fasting which sees him eat only between 5pm and 9pm each evening.

Stephen said:
My first time in the gym I was disgusted with myself. I could literally bench 175lbs which is as much as I could when I was a young teenager.
I don’t know how I had let myself get that far.
Gradually I’ve built myself back up 340lbs.
Now I practice intermittent fasting which means I only eat between 5pm and 9pm.
When I get home I break my fast with an apple and for dinner I have ground turkey and a pound of green beans.
I have two cups of air popped popcorn and one low-fat ice cream.

Career › Meet Daniel Adekunle – Security Guard Turned Software Developer! (Photos, Video) by nigeriapenbase(op): 3:33pm On Sep 25, 2018 |
News Source: https://nigeriapen.com.ng/daniel-adekunle-security-guard-turned-software-developer/https://i2.wp.com/nigeriapen.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Daniel-Adekunle-%E2%80%93-Security-Guard-turned-Software-Developer.jpeg?ssl=1When Daniel Adekunle was deployed as a Security man to Andela, he was trained to profile visitors, gather intelligence, guard lives and properties as well as ensure the security of the entire building. It didn’t take long for his sense of responsibility to be evident to his employers.
On the other hand, it took a while for him to really understand what the company was into. Adekunle while sharing his story said, “I thought Andela was a cybercafé, a very good one at that to have attracted such young and sharp guys I saw walking into the building every day.
” He was shocked to later realize that Andela was a global company, building a community of world-class developers in Lagos, Nigeria! He said he never even thought applications were built in Nigeria. “The realization that software applications can and are actually built in the country sparked my interest in computer programming,” he added.
As providence would have it, he caught wind of the CodeLagos Out-Of-School Programme, a free coding programme by Lagos State Government to train Lagos residents to code.
A new session was about to commence at the time, so he signed up and was picked to participate in the FREE Python Development Class at the Ilupeju training centre.
Daniel Adekunle ? Security Guard turned Software Developer! CodeLagos is 6-week training programme that exposes participants to courses in Python programming language, Java, BlockChain and Web Development. Adekunle was able to develop a game as his project during the training.
In an interesting twist of events, he was scheduled for an interview with Andela the same day he rounded up his classes at CodeLagos. The knowledge he acquired at CodeLagos came very in handy during the interview and he got the role.
He aced the interview, and now, the former gate man has been re-employed by Andela as a developer!
Adekunle’s story is one amongst thousands that have been empowered by the CodeLagos initiative which started in 2017. It reveals that dreams can become reality if you make the right choices and seize opportunities.
Adekunle’s choice to be dutiful at his post as a security guard and the decision to take advantage of the opportunity CodeLagos brought his way has paved the pathway for a very promising career as a software developer.
Today Daniel has moved from securing physical buildings to building firewalls and other software that secure complex tech systems. https://i0.wp.com/alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/5baa3ea48adf5.jpeg?w=640&ssl=1See video of Daniel’s story here Below; Source: https://nigeriapen.com.ng/daniel-adekunle-security-guard-turned-software-developer/ |

https://www.36ng.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/simi-simisola10368100-768x768.jpegIt’s been a year since singer/songwriter Simi released her debut album – Simisola and she’s thankful.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, the singer thanked her fans for their love and support the past year.
She wrote:
1 year ago, today, Magic happened. Take a seat. It’s about to be an epistle. . If I said I wasn’t and am not constantly blown away, and overwhelmed by the love you guys constantly show me, it would be a big lie. . It took my team and I years to compile the content and emotions packed in this album.
I work with a group of people, without whom I couldn’t possibly be who I am today. Thankful for them.
I remember a big part of me wanted to prove myself. I wanted to make a statement.
It’s not a secret that to thrive as a woman in the industry isn’t exactly a stroll in the park.
People second guess you. Make you second guess yourself. It was especially annoying for me, because I felt too many people were fixating on the wrong things.
Some said I was only successful because other men put me on. Some people wrote headlines and used TV shows to talk about my fashion sense (or lack of it ). Some were upset about how simple I was and me not trying to change that, because “she’s a celebrity, how dare she?”…etc.
However, if there’s anything I’m most sure about, it’s that I will never live my life to make other people comfortable. Even if I make mistakes, they will be my mistakes.
So I have to say thank you to those that fixated on the things that mattered – from the beginning.
Those of you who saw my heart and understood that I was and am just trying to live my truth one day at a time.
I’m not perfect, but I’m working on it. Will never be perfect, but I’m alright with it. This is why “Original Baby” was my fave song on the album – because it was my truest and most personal song.
So I put all my energy and heart into working and reworking SIMISOLA. Told my team not to put anything in my schedule for a while. I’m a perfectionist, so I would sometimes obsess over the songs.
I kept removing and adding songs. I replaced two songs about a month to the release date. Some days, I would wake up and love the album, others, I would go to bed hating it, cos it didn’t feel right just yet…
But on the 8th of September, Magic happened. And I’m so grateful that magic was my magic and you experienced it with me. I love you. So much. Thank you #SimiArmy See More Stunning Photos Below..... Politics › Open Defecation: EU To Construct Public Toilets In 14 Ekiti Towns (photos) by nigeriapenbase(op): 1:34pm On Sep 07, 2018 |
SOURCE: https://www.nigeriapen.com.ng/construct-public-toilets-14-ekiti-towns-150612/The European Union says it is financing the construction of public toilets in 14 towns in Ekiti State.
Ekiti State has the highest number of residents, among Nigerian states, who defecate openly, two agencies said in 2016.
The United Nations Children’s Fund and the European Union stated that two in three Ekiti residents engage in open defecation; adding that of the state’s 2.7 million population, 1.8 million engage in the unhygienic practice.
It said the Ekiti figure represents 60.8 per cent of Nigerians who defecate openly.
The project titled: ‘Farewell to Open Defecation’ is being implemented by Bread of Life Development Foundation in collaboration with the Ekiti State Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Programme, Babatope Babalobi the project coordinator said in a statement Thursday.
Mr Babalobi said the constructions will be carried out in two local governments: Gbonyin Local Government, and Ekiti West Local Government.
The benefitting towns are Iluomoba, Agbado, Egbe, Imesi, Ijan, Aisegba, and Ode in Gbonyin LGA; and Erio, Ido-Ile, Ipole-Iloro, Aramoko, Oke Imesi, Erinjinyan and Ikogosi in Ekiti West LGA.
Mr Babalobi said the toilets will be constructed in motor parks, bus stops, garages, and/or market places.
“It will comprise two blocks of three compartment pour flush toilets, urinals, handwashing facilities, bathing rooms, laundry, car wash, a sani-centre, solar powered motorised boreholes, and three prepaid meter public water standpoints.
“The project will also support the Sanitation Task Groups in the two LGAs to discuss and address WASH governance issues particularly policy, regulatory, legal, institutional, and financial framework for accelerated access to safe sanitation.
“It will facilitate several media based high level advocacy to key public and non-public service providers towards prioritising sanitation and mobilising financial resources for safe sanitation in the two LGAs; support the two LGAs Sanitation Task Groups to organise WASH public enlightenment meetings quarterly; and mobilise community leaders in the LGAs on strategies of accelerating safe sanitation and hygiene practices in the 14 small towns,” he said.
The constructed public toilets will be handed over to Public Toilet Management Committee (PTMC) for sustainable management, while Private Operators will be locally recruited to suitably operate and maintain the Public toilets through innovative public contracts.
“The public toilets will be operated using a business model, and revenues realised from user charges will be deposited in a Sanitation Revolving Fund, which is a financing mechanism for development of sanitation infrastructure in the small towns, at household and institutional levels,” he added.
According to the 2016/2017 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey by UNICEF done in Nigeria, open defecation has remained a challenge both in urban and rural areas.
The survey shows Nigeria has the second highest prevalence of open defecation in the world.
According to UNICEF, 25 per cent of Nigerians defecate openly and only three LGAs in the country are open defecation free.
This means that 771 of the 774 local government areas in the country are still grappling with open defection.
Lack of public toilets is one of the reasons people resort to open defecation in many parts of the country.
Global health agencies have stressed that Nigeria needs to launch a serious campaign against open defecation so as to attain Goal 6 of the UN sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
For Nigeria to be open defecation free, the World Bank said, the federal government needs to invest about N2.88 trillion ($8.3 billion) to effectively tackle the problem in different parts of the country. Actress Dawn Wells, best known for playing Mary Ann Summers on Gilligan’s Island, is in need of financial aid, according to a GoFundMe reportedly created by her friend.
A man by the name of Dugg Kirkpatrick recently launched a fundraiser with a goal of almost $200,000 to help Wells, 79, pay off medical bills.
According to the fundraiser description, Wells has been struggling to make ends meet since the 2008 financial crisis. She allegedly suffered “an unexpected accident that required hospitalization for two months” and needs the funds to “alleviate penalties by the IRS” and cover her hospital costs.
PEOPLE has reached out Wells, her agent and Kirkpatrick for comment.
Kirkpatrick told TMZ that Wells broke her knee this year and was already recovering from a major surgery where she suffered complications. She reportedly wants to be moved to a smaller assisted living facility that caters specifically to people in the film and TV industry, but she was denied due to her debt.
Kirkpatrick also told the outlet that Wells has no family to support her and has already lost her home. He is reportedly trying to get her moved into the new facility in Glendale, California, sometime this week.
The campaign has raised over $33,000 so far.
According to photos posted on his Twitter account, Kirkpatrick appears to be a hair stylist who has worked with Wells. See More Of Her Hospital pictures and twitter donations below... Source: https://www.nigeriapen.com.ng/gilligans-island-dawn-wells-gofundme/Lalasticlala

A Russian man, Maxim Anokhin, has dragged an IVF clinic to court after his wife confessed that she swapped his sperm for her lover’s when undergoing treatment in Moscow.
Woman swaps husband
The wife, Yana Anokhina, revealed the truth to him only when they broke up. Anokhina was said to have told the clinic she wanted the man she loved to be the father, but let her husband pay for the treatment and kept him in the dark for the child’s first year.

Vesti reports that Anokhin has been awarded £4,600 in compensation for his moral and financial damages after DNA tests proved that he was not the father. His lawyer, Olga Nemtseva, said the clinic, Kulakov Medical Centre, had a duty to her client and could not solely follow the wishes of his wife.
“I wanted to make this matter public, so there are no more cheated men like me, cheated husbands, in the future,” Anokhin said. “It should not happen again.” Yana is now in a relationship with the biological father of her baby. Politics › ‘if Atiku Doesn’t Get The Presidential Ticket, There’ll Be Crisis’–spokesperson by nigeriapenbase(op): 5:27pm On Sep 03, 2018*. Modified: 5:43pm On Sep 03, 2018 |
Atiku campaign spokesperson has made it clear that if his principal doesn't get the PDP presidential ticket, there will be crisis.
Spokesperson of the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar campaign organisation, Mr Segun Sowunmi, has announced that there will be crisis if his principal doesn’t nick the PDP presidential ticket during the October primaries.
The PDP will hold its primary elections in the first week of October, in accordance with guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for all political parties.
There are a slew of PDP chieftains jostling for the flagbearer ticket including Senate President Bukola Saraki, Gombe Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, former Kano Governor and serving Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kaduna Governor Ahmed Makarfi, Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Sokoto Governor Attahiru Bafarawa and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Keenly contested primary election The PDP presidential primary promises to be a keenly contested one in contrast with the APC presidential primary where incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari is just waiting to be handed the flagbearer ticket of the governing party.
Asked on a ChannelsTV program what his principal’s chances are ahead of the primaries, Sowunmi said: “Atiku is the man that the nation is waiting for. He can’t lose the ticket. It’s practically impossible.
Human beings have to vote and they have taken a position that Atiku is the candidate they are expecting. Anything other than that is crisis”.
Sowunmi also added that Atiku broke down in tears when he picked up the PDP nomination form because he was unaware that a group made up of his admirers had already concluded plans to purchase the N12million nomination form for him.
Atiku has been eyeing the number one job in the land since 1993. He served as President Olusegun Obasanjo’s deputy from 1999 to 2007; and famously endured a frosty relationship with Obasanjo midway into their tenure.
Atiku recently defected from the APC to the PDP as he tries to realise a lifelong presidential ambition. Read More At >>>>>> www.nigeriapen.com.ng SOURCE: https://www.nigeriapen.com.ng/if-atiku-doesnt-get-pdp-ticket-therell-be-crisis-id8806097-html/Lalasticlala
